I think they extended till 7th (not sure), probably you couldn't connect out of maintenance for the patch.

A week away and just guru3d did some benchmarks with desktop gpu, just in case someone is interested, seems Nvidia is wining ATI with current drivers.

TBH, Starcraft 2 just doesn't strike me as a game to be too flattered over graphics. I mean, it's very similar to Starcraft 1, which people have endured fine for over 12 years wtih 2D sprites.

Even on lowest settings it's a vast improvement over the original and you don't gain anything as far as gameplay with graphics on Ultra.

Im still debating whether or not I want to buy it. I loved the first one and the beta was fun but I don't know if I like the restrictions they've imposed.

I am referring to the no LAN capability and the single game being split into three parts to increase profit. Also, it pisses me off that they are pricing pc games the same as consoles now. Sure, it does make sense when a game is multi-platform, but a PC only game does not need to be priced at $60.

Agreed. That's Activision for ya. No LAN is a stupid idea... How will LAN parties work now? ACTIVISION. I've always wondered, when theres such an internet phenomenon of ANGER, do they see/know? It's kinda like how celebs have tabloids with bad stories of them, do they know?

    Hi!

Just wanted to tell you guys, the game arrived in the stores here and also I would like to share how the final SC2 boxes look like in Hungary:

    Normal
    [IMG]

There is a funny mistranslation too, "vagy tüzelj az Űrsugárral" translated to English it means "or fire the Spacebeam" :D :D (u know, the thing Void Rays doo)

    CE
    [IMG]

Also guys, which of the followings would you choose?
    -Buy SC2 CE
    or
    -Buy SC2 normal+Bad Company 2
    ?
(Hungarian buyers get a free SC2 mousepad for both versions)

It's not purely to increase profit. You'll still find plenty of single player content. They've also mentioned that they've focused completely on this game and its sequels aren't even in development yet. Don't expect to shell out more cash for at least a couple years.

Well, I do have a $25 gamestop gift card coming in the mail and I have been wanting to sell my old 360 games. Maybe I'll go sell them to gamestop and put the money towards reserving it.

Ya, that is the one aspect of WCIII that I played the most, the custom games. I especially loved the tower defenses. I always thought it would be awesome to see similar stuff done with starcraft.

We can start expecting first decent DOTA custom maps in less, than a month after the release....tower defense maps even sooner :)

There are already a bunch of TD's. I recommend Overrun and A Standard Tower Defense (Greatly inspired by WC3's Element TD).

I like STD (standard tower defense) Though it has some balance issues still. In the newest release strike towers > all, while in the old version warp towers > all.

I got so good at STD that at wave 49 I have like nearly 50k minerals saved up and then I dump it all into like 5 drain towers. Last game I played I killed like 550 swarmlings before I died on the 51st bonus wave.

I like the old Maul map types I think it started with Poke'maul those became really rare I guess because last time I installed WC3 to play some all I found was DOTA and a few other misc games. Maul died out.

So I hope SC2 gets some maul maps. I may end up being the person that makes them if I can remember how.

Does anyone here play the actual game in multi-player? The ladder can be daunting and demoralizing but Blizzard has stated many times that they're implementing training missions and what not specifically to ready people for 1v1 ladder.

If anyone does end up laddering, PM me or something.

Until they opened custom games I was playing the normal game and enjoying it more than I expected. I won probably over half my games.

I felt a bit stressed and high strung in 1v1 but in 2v2 I didnt stress as much because I knew it was not all about me.

I lost most more 2v2 though than I did 1v1.

I have not played since they unlocked 3v3 4v4

I'll try to play the normal game now and then but its hard to play it "casually" you either dedicate to it so your good or you just do not want to play. Since I am a custom game guy I do not have sharp skills for the normal game so I would be the person that would rather team up with some NBR members and go vs CPU or something :D

1v1 ladder is my primary game type.
    Customs are secondary.
2v2/3v3/4v4 is when I don't feel like trying and just want to mess around.

The way to ladder is to:
    1) Remember it's a game.
    2) Always try to get better, rather than blaming 'imbalance'.
    3) Remember that the match making system tries to get you to 50%. You will face guys much better than you. That should get better over time after release though as people play more games.
    4) Remember there won't be as much smurfing.

I guess its best that smurfing be done away with as it will stop most backstabbing. Though I have to say ill miss the luxury of having practice and goof around accounts.

I have also seen it held in shipping before until release.

someone leaked the CE online and when he put it in the computer to install it would not allow since it was not yet time.. not sure if you can adjust computer time etc.. but that prob won't matter since the game requires a one time activation online so servers would tell the time..

Doesnt look like the case since blizzard in the FAQ says to uninstall it before installing the original game. I'd suggest downloading the client (7gb) install it, update it and just use the cd as soon as the servers are up (27th).

I just pre-ordered, never played starcraft 1, but I love diablo so I trust blizzard. One thing that is worrying me though is that I am not quite good at these type games(I tried playing warcraft and I had a lot of trouble online and in the story, idk maybe it just takes practice....)

Here is how the normal SC2 will look like in the US: Normal SC2

And here is how normal SC2 will look like in Hungary: normal SC2 HUN

As you can see, considering the normal edition, Hungarian fans will get a "cheap WalMart edition"...big FAIL from Blizzard for allowing the distributor (BSC Kft) to ruin their nicely designed normal edition...

nice paper box+game in dvd case+colored manual VS dvd case only with black/white manual for the same price

    1 word: FAIL.

Hungarian forums are already full with flame. Good thing they didn't touch the CE.

    So I have a question:
My CE order is supposed to arrive on the 27th. The midnight release is on the 27th. Does that mean at 12:01 AM on Tuesday, essentially monday night, or 12:01 on Wednesday, essentially tuesday night? I'm just curious whether my order is going to arrive before or after the midnight launch

I doubt the post office will be making a 12:01AM delivery.

But retail copies should be activated Tuesday morning, and download copies at 10AM. That's probably Pacific Time, too.
