LOL, bought the game from Tetutato and saved at least 50%. I'm so happy right now since I'm in a tight budget.

I preordered at the Quakecon sale, so i think i got a bunch of games cheap too, plus that Skyrim helmet looks wicked on my TF2 Heavy. -
Everyone has probably seen this, but with the release looming I thought it was appropriate.

I'm getting Skyrim for $18, how much did he charge? -
It will be available in 12 hours in my country, is there any way to get it earlier or is steam somehow self attached to my time zone etc?
-
I bought it from Green Man Gaming, thinking I would get the key immediately so I could start preloading. NOPE.
-
Hahaha, tree_burner, that video was quite funny!
-
Actually, they just sent me the keys. Too bad I'm at work now.
-
$15-$18? Wow. Too bad it's cheapest $50 in USA!

After seeing the reviews, how the hell am i supposed to get anything done today.... Looks absolutely stunning, hope my comp handles it well

I for one am very excited to pick this game up. I have a combined 500+ hours on Oblivion. And I've only completed the main quest once.
Stoked! -

Looking forward to seeing people's experience of the game performance-wise. I tend to handle most console ports pretty well (see specs in sig) so hoping this doesn't break the mould...
-
-
Dammit, now I'm gonna have to go and spend $60...

Been playing Skyrim at a friend's house (he used VPN or something to unlock it early on Steam); it runs GREAT. His laptop is barely any better than mine (he has an ATI 5730 instead of a 5650 GPU), and he could run the game at 1080p, all settings on medium/high, and get a good (~40) framerate, except a little stuttering here and there due to glitches or whatnot.

That's reassuring, thanks for letting us know! -

I am running it on the laptop in my sig at 1920 x 1080 with everything set to high, AA and AF disabled and I get from 27-60 fps (27 fps was during the intro occasional stutters).
Outside I usually average around 40-60 fps. I am getting a constant 60 fps high up in the Mountains (BFS), So far I love the game, the menu and equipment is 100% better than oblivion and the place feels alive. It no longer feels like I am walking through a randomly generated fantasy environment, it feels like I am walking around in a living and breathing area. I
absolutely love it!
I laughed when a pack of wolfs attacked during a conversation while the person I was talking to had their back turned.
Edit: I almost forgot to mention that I find the Xbox360 controller more intuitive and easier to use than the mouse and keyboard. -
using the 360 controller... has anyone else found the audio to be quite low? (volume) my laptop speakers can fill a room but this is pretty quiet and it's on max

Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
I would have learned how to use a KBM for this game, but now that I know that it works perfectly with a 360 controller, I went ahead and bought it about 5 mins ago from Amazon

so far haven't played around with the settings at all... am using 1600*900 with fxaa enabled (post processing AA) and the global setting on "high" and it runs pretty well, 30fpsish, occasional stutters for some reason but that's likely to do with VSYNC being enabled and no visible way of turning it off
could prob get it running at 1080p with a bit of a play around but so far I'm just too engrossed in the story, been playing a couple of hours now and I'm about to fight my first dragon ;-) -
Man I love the mining/smelting/skinning/upgrading/smithing/enchanting systems.
The females in this game are indefinitely hotter than they were in Oblivion lol.
How much of a performance impact does FXAA have? -
I am already on a quest to recover stolen merchandise in Skyrim, it seems there are a huge number of quests and random attacks. I had a friend turn on me after I tried to steal too. Not only do I look forward to official patches (not found any issues yet though), I also can't wait to see what the modders come up with. I am so pleased with performance on this one too!
I am glad the weekend is almost here, will be able to have some quality gaming time. -
i agree so far im loving the game, the depth is great, and i love the crafting aspects of the game, really well done so far, looks fine, im playing on ultra settings @ 1920x1200 on the notebook in my sig......
enjoy it guys this could take some time to complete......oh how cool is the detail on the map....... -
Barely runs on my old hd 4670 @ 720p. I remember being surprised i could run Oblivion when it came out... Upgrade time?
Menus are great but I don't like how they're optimized for controllers =/
Many long snowy days will be spent exploring this huge world. I'm super stoked for the first mods too -
My Newegg tracking info updated and it won't be here until Monday.
I guess I'm going somewhere tomorrow to buy it.

