destruction spells in this game sucks, I regret ever investing perks in that line. Conjuration/alteration on the other hand are great trees, most perks are very relevant and does alot for your character.
-
-
I just think the destruction spells scale horribly.
-
Can you be more specific as to how conjuration / altering are cool? Thinking about starting over as a mage some day.
-
I use conjuration to summon a sword to fight with. It lasts me for like 2 minutes, and it does a good bit of damage with some one handed perks. My character does not carry actual weapons.
-
Ugh, another game where it doesn't auto-save every few minutes. Spent like 30 minutes running through mountains killing stuff. Then found a giant and thought, hmm maybe I should try. Hits me so hard, all I see is my dead body floating through the air. And bummer, did not quick save before.
-
It autosaves every 15 minutes by default, and you can change it.
-
Investing deep into magic to fight with a sword, and you consider it cool?
-
I use bound sword and destruction magic. And I haven't actually put all that many points into conjuration. Don't be a jerk.
-
I don't think he was being a jerk. I'm just as perplexed as he is. Does seem odd, not cool.
-
Look on it in the context:
0. We discussed how cool stealth archery and head chopping with sword is.
1. People started to discuss magic
2. Agreed that destruction scales really poorly and isnt too fun in general
3. Then you came in saying that alteration + conjuration are really cool when it comes to magic.
4. So i asked
— How is it cool?
— Well you can conjure yourself a SWORD and use second hand to cast DESTRUCTION spells.
Thats really hilarious xD sorry didnt meant o offend you or anything. -
How is it "odd"? It's a role playing game, you do what you want.
I never said destruction wasn't fun. Shooting lightning from your hands is a lot of fun. It just doesn't do as much damage as I'd like. -
If I wanted to use a controller, I would have bought the PS3 version !
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Yeah, but then you'd be sacrificing graphics
My setup works best for me: Computer + Wired XBOX 360 Controller. I don't have to learn how to use KBM (though I will have to, at some point), and at the same time I enjoy jaw-dropping graphics
Mr. Mysterious -
I do the same thing. For most games that aren't an FPS, I'll install them on my HTPC and play them with a controller. I'd much rather play in 1080p with everything on high than at 720p with everything on low, especially on a 55" screen. There's also no getting up to change disks.
-
Just have to post again I am *&@%ing loving this game.
The Graphics/atmosphere is better than any other RPG I have ever played and in my opinion is way better than The Witcher 2, which I find to be dull after a while.
When I judge a game, I don't just look at the graphics as a single, all important factor. Instead I look at the graphics and how they fit the mood and theme of the game, how the gameplay incorporates these graphics and how well they match.
I think Bethesda did an amazing job in it's choices, and the result is turning out to be my favorite RPG of all time, even better than Fallout 3 (with mods) and Oblivion (with many more mods). I spent countless hours on those games, but only really enjoyed them after applying the mods.
I can't even begin to imagine what this game will become once the TES Nexus starts filling up with mods for this game
-
Exactly
Works great for Skyrim
-
hooked my notebook up to my HDTV and using my new Razer Onza Home | Onza | Razer | For Gamers. By Gamers. to play and loving every minute of it.

