It's a great game, but MMO's are touchy for me. I love the style, and it still feels a lot better than WoW... I just lose interest quickly.

 

I should have waited before using my GTC. I haven't played more than 5 hours last week. It's so humid.... I don't feel like playing any games.

 

Oh,whats the atmosphere in the game like??Do people like it or are most people leaving?

 

It's quite packed, and as far as I know people love it. (The ones who aren't having troubles)

 

Yeah Ive heard about the trouble some people are getting.My friend for instance was playing fine til he got the update,ever since its been crashing every half hour or so.

 

Warhammer Online is due out this fall.

 

Oh god yeah.Ive heard about this and it looks amazing!!I just hope it doesnt turn out like WoW because it sure looks like it but it still looks bloody brilliant.

With AoC and Warhammer now WoW has some major competetors

 

This game is highly dependant on your personal playing style.

Me and mine like to abuse the pvp system and kill on sight all other players we come across, and my whole guild acts in this way as well.

For others who dont like to come across Goonheim and those players who like the story of a game, play on a PVE server and this game is great I like playing it solo too (as a conqueror)

The story in the game is fantastic and subtly different depending on class and race. And finally if you are a fan of Conan lore, you will really love this game.

Personally, I really love this game and will be playing it long after it has been nerfed repeatedly.

Trust me, Warhammer Online will be nothing like WoW. It's a totally different gaming experience (thankfully).

 

Warhammer Online will be just like WoW on a PvP server back before battlegrounds.

This is provided Warhammer even ships...

Warhammer had a chance to be good... somehow I doubt it ever will be.

Anything EA touches nowadays turns to dust... much like SOE.

 

Thank god part of their contract with Mythic stated that Mythic was completely in charge of this project. All EA is doing is pumping money into the game and development. I don't think it will be a flop and if I did I wouldn't have tested it as much as I already have. See sig, should show something like 700+ hours of WAR Beta.

A buddy of mine has a beta account for Warhammer and he never touches it as he says Conan, even with all its troubles is superior in almost every way.


The one way he says Conan isn't superior is the zone-wide PvP events which are indeed fun during beta as beta testers tend to play the way the designers want them to.

If ever Warhammer is actually released, expect the zone-wide PvP events to be ruined by people 50+ levels too high for the zone.


He also said that Warhammer is having just as much trouble with PvP balance as any other game. As it stood when he last played you are one of a few classes worth PvP'ing with or you might as well not bother.


I really do hope they find a solution, as Mythic's PvP innovation is VERY nice.
I wouldn't mind having some solid competition for my MMO fix.

I think I could deal with Warhammer's horrible graphics if the gameplay was worth it. (no chance on the wife playing, the women look abysmal)

I just viewed a few youtube video's and honestly,its like WoW's twin.Im pretty disapointed about that.Well its going to be AoC for me!

 

Just jammed some AoC for a few hours last night. It is a blast, and I am going to continue my subscription.

Anyway Im definatley getting this game,it looks amazing and has gotten me all exited this year!

Im finally getting my laptop on the 30th and hopefully it will arrive in the first week of august!

I really cant wait to play this game!!!

Oh ya and I hope by november/december this will be the best MMORPG on the market,its a big feat but COME ON!!!

 

For people with ATI graphics, are you using Catalyst or Omega drivers? Which provides better performance for AOC?

Umm, some of this information is absolutely 100% incorrect so you might want to check to see if your friend really has a beta account. Also, there will be no ganking. Why? Because a level capped ( 40 ) player can not enter a tier 1 RvR lake. What happens if he does? He turns into a chicken ( not kidding ), and he can only do 1 damage, while he takes about 20k damage for an auto one shot. This will always prevent the gank. On WAR graphics, I can't see how they are just a tiny bit better than WoW considering none of the public has seen high res textures. The only public stuff they have shown people is locked at Low to Medium. It is very annoying when people flat out lie about a game.

Here are screens comparing the game in August of 2006. This is when Mythic released only low res graphics.







