Im going to create a thread & form/database for SC2 friends.
I am downloading the client now because I forgot to bring my disk with me to install it on my laptop.
Once that is done I will first create a tutorial on how to find your friend code so that nobody puts the wrong data on the form and then start a new thread dedicated to it.
You can see the same thing by clicking the BFBC2 link in my sig that I did for Bad Company 2

After playing for a while I felt unsatisfied with the game. It feels too much like im playing an updated version of the first game.

I know right?
Oh well give it to charity somebody will be happy.
Me so far I really like it. It stayed true to the original quite a bit while adding enough new lore/plot and minor changes to keep it interesting.
Lots and lots of video/voice in the campaign making it very enjoyable, its like playing a movie. I also like the new upgrade system that adds a bit more depth and variety to the game.
P.S. does anybody keep thinking of Tony Stark from Iron Man when they see Jim Raynor? lol esp earlier in the game when it was mostly just his face during the cut scenes. -
ok so far this game is pretty good. campaign is mad cheezy but still looks promising. graphics are meh considering its 2010 but its an rts so who cares and it is certainly an upgrade from the last one
. as of right now the game only seems to be lacking chatrooms and interesting custom games. yeah i know the game has only been out a day but still these cgs are terrible.
-
Link to that thread please.
Did you not play the beta? Did you not read the instruction booklet's story, and not expect it to remind you of the old one? I like it alot. I am, by far, not a hardcore SC player/fanboy. I enjoyed the originals because of UMS games, so I dont mind the upgraded graphics/possibilities of the new one. Hope you keep the game though
GG

I don't understand why they didn't include chat rooms into the game. They were a staple of online play.
-
Thanks, +1. May have to go that route if GS doesn't do squat for me.
-
lol! the computers say gg and surrender when you are about to beat them
-
Sigh im gonna say this in every thread huh. Its to limit the amount of jerks and griefers that plauge every un moderated chat room or forum. Personally i love it.
-
Why not just make it so you arent automatically placed in a channel when you connect, instead you simply have to join them. That way those who still want channels get what they want and those (like yourself) who wish to stay away from them can do so.
-
Agreed.
Btw, bucknasty, how's the performance on the E14? Are you able to achieve high/ultra? -
Agreed, that sounds like a fair compromise. I do miss chat rooms, on the first starcraft it was a good way to learn strategies for your race often times.
-
Also a great way to make friends, or have clan meetings.
-
Also good points, don't think i'll ever go with a clan but hopefully when ViciousXUSMC completes the form/database I can play with some NBR folks.
Also, game is freaking awesome! Well worth the wait to me
Haven't done single player campaign as i've always been more multiplayer oriented. But from all the screenshots i've seen I think i'll have to change my ways and give it a go. (plus i'm a sucker for cinematics)
-
didnt even bother with ultra because high was a little sluggish. medium runs beautifully though.

That form/database is done - Took a lot longer on this one that the other games since it was important to me and did a lot of photoshop work

Also if people miss chat rooms bad enough and consider it viable I was thinking about making a SC2 chat room. We have been having fun in our NBR Anime IRC chat room.
There are also other things like using steams overlay and joining the NBR Steam Gaming Group (I am the founder of that as well)

Wingnut it shouldn't be a problem getting your $20 coupon at Kmart for your next game purchase but if you have trouble, P.M. SHC-GAMER or SHC-GAMERGIRL at Cheap Ass Gamer - Cheap Video Game Shopping, Video Game Sales and Video Game Deals: CAG
They are the Kmart videogame reps who have gotten the company to seriously get aggressive in the videogame business. Kmart has been doing some crazy deals lately. I recently got Mass Effect 2 for $19.99 before all the recent price drops.
-
They already said they are adding b-net chat channels in a future patch.
-
Finished around 11 missions so far, but I`m playing some twice to get more achievement points.
Story so far is greeeaat

Just got the game this morning, and have been playing for about the past 2 - 3 hours, and it's awesome. Story is... well... a story. Played some free games, and going to get whooped on Battlenet some time tonight

