Ye, almost forgot — sometimes i am unable to get back into game and have to close it and re-open after i alt-tab.

I am loving this game so far!! Got it on the Dell in my sign since I'm still waiting on my new laptop to arrive. Even with reduced resolution and all settings on low I'm still impressed with it so far.

This game is awesome!!

Technically if you are playing with 1920 x 1080 with everything set to high, AA and AF disabled you are really playing the game on low setting look at the detail box. We have a pretty close setup my game was laggy on high setting at 1920 x 1080 i have the latest nvidia drivers i thought it would run in at least high with no problems. Apparently lowering the resolution solves the lag issues i will have to try that later. If the Xbox360 controller is really that big of an improvement over mouse and keyboard i might invest in a Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver although im pretty sure i will get used to the controls eventually

I was so tired last night that I only got to play for a little bit. The one thing that was irritating me is that y-sensitivity is a LOT lower than x-sensitivity and I can't figure out a way to change that.
-
Game is awesome, runs 100% smooth with no issues what-so-ever on ultra high detail @ 1080p with full AA and AF.
In case anyone encounters an issue where the game crashes after the Bethesda logo plays when you start the game, go into your audio output options in control panel and make sure you aren't outputting at 192kbps. I couldn't believe it when I installed the game and it was crashing to desktop, but setting my audio to anything BUT 192kbps output fixed it immediately. -
for alt tab, I just alt tab again and it works fine.
My main complaint is the menu system. It's very much made for a controller and unintuitive for a mouse. Why can't I click to where I want to go instead of having to scroll and/or use wasd to navigate?
Other than that, good stuff. -
Damn I bought this game earlier today just to play, however I am getting this error message (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim cannot be installed yet, because it is not yet released) when trying to install it on steam. Anyone can help? Btw, I am using the Asia version of the game. Can anyone tell me if the release date of the Skyrim which is 11.11.11 is across all region?
I am using a PC disc version that i bought from a retailer. -
What country are you in?
-
Anyone know what detail level on the PC would be equivalent to the graphics of the Xbox version? I'm curios how much extra eye candy we are getting.
-
AA is usually a waste of time at 1920 x 1080 and I usually disable AF because I don't like the way it looks. When I say everything on High, I don't mean the preset, I mean all set to high manually and all detail sliders to max so I guess some settings are Ultra too.
-
Asia - Philippines bro, do you know the release date for other regions like ours?
-
Well, Japan is December 8, but it should be out everywhere else, I would contact Steam support and ask them, they can at least get to the bottom of it.
-
Ohh my! December 8 is very long!
shocked upon seeing this, anyways thanks a lot bro for your assistance regarding this (+ rep for you).
-
I only have a GTX460m, so should i go console or pc regarding grapshics?
Thanks in advance -

I can live without AA on newer generation titles that dont suffer the same jaggie problem old games used too (think things like low res fences) but AF?? Oh man I need AF its what keeps textures from having a hard wall of quality change based on your current DOF it would drive me nuts to turn it off and unlike AA its a pretty small performance hit.
Game works multi-monitor, I will probably need AA off just to keep frame rate high when playing 5940x1200 -
PC. Your 460 will probably hardly break a sweat.

Many thanks hockeymass

Can anyone playing this using a 6770m tell me how the game runs? Would be dissapointed if performance is choppy cause im really foward to playing it on at least medium...ish...=\ Thanks in advance!
-
I was running it on high at 1080p and it was slightly sluggish. I'm going to try it tonight on high at 768p and see how that runs. You should definitely be able to run it on medium at 768p, maybe even 1080p.
-
Sluggish meaning unplayable? What average fps were you getting? Mayble at 768p it could be smooth as silk. Hope you can tell me how it runs at that res. Thanks
-
-
Definitely not unplayable, just not as snappy and fluid as I like. I expect that it will be supersmooth at 768p. I will let you know later.
-
Hmm, my desktop chooses high settings with auto detect. Will see how that compares with ultra. Then I'll try it on my laptop.
-
My dv6t chose high on autodetect as well.
-
So what do your characters look like? I wish there was a way to view or edit at any time.
I made a red haired blue eyed puffy lipped skinny Nordic chic with the name Sydney. For some reason I like having women kick butt. Just not mine.

