I would say for the best racing game experience; Gran Turismo Series with the racing wheel and pedal setup. One of the most frustrating and rewarding gaming experiences that actually taught me how to save gas IRL by handling corners in a precise and efficient way. Knowing when to hit the gears appropriately and so forth.
Although I've heard good things about rFactor now taking the crown of ultrarealism, havent played it yet. -
Doesn't NFS:Shift qualify as Sim Racing, rather than Arcade? correct me if I'm wrong...
I bought it for my XPS, but I got sick of the crashing and crappy FPS... but I can't wait to check it in the AW... -
Well, not really. NFS: Shift falls in between those two categories, it leans slightly more toward to arcade racing for wider audience appeal. It does have real nice and realistic in-car cockpit views and sense of speed. It's alot more realistic in terms of vehicular handling compared to other titles in the series, but it's definitely not in the same league as GTR2.

If you just want to drive, no game does it better (imo), than Test Drive Unlimited.
-
The only racing game i prefer is Forza Motorsport 3. but of course, that's on the Xbox 360.
Gran Turismo 5 will be awesome when it's released i bet!
But for PC, DiRT2, Test Drive Unlimited isn't bad, i didn't really like the mechanics on handling though, erm, Grid is ok, Burnout Paradise is good fun. -
Thanx to all for the response
Will try Test drive Unlimited, GTR and Burnout Paradise now -
What free mmos do you guys play? I need one to spend my time on during the summer. I'll play pretty much any mmo except for 2d unless its especially amazing

Try Allods Online. Allods Online
I was just like you a week ago, trying to find a decent free MMORPG, and ended up with Allods. Its art style and UI resemble WoW, beyond that I can't tell you much, since I'm still quite new to the game (at level 7). There's a big patch coming up tomorrow that will add mounts, etc... so the servers will be down tonight for 12 hrs. So you might wanna download and play it tomorrow.
Other good free MMORPGs:
Dungeons and Dragons Online Home | Dungeons & Dragons Online
Lord Of The Rings Online (will be free-to-play this fall) The Lord of the Rings Online Home | The Lord of the Rings Online
Also try Guild Wars, it doesn't require monthly subscription fee, just buy the game once and play. -
My vote goes to guild wars, you can get the trilogy on steam for a decent price. After four years and a half, i still play this game. I would recommend the trial before purchasing though.
-
Guild Wars is a good one. For a completely F2P I would recommend D&D or Perfect World.
Or forget RPG's and get TF2 -
DDO is a lot of fun it can take some time to get things going though. I would waste entire days just sitting around and doing nothing. It's probably different now that is f2p though, more players.

Perfect World was the #1 free one last time I checked.
Guild Wars is free to play but the game is not free, by the time you get the game & expansions it can add up, plus with GW2 out I wonder what kind of impact that had on the game. -
I played Guild Wars a long time ago but I didnt like how the only interaction was in town unless you were in a party.
-
Well, Lord of the Rings Online goes F2P near fall 2010, so you might wanna try that.
Also recommend you to check this site here, mmohut.com/.
Has some reviews and news on anything MMO related. -
yeah mmohut.com is great. also, you can always play on private servers for games like WoW.
-
IS there any mmo's that are free and are like grandtheftauto or APB (all points bulltien)?

My Asus G73 is coming tomorrow and I'm looking to buy my first game on Steam. I have never purchased a game online, and in all honesty the only computer games I have really played were those of the Civilization series. Any recommendations for my first game. I'm looking for a deep, detailed game that is an RPG type/strategy, with a great deal of customization. Action/adventure games are good too. I really don't like first person shooters, or any first person type games for that matter. I have the summer off and I'm looking for something with a deep story line, something that can keep me occupied until Civ V is released. I would like something somewhat newer would good graphics to see the capabilities of my G73. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: How is The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom, Grand Ages: Rome, and Europa Universalis III Complete? These seem a lot like Civ. Anything new that is like this? -

SA-MP San Andreas Multiplayer mod for Grand Theft Auto (GTA SA)
It required a non patched version of GTA SA (v1.0)
-
Please recommend me a free online game to play on my M15x (which should arrive anytime soon).
I'm not a big fan of RPGs, and I tend to lean towards action games (GTA or Prototype-like games), but I might try some RPG.
I want it to be free, online play and nice graphics to show off my new laptop.
thanks in advance. -
So I'm going to purchase my first game for my G73, and it is Dragon Age: Origins. I was wondering should I buy the expansion pack now as well, or wait tell I get deep into the game? Does it add a lot of stuff from the start, is it worth it from Steam with the Digital Deluxe Edition? I'm looking at $90 for both. Is the Deluxe Edition a must, looking to save a few bucks. Thanks
EDIT: I know you need the original to play the the expansion, but does the expansion add to the regular game as well, or am I playing two separate games. Most expansion I know of add to the original game, but all the reviews I watch seem to point in the direction that it is a separate game. Thoughts? -
Yea i been playing that for a while, thanks anyway...

