AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
Can anyone add screenshots of Medieval 2 Total War, Rome Total War, and other Strategy games (such as the new C&C)?
-
arent those games resource intensive- it would be interesting to see the framerate from a 7400 on those
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
I used to be able to play Medieval 2 Total War on HIGHEST settings on my 512MB Radeon x1400 very smoothly (~40-60). And I can play Rome Total War on medium settings on my Intel integrated smoothly too (30-50).
-
It's fine. I obviously play with a usb mouse, playing with a touchpad or the little red dot is impossible. If I'm at home, I use an external keyboard and monitor as well, but if I'm really stuck, just a usb mouse and the laptops screen/keys is fine.
-
Not hard at all. I'd say it's just like playing them on a desktop, with the exception that you have to watch out for the touchpad. If you game a lot and have large hands (like me) then it's worth it to take the time to get a laptop with a large enough keyboard (or small touchpad). I tend to bump the touchpad on my dv6000t occasionally, but it's not nearly as bad as some others I've tried.
My set-up also includes a wireless trackball which I use instead of a mouse. I prefer the trackball because if I'm using a laptop I generally have a lack of space to work with (like when I'm travelling). The trackball means I can still play FPS without having a place to mouse around in. -
You play FPS with a trackball? Whoah....
-
I tried Medieval 2. It kicked my comps arse. It ran horribly on medium and ran ok on low.
Rome Total War though. You can literally play with the settings putting it to max levels without a stutter. But of course if you make the settings too crazy (like 4x antilising with 1280x800 resoulution) you get some slow down, but no stutters and the game is still highly playable.
Though you may want to go for 2x antilising and 1024x640 rez at high settings, all effects on. Rome Total War runs excellent.
I wish I would have taken screenshots though >_<. I have the final game but there is some odd scratch on the play disc, didn't notice it until I needed to re-install the game. -
Last game I did that with was the original Unreal Tournament lol.
-
Well I got Dirt, but it'll be a day or two before I can throw it up here, quite busy at the moment and have to install it...
-
AmazingGracePlayer, I put CNC3 screenshots up on page 12. I still have to find the fps for it though, anybody have suggestions on a good application to display that while the game is going?
-
FRAPS, the best for game recording and showing frame rate.
http://www.fraps.com/download.php
EDIT:
be sure to enable the "Include Frame Rate Overlay On Screenshots" feature, so that frame rate will show up when you take screenshots.
the free un-registered version of FRAPS will only allow you to save image as ".BMP" format, and result in big image file size, usually above 1MB, thus, it's best that you then convert that image to .JPG format (compressed, small file size), by using Windows Paint, or any other image programs. -
Okay, I updated my first post (page 12) with fps info for CNC3. I really like FRAPS, thanks for the advice TomTom.

Track Mania Nations
It's free, it's addictive, and it runs awesomely on Go 7400, and I totally suck at playing it...
Finally managed to install and run Track Mania Nations on Vista smoothly; screenshots were took in solo mode with stock training tracks, haven't tried online custom tracks, but more or less, you will expect the same results.
Tips For Vista Users:
1. You must install the new StarForce protection driver (Beta) to avoid incompatibility issue on Vista.
Download it here: http://www.star-force.com/support/sfdrvup.zip
Install it and restart your computer.
2. After you have successfully launched the Track Mania Nations Launcher, set your desired settings, save and exit it.
3. To play, you have to use the main "TmNationsESWC.exe" found in the main game directory, instead of clicking on "Play" in the launcher window. (Make a short-cut to that .exe to desktop.)
UPDATE: You can launch the game through the game launcher, only after you have updated your game to the latest version!

Settings, pretty much all high/maximum settings....I like pretty graphics...

Around 20 FPS with very high graphics settings is very playable...

Let's go...

Just love that soft-shadow render...

Real-time shadowing...

Track overlook...

Weeeeiiii...flying in air....

Did I mention how much I suck?

Ditto...

Conclusion:
Track Mania Nations runs really smooth on Go 7400 and Vista, if you are willing to lower some settings, such as shadow, texture quality etc, you will see some sky rocketing frame rate. Overall, I'm very pleased with Go 7400's performance. Have Fun!Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
Nice! You can zoom now! Sweeeet!
No screenshots of Medieval 2 Total War? Nobody bothered to try? -
No screenshots of Medieval 2 Total War. CNC3 screenshots
-
Is there any difference between go 7400 and ati x2300?? Would they run sports games 06/07 versions, Call Of duty 2 (x2300), newish strategy games??
-
NOTE:
From now on, I will be using the modded graphic driver ForceWare 165.01 for future screenshots and settings...

DiRT Demo
Well, the demo version should do the job. I'm gonna warn you, you are not gonna like the results...
Setting descriptions will be above each screenshot.
First try: default settings, 800X600, all settings at Medium, all effects enabled...