From what I have gathered, provided that you have a capable CPU (Skyrim does require good cpu power, but it is limited to 2 threads only so any good clocked dual core should do the trick) the following trend shoudl apply:
GTX480m/485m/570m/580m and HD6970/6990m
1920x1080 ultra settings with smooth enough performance.
GTX460m/560m and HD5850m/HD5870m/HD6850m/HD6870m
Up to 1920x1080 high settings with smooth enough performance (min 30fps) Can try Ultra but will get sub 30fps average in some places.
GT555m and HD6770 or below in the performance realm:
Should try medium settings because it gives a major performance boost. The afore mentioned can try high settings at lowered resolutions. In medium settings it should be playable up to 1920x1080 (provided you have GDDR5 versions of the cards).
Medium settings work for a lot of older hardware and provide playable performance even with older hardware. -
Yeah off to buy that 570M before playing Skyrim..
From the videos I`ve seen, Ultra settings looks pretty amazing -
Mine is a dark-haired, browneyed, goateed Imperial dude with warpaint over one eye and scars on his cheek. I named him Robb.

D: 57% downloading. Will test on my desktop GTX 580 with Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8Ghz (3.0Ghz OC'ed) and let you guys know.

I'm really considering buying this, but I'm doubtful if my system can run it.
W7 HP
4GB RAM
i5 2.6 dual core
Nvidia Geforce 420m 1gb
What do you think?
If not I'll get it on the xbox, but I would prefer PC. -
Is this game still fun on PC even though it a console port?
-
Not sure mate, but any game low on PC with full AA and AF look a hell lot better than console graphic.
-
I'm sure you can run it. I'm playing it on the Dell E6500 in my sig. All settings on low and averaging around 20fps. 20fps isn't the greatest, but I'll live with it so I can play while I wait for my new laptop to arrive. Remember that this is an RPG, not a FPS so its not as important to be able to average 60fps.

TO ALL THE GUYS ASKING IF THIS WILL RUN:

Yes it will run. Worst disappointment this year in terms of graphics. -

From the UESPWiki, it looks like your GPU is on the low/medium settings. Quote: These cards should run Skyrim, with the right tweaks you could probably get them to look as good as the console version. The farther you get down the list the closer you are to low end.
Your GPU is on the top of that list, so you can play medium settings.
This link is also neat for all others looking if their GPU is good enough for Skyrim

Lots of games are still fun on the PC even though they are console ports.
-
Takk for hjelpen!
Thanks for the help!
I may give it a go on my PC, graphics quality isn't such a big thing for me tbh. As long as the frame rate is half decent it should be okay. -

I had a chance to play it on Xbox as well as PC (1920x1080, all settings maxed except I think AA reduced to 8x).
It was a night and day difference. The Xbox version already looked fantastic, but on PC at high res it is a really breathtaking game.
Absolutely worth it, this is probably the most fun game I've ever played. Plus, of course, there will be thousands of mods developed for this game, so it's a much better value on PC. -
Troll alert.
-
Finally! it starts updating into my steam client at last! after that dreadful "The game cannot be installed, due to the game is not yet released" message
-
OH MY GOD WHAT A HORRID LOOKING GROUND TEXTURE!
I am unamused by your post. -
I'm not surprised the nvidia nvs160 in my dell isn't listed anywhere on there. Lol.
-
Ohhh noooh! again another problem I found, when launching the game either on steam nor the desktop icon, during the loading screen (showing the dragon), it automatically closes the game for no reason.
Guys any idea about this one? -
Verify the integrity of your game files. If that doesn't work, try updating your video drivers. If that still doesn't work, I don't know
-
Hmm okay will try to do this in steam, I am using the latest drivers from Nvdia which is (285.79) the game detects my laptops settings and prompt a message to set it to high though. Will just check once this validation completes.
Edit: After validation, still the issue persists, I tried to click into the Tech Support on one of the options, but the page cannot be displayed.
-
are you running afterburner? my game would always crash until I closed afterburner. all go after that.
-
Control Panel>Sound> whatever speaker is active, click properties>Advanced Tab>change the default format to 24bit 44100Hz, doesnt like higher quality options for some reason. Let me know if that fixed it, worked for me.
-
@pinoyxpryde - No bro, I don't have Afterburner software installed to my laptop.
@narsnail - Thanks man will do this advice and will let you know how it goes. Currently I reinstall the game again waiting for it's completion hoping this issue to be fixed.
Edit: I noticed mine has 24bit 192000Hz (Studio Quality) selected, do you think if I lowered this settings, does it might affect the sound volume of this computer? (Sorry for the stupid question
).
