Is there any tweaks for the lighting or something. Can someone suggest what settings to lower because inside the theives guild and any house with a lot of lighting, i get around 25 fps but for some reason the camera movement is ridiculously choppy. For 25 fps it shouldn't be that choppy because outside its smooth.

Helmet: Archery, Waterbreathing (on the assumption that you don't use any spells)
    Cuirass: Health, Stamina
    Gauntlets: 1-Handed, Archery
Boots: 1-Handed, (Muffle/Sneak/Carry/Stamina/Resist, whichever floats your boat)
    Shield: Resist Magic, (Block/Health)
    Ring: Resist Magic, 1-Handed
    Amulet: Resist Magic, 1-Handed

Alternatively, you can swap one of the Ring or Amulet 1H enchants out for an Archery enchant, since most enemies will be dropped in a single hit anyway.

This is the best Skyrim tweak guide IMO.

He has a few suggestions for tweaks to the .ini file to boost performance and breaks down what kind of performance hit the various settings result in.

There is also a new "Acceleration Layer" optimization mod that has resulted in up to 40% improvements to framerate; however, it requires use of the Skyrim Script Extender and it might be best to hold off on installing until after Bethesda has finished the first few rounds of official patches.

Today I felt like playing on my Laptop's display and went from my projector's 1280x720p 4x AA to 1920x1200 no AA and I'm surprised at how smooth the game runs, still hitting above 30 fps average. I forgot how nice playing in 1200p was, the game looks a lot more crisp than on 720p when the 3d isn't active.

can anyone point me in the right direction, I'm level 32 nord maxed out heavy armor, I mainly use melee attacks and have had no issues just bashing my way through bad guys up until last night i came across a quest where there was a wizard that used shock damage against me and I dropped like a fly, what enchantments and where can I get weapons that have enchantments already on them that are worthy like 14% less magicka damage or along those lines, I've looked everywhere and haven't found anything that was worthy to buy and disenchant

There are quite a few different boots, shields, potions, necklaces etc. that provide resistance to shock or magic. I carry around three different pairs of boots for frost, fire and shock resistance.

Also Ysgramor's shield and various necklaces provide magic resistance. There is some other sort of artifact shield that has a magic spell ward when blocking, but I haven't found that one yet.

I'm also playing a melee warrior and the best approach for spell casters seems to be to stagger them and interrupt their spell. You can do this with 2handed weapons or a shield by holding down block and hitting (or holding) the attack button. Or use slow time or ice form and try to take them out very quickly. Most of my 2-handed power attacks also seem to stagger them unless they have a spell ward active.

If you're a sword and shield user you should get the last perk of blocking. You can send enemies flying and whack them while they're down.

    Yeah stagger works very well.

Also consider poisons that drain magicka - fairly common, and a couple of hits and he pulls out his puny dagger against my 110 damage ebony sword with fire enchantments :D

At times I just try to kill people with my shield alone :D

I just started playing the game and went with a Nord. I'm pretty keen on a two handed hammer build and thus far I seem to own pretty much everything at lvl 10. My char seems to like one hit kill animations a lot :D.
Do you guys have any recommendations? Also for early game? :D

This is just my personal preference, but I'm enjoying exploration a lot after disabling the compass.

    (Changed bShowCompass=1 to bShowCompass=0 in the SkyrimPrefs.ini)

also I found slowing down the timescale by 50% made the passing of day and night feel a bit more natural. (Console command "Set timescale to 8") otherwise it was almost distracting how quickly day and night would pass.

Also, playing as a 2-handed warrior this time I'm skipping all of the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, College of Winterhold quests and saving those for next time when I play a mage or assassin character. Leaves some cool content to look forward to. I'm not doing any enchanting, magic spells, alchemy, archery, sneaking, pickpocket or lockpicking. You can tell your followers to pick locks for you and they have a random chance to open Novice, Apprentice, Adept and Expert locks. (I don't think followers can open Master locks)

I have started the civil war and it is a lot of fun. I'm not sure if I will complete the main quest with this character, but I have completed most of the Companions quests and a little bit of the main quest.

There is a certain part of the very beginning of the main quest that gives you all three words to Fus Ro Dah - this is very helpful so you can knock enemies off a cliff with your voice.

You could travel between cities for a bit and poke around armour vendors and general stores to see if anyone's selling some resistance gear for you to wear/disenchant. You could also try looking in alchemy shops for some Resist Shock potions.

Not really important, but if I'm not mistaken the default value of timescale is 20, and not 16.

Also, if you're a fan of Fus Ro Dah, you may enjoy this:

I finally got my Smithing up past 90 and made full Daedric armor, sword and mace, and improved them all to Legendary and enchanted all of it. I finished the main quest a while ago, working on the civil war now.

