The more I read about this game and the more of these videos I watch, the more excited I get. Everything just seems SO fleshed out. I have massive hopes for it and I really hope it lives up to my expectations.

Haha yes, I knew it was something from the 80s, couldn't figure out which song and it was driving me nuts.

That beach scene was amazing. Was expecting more corridors and cutscenes, I had no idea the game had this level of open sandbox gameplay systems. It seems that Elizabeth was interacting with the environment in a way we haven't seen before with NPCs in this type of game. Hopefully it will enhance the replay value.

Does anyone know of ANYWHERE that has decent preorder bonuses that are not XCOM or Bioshock 1/2? Cause I already have all of those.

Edit: I have this irritating fear of this game not being good. It's entirely irrational (no pun intended) but there has been so much triple-A shovelware over the past year or so that I'm afraid. My little remaining faith in the gaming industry will be deeply shaken if this game doesn't live up to the hype. Every fiber of my being tells me it will be, but I will be really sad if we end up with another Aliens: Colonial Marines (not that I think Irrational would do that).

^ he beat me to it. I got mine from GMG for just £22.50, which in American money terms is equivalent to $34! Almost half what a standard game costs at launch. Woohoo! :D

My only choices for GMG bonuses are Darkness 2 and Mafia 2, since I have all the others. I guess that's the way to go, though.

I started playing Bioshock 2 last night, I bought it in the Amazon summer sale last year but never played it. The difficulty level is way higher than I expected. Not a huge fan of playing as a Big Daddy. It's good, but I don't think it's as good as the original. I'm pumped to see how Irrational is going to top the first one.

Maybe I played on a lower difficulty level - I don't recall - but it didn't really seem like all that much of a challenge to me. The little sister escort and protection missions were a bit of a pain sometimes, but rarely required more than one or two quickloads. I also wasn't so into playing as a Big Daddy. For one, it entailed more protection and escort than I would have liked, and for two, I'm not a fan of being the slow-but-powerful guy in games - I get enough of that in real life - so I like to be spry and agile in my escapism.

The biggest issue with Bioshock 2 for me was that it felt more cartoony and arcadey than the first game. I've talked about how I feel disconnected with the action on-screen in Crysis and Far Cry, and I used "flat" as a descriptor for the feeling I get from the games. Bioshock 2, on the other hand, feels too "round" - it's preferable to being too flat, but it overshoots what I would consider a balanced feel.

    WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

As I'm sure many of you are already aware the game has been leaked early. Internet tolls are now littering forums and other sites with major spoilers. Be really careful as to which forums you use from now onwards. Oh, and I have heard that the various Wiki's have had spoilers planted inside, so avoid them too.

Gotta hate these trolls who want to ruin it for everyone :(

Interesting interview with Ken Levine, it seems previously he was trying to add multiplayer and then they weren't able to make it work, so they canceled it.

Well, broke down and Pre-ordered, looking forward to this one, and with the deals out there seemed like the time. Went with Amazon because I have all of the games from GMG's offer and don't have any interest in TF2 hats. $30 2K credit and XCOM put me over the edge. Excited! Looking like a preload either tomorrow or this weekend it appears?

Just bought from GMG. It's a bit misleading. The advertising says: "Get 3 Free Games*" and *= get them instantly

That's a lie because my email said XCOM key won't be provided until March 26. I was hoping to play some this weekend.

edit: I see in very fine print at the bottom of the page:

    * Regional restrictions apply. Also when you pre-purchase from GMG you get the Industrial Revolution bonus - this key is sent immediately after purchase. Keys for Bioshock Infinite will be distributed in time for the release date. XCOM: Enemy Unknown keys will be distributed before the 26th March.

They had one * at top why would they have two? They should have a ** or # or something to signify a second restriction.

How does that work? You can use the $30 in the future to buy 2k games from Amazon?

I did too. I got the Green man gaming with $15 credit because I don't know of any other 2K games I'd buy or any they have that I don't already own that I'd want to play.

But more or less $45 for Bioshock Infinite plus XCOM isn't a horrible deal.

Yep, $30 credit towards any 2k game purchases from Amazon, good through March 2014. Figure the next good sale I'll pick up a copy of Borderlands 2 or something, but its good for all of their games. Gmg was a good deal too but I had all the games except XCOM.

That's right, almost forgot the release date is Tuesday! Have to decide between Steam or Amazon.

Just to make sure, if I buy it on Amazon, I get a Steam key, correct?

I just preordered it on Steam last night. Steam gives you the extra games instantly. I already own XCOM though so I suppose someone will end up with it as a birthday gift or something.

Yeah, well GMG was offering XCOM, 2 games (which I got both Bioshock 1 and 2 that I'm giving away here at NBR) and $14 cash back or $15 GMG credit.

Well in UK it is the 25th! I suspect they're doing regional releases. Tomb Raider also launched half hour before the official release day, at 11:30pm on the 4th March here in UK. Good to see we don't have to wait for American time-zones to catch up, instead it's near-midnight releases wherever you live! I love Steam :)
