Your system is running hot.
Turn on Vsync if you have not, then clean out your heat sinks and stuff if dust has built up. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Also would be nice to know the temperature he is getting though. My m17x-R3 blares like a jet when it only hit 75C Maximum in games. -
What temperature should I be worried?
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Anything GPU. GPU-Z shows just the temperatures of the GPU. -
Where can I turn on the Vsync?
-
Just power level smithing. Probably easiest skill to level... just keep making iron daggers and selling them back.
I got my smithing to 100, and got dragon scale armour when my one handed was like 30 or something
-
after an hour of playing, my GPU temperature is running at 70 degrees. Is this OK?
-
It's more than OK, its great. Nothing to worry about at all
-
Hey guys just got a question, on my second/third play through, going pure 1 handed warrior this time (and not going to learn magic, I promise
)
Just wondering what any fellow warriors have as enchantments on their armour? I have the buff to one handed enchantment, but should I go for this or health/stam regen or health/stam buff?
Or is there better stuff out there? -
I am playing on 1.3 and i do get the souls after killing dragons. Is this just for some ppl?
-
Yes...when you play games, your CPU and GPU work hard, and that generates heat, which causes the fan to run to vent the heated air out of the laptop. This is a common thing.

I thought 1.3 specifically fixes the dragon soul issue? It's listed in the patch notes.
I experienced that only once, quite some time ago, but after updating to 1.3 I haven't experienced that again. -
I use straight up buffs, +20 heath on my armor and ring, +20 stamina on my boots, and I think +20 magicka on my gauntlets and helmet.
In the rare event that dragons will actually fight me, I do get souls from them. Usually they just fly around and eventually get bored and leave, even if they fight other stuff around me and I use Dragonrend. -
I love the Viking'ish setting. So Skyrim above all other settings of Singleplayer RPG games - especially Planescape, that setting just simply confuses me. (what is it.. fantasy, steampunk, RL.. Sci-fi? ugh..) So no, loving Skyrim's vibe and setting quite a bit!

The new update is out on Steam, which includes the 4GB patch:
Mine just finished downloading.

Does this mean the default Steam executable is now supporting use of 4GB memory, or would I still need to install the 4GB LAA patch separately? -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I guess it is integrated now. So just fire up the game normally and it will be fine. -

Often I can only get their attention with arrows to their knees. I waste a lot of arrows this way, though, because most of them miss. -
I'm not a computer genius, but the comments in that FB page are just plain stupid. lol
I hope the patch would fix the crashing issues. -
Do you recommend me to get update 1.3 or just still lay low for now?
-
Getawayfrommelucas Notebook Evangelist
So far the update seems pretty safe. Especially with the 4.0G patch, no crashes! -

I think you are safe with updating to 1.3.
-
Mine is still crashing with the new 4GB update. This is really frustrating.
-
that sucks, one of my friends has the same problem. interesting