Which is better Crysis or Crysis Warhead ??
-
Should I go with Dragon Age for my first game on my new laptop, or The Witcher, or another game, ummm I'm decisively indecisive...Someone help me, I'm a newb at these computer games!
-
If you want to brag about your laptop, buy Crysis, I'm sorry I am not more help, but FREE, ONLINE, and PRETTY are ehh. You can get any combination of the two, though =) -

Some MMO with nice graphics? -
-
I have been gaming literally since the first days of Pong, Atari, etc... Nowadays, I am mostly into Action, FPS, and some puzzle games. I am looking for a PC turn based strategy game, along the lines of the Nintendo DS/Gameboy game Advanced Wars. I have played Military Madness, which is very close and a lot of fun, but have just not been able to find any other games along those same lines. I have played a lot of tower defense games as well, like Defense Grid, etc, but have just never found another game like Advanced Wars on the PC. I have also tried several RTS like Company of Heroes, but I find those games are just too fast for my tastes. Can anyone reccomend any good ones that are along those lines? Thanks for looking, and thanks in advance for any help anyone might be able to provide!

Take a look at the Total war series. They complain turn based and real time strategy. The game is such that you don't actually have to play either.
-
Civ 4 nuff said.
-
Another vote for Civilization 4.
With the expansions, it's probably the best turn-based strategy game out there. -
The Battle Isle series from German developer BlueByte pre-dated the GBA release of Advanced Wars by almost a decade and they are very similar...and I think it offers a better strategic combat engine...you just don't have the CO powers/units...and I would stay away from Shadow of the Emperor (good game...horrible full-motion video)...unfortunately, no one else bought it so BlueByte just continued with The Settlers...you'll have to find copies on eBay or Amazon...
Also, if you don't mind a WW2 backdrop instead of sci-fi, there's Panzer General 2...it's on sale at gog.com for 10 USD...
And Civ 4 (with 3 and 2 and the original) is a great game...but Battle Isle was a much quicker scenario game...not near the complexity of Civ 4, but complexity isn't always what you want...sometimes Field Commander on the PSP or Advanced Wars on the DS is enough... -
galactic civilizations 2
-
Heroes of Might and Magic 3
-
Another vote for HOMM series. I've wasted countless hours on it...especially HOMM2 and 3.
-
Space Empires series

Any good turn based rpgs for PC?
-
Thanks all for your replies!! I will give all of those games a go. I have field commander on the PSP as well, and it is a great game. That and AW are both great games, that are very simplistic in nature, but yet can become very challenging. I have heard about the Civ series, but have never tried it. The Battle Isle and Panzer General games sounds like exactly what I am looking for. I will give them all a go, and thank you all for the replies and recommendations!

Hi!
I've been sort of out of touch with PC gaming lately. Since I just bought a new laptop, I was hoping if you have any recommendations for RPGs on the PC. I mean, besides, Fallout, Oblivion, ME1 and 2 and Dragon Age since I have them for the PS3 and 360. I just purchased Torchlight and Trine. Any other good ones out there? -
-
And slightly older, but worth a go because it's different from most RPGs: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
And if you enjoy Torchlight (what I consider an action RPG), you might consider: Silverfall (steampunk from 2007), Sacred 2 (2009) and Divinity 2 (2009). The latter two are not PC exclusive and I have no idea which way they were ported. Sacred 2 and Silverfall didn't do very well, but I enjoyed them. I've never played Divinity 2, but I played both of its predecessors and they were unique, if slightly unpolished. -
Thanks for the replies. I'll try to check out those titles.
For the Witcher, which edition should I get? I heard the Enhanced Edition had some problems. Should I just get the regular edition instead? What are the differences between the two? -
I've owned the Witcher since its initial release and it hasn't disappointed me, I hope you enjoy the same experience. -
Agreed. Regular is slow, and a bit buggy, and in Polenglish.
Go to steam. download the enhanced directors cut edition for 20$. It is the best most up to date version. -
Thanks guys!
Will be sure to get that title.
