Supposed to be either or, but it's bugged.

Something to bare in mind when considering performance. I just noticed that my graphical settings were some how set back to default which included 8 x AA. I didn't get any warnings of settings being changed or anything but of course, performance was lower. It is a good idea to check settings every now and then to make sure nothing has changed.
-
I'm getting anywhere from the average of 35-40 fps up to 60 fps when In caves or houses, I installed the performance mod from skyrim nexus, playing with aa off, 1366x768 res, if you just hit ultra settings, turn AA off and set the sampling rate to 8 or less you will not notice a drop at all from 1080 res and your game will run a lot smoother. I have reflections from water all on and fxaa on also, it looks simply amazing with the 2k HD texture mod
-
and yes I cannot wait until the expansion comes out, I don't want to hear it from xbox users, that's fine they can play with it for a month, it's still not nearly as beautiful as it is on pc
-
I know how it works, I have enchanted my sword with the soul trap spell, but I think soul trap was filling other soul gems preferentially first for some reason maybe it was a small glitch
Anyway Its all fine now
Thanks for your help guys -
Can confirm the black star gem will fill with anything, not just human souls
Pretty useful!

yeah i m sure bcuz when i open the skyrim launcher it shows that it has detected my radeon 6770 gpu... i just uninstalled the ati drivers and i automatically lost the intel's gpu drivers too (in device manager it said it isnt working)... and now when i installed the intel drivers i think i automatically got the ati's drivers too... what a mess
.. how i got my hd 6770m working when i didnt install the drivers yet.. i just want this game to run at 30 fps,, just as i played fallout3 on my xbox... i will enjoy it at that also.. but it just stucks at 11 or 12
-
Lower the resolution to 1366x768 and turn AA off.
-
The biggest fps killers by a long way are:
1) Resolution
2) MSAA/SSAA
3) Shadows
4) SSAO (ambient occlusion)
If you have it enabled, turn off MSAA/SSAA and ambient occlusion first. Then start halving shadowmap resolution. Shadows are unbelievable fps killers and I found that all my systems with tier one gpus can crank everything to max except the 4 settings above. All other settings have a negligible to modest effect in many cases.
I admit that Skyboost really worked magic on my old desktop PC (Core 2 Duo E7500, 4gb RAM, Radeon HD6770 1gb, Windows 7 x64).
It improved my minimum framerate by 6fps (up from 12 to 18) under the waterfall in Markarth and by 9fps (up from 19 to 28) outside the Dawnstar Museum facing the boat.
Settings:
1600x900
x2 MSAA + Morphological Filtering
x16 AF
All ingame settings on Ultra/Max except Shadowmap resolution reduced to 2048x2048 in skyrim_prefs.ini
+ mods with an fps hit like FXAA Injector and Lushgrass
Edit: I don't use FXAA Injector for sharpening filters. I only use it for colour correction so only tonemapping, technicolour and Bloom are enabled). The fps hit is worse if you use sharpening filters. -

Wanted to share a new mod that I just enabled in Skyrim:
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4323
I am LOVING this mod. It improves lighting realism greatly in the game and makes traveling at night or exploring dungeons feel much more dangerous.
The daytime lighting is greatly improved. The lighting at night is more similar to that in real life so you will now actually need torches and/or the Candlelight spell.
Next to my 2k textures and other texture mods Skyrim is looking insanely good now. -
Oh i pray that the coming DLC will include tons of armor and weapons.
Leather, Iron, Steel, Scaled, Elven, Glass, Dwarven, Orcish, Ebony, Daedric.. we've seen all these in Oblivion.
And i hope they add more contents in Studded, Leather, Imperial, and especially the Dragon equips.. i'm quite disappointed that there's no weapons.
But don't get me wrong, i love Skyrim! -
There's still plenty of weapons NOT in Oblivion. But you can't Smith them.

Lighting mod decrease performance?

This is old,
Use SkyBoost - http://alexander.sannybuilder.com/?category=other&altname=skyrim_boost
Its like TESV but better. -
I haven't noticed a decrease in performance. I just noticed that some over on the Steam forums say Skyrim runs better if they enable triple buffer in the Nvidia CPL. The mod that hit my performance the most is probably high definition interior furniture lol
-
Yea the lighting mod causes NO fps loss, it's textures mods and .enb series mods that pull down the fps.
I have triple buffer and vsync enabled in EVERY game by default as it completely eliminates screen tearing without dropping fps
I use a program called D3Doverrider to force the settings in every game and application. -

I'm really hoping for more of an expansion-type DLC rather than armor and weapon meshes.
After the civil war and the main quest, it's time to take the fight to the Thalmor dammit. We need to wipe that arrogant smirk off their faces.
Also, Blackreach could use some DLC quests. -
Which side did you choose on the civil war quest?
-
I'm at 100 hours and I still haven't done anything beyond the Thalmor Embassy on the main quest. Have all the houses, did the Civil War (Imperial), Thieves' Guild, Companions, and Dark Brotherhood. Making my way through the College right now. Currently trying to finish leveling enchanting to 100 to max out my smithing potential and enchant up all my gear so I can be the ultimate wrecking ball.
The only really annoying bug I encountered was an issue with Hjerim, the Windhelm house. If you side with the Imperials, it bugs out. You basically have to use console commands to buy it and unlock the decorations. Someone uploaded a batch file to Skyrim Nexus that takes care of cleaning up the leftover crap from the bugged quest. -