If you have a lot of mods installed, I wouldn't update unless you are certain they work with the patch.
Otherwise, patch away! -
I just started playing this, and its surprisingly more fun than Oblivion. I didn't even finish the first 15 mins of oblivion. Anyway how do you learn more spells? It seems like magic kills people so fast.
-
guys how can you change the mouse sensitivity setting in skyrim?
-
Spell tomes. They're books that teach you a new spell. From the outside, you can usually recognize them by the logo of a school of magic on the cover. Outside of random dungeon loot, you can find them for purchase from most court wizards. Farengar in Whiterun has several to sell.
-
Don't know if it's been posted in the past 100+ pages... but someone over on reddit found an amazing easter egg. Ill throw this down here... It's possibly the most indepth one I've ever seen.
POPTARTBURNR comments on You know those runes on the lids of the bug jars? I translated them, and guess what? They're some kind of summoning ritual. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Cue X-Files Theme...
I sense a conspiracy or a coincidence... -
Yeah, magic is kinda OP at lower levels, but IMO at higher levels with top armour + really powerful enchantments, melee gets really powerful as well.
If you are focussing on magic, go join college of winterhold - eventually you will be able to purchase some VERY powerful spells there. -
"As well"? With maxed out abilities and enchantments, you can kill almost all enemies in anywhere from 1-4 hits. 1 hit for pretty much anything if you also make sure to quaff potions to buff your 1H/2H/Archery damage.
With magic, however... it takes a day and a half just to damage anything when you're at level 50. Magic damage doesn't scale other than from potion effects, which is a bad thing in a game where enemies scale so dramatically. -
Greetings guys. Oh i never use mods (Oblivion and Fallout III too
). Thank you so much, i'll update to 1.3 then.
-
Barely had this problem when playing mage (I played at second hardest difficulty as dragons were kinda annoying at hardest
)
Used to conjure two dremora lords and just sit back as they rip through virtually everything... now and then throwing a destruction spell here and there -
Finally a patch for cpu optimization in Skyrim..
The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim – Acceleration Layer offers CPU optimization; up to 40% performance boost | DSOGaming | The Dark Side Of Gaming
Article says it works, going to test it out now..
Edit: another link - http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1321657-tesv-acceleration-layer-offers-cpu-optimization-massive-possible-performance-increases-now-in-skse-plugin-format/
Edit: yup it works.. and works pretty well..
I tested in whiterun standing on the steps coming down from the reach looking upon the tree.. there used to be a huge unexplained drop in fps there.. after this patch/mod it went from 20 to 28-30.. so definitely a step in the right direction. Fps still drops suddenly there but not as much -
That's just... embarrassing...for Bethsoft. You actually have to go out of your way to write x87 code (who writes in that anymore?). Just write in standard C or SSE if you need more performance. Combined with all the software bugs and whatnot we have is starting to lead me towards thinking that the developers are a lot of sissy-butt programmers stuck in their ways and unwilling to believe they can make mistakes.
Then again the game is sadly a console port.
It's pretty obvious to me the code is broken (poor performance) and I'm not sure I'd touch a patch like that as it is definitely re-writing some major bottleneck of code that affects a large portion of the game. The developer did not have any information about the source code or the API he was modifying, etc, etc. Great effort to show that it can be done but I wouldn't deploy this to the masses in this form. -
I see a big trollface grinning at Bethesda now. :3
Thanks for sharing this. -
I just tested this and I confirm that it works. Before I was getting pretty playable fps while in stereo 3d on maxed settings. Now with this patch I get 30ish average fps while in stereo 3d...YES!!!
-
I have no idea what I'm doing with my character. It looks like I'm going for a sneak archer build. I can't seem to find any better bows, anyone know where I can get better bows? I'm lvl 23 right now and explored all over the place. In windhelm right now with a crappy dwarf bow.
Also pickpocketing is broken...so cheap...lol -
I don't think its that easy to 'find' one... go to that orc mine, get ebony ingots, rank up smithing and make an ebony bow... daedric if you can find/afford daedra hearts... and then UPGRADE the bow
You can also quite easily upgrade your dwarf bow - rank smithing high enough and you can quite easily find dwarven metal bits underground that you can smelt...
Its odd, but yeah, can't remember ever bumping into powerful bows in my travels
-
Oh ok. Um, any idea where I can sell stolen goods? My inventory is full of stolen crap and I can't find a buyer lol.

If you've joined the thieves guild you can go hit the fence in each town or cruise over to Riften to sell.
If you have not joined....join = ) -
After the new update, it really did improved the gameplay including the bug fixes.
Any guys here who defiles the Dark Brotherhood? I'm not quite comfortable killing innocent people... so i entirely wiped them out (it gave me a hard time though, all members of the assassins are very powerful especially when you're strong.. i'm at level 42.) It's a shame though, i never got a chance to summon Lucien and ride Shadowmere..
BTW, Nord here, sword-and-shield/dual-wielder build.. i kill Dragons with dual-wield and for the others i go for sword-and-shield.
I only need 6 more Dragon Bones to smith a full set of Dragon Plate. I'm a bit disappointed though cuz no Dragon weapons at all... -
I had absolutely no problem icing the bags they sent me out to kill.
-
Asked to find one among the three to kill? I killed all 3.
-
Guys, what's the best way to level your enchantments? Buying gems are so expensive.
-
Getawayfrommelucas Notebook Evangelist
There isn't really a best way to do that without a lot of money or by using console commands. My advice - just enchant your weapon of choice with soul steal. You just need it to last 1 second because the goal is to get the finishing hit on what ever you're killing. Also dungeon crawl...a lot, Skyrim really rewards you if you dungeon crawl -
Do the following Quests:
1) House of Horrors -- Gives you a wicked mace that has soul steal
2) The Black Star -- Gives you a black soulstone that never gets used up!
Then:
1) Kill bandits, etc, with your Shiny New Mace
2) Use the Black Star to replenish the charge on your mace
3) rinse and repeat