Second try: 800X600, all settings at Medium, Motion Blur effect disabled, super-sampling off...

Same settings...close up camera view...

Same settings...different camera view...no car model visible...

800X600, some settings at medium, driver/car/tree models to Low...car internal deck view...(notice no driver hands visible)

640X480, all settings to low or off... the lowest stuff you can get...

Barely playable at the lowest settings possible, with lowest screen resolution...

Same settings...

Conclusion:
Well, there you have it folks. Not recommended to play DiRT with Go 7400, even with the lowest settings. Truly very disappointing...Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
i think that everyone would have figured that lol. I'll give you rep for the effort.
-
Yeah, some one requested DiRT before, so I'm here for it...lol
But, it's nice to see some games that will push Go 7400 to the limit. -
What are the best settings for this game to run smoothly on Nvidia Go 7400? I have an HP Pavilion dv6281ea with 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 1GB of RAM.
Thanks... -
low settings
-
Lowish res, 1024x768, options on medium-ish.
-
Added Half Life 2. If only more games were so well coded...Also tried Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 last weekend. Ran terrible, sub 25FPS at lowest possible settings. Pictures gone as I had to reinstall XP but take my word for it. Tried to test C&C3, but the game locks up on splash screen for some bizarre reason so I can't even play...
-
can you guys post more CS:S screens?
-
Hi all GF go 7400 owners,
I want to ask, if I will be able to run Crysis on this graphic card, i mean at lowest resolution and settings.
Thanks. -
Will it run Crysis?
Don't really know, since the official game requirement hasn't finalized yet...
But I'm pretty sure Go 7400 will be able to run it, it has all the basic requirements, like it supports up to Shader 3.0, T&L, 128MB Video RAM...
However the game will run like a slide show, like 5 FPS...lol -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I think people will be pleasantly surprised by how well Crysis runs on "slower" hardware.
-
Finally updated my Oblivion screenshot section, with some nice looking frame rate after tweaking...
It's on page 14. -
TomTom, you should move all your pictures onto one post like I did in my original post - it makes it much easier for people to see whats going on and you have some fantastic shots up...
-
Good point, but I'm afraid it will take forever for people to load that single page full of images...total of 126... lol
Edit:
It would be nice if you could just say which pages have game screenshots in your first post, that would directly lead readers to the images.
Or We could ask the mod to remove any non-screenshots related replies... -
Have someone tried "Total War: Medieval II"? Or similar games in graphics and game play? I was looking to get the M1210, but with "Core 2 Duo 2.0" and 2GB RAM.
Thanks! -
BioShock Demo
Sorry, too lazy to take screenshots, maybe someone ought to do it with full version.
All settings at maximum, all effects enabled, high texture/character details, 1280X800 -
Around 5~12 FPS
Everything looks amazing, great looking graphics. Basically a PowerPoint slide-show.
All settings at minimum, all effects disabled, still high texture/character details, 1024x640 -
Around 12~24 FPS
Everything is still there, no more advanced post processing graphics, water blur and reflection, bloom, etc... but still okay looking...
If with same settings as above, set resolution to 800X600, probably you will get around 25~30 FPS... -
Added Bioshock. Added new BF2 images now that I have 1.5Gb of Ram. TomTom thats a great idea, I will definitely do that and put all your posts on the main page, when I get time

Medal of Honor: Airborne
Demo
The demo installed perfectly under Vista, no error messages or anything else, although it did install Ageia's PhysX System, which came with game demo, but it is totally useless, has no effects on game performance/physics at all, as laptops don't get to have mobile Ageia PhysX Card...at least not yet...
MOH: Airborne demo runs pretty much like BioShock did, the lower graphics settings you go the better performance you will get, only slight difference in frame rate...
MOH: Airborne settings, with everything sets to medium, 800X600...

Briefing tent... really nice and detailed character modelings...

The post-processing effects are truly amazing...

Preparing...

Hooked and secured...notice the frame rate remains constant...

In mid-air...

Map overview...pretty big and detailed map...

Safely landed and ready for combat...

Area almost cleared...

Lightings definitely slow down your performance...

Play smart, stay on the roof...

Grenade...

=========================
Now change all the graphic settings to low or off, 800X600, gained about 5~10 FPS, graphics still look good from far away... no more post-processing effects...
A.I. seems a little dumb...

Nading is great...

Notice how good the water looks...

Finally, real physics engine...

Frame rate looks promising...

