Please read the stickies, as there is a thread that is for questions just like this.
Thanks.

Thank you. I will do some research.
and
I'm sorry, I apologize

By the way, are remote controls necessary for third person action games such as Batman or Ghostbusters? Excuse my ignorance, but as I stated I'm a console guy...
-
No big deal at all.
-
If you like dragon age, you will love The Witcher. (Its more mature theme BTW)
-
TBS:
Heroes of Might and Magic 5. Or HoMM 3 if you'd rather have better AI than graphics.
Galactic Civilizations 2 - the con is that the combat is primitive like rock-paper-....err nothing else. -
Nope - mouse and keyboard is sufficient.
Some console ports - like Ghostbusters - don't work so well with M&K, but it's usually a fault of the game designers just not being smart (and a symptom of an overall Bad Console Port). Others, like Batman, work just about as well on mouse as control pad.
Anything that isn't a console port or flight sim - M&K is the way to go. It might be awkward for a little while at first, especially if you do happen to pick up a shooter, but once you've gotten used to it, you'll never want to go back

thanks guys you are great, always very helpful and knowledgeable on this forum.

Dawn of War II. RTS + RPG = awesome.

What about World of Warcraft? A good friend of mine is addicted to that thing, he swears by it. What is the concept behind it?
-
As a World of Warcraft player I would have to say not get it unless you have A LOT of time on your hands. Some people play it and quit after the trial. Me I got hooked on the beta and for the next 3 years was logging an unhealthy amount of time on it.
But that was mainly because my friends all played it, and they too logged way too much time. Now i've managed to cut it down to maybe a couple hours a day when friends are on. -
Also how does Steam work. I preordered CIV V on it because it comes with an extra civilization the Babylonians. I understand that I download the game instead of getting a physical copy. But what about book manual and things of that nature.
Also if I order a bundle such as Save 25% on Square Enix Eidos Collector's Pack on Steam (which is a great deal at $75 for 36 items) does that mean I have to download ALL the games at once, I would prefer just to play the ones I want when, instead of having all of them installed at once. Again I apologize but this is all new to me, so bear with me please.
EDIT: By the way how can this company Steam sell these games so cheap in bundles. Batman alone in the above bundle is a $40 game. Please explain how this Steam works, seems too good to be true. -
Yea, I hear ya. I know about addicting games, I'm a CIV addict. Check the video hysterical YouTube - Welcome to CivAnon Well currently I am unemployed in the summer (teacher), so I do have the time. What is the monthly fee? Would I be able to download the trial once I get my laptop?
-
You don't get them, though sometimes you can find PDF manuals or the like.
You can get each game individually. -
Monthly fee is still $14.99 a month as I recall. Should have no problem getting the trial downloaded when your laptop gets there.
Then it has 2 expansions, if you really get into it their still like 40-50 bucks each. -
Try 7th Guest
-
oh and if you like strategy games dont forget sins of a solar empire
-
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
Steam works with the publishers to offer great deals. Not sure how they get them so low, but it's totally legitimate.
If you buy a game on Steam, you can download it any time (I have some games that I bought months ago and still haven't downloaded, they won't go away). If you buy a bundle, they can be downloaded separately. You can redownload as many times as you need, but it's generally easier on all parties if you backup the games you're not using to an external drive for easy reinstallation.
A) How is he supposed to find a copy?
B) Attempting to run 7th Guest on a modern machine might be enough to turn him off from PC gaming for good
C) I can think of at least a couple dozen different golden-age adventure games better than 7th Guest with little to no effort, and most of them are more readily available as well. -
i forgot to add this, one of my alltime favs together with the original dawn of war. rpg+rts indeed!

SINS OF A SOLAR EMPIRE. I absolutely love how one game takes over 6 hours to finish.
-
Oh sounds nice and convenient. I wonder why on the civfanatics.com forums everyone is upset that it CIV V is through steam, regardless if you buy it from them. Something with Steamworks, that you must access it through CIV. I wonder why they dislike having to use Steam, any legitimate reasons?
-
Also I posted something about software under it's appropriate section, but received no responses maybe you guys can help me, since games are essentially software anyway
Again sorry for the newb stuff, just trying to maximize money I spend on utilities and still add some flavor and some entertaining software to my machine. -
They aren't necessary but I prefer to play them with a wireless Xbox 360 Controller. Since you already own consoles, you can just buy either a wired PC USB adapter or a wireless one to use. On the PC, you get to decide what you want to use.

The Witcher, Mass Effect 2, Dirt 2 and Supreme Commander 2

Hi guys, Im gonna host a small (4-5 people) LAN, and I need some good recommendations for games with entertaining co-op modes or a multiplayer mode that can be fun even with only 4-5 players.
We are likely going to play Left for Dead 2 and the new Serious Sam remakes, but Id love to hear some other suggestions.
Im open for both shooters and strategy games
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
L4D2 tops out at 4 players
-
counter strike source or COD MW2
-
Get Borderlands, that game is really fun if you coop - better loots, tougher enemies and bosses.
Anno 1404 + Venice, you guys can play against each other or play/manage one team against AI -
You say you don't like FPS's but I'm not convinced that you've tried any recent stuff
It's painful to ask but, have you looked at the half-life 2 series and portal? Valve makes some good stuff that doesn't feel too ADHD-shooter-style. Anything by stardock is also gold, but isn't on steam, it's thru their impulse thing.
And for general programs, Microsft Security Essentials and windows firewall have actually improved greatly, and are free for windows users. Google CCCP if you watch any tv shows or movies on your comp, install their codec pack and you'll be able to play anything on the net. -

If you have a PS3, Demon's Souls.
-
Age of Empires III. If you go to their website you can download a free trial.
-
I second Killing Floor, i've logged nearly 3x more on this than I have on Left 4 Dead 2.
-
- left 4 dead 2 -- play versus and don't rage
- Borderlands -- one of the most expansive games i have ever played/great for co-op -
I'd recommend you give Global Agenda a try. It may or may not suit you, but deserves a chance nonetheless.
Save 33% on Global Agenda on Steam
Hope you like it!

I found The Witcher was a very clunky game to play
Yes to these two, Oblivion first! -
i just got fallout 3 with all the expansions.i looked at the witcher but it didnt look that great, is it Good? ill try oblivion as well...should i go with knights of the old republic or skip to the 2nd one? ohh and im anti console these days =0)
-
Fallout 3, def a rec. annnd.. well, I liked Titan Quest and Age of Mythology.
If youre into that kinda thing.
-
If you've never tried Oblivion you're in for a very special treat. Maybe the greatest RPG of all time. It honestly has everything.
I have an extra copy. PayPal me $10 and I'll send it to you, haha. Comes with the box, the map, the manual, everything in like new condition and the Knights of the Nine expansion. I was just getting ready to stick it up on eBay.
And I can second Demon's Souls for PS3. That's an amazing, amazing game as well. Only have one of those though.
-
Would Mass Effect 2 be considered a RPG? If so, definitely recommended.