I want to get this digitally. Is there any place that I can get it beside steam? I don't want to have to be online to play the dam game, and I know you can go offline on steam but you have to be online in the first place to go offline, and sometime you may forget and confuse about switching the two.
It such a drag. -
I have a question, I'm currently installing this for PC, and for some reason it's downloading it through Steam and says it'll take about 1 1/2 hours. Is this normal, and is there a way to get it to install directly from the disc?
-
Is Steam safe to do purchase with?
-
Ok guys, I've been playing Skyrim for less than an hour and so far it's crashed twice, i haven't managed to make through the torture chamber yet. Pretty put out.
This is on the Clevo with all settings defaulted to Ultra with AA off, drivers are the latest WHQL version. Anyone else having problems? -
Waiting in the line for the midnight release. VERY excited
for those of u guys who got it earlier due to timezones, how is Skyrim? Does it live up to the hype?
-
Ok so before I start should I play this game with an xbox360 controller or go with old mouse and keyboard? Because from IGN review it sounds like the interface on pc is not that great and the menu were ported from the console.
-
I can't find the CD Key in the computer instruction book. Can someone tell me where to find it? What page?
I looked everywhere. I think I bought one without the CD KEY. I'm livid. -
@dravena The CD key should be typed on a white stripe stuck below where the cd is placed in the case.
Just came home with the game. Installing at the momentHave not been this excited since Black Ops last year. Gotta say, I love the map that comes with pre-order. Very nice quality
-
No way. Mine didn't come with a CD Key then. This is lame.
-
This game is absolutely amazing. It improves on everything that was awesome about Oblivion, and fixes a lot of the stuff that wasn't. Combat is so much fun, and magic and bows are no longer a total pain in the *** to use. Haven't had any crashes or bugs yet either; can't say I ever would have predicted that from a Bethesda game on day one.
-
I'm getting this game tomorrow!!!
-
So here is first impression:
I didnt get too far yet though.
[edit] there seem to be more questions then answers xD
— World seem to be really big and immersive.
— Graphic is awesome on my mbp and it works without any glitch. No one is getting stuck, game doesnt crash, quests are not bugging etc.
— In fact i am amazed how polished it is compared to witcher2 for example.
— There is not a great variety of textures when you leave the town. Its expected ofc since you cant design all the stuff in between. Atmosphere effects like snow etc is amazing though and it really adds up.
— Combat system, still not used to it — so basically each weapon got one power attack? Sword and board seems to be the easy way but it seem to be lacking some flashy power moves. Gotto wait till i level up my skills mb it will get better. To sum it up, i liked witcher2 combat slightly better, and it lacks some flashiness from games like fable2 xD
— Still not sure how stealth thingies work, in general game might be lacking some "tips" in this department. From what i understood damage may be increased if you shoot bow from stealth but how to get close and use dagger i dunno
— Same goes for amor types, there seem to be no downsides of going heavy or at least i dont see any penalties like "you go armor, you loose dodge", so again not sure how it works.
— Failed to understand how to switch fast between weapon sets yet as well.
— Dragon fight, not to spoil anything but again it wasnt anything more then one could expect. Epic enough though.
— Craft — you learn recipes from investing perks as far as i understand. However i am not sure how do i level the skill itself. Crafting full set of armor hardly got me 1 skill point and i dont know where to find a lot of mats
Overall feeling is a lot like Fallout 3 — you feel sad, lost and lonely at first but it should start snowballing as you progress. And as i said i dont have too much to share yet as i only played for around 4-5 hours before i had to go to work xD -
I been playing all day and Skyrim is simply amazing.
Only crash i had was when i alt tabbed out of it. D;
(My fault)
Using Catalyst 11.10 WHQL on my HD 6970m.