Those are WoW High Res vs. WAR Low Res. The one way Age of Conan truly beats WAR is graphics. It was supposed to be a Mass PvP Siege Battle game but it launched without that stuff even tested. They aren't mass anymore either since it is 48v48. I play games for massive pvp and tested siege mechanics that work. I would much prefer to fight 200v200 than 48v48. And don't even give me that "but 200v200 will be a lag fest" because unless you are in the beta you can't comment on it and those of us who are in beta can not comment on it. Plus, AoC 48v48 was a killer lagfest. WAR is going to have far superior PvP than AoC. AoC will always be "prettier". Take it for what it is worth but I was in beta for a long time for both of these games and even tried to stick with AoC come launch but I just couldn't bring myself to keep logging in, and I would rather play WAR in beta. I would suggest not saying "my friend said", "my first cousin twice removed, once kicked out of the family" and others. A lot of people who are friends give some pretty crappy feedback. As was proven by his lies to you that you posted here. If AoC was really better than WAR I would still be subbed to it and not be testing WAR instead.

 

I think it would be highly optimistic to see 48vs48 sieges (which was what FC originally promised) , in fact the game will have trouble even at 24vs24. I guess its typical from a game (mid/hi lvl content, technical issues, broken skills, pvp system, endgame) that's literally 6 months from being ready.

The pundits will say the game will get better 6 months from now which I don't doubt at all...but would I want to pay to beta it for 6 months? The money isn't the problem, I just don't have 6 months of time to sink into something that's not guaranteed to deliver in the end.

 

I just ran into a group of like 10 people on Vangaurd that left AoC for VG.

I was shocked. (Im on my free vet month of VG) they really made it better.

He is... seen the program on his machine while we were checking out the Conan beta. I did not see the program running however, so maybe he got kicked from not playing now...

I like their sense of humor... don't know if this will make it to live, but if it does, kudos... they will be one of the first to kill insanely high people ganking or griefing... provided there isn't a way out of it. (likely there will be... bugs are part of every MMO)

This is fanboism... War is WoW with some slightly better textures... let's face it, its ugly compared to even games like Lineage 2 where 100vs100 seiges were common.

Conan has bugs, Warhammer has bugs, Conan is real, Warhammer is in the eternal winter of beta-ism and one can only hope it will ship before everything before the WoW-ish graphics start looking like ATARI2600 in comparison. You can keep making excuses, but Warhammer's graphic sacrifice is not necessary... Lineage2 has been doing this better for many many years with an outdated engine.

Massive PvP is about balance and strategy... something missing from most MMORPGs. I sincerely hope Warhammer will succeed where Conan has up until now failed. Note Conan may still rise to the occasion and Warhammer may never ship.

I like Conan for all its flaws... at least I am ready to admit Conan's flaws though. Warhammer will have its own as well and I bet its wow-ish graphics aren't the only one.

I posted my friend's feedback, my insight, and nothing more. His opinion seems less fanboi than yours and since he will admit BOTH games have flaws, I will take his word over yours. (I'll ask about the chicken thing though.)

Oh and you might want to work on your manners when dealing with adults.
Calling someone a liar when something is clearly their own opinion and your opinion most certainly isn't fact is not very becoming.

 

I still hold my opinion that Im seriously dissapointed with War.I was expecting something more orginal like AoC has done but its identical to WoW.

I just dont like the combat system.Click and wait.Thats just boring.AoC has brought MMORPG's to life with their new combat system.Its so simple and yet way more fun!Why cant all MMORPG's be like that?Its more realistic and takes skill and good timing.And lets not forget the combo's.

 

I've just cancelled my AoC subscription. Too many problems and mature content is getting nerfed.

I've resorted to Tabula Rasa to give a try.

WoW is on hold and I still play EVE Online as well.

 

I hope for you the fix the mid/end content ot TR. One entire area (which was suppsoed to be the best area of the game) is not playable. It has (had maybe?) a permanant 2500 ping because of a design error. Rather than fix it at the code, they removed half te mobs. It's freaking awesome until level ~20 imo, it dies after. Nobody wants to group for instances because it's not mandatory...

Seriously. Just start up a character (Warrior, Mage, or Hunter) and go hang out in Duskwood for 70+ levels.

 

I am not quite sure how anyone can even stand WoW before AoC came out.
(no game before WoW and nothing since has tempted me so fiercely to go get snipped...)

