I'm at SEA region ._.
Then again SEA region players are able to play NA region by September no?
-
That's what Blizzard said, SEA region players will have access to the North American servers. But, achievements and stats would not carry over.

looking for a practice partner, I am a zerg player currently ranked in the 30s in the Platinum league of 1v1s.

bad news I got DEMOTED from gold to silver for some reason lol. I guess I lost too many games in a row. I did just start playing random though so thats a big reason. I almost always get stuck with terran and lose almost all my Terran games. I win most of my zerg/protoss games.
Dont understand why I have a hard time with terran both fighting them and using them. -
-
now taking donations for a new computer, it's soo depressing. it's hard enough as a zerg, but everytime I try to do some sort of micro intensive battle (or just some big army battle). I just lag for a few seconds but those few seconds just my army. I'm qqing so hard right now, I know. maybe i should learn terran/switch to terran, lol.
anyways, ill msg yall for some practice games and vicious we need to finish those placement 2v2s. i get a feeling we can 5-0, lol.
oo takeiteasy, im down to practice with you. you play a solid game, and play random. ill msg you next time i get on. -
No clue why. -

I had to go after that one game because it was dinner time and I had my laptop staged on the table.
I had like 10 beers already by then so I was starting to feel a bit off my game anyways. -
Damn, I gotta just play online. I saw your message before Vicious, but didn't get it until later and you seemed like you were online and couldn't see my message. Just be clear anyone that plays with me, I will be a huge handicap! I tend to turtle more than rush, but I can be pretty effective once I get my army the way I want it. I play Terran 90% of the time though.

For our first few games we can go vs CPU to get some of that teamwork synergy going. Though the cpu does like to do an early rush so dont be caught with your pants down.

And i dont understand to much why chose Mexico for latin america though, not that i have anything against, but it seems still pretty much north america located, this probably wont help much to anyone in south america. I could have seen something like Colombia/Panama to be more friendly with the hole Latin America country spread.
In the past, blizzard, had both Latin and North america united under the same servers, at least when WOW started, then they created Oceanic and Latin America server, but i still believe they were still located on the US, was just mearly a tag on the servers (not totally sure). But from that, i never even bothered checking if there was an Latin America option, i wanted to play the game in English and to play with some old friend that i have from WOW, so i didn't bother. But now we have a semi separated community here, like 10 in the US battle net, and 3 on the Latin America Battlenet.... and this imo is bad, at least for how online gaming is in here, either way ill just end my rant here, not a intentional QQ, just a bad decision on Blizzard from my standpoint.

Actually I think SEA region players are in luck. Just saw this from Blizzard's SEA FAQ.
Why can't I talk to my World of Warcraft friends using RealID?
The Oceanic (and all US WoW realms) reside on the US Battle.net region and currently you aren't able to connect to friends outside of the SEA region.
Blizzard have received a large number of concerns regarding this implementation and as a result are allowing owners of SEA versions of Starcraft-2 to create a US Battle.net account. According to Blizzard this will be available roughly 60 days after initial launch.
More info available here - North American Server Access for Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Players FAQ | Facebook
-------------------------------------------------------------
Will I be able to keep my current statistics, friends, achievements when I create a US Battle.net Account?
Currently no, when you create a US Battle.net account all of the account specific data, including friends lists, rankings, achievements, statistics, titles and unlockable rewards, will be tracked separately for each region's servers.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Why can't we play on the US.Battle.net?
This is primarily due to our accounts being tied to the SEA region, however as mentioned above eventually players will be able to create a US.Battle.net account so that they can play on US.Battle.net
-------------------------------------------------------------
If this is the case, SEA region owners will just have to wait in order to have access to the North American Servers. -
GGs, Kybs.
Too bad we got placed in Gold though. -
ugh that 1 game messed up our rankings though, gold (eww).
i definitely need to upgrade or get a better computer, sc2 is no fun when you lag. esp during battles where you need to micro for a bit or just during games with alot of on the field.
random/takeiteasy is a good player, i think you carried most of the games but it was fun.
ggs! -