Smithing is pretty boss. Mine is still sort of low level (just made a set of Exquisite Dwarven Armor), but I like being able to make my own stuff. Did you put perks into enchanting?

thanks for the tips everyone, I would like to just say one thing I **** hate magic, magic is for p****s lol I don't have many issues now, my health is like 450 armor rating of 890 without enchantments, I'm pretty much a wrecking ball and now that I've been using the daedric shield and sword I haven't even been close to even 75% health and I've been doing some dungeon quests, like I just did the one with the three dauger brothers and they didn't put not even a scratch on me, plus my companion mage seems to be just as wreckless she drops most enemies with ice spikes and fire or shock damage, I let her deal with the p***y magic while I stab people's guts out

Nope. All my perks thus far have gone into Smithing, One-Handed, Destruction, Restoration and Block. I kinda regret wasting some on Destruction and Block, as I never really use magic and I stopped using a shield in favor of two weapons a while ago, but it's not a big deal.

Protip: go to Whiterun, buy all of the iron ingots and leather strips available from both of the Warmaiden's shopkeepers (they each have their own inventory), and Eorlund from the Skyforge. That should give you enough to make at least 30 to 40 iron daggers in one go. Smith them at either the Warmaiden's forge or the Skyforge, and you'll get a few levels at a time out of it, and sell the daggers back to Eorlund or Warmaiden's. Their inventory respawns in three in-game days, so you can do it over again.

I've been doing that, except with leather bracers and I just use the hides and pelts that I find. What's the base buying price for Iron Ingots? I know leather strips are supercheap.

kick it up a notch and make about 4000 gold, buy an enchanted weapon in solitude that will allow you disenchant to learn Banish, craft out those iron daggers, enchant the daggers with Banish and sell them to the goods store in riverwood after you've invested in him (given him 500 gold) and he will have 10000 gold every 48 hours so you can keep selling you iron daggers to him and make like 1100 off each iron dagger, I've done that a couple times and I have about 120,000 gold

Do you have the Dragonstone in your inventory? If not, you probably forgot to loot it at the end. Go back in and go to the end. The boss you killed at the end probably has it on his body.

Lol. If there's one thing I learned from playing Elder Scrolls games, it's that if you find a guy at the end of a dungeon, he's probably got something worth taking. When I looted him, I was like "what is this rock? Oh well, better take it just in case!" Then I went to Whiterun and the wizard was all like "go get me the Dragonstone!" and I was like "oh you mean THIS Dragonstone?" and then I did a trollface.

Loving this Game; I decided to get it during last Steam sale. New Quasimodo ;). I’m playing very smooth, no hiccups or sticky mouse, with high settings. Stock with i5/560M @ 1600x900 native. This thing is hurting my old FX.

First time around I’m using Sneak, bound bow with a drop or two of frost spider poison for the pesky dragons (9 to14 shots at my level 22). Most other critters are one shot head kills which really bump up my conjuration and archery skills Like Oblivion, sneak mode is always on unless in friendly towns, which makes it easy..

I’ve broken a few minor quests by speaking to wrong NPC out of turn, so I would jump back and fix it by speaking in different order; like the bartender before main NPC. Other than that, all gates and switches have been good to this date but can’t judge till I finish. Next time around, I’ll try tank mode.

Sucks for the ones having a time for getting this thing to run well..

    Cheers

The more I play this, the more I love it!

I had a lot of fun sneaking around stealing stuff and selling it back to the person I stole from, I tried using a potion of invisibility too. Next play through I will be a thief and then a mage. I also had a good laugh freeing prisoners, hunting animals for souls (using an enchanted bow) and enchanting items.

I am surprised mine even runs considering the high number of graphical mods I am using, one mod in particular makes me wonder if Bethesda ran out of time to include it and it means your horse is near useless. Now my horse can be told to follow or stop and I can feed it for a boost in speed if I want.

    Edit:

The stupid horse ignored my commands to stay because it decided to attack two cave bears

It died before I could do anything but part of me is glad to be rid of such a stupid companion....

Lol does everyone go sneak archer or something in the start???

Well I pretty much have the best gear you can get in the game and playing on the hardest difficulty is fun. Still getting romped by strong mages, I need to find some magic resistance items to disenchant! Anyone know where I can get these?

I just have a full daedric set with the best bonuses to bow damage possible but i dunno what to put as the second enchant! Magic resistance would be my guess but it doesn't go on all items.

Travel from city to city and look for the blacksmiths and general stores. Someone will eventually have a piece of magic resistance gear for a reasonable price.

Also... my enchantment setup, copy-pasted from an earlier post:

Helmet: Archery, Waterbreathing (on the assumption that you don't use any spells)
    Cuirass: Health, Stamina
    Gauntlets: 1-Handed, Archery
Boots: 1-Handed, (Muffle/Sneak/Carry/Stamina/Resist, whichever floats your boat)
    Shield: Resist Magic, (Block/Health)
    Ring: Resist Magic, 1-Handed
    Amulet: Resist Magic, 1-Handed

Maybe sneak up and whack him with your bow? (grin)

Me? I'm lazy and love to camp. Next time around i'll be all over armor and smithing/enchanting.

I'm getting bored with Sword and shield warrior. Maybe it's time for a new character.
