Welcome to the collective!![]()
I'm right there with you on Z... I'm just not really a rusher by style so I always end up with more resources than I can spend since I tend to focus on economy early game and THEN build up the army.
BTW, your post and sig have different IDs (one says 936, the other 928). Not sure which to try...

I'll be on today from 7-10pm EST if anyone wants to game with me. Played like 50 solo games on Monday and Tuesday and lost the majority of them *sigh*. Gotta take a break from it!
-
Like on some days its a magic 10 game winstreak, and then on other days its like a 20 game losing streak. -

Don't know how I'll ever use it up. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I have very little for 1v1 and 2v2 probably a ton for 3v3 and 4v4 though.
-
yo vicious I saw your setup on viciouscomputers (3 monitors!), have you tried playing starcraft 2 in 3D ?
sc2 in 3d would be intense. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Shame to have the setup go to waist using only 1 screen (actually even worse so im using 1920x1080 on my 19201200 monitor since SC2 is Vert- on 16:10)
I have been playing singularity the last few days though to get back into some of that eyefinity goodness. Its been so long I didnt even know how to react when the game loaded up on all 3 screens, I almost giggled like a little school girl. 3x24" is a lot of space almost 5' across so its pretty amazing in person. -

Just an idea to help bolster our SC2 group here on NBR.
As the owner of the NBR Steam Gaming group I encourage you to join if you have not and I will use Steams event scheduling function to remind everybody of Friday nights being our offical NBR Game Night for SC2.
SC2 is not a steam game obviously but it can help remind you, if you wish you can even add SC2 as a non steam game to your client so other NBR users on steam can see you online and know your playing.
NBR Steam Gaming Group - LINK
If your not a SC2 gamer you should obviously join to play other games. -
Hey everyone, I just added myself!
I'm fairly new to SC2 (and RTS in general), Bronze league, only 17 wins. I only play Zerg, and I'm looking for some cool / pleasant people with a similar skill level to play with/against, and be willing to offer pointers to each other as well.
I've only played 1v1 so far, so if someone would like to play 2v2 with me that be ideal.
Lennok:740 Please add me and mention that your from NBR. -
Added myself to the list as well. Will try to drop by the NA servers soon =)

How much aprox. cost to you? (I would like one as yours) -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
How much did the desk cost or the setup?
The desk I built myself as I am a creative guy who likes to save money.
Its a 3/4" sheet of MDF cut to about 10'x3' from Home Depot for like $16 and two file cabinets I got used from Office Depot for like $20 each, and then some contact paper to cover it with for like $10.00
So my huge wall long desk didnt cost me much more than $50.00 + time & effort. -
But the desk was another doubt that i had, Thanks
-
Was finally able to play with you guys.
Sorry left during the second game, had to get to work =(
but all in all, great fun thanks =) -
I missed it
I blame my housemates >:[ I planned to sleep at 8pm and they made me sleep at 11 >.> -

Its ok we cant always make it, just try to get on next week.
I didnt play SC2 the full night, ended up playing some worms games with wingnut and a friend of his as SC2 was making my room 500 degrees because the wife was watching TV while I was playing and the combo of the computer and the HDTV and the HDTV receiver just pumps out too much heat. -

Found a great new game for us to play on SC2 game night.
Its called phantom mode.
Its a 8 player FFA custom game with a few major twists.
First and formost I dont like FFA on game night because if its a 30 minute game and somebody loses 10 minutes in, they get booted from the game as a loser and have to wait 20 minutes for us on the main menu and that sucks. So they usually go play another game or get off. Then after we do finish the game our party is screwed.
This custom map however when you die you go to spectate and watching is fun.
______
About the game. Im sure many of you have played some of those deception type games where one person at random is choosen as the "bad guy" and everybody has to find who that is before he kills you.
Its like that but better.
There are actually 3 roles chosen at random in this game.
Phantom (bad guy) - Phantom gets extra resources and supply cap and gets stronger and stronger over time.
Paladin (good guy) - Paladin gets extra resources but does not get stronger over time.
Slayer (good guy) - Slayer is just a normal player no bonus's but needs to kill the phantoms.
In a normal game there are 2 phantoms, 2 paladins, and 4 slayers but when the game starts there is a vote to modify several of the game options.
It gets really interesting trying to figure out who is the phantoms or not, everybody starts as an ally with shared vision, and at random people start to drop ally vision and things get complicated
Its a lot of fun, its 8 players, it will offset the skill difference between some of us as our better players just wipe the floor with the lesser guys even when we try to balance teams so I think this game should be the ideal solution and I hope to try it this Friday.
Husky did a video on it so thats how I found out about it.

I think I will try to cast the game I just did sometime later this week (though I wont be nearly as good of a caster as Husky)Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Vicious, that sounds awesome. I hope to get on Friday then!
-
ooh I hope I won't miss this next one
Phantom actually sounds like a good game
-
I just played a couple. Both times I was Slayer and started right next to the Phantom and got steam rolled in no time flat. Not so fun.