Yeah Random is good, but your one of the better players I have played with too kbs. BaconPie is good and a few others. While the friends list only has one or two people who picked "master" We have atleast 6+ platinum/diamond players in our group.
Its great when a lot of us are on at once and get together like that 3v3 all NBR matchup we had on infernals. BaconPie owned me but it was still fun
Im thinking about putting together a vote for best time of the week to try to get on for some NBR team games, no obligations to be online this is now a WoW raid but if you find yourself online and in SC2 at a certain time pretty regularly every week and lots of others fit the same time frame we can try to make that NBR SC2 game night. Me personally best time is Friday night as I work overnight shift during the week and have a 5AM mountain bike ride on Sunday mornings keeping me from being up late on Saturday.
Going back to the skill level. Many people maybe did not know there real skill level when signing up since they just got the game, if you have changed your skill level and want me to change it on the friends list just PM me and I can change it for you. I think general guide would be
Bronze - Total Novice / Beginner
Silver - Beginner / Average
Gold - Average / Above Average
Platinum - Above Average / Master
Diamond - Master
Another thing is do you guys know how to set your status? Like when I squeeze in a few quick co-op games vs cpu at work I set my status to busy since there is no way I can play a ladder game when at work where I can get interrupted at random. Quite a few guy show available and I ask them to game and they say they are doing campaign or something so it would be best to set your status as "busy" so we know not to bug you. -

Hey guys, had an idea please participate if you would like.
The new SC2 sig generator site, I would like to put these stat tracking signatures in the first post for each person in the friends list. I just like how it shows rank and w/l ratio and stuff.
We will use the small one that looks like this:
Please PM me your UBB code for your sig if you would like me to include it on the first post. it will act as both a way for me to easily get each persons link and also as my way of getting your permission to post it. -
Seeming that you got mine already, go ahead and use it
It's quite a handy sig which update at least every 24 hours.
It's better if you could also provide a guide on how to get to your SC2 profile thoughJust a suggestion.

I actually had trouble finding mine (trouble for me is it took more than 2 minutes lol) had to log into my battle.net account and then click on my profile link. The hard part was actually finding the battle.net url for starcraft 2. -
Simply place Starcraft2.com and the region variants like EU Starcraft 2 Get them to login there and just click the profile picture
Saves time and easier to do it straight from the SC2 website
If you do it from battle.net, it's:
1. Login your account
2. Click Explore and select Starcraft 2 (Or just click Visit Starcraft 2 picture down there)
3. Click your profile. It's on the right side showing your battlenet ID (Real name) as well as your Starcraft 2 name with the portrait that you're using. -
Yeah the little sig is pretty great. -
-
Does the sig take a bit to show on the forums? It works in my user cp, but it hasn't show up yet on the forums.
EDIT:NVM. -
Had epic games with NBR people today. Especially that hour long one. God was it close.
GGs everyone.
Also nice 2v2s Vicious. -
Noob here.
Just joined and started playing SC2. I haven't even dared to venture into PvP yet, just comp stomps (though sometimes the comp stomps me). I need more practice...
Anyway, I've added myself to the DB so if you see I'm online just ping me.
Cheers. -
Welcome to the SC2 scene
Thanks for joining us
We look forward to playing with you. If you have any questions or need help about the game, do take a look at the Starcraft 2 Tips Thread.

Plenty of nice info in that thread. Thanks!
Just finished a 2v2 with a med AI vs. 2 med AI. I am definitely faster as Protoss as that was one of the fastest games I've played at 23 minutes. Is there a recommended level of AI I should be able to consistently beat before venturing into PvP? I haven't done my 5 placement rounds yet or any PvP for that matter, only Coop with a friend (who is a LOT faster than me playing as Terran; we can usually beat a med and hard AI together, sometimes 2 hard AIs depending on the map). Should I just dive in right meow and see where I get placed or should I wait until I can always beat a medium AI no matter the race?
Meow. -
Start with being able to beat up to hard AIs first. Then if you're planning to be in the 2v2 league, try to synchronise with your partner well and be able to support each other effectively knowing what to do against certain race combinations. Teamwork is key
If you're aiming for 1v1, being able to beat hard AI is enough but note that in the league you're playing with real people so their trail of thought may be very different than AIs. For placements, you should be matched against easier opponents at first (perhaps bronze and silver level) and if you keep on winning, you'll be matched up to people as high as platinum league by the 5th placement match to determine your division. -
Hmmmm. I'm still a bit too slow to go toe-to-toe with hard AIs, so I guess more practice is in order. I've almost got my initial build order down to get out my initial army (by this time my friend is also beating down the med AI
), but then I tend to lose focus after that. So many choices...
Not sure if I want to 1v1 or 2v2 just yet. I might start in 2v2 and see how it goes. I'd go into the higher populated games but I don't think my current laptop could handle it.Guess I'll stick to the smaller games until I order a new laptop.
Thanks for the advice! -

