hey guys, quick question. folks at gamestop told me that starcraft 2 is a multi system game on one dvd. is that correct!? they told me I can install it on mac and pc if I want to. are there any restrictions on that!? lets say I install it on my mac, will I be able to install it later on on my pc!?
thx in advance -

Woot finally got my copy
I got 2 guest passes and when my EU copy arrives i'll have some more :3
-
Yes, that should be just fine.
-
Seems that SC2 has an overheating bug ._.
Apologies if this has already been mentioned earlier -
Despite that, I don't think it's a huge issue. I monitor my temps almost constantly and I don't go above 58C for CPU or GPU. It's all situational but for the most part, good cooling should overcome this problem.

The only way your system can overheat when left without a frame cap is if your system is not properly cooled and maintained.
Hardware is supposed to be designed (and is) to run @ 100% load without issues.
Those guys are noobs if they blame the game for it.
Let them fire up a OCCT torture test and watch it do 8x the damage in 1/8th the time
-
Who else is already excited about Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm!?!?
-
Think of it like WoW or any other MMO out there. There is a client which any computer can have, but to play it you must log in with your battle.net account that has your Starcraft 2 CD key attached to it.
-
Me! I love Zerg
-
I'm completely satisfied with the Terran campaign in WoL. Also, the amount of work Blizz put into the online play and play against AI more than makes up for any "shortcomings" in the Terran campaign. My complaints would only come if/when Blizz abandons pricing the expansions like expansions and asks me to pay another $60 for each of them.
-
They've already said it's not going to be $60. We're looking at the $30-40 range.
-
I am, just to see what happens to KerriganXRaynor.
But I am more excited about the Protoss Campaign, the best parts of the SP in SC2 are the protoss missions with Zeratul!
-
The AI can do like 500 APM avg. Sometimes itll just go over 2000...lol
-
It doesn't make it too good though. Even insane A.I. is consistently beatable.
-
It's preprogrammed APM though, isnt it? Also, the AI responds to your moves, cuz AI's already have blacksheepwall activated
-
well if ur top diamond, everyone is consistently beatable ;x
but yeah, at least its not as easy as sc1 ai.
this ai actually scouts all day and knows what to bring and fast. -
all blizz games can be played on mac and pc. doesnt require a cd to play either, unlike wc and every other game on the planet, which is nice.
ur registered copy can be used on as many systems as u want, but only one can play online at a time. Its pretty much the same as WoW. -

Gave up on Blizzard and just made a new account.
And I have to say I LoveLost Viking!!!!!!!! -
Wait a minute, SC2 doesn't utilize dual GPU systems? What is this 1998?
-
crossfire works just fine for me in SCII with 10.7's. Or at least both GPU's are getting hot while playing.
-
Serves you rich conceited SOBs right

Being young and having a summer job can do wonders
How can people not like this campaign? I love it! -
Your parents probably still feed and clothe you. And pay for your car, gas, insurance, and school. I never had a summer job that paid enough to cover a gaming laptop. Made just enough to pay for my car insurance.
-
they're were probably happier with the linear short sketches that were shoved into SCI, and having all 3 campaigns at once instead of a giant epic one in the initial release and the 2 expansions being campaign content (presumably) only.
-
Actually, I just liked the campaigns better in the first starcraft because...
... stuff happened. There was, like, a plot and stuff, and it moved forward and whatnot, and characters interacted.
None of that really applies in this new campaign of mediocrity. -
This post made me laugh aloud (out loud?), whichever is correct grammar.
When I had summer jobs at Gamestop/Eb Games, I made maybe 150 a week? So all went to paying for college apt+car insurance. F you 21st Century insurance for being a ripoff. -
lol so u made somewhere around 200 a month?
i had a summer job and had to pay for my insurance, but i was also able to by turntables, a mixer, a coffin, stand, speakers. all together about 2k.
mowing lawns in rich neighborhoods and washing cars at a car lot. -
it's Laugh Out Loud. I'm glad you laughed at my expense.
-
Just as a note, for kicks and giggles, I installed SC2 on my netbook: Core 2 Duo ULV 1.3GHz (SU4100), Intel GMA 4500MHD, 2GB DDR3, Win 7 32-bit. Ran at 1280x720 and all low settings. It actually played much better than I thought. You could probably do some 1v1 skirmishes and such if you wanted to kill some time. Pretty hilarious. Except it sucked up 12GB of space on my 40GB SSD. I'm not too fond of THAT! Think I might just put original SC on there for retro fun.
-
Wanna play vs my dinodesktop? I get a (teehee
) 20-25fps on 1v1. I get 500fps in cinematics during campaign, and up to 60 fps in the battlecruiser menu lobby thingy. LOLzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Also, quick question: When I rep you, do you see that I rep you? Or does it just happen? And how many reps must one get in order to get more power or more green square thingies? Cuz my Rep Power is 10, but I have fewer green squares than everyone else. -
What kind of FPS are you getting? I'm still using the original Dell drivers and I can only utilize one gpu right now.
-
Everything you want to know can be found here
-
it wouldn't surprise me if it's capped, in all in I only manage 30ish. Fraps just goes crazy most of the time
that's what I get most everywhere else. -
Well check this out:
Overheating Bug, MUST READ, Keep bumped! - Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty Message Board for PC - GameFAQs
Fixes the super high fps overheating your GPU. -
Guys, you do realize there's a bug that causes SC2 to overheat your video card. When you are in the game menu, there is no frame rate limit, so your video card puts all its power to render as many frames as possible, thus overheating itself.
http://gameinformer.com/b/news/arch...rd-confirms-starcraft-ii-overheating-bug.aspx
To fix it:
Open "Documents\StarCraft II\variables.txt"
Add the following two lines at the end of that text file:
frameratecapglue=30
frameratecap=60
EDIT, htwingnut beat me to it -
My cards never get above 70C in SCII.. that being said I did the cap anyway. I guess it would overheat them if they're full of dust bunnies or the HSF is just weak to begin with.

Aye, if you're overheating, then the "bug" is showing a problem with the Heatsink/Fan and cooling system for your GPU. SCII isn't doing something that OCCT or Furmark wouldn't reveal.
Also, to reiterate, don't forget to read: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty GPU & CPU Performance - TechSpot
Full performance review for retail SCII. Major points are:
#1. SCII is dual core only optimized. In addition cache and raw speed are very important. This just screams for the 920XM/940XM and throttle stop (dual cores ripping along at 3.2/3.33ghz and 8mb cache, mmmm)
#2. SLI/Xfire isn't working (as evidenced by the 5870 single GPU beating the 5870 Xfire and 480M SLI). This was also shown in the beta performance review. Hopefully SLI/Xfire support will be added in the future (or a bug fixed if that is the case). -
that's very odd that both my cards are loaded enough to run hot then..
-
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
Try disabling the slave card and see if your performance stays the same. -
i feel like 95% of all cgs are some sort of tower defense. i want some mazes damnit. and some sick rpgs. also where is that metal slug game and those third person shooters i saw on youtube.
-
half the fun is finding out where they are...
-
lol i love scrolling down the popularity system to finally find an interesting looking game only to have no one else join it
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
The game came out like 4 days ago lol, wait like 4 months and see how much we have. -
They are there, just no one plays them cause frankly the controls are so mushy. There is a huge Custom game showing already. And new ones every day. In fact the most popular are not just TDs. A bunch of Mazes and crap.
-
was there a new patch today or yesterday?