... I'd like to do latest Day9's Funday Monday challenge: 3v3 or 4v4, where every player publicly announces what one unit he will build.
Zerg can build overlords/overseers and queens (I would think the intent is only 1 queen per hatch for spawning purposes, not for offence), and Protoss can build observers, but besides that, just one type of unit.
Sounds like ridiculous fun ... anyone want to do it this Friday? -
Doing it on Friday wouldn't make it Funday Monday but rather Funday Friday
I'd lol to see everyone shout out "Battlecruisers", "Carriers", "Ravens" or any of those high tier units and everyone gets owned by the lone guy who calls for "Marines" -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Its hard to know who is phantom until late game when you can see the enconomy higher than the other players, but that is where the paladin comes in as the paladin gets extra income too so you may be killing a paladin
The first game I played I guess it took so long that the map revieled the two phantoms to each other. Then they imediatly teamed up and rolled us.
Oh and be quick about dropping allied status if somebody attacks you. I lost the 2nd game because I had somebody attacking me and I was not attacking back for a bit. -

And yeah, one guy could shout "marines", but a) it's multiplayer, so hopefully, your team mates don't hang you out to dry, and b) going marines would be lame.
I'm pretty sure I know what unit I want to go with ... it's a unit I'm just starting to use, and I'm really liking it.Oh, and if you already knew about Day9/Funday Mondays, sorry for being a humourless dufus.

When the cap went up they saw my starports star to build and new I was a phantom, just some corruptors and some void rays easily took out my entire fleet of maxed out battlecrusers.
About 4 min after the game revieled the other phantom to me, if he was smart when I was under attack he would have attacked or helped me. but he didnt and even after it relieved us he never allied with me so I lost. -
I'm definitely up for doing the Day[9] Funday Monday challenge.
I'll be on all Friday so just send me a message in-game.
Yay for lab work. -
The trick with phantom is to play with a friend...
I know some people think it's cheap, but everyone does it. And it's just a matter of playing under the radar. My trick as a phantom is to first... be protoss, all the other races really suck for this custom IMO, void rays are by far the most versatile unit, and stalkers are the best rush unit (if you want to be aggressive) just because you can warp them in so quickly and blink is ridiculously powerful versus early air (before they can get critical mass of voird rays, mutas, BCs). Then, rush for the high yield in the beginning so you don't need a bunch of probes to convince people that you are getting a ton of minerals (saturate the supply line with 24 probes on high yield) and cap off your probe production at 50 (get like 6 gas worth of probes = 18) and then slowly but surely mass up void rays with 4-5 starports (less suspicious) while chronoboosting out air and shield upgrades off 1 cybernetics core and one forge (also less suspicious ^.^).
Then hope and pray there aren't any other group of friends plotting against you and stay quiet, talking too much = suspicion, and just let people destroy themselves =D
Once you find out who your phantom ally is... DON'T INSTANTLY TRUST HIM (might be a friend's group) Wait till things are looking rosey for you guys (people killing each other off) and then help when attacks are close but you don't necessarily have to commit if people are attacking players across the map from you.
Also... super important not to build over 200 supply worth of units. Just wait till the number of players get thinned out before massing a crap ton of stargates to pump out additional void rays, do so only when they can't stop you. =D =D -
Also wanting to re-point out that I still get whispers on bnet from NBR peeps who aren't on the list, and I have no idea how to add them as friends! -
Henry Bollocks Notebook Consultant
The feature I find most [sarcasm]appealling[/sarcasm] is when a party member suggests a member who isn't on your friend list, there's no way to add him. :-|
So ... are you up for Funday Monday tonight? I'm supposed to go out of town tonight for Thanksgiving, but I'm trying to re-arrange everyone else's plans to suit my SC2 requirements. -
I may or may not be on tonight. I'll do what I can though. I'd really like to try a Phantom or Day9 map (although I have no clue what that is).
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Yeah I want to try both tonight. Going to go schedule the event on Steam now.

If you have 2 monitors just open the list on one monitor and the game on the other.
If you do not I suggest viewing the list in list view mode and printing it out as alt+tab is annoying for more than 2 or 3 names. -
Henry Bollocks Notebook Consultant
Last week's Funday Monday challenge was to play a 3v3 or 4v4, and at the start everyone publicly announces what one (and only one) unit he will use for the whole game. For supply and detection purposes, Zerg are allowed to make queens (I would think only for spawning larva, not for offence) and overlords/overseers, and Protoss are allowed to make observers, also. -
So we're about to do the "Call one unit to use the rest of the game" eh?
-
I really want to join but I'm usually not on Friday nights... and my computer is really bad at handling larger games
We'll see
-
Get the 5135 quickly
-
lawl... tell that to xoticpc! It's the 3rd day in phase 2, so if I'm really lucky maybe it'll ship out today? That'd be really awesome
But most likely it'll get shipped out sometime next week...
I really can't wait haha. Then I can start playing 3v3, 4v4, FFA and get all those corresponding achievements out of the way! -
yo userego/henry i wanted to play 1 more game but my computer crapped out (had to force shut it down). anyways, the lag was unbearable, but it was fun watching our force mow down the enemy in stop motion, rofl.
maybe when i get enough $$$ to get a sony vaio z i will be able to play this game more smoothly and play it alot more when this semester finishes.