Id like to do an all nighter again tonight since this is my 2nd day off work but looks like I may be doing camping in the back yard with the kids instead. Kind of promised it to them.
Still I will be on before bed time and at other random times during the weekend. -
ugh, zerg right now is soo retarded. you need to have like an apm of 200-300 to utilize them to the best and our units get countered soo hard. It's ridiculous. I have to rely on a terrans mistakes for me to have a chance or catch them off guard somehow. Blizzard better do something about this, honestly. and protoss, it's up in the air
Im switching to protoss now, going to use 2v2 randoms for practice grounds. (lol placed silver) -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I really like zerg I feel them to be very powerfull it most situations. They have a great early rush game, and a great all around mid game unit (hydra) and one of the fastest flyers (muta) it just happens to be they have mechanics that can be taken advantage of pretty easy.
We still one this game a 2v2 with me and BaconPie but they kept rushing into my base going directly for my hatchery and it didnt last long with 6 zealots and a bunch of zerglings attacking. They would just ignore my units and go directly for the hatchery and of course that means I lose my mining and unit production so it put me so far behind that they were able to do it 3 more times in the game. Luckly I went for a relitivly fast expand on that game so I was able to recover later on and just went with a cheap zerlging/bainling build and we pulled through. -
Again, not a zerg player so I'm 100% theorizing here =P -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I can produce units faster with terran & protoss than I can zerg
Spawn larva takes a long time to work, you have to create secondary hives to really keep up with unit production and of course it takes more micro skill to keep up with since you need to have a qeen and use an ability to spawn the larva.
I generally try to have one hive and one queen in main and a second hive & queen on my natrual but its not always safe and the unit production is not very great from just two buildings, and you have to produce a lot of overlords that takes up a lot of your larva, esp if your going roach early game they eat supply like crazy.
I can never keep my minerals low in a long game with zerg though, roach/muta and the like use up soo much gas that I am left with a ton of floating minerals, and at that point in the game zerglings are not a good idea to use up the minerals since they will consume all your larva and may not do a lot of dmg depending on the enemy forces. -
I have the exact same problem with zerg. I sometimes build extra hatcheries in non-expansion spots, but that somehow seems wasteful to me - after all, if I'm good enough with focusing on my queen's larva-pumping, I can easily keep my gas below a couple hundred the whole game, so I don't need an extra hatch. But if I forget about my queen for an extra several seconds, then I run low on larvae, which leads to being low on overlords, which leads to running out of units (since they do get taken down so darn quickly).
And after all that micromanagement of larvae and queens, I can never tech to ultralisks fast enough to get them before the end-game. Not that I could really afford them anyway - mutalisks and hydralisks eat up gas, as do corrupters, and brood lords are just WAY too expensive and time-consuming to make for the relatively pitiful damage they deal (a goddamn hydralisk is deadlier than a brood lord, not counting the broodlings).
And if my opponent gets colossi, it's game over, because again, not enough gas to make an effective counter. -
Protoss is really fun. Last night in one of the 2v2 random silver games (lol), I did a two timed attacked using warp prisms and an attack from the front.
stalker/zealot/sentry to guide away his army and then I warped in two dark templars to take out his worker line. lol soo much fun and less stressful. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Dark Templar are about one of the meanest units in the game to the unsuspecting foe.
Me and Blue Alien were just in a 2v2 we were double terran and they were double protoss.
I got slammed hard with a dual zealot push, but survived with some great micro and some backup from Blue Alien at the end but when we started to make our push against them some DT showed up in his base and ate it for lunch. -
So what's the best strategy against the Dark Templars then? It seems everyone struggles with those. I kinda wish each race had one hero unit like in C&C Generals Zero Hour. I could do some massive damage with Colonel Burton. Just distract the enemy with a pseudo attack on their base, and send Col. Burton in to blow up 2 - 3 critical structures. Lather, rinse, repeat, ad nauseum. Would work 80% of the time.
-
Dark Templars are fragile. Just make sure you have detectors and you're set to counter them with any unit (Except workers
)
-
They're hugely expensive, too. If your opponent has them, they likely won't be building tons of stalkers and void rays and colossi in addition, so just build whatever you can that will take out zealots and dark templar, and you should be good. Assuming he never slips a few by your notice and trashes your base.