Same here, except I'm sitting on my sofa, using a wireless trackball mouse and the razr Nostromo NumPad
Works really well with Skyrim's UI. -
The only issue I have with Skyrim's UI is that sometimes it ignores where my cursor is. It will pick up the click, but it doesn't always click on what my mouse is over. There was another game recently that was the same way, but I can't quite remember. It might have been DXHR.
If I had a comfortable couch I would play on my TV with a controller, but my apartment is sadly couchless at the moment. -
Yeah that's really icky.
After a while I just get used to using the WASD instead of the mouse for menu navigation, much MUCH more precise, and arguably faster too. -
Agreed. I posted this in the Skyrims ugly thread already. It took a little to get used to, but now that I am I also think its faster using wasd instead of the mouse.
-
Hey guys I can't find these settings in my SkyrimPrefs.ini file. I have the steam version.
iWaterReflectHeight=512 / iWaterReflectWidth=512 -
I don't like the way they do werewolves this time. I hope a mod is made that will change the once a day for 2 1/2 minutes thing if you choose into the way werewolves were in bloodmoon. Transform every night whether you like it or not and need to feed every night to keep up your strength.
-
Yeah I agree, werewolf in Skyrim right now is basically a once-a-day super saiyan mode, with no downside (it has a sleep penalty but who the heck sleeps?).
-
adwilk1231, you will find them under water they should be there, I've changed both of mine to 1024
-
I'll take a look when I get home. Thanks for the reply.
-
I don't really like being a werewolf too much, so I'm glad they didn't make it a mandatory change. I find it easier to fight normally.
-
I think you are misunderstanding bud. We aren't saying everyone in the game should be a werewolf, but if you choose to follow the quest line to become one then the change should happen every night. They completely ignored the werewolf lore from bloodmoon by basically turning this into a perk that can be used on demand instead of a "disease" like they kept it for the vampires.
Those that don't like being a werewolf don't have to do the questline to become one. -
And I'm saying I like having the option to be a werewolf but also like having the option to not be one.
-
Gotcha.
you threw me off when you said you don't like being one.
-
Sometimes it's cool. Like the
quest to wipe out that enclave of Silver Hand. But I couldn't kill Krev in werewolf form, he was beating the hell out of me. So I ended up having to wait until it wore off and then I smoked him.
It's awesome for wiping out hordes of anonymous lackeys, but some of the named baddies just do too much damage to go toe to toe with without potions or any sort of healing aside from eating bad guys. Maybe it's just me. -
When these moron game developers decide to destroy their game with bloom overload, they really ought to put in an option to allow players to disable it. Bethesda fail.
-
Eh I think they didn't want to force everyone who did the fighters guild quests to be a werewolf.
-
Eh I like bloom, it's a performance-cheap way of adding atmosphere and hiding bad textures.
-
Heh, I just created a zombie pack mule to fast travel all my cave stuff (2000 lbs+) back to town in one trip.
-
moviemarketing Milk Drinker
doesn't it turn to ashes after 60 seconds? -
Yep, it completes the fasttravel trip, then turns to ash at the towns entrance with all you stuff in it.
-
This is brilliant.
-
You can talk to your summoned creatures and access their inventory?
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Well you could do this. Kill something outside in Skyrim, shove the crap in their corpse and then reanimate them and fast travel. -
Interesting...
Any corpse will work right? Even ones like say deers or crabs. -
What do you guys think of this magical map. As it stands, I feel the map needs improvement but I think that mod goes too far haha. Of course you can also use a console command / cheat to do the same thing (apparently).

It's limited in that the only area that renders like that is the area you're standing in, so not too great.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015

Werewolves - The Dark Ages
I'm anxiously waiting for this mod. Sounds like this would be awesome if he is able to do it. -
I thought people only changed into a Werewolf during a full moon, which doesn't happen every night !
Someones been watching too much Twilight !Attached Files:
-
-
Stupid question should I be updating the file in the steam folder or in the my games folder. Thanks.
-
The .ini in your steam folder contains the defaults. Only change it in your games folder unless you want to change the default settings
-
I kinda use my Werewolf form as a cheap mount and it also skips the max limit on inventory, so i can still run while carrying a s***load of random items. xD
-
I just got myself some items of "hauling" plus some strength potions.
-
Someone doesn't read. Have you played the Bloodmoon expansion for Morrowind? Apparently not or you would know what I was talking about in that post. In the TES lore, not American horror stories, werewolves change every night. If I liked Twilight I would be happy with the current setup cause it lets us change at will like in that movie. I don't care if you don't agree with me. Just pointing out that my view has nothing to do with Twilight, but with previous TES lore.
Remember, real vampires don't sparkle.