Conclusion:
If you must play Medal of Honor Airborne with Go 7400, lower your resolution to 640X480 or 800X600, and change all graphics settings to low or off, you will probably have a stable and smooth gameplay, frame rates should stay somewhere around 20~25 FPS...Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Very nice shots !
-
So it it playable at those framerates though? Also is the 8400 GS better or worse than 7400?
-
Thanks Age Of Wind
Is it playable? sorta...barely... depends on where you are and how many stuff is being displayed on screen at the same time, with the lowest settings, I got from 15 to 25 FPS... slightly higher if inside of houses...
8400 GS is better than 7400, not really that much better, but I suspect it would run MOH:A a lot better than 7400 did...you probably need to ask some 8400 users for some info... -
Thx for the answer! That pretty releives me as i can overlock the gpu and achieve better fps anyway.
-
Yeah well, we all thought that Go 7400 is going to handle Medal Of Honor: Airborne at minimum settings...guess we were wrong...lol...
-
World In Conflicts
Demo
Finally some good news, yes, Go 7400 can handle World In Conflicts! In fact it handles the game pretty well... at low/medium settings of course ...
and the graphics still look good, if you don't zoom way in...
First run, used the default settings, all graphics settings at low/off, none of the special effects checked, 1280X800 resolution...and I did the benchmark test, you might be shocked by the lousy results, don't worry, the actual game performance is way better than the benchmark test...
Actual Maximum FPS was around 50~60, Average around 20~25~35, Minimum around 8~10

Tutorial...map is not very highly detailed at minimum graphic settings...

Still pretty solid frame rate...

The only thing that I've noticed in World In Conflicts that would have dramatic impact on frame rate is smoke, dirt/dust smoke that is created by helicopters and landing platforms...

Now to crank things up a notch... changed some graphic settings to medium...still at 1280X800...

Beautiful view...except blurry ground texture...need to change some settings...

Building textures are looking pretty sharp...

Those are not 3D volumetric clouds... just simple 2D texture maps...

Tanks...or anti-tanks...

Notice blurry tree textures...again, need to change some graphic settings...

There it goes again...smoke slows down performance...way down...

Hard to see where my infantries are...

Prepare to take over...

Conclusion:
At resolution of 1280X800 (maximum available) and graphic settings of low/medium, I'm both impressed and content with Go 7400's performance. I didn't mess around with World In Conflicts' settings very much, took the easy way out by setting them to all low. As you can see, you get tons of graphic settings/options in World In Conflicts, more than enough for you to tweak the balance between visual and performance...
Try lower screen resolutions, disable/lower major effects, like smokes, explosions...etc, as they are the major factors in frame rate. And stay away from smokes, especially after your reinforcements have landed on ground.
With the current performance I'm getting, I believe your frame rate should be around 25 FPS (which is very playable for a RTS game) if you want much better looking graphics.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
From the looks of it... the X1400 is a lot better than the 7400... I didnt know they were that much different...
-
Well, my Go7400 is gone a few days now, so no more screenshots from me. Big thanks to TomTom2007 for keeping us up to date with a lot of the newer games....maybe he'll have more for some soon
-
hehe.. thanks Havok!
anyways, I've been pretty busy with my classes so that's why you don't see me posting often, plus, haven't got any new games yet... so... probably have to wait...
in the near future I hope I can find some spare time to post more screenshots of some older games...
keep this thread alive folks! thank you! -
your pretty wrong about bioshock i ran bioshock pretty good at 1024 by 768 but i turn it down to 800 y 768 and it ran flawlessly i made a youtube video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEP3dHkt_Jw -
hey everyone, thx a lot for all the info! I was wondering if someone can recommend me a good performing driver, i am currently using the 84.63 but its giving me blue screens with bioshock
Help please
-
You mean wrong in that it does play oh high settings? That's the impression I got from your youtube link and the comments. But come on, from the first second I watched it I could tell it was running terribly, maybe you find that acceptable but most people wouldn't. It looks very choppy - and thats in a section of the game where you usually get the best results due to lack of direct action.
-
Don't know which OS you've got...
For Vista, try 163.75 (latest mod release), which is really stable and reliable. A lot of my Vista in-compatible games no longer freeze or crash anymore, it also seems like my fans don't kick in as much since the update. As for performance... can't really tell... probably gain or lose around 2 or 3 FPS, no big deal, don't expect drivers to make huge differences.
As for XP, sorry, no experience in that area, you should PM HavoK for tips, he's been messing around on XP with Go 7400 drivers quite a bit.
Check these drivers for XP 32-bit, sorted by date:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/xp&sort=2
Good Luck -
ohh! damn i forgot to say the OS... well its Xp sp2 and if it helps its a hp pavilion dv5000 (1gb ram, 1.6 core duo)
thx for answering tomtom2007, i have tried some drivers from there (in fact the ones i use normally are from there) but there are a lot and the ones i have tried dont work well
So i hope someone knows other driver besides 84.63 that works well (and hopefully no blue screens too
)
-
Well... good luck on finding the new driver...
By the way, from now on, I will be using 163.75 for future screenshots.
Peace.