Movin' on up
Won 5 in a row this morning to make my record 60/49 and up to rank 4 in my new gold league.
I am right on the tail of 2nd and 3rd but 1st place guy has about a 40 point lead. Id have to win another 5 in a row to take his spot.
Despite doing so good (no distractions, sort of rested finally) I need to get some sleep and have to get off the game. Its hard when your on a roll.
Both of my last games I should have lost. One of them I tried reaper rush and failed horribly because he did the same thing but I left first and his reapers were on the clif where I was going to jump up. So all 3 of mine died and then he came to my base and killed every single one of my workers before my siege tank got him.
I guess he continued to go reaper, so when I built back up with some marines/marauders and 2 tanks and came to storm his base I guess my scan/tank combo killed all his reapers and he GG'ed
The next game was that small rush map steps of war. I decided to zealot rush and ended up being walled out. It was a long game and he has a bigger meaner force than me and a locked up tight base. But I kept pressure on and expanded twice while he only had one expansion that my void rays got. I think he ran out of money and it became a base race. But since I had 2 bases and void rays he lost the race
DT really worked well took out most of his force that I would have otherwise lost against. He had many detector turrets in his base after I got him good with DT once, but out in the field he relied on his scans to save him. When the base race started first thing I did was take out his command center... that is what really screwed him. He did not give up I won the victory by destroying all his structures. -
I added myself.
If anyone wants 1v1 practice against a decent protoss player, hit me up! -
just ripped through 2v2 randoms ladder, I am gold now lol. The only game I lost today was 1 where my teammate tried to 6-pool on a long distance map, I simply face palmed. Of course the choke was blocked off and he was economically f'ed. Ending in a 2v1 situation and getting ripped by 2rax and 4-gate push, such a dissappointment. We could have won that soo easily :[.
yo farful, im down for a 1v1 with you. I just added you and will send you a msg if you are ever on. also add me: kybs : 244
we also need to do some nbr games again! perhaps maybe try infernal arena again lol, or not (my computer gets super raped on it for some reason).
and university is killing my game time with sc2 rofl, I might have to take a huge break from it. -

Hmm last time we tried infernal arena it didnt work so well
It was like what a 10 minute load time for everybody and then it just loaded to the victory screen?
Maybe just bad luck we can try again.
I have not taken the time to learn this new fancy map editor but I do have an idea for a map.
I want to call it "Hold the Line" and it would be a 4v4 map.
Each side of the map has a raised "Line" of bases 4 of them in a row with only one entrance at the front to get to all 4 bases and each base is the only way into the next.
So basically you have to "hold your line" and decide how to do that. You could have everybody build at the front and bolster a strong defense, or try to have one of the guys that spawn in a rearward base tech up while you hold the bases choke.
Of course air would be popular just like infernal.
I think it would be a cool map, if somebody wants to take my idea and make a well polished map thats ok with me but please give me credit for the idea
Probably two high yield mineral bases at the top and bottom portions of the map between the two main bases. I think I will design it in a way that reapers and colossi can not get into the rear bases only the first base or two.
As for voice servers, I dont find it nessisary but I am all for it if we can find an easy to use server. I have never used or even heard of mumble but I am familiar with TS and Vent.
I know SC2 has one built in but I guess a lot of us are having issues with it myself included.