I need to take my 2 weeks vacation just to play starcraft 2
I am really enjoying myself in the single player mission so far.
I like the feel of all the characters even if some people say its cheesy.
I lost a few achievements because bnet disconnected for some reason and I didnt realize it until after 3 or 4 missions later when I was wondering why I got no achievements when I met the requirements, but thats ok I dont care about those achievement points too much.
I want to know if you get something cool for doing good on the arcade in the bar. Its hard to play on keyboard and kinda feels laggy (not sure if thats how it is or maybe lag because I am on ultra settings) but if I find you get something worth while I am going to hook up my joystick and go at it until I beat it. -
the popularity system is annoying
-
Hey gang, I just bought the game today, took advantage of the Kmart $20 coupon deal. Do you have to setup up an account and be logged into Battle.net in order to play? Also does it appear playing with different races adds to the length of the game in SP mode?
I forgot to ask. There was a rumor you need to use your real name. If so can you create an account with a fictitious name like Dean Martin.
-
I don't recommend using a fake name when you register for battle.net. In game your name only shows up to others(unless on your realid friends list) as your chosen nickname. Using a fake name could seriously screw you over if you battle.net account gets compromised and you need to recover it.
Only terran single player this round, next year zerg(i think) and then 'toss. They are doing full xpacs for the other two races(probably 60 bucks each too, but they are meant to be full massive games for that price).
You have to set up an account(battle.net) and you have to log in online ONCE to verify you aren't a pirate(yarrr), once you do that it's all gravy, just no achievements. -

I can never get all three achievements for the first mission. I can't find the last statue thing.
-
Just picked up my copy today (regular version). It came with a cool Jim Raynor "wanted" notepad! Nice!
-
I setup an account when I registered Warcraft III Battlechest. The problem is I don't think I wrote any of the information down as I got the last update from them which in essence disable the DRM. How do I go about getting my account info?
-
Does anyone have a guest pass I could use. I want to see how my laptop will run the game before I go out and buy it.

I just played 3 ladder matches, all three of which I lost... Two as Zerg and one as Protoss. I need to brush up on my skills haha
-
Just bought SCII and a deathadder
Whats the game client? I'm downloading it and its 6.99GB :/
-
The campaign is rediculously fun and well made.
I stayed up and got through 10 missions on hard ( yeah im not cool to play brutal yet)
but it has been a blast. never thought it would be like this.
Not too much loading besides before playing missions. and that is great.
ummm well im just playing for fun right now in offline mode.
Hey quick question, to play against the AI, do u have to actually go and play online to get the maps?
Bc it says I dont have any maps when I go and try to play the AI...
cheers -
Campaign has been great fun so far, but is the load times between each level a bit long? Or maybe its just because there is a cut scene after every mission lol.
-
Load times are a jiffy for me! Of course, it's on SSD, so load times are bound to be shorter.
Still, they're shorter than Dawn of War 2, Crysis, Mass Defect, and most other games.
-
Just finished the campaign and the ending was awesome. It didn't leave any significant cliffhangers which I am happy about. Felt like an ending to a stand-alone movie. Think "The Hobbit", when it is over the story concludes, yet there is still another tale to be told i.e. "The Lord of the Rings".
-
wow already? the campaign must be pretty short.
-
Damn my stupid slow computer! To addicted to do anything about it.
-
How many levels are there?
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
I think there are either 28 or 29.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I think its 26 missions for the solo player mode.
-
One of those better not be some bullshi* Survive for 30minutes of zerg units attacking your small military outpost in the desert, which consists of a bunker, a supply depot, and another useless building. Otherwise, I'm gonna cry.
-
Well, without giving too much away, there IS a good tribute to the old Mar Sara level from the original campaign.
Shorter, though. -
does anyone have an unused guest pass? I definitely want to try this game out.
-
lol one of the first missions is like that. except not in a desert
the one mission that pissed me off the most is the lava mission lol -
It's not linear like previous SC campaigns, so it rather depends on your choices during the campaign . I ended the game with 25 missions completed, Blizzard has been quoted on saying that there are approximately 30 different missions total. Each takes between minutes for the early ones, up to an hour for the later ones. The main story is linear, but the interactions with the npcs and certain 'thingies' are optional.
-
There are 29 missions, 1 is secret, 6 are in pairs where you have to pick one or the other. It will not count the ones you miss because of choices against your missions completed count so it will say 26/26 missions completed if you only do one playthrough even though there are still 3 you missed. You don't have to play the entire campaign again to do the other 3, there is a mission select menu and you can load previous saves.
Most of the time you will have 2-3 missions to choose from at any given time, and besides the very obvious situations where you have to make a storyline choice between two missions you will never miss out on being able to do a mission if you do other missions first (except the final battle, which warns you). Since specific missions unlock specific units, the order you do them in and what upgrades you spend your credits on mean that in two different playthroughs you might have very different armies and be able to tackle missions in different ways.
Oh, and 4 of the missions...
Have you playing as protoss forces -
I thought that was pretty fun.