OMG yes, if this isn't a piece of DLC I'm going to be so ticked! -

The Markath house/Jarl bug is terrible too. My advice...become Jarl of Markath, upgrade your house, etc before you do The Forsworn Conspiracy quest -
This game is beautiful. The freedom to do as you wish is amazing. It's practically a "Second Life" app in that you can basically just settle down somewhere and practice smithing or alchemy all the time.
Truly amazes me. -
I finally finished leveling my enchanting. So as far as I can tell, the % enchants (resist magic, fortify [magic school], etc.) are additive. I have the 50% magic resist on block perk, plus two 25% resist magic enchants on my gear, so when I block I take 0 magic damage. OP much?
I also had a hard time finding good stuff to put in some of my secondary enchant slots, so I tossed in fortify destruction. My Daedric sword enchanted with Fire damage and Absorb Health never uses any charges. -
You can do Blood on the Ice quest , then go side with the Imperials. You can then purchase Hjerim without any bug
-
Sadly, that doesn't help once you've already finished the Civil War. It's all good, the batch file fixed my problems, I just don't get to do Blood on the Ice.
-
Has anyone else had a difficult time joining the bards college? I'm pretty sure the quest is bugged for me.
-
What do you mean by "...never uses any charges?"
-
Getawayfrommelucas Notebook Evangelist
I've had the same anomaly with my daggers...It's probably a bug -
That the enchantment for the weapon never decreases and require recharging via soul gems.
-
It might be unintended by Bethesda, but it comes from enchanting gear with Fortify Destruction. With 4 pieces, it's -100% cost for destruction spells. This also includes destruction weapon enchants. Since the enchants on my sword (fire and absorb health) are destruction effects, it never uses any charges and I never have to use a soul gem to recharge (recharging can be a pain if you're not fighting enemies with Grand souls). If they change it, I'll just carry my Black Star around with me.
-
Can you guys look at this guy's Daedric dagger. The damage is over 100+ while mine is only below 100. How do you achieve that damage?
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
It is determinant of your skill points invested in one-handed as well as the base damage level you found the weapon.

What guy's Daedric dagger? If you increase your dagger skill, pick up all of the damage boosting perks, and smith it to Legendary, you should get pretty high damage.
-
Well what I did was have +smithing gear equipped that bumped my efficiency with smithing. I then drank potions which further bolstered that and finally have blacksmithing maxed out with the right points in the tree and you can get some pretty powerful weapons. Plus, if you max out enchanting and have +enchanting gear for that + enchanting potions you can get pretty insane enchants such as +1 hand or +2 handed damage bonus. You can easily reach 500 or 1000 damage for a weapon if you're skill is maxed out with that weapon type. Good luck!
-
Do you have perks in alchemy?
-
i'm sure he does, the point is to enchant gear to make potions to increase smithing, enchanting, and just piggy back the three until you have the most absolute beast equipment and armor.. my armor rating is 1089, that I think I can get higher but haven't played in a while, im just level 44 now
-
Effective armor rating is capped at something like 590 or so.
-

I forgot to post the link. Anyway, I didn't know that the boost you get from perks and enchanting will show up in your weapons, that should explain why the one I'm looking at have a high damage. Thanks. -
For maximum weapon effectiveness without abusing gamebreaking bugs, you'll need:
- 7 points in Alchemy (5/5 Alchemist, 1/1 Physician, 1/1 Benefactor)
- 6 points in Enchanting (5/5 Enchanter, +1/1 Insightful Enchanter)
- 5 points in Smithing (Heavy tree up to Daedric)
Use Alchemy to create some Fortify Enchanting +25% potions. Quaff one of these potions and make a set of Fortify Alchemy equipment. Use that set of Fortify Alchemy equipment to make a stronger (+29%) set of Fortify Enchanting potions. Quaff those to make another Fortify Alchemy set. Next batch of potions should provide you with +32% Fortify Enchanting. This is as high as the loop will go. Make a whole bunch of these.
Use the potions to make a set of Fortify Smithing equipment. Also use your Fortify Alchemy set to create a set of Fortify Smithing potions - 1 or 2 will do, since smithing things up is a lot faster than enchanting.
Go to a workbench, put on your Fortify Smithing equipment, quaff your Fortify Smithing potion, and go nuts on all of your gear.
Enjoy killing dragons in a couple of hits. If you enjoy that sorta thing.
EDIT: If you -do- want to abuse some gamebreaking bugs, then make some Fortify Restoration potions. These will improve the benefits you receive from any other Fortify effect, so you can use the Fortify Restoration potions in an infinite loop with Fortify Enchanting potions and Fortify Alchemy sets to eventually end up with ridiculously powerful potions/enchantments. There is a limit past which any attempts to do any enchanting/smithing will just crash your game, but that limit's far beyond anything you'd need to already be a walking god. It's certainly above the +100,000% Fortify Enchanting mark. -
Does anyone have a G700 mouse that has successfully used the four thumb buttons to bind favorites in Skyrim? Any help?
-
I don't think Skyrim natively recognizes that many buttons; you may have to assign those buttons to keystrokes in the Logitech mouse software, and then bind to those "keys" in-game.
-
Leveling Alchemy is awful. Need moar giant toes and wheat.
-
Any of you find an armor that has a muffle enchant that is disenchantable?
-
Don't know about that, but why not try and buy an item from a vendor (they usually have items with the muffle enchantment) and then try to disenchant it.
-
Alchemy is one of the easiest skills to level. To powerlevel, even, if that's what you want.
The trick is that the more expensive the potion you create, the more it levels your alchemy. So make the most expensive things you can. Then run around alchemy shops sellin' em, use your proceeds to buy new ingredients, and repeat. -
I didn't mean it was difficult, just a lot more boring and slow than Smithing and Enchanting.
-
I'm the leading producer of iron daggers in Skyrim.
-
I think the speed of Alchemy leveling is much more appropriate than smithing and enchanting.