AoC for all its flaws is actually amazingly fun for the first 50 levels.
Group dynamics are also a refreshing change.
Feeling part of that world was a blast too.
Even ONE less elf named drizzt or legolas is a good thing... but NO elves at all is a gift from a very merciful god.

Honestly, along with some serious client fixes, AoC needs endgame and midgame content and some serious character PvP and PvE balance.
AoC has an amazing amount of potential... but I can tell you the client bugs are starting to drive even the most patient person batty.

One thing I will give blizzard... they build some nice clients.
Not bug-free, but certainly better than funcom.

What we need is the storytelling of funcom, the client from blizzard, and the PvP ruleset from mythic... oh and someone who can build a reasonably balanced class set. (mythic hasn't got it either... tanks are STILL pointless as of last night)

But he IS lying. Especially the part about the ganking. The chicken mechanic is WIDELY known by anyone who even slightly follows the game. Also, AoC was in development for 5 years, WAR was announced on May 19, 2005, so it is just three years later. I admit both games have flaws, as all MMOs do, but unfortunately your friend flat out lied about some things, so saying he is a liar is spot on. About the graphics not being on HIGH Res in WAR, you can look that up and that is a fact, not fanboism at all. For your information I followed AoC from day one and was in beta for the first wave of invites. If anything I was an AoC fanboy. I got into beta for both and changed my view. I want a large scale PvP game. That is why I prefer WAR. If you think WAR is never going to ship though you are in denial it is quite obvious that it will ship. EA and Mythic have invested too much money and too much time into a game that hundreds of thousands of people signed up to test. It is the largest number for a closed beta for an MMO and you don't just scrap a game of this magnitude. Unless you can provide facts instead of opinions I would just let it die here.

EDIT: I also wanted to add that I am not interested in a measly 100v100 that doesnt cut it for me anymore and I played LII. Mythic once had 1500 players fighting it out in one area before during 2005. That is a fact. That is what I am looking forward to.

 

i will be startin AoC very soon. just waitin for a few buddies to refresh their comps to handle the graphics.

i actually got a free copy of WoW a few years back...i used it as a coaster. never even installed it lol. AoC will keep me busy til a new ultima online or mortal online comes out =)

 

AoC is a blast, and I did renew my subscription. I got burned out for a while, but loaded it back up, and I am really loving it again. The quests feel new... that is a big deal for me. WoW had that "GTA" feel- Go here kill this. AoC has some interesting concepts, and the "Destiny" quest is actually quite amazing.

Warhammer Online isn't perking my interest. Looks like a WoW knock, with a few add-ons. AoC looked different from day one. It felt different. It doesn't feel like WoW, or resemble WoW in any way. (Aside from the MMO part) I used to love WoW, but found out real quick what an MMO should be like- Age of Conan.

*Disclaimer- I know the game has bugs. It sucks, I know, but I still play it. It's new, and has too much potential to just let it go*

 

I haven't played for a while. Tomorrow's patch (according to the Testlive forums) is supposed to fix a lot of the out of memory crashes, which will be the one major thing that I was waiting for. Having the game crash every hour was ridiculous, let's hope that this makes it into the live patch.

Weird I have no memory crashes or other problems other than an occasional latency spike game runs great, and is very fun, will only get better. Once you get past level 25 the game rocks and teaming with others is a blast.

You aren't going to change your mind, and I haven't seen anything yet to make me think WH is anything but a bad WoW clone with slightly better graphics.

As a consolation prize, I will likely find someone to show it to me on the event WH ever releases before completely passing it over, but I gotta say I am just not impressed with what I have seen and heard.

If you do find some of these fabled high-res pics, I wouldn't mind a look.

 

For the record I have played WoW for 3 years and I hate it. The only reason I play anymore is because of friends thats all. As for AoC I played from release and got to 40 and yeah game play is ok, but ultimately it got extremely boring IMHO. If it works for you thats awesome, but it def didn't work for me.

I await D3 and SC2 so the leech that is WoW can finally leave my life...

 

I am one of those people that tried WoW with friends, got annoyed, got pulled back in, nearly got snipped out of sheer annoyance with the community, then got asked to come back in by friends again...

I actually have no issue with blizzard who built a solid game. (I have issues with their class balance strategies however.) I DO have issues with the community that has lost track of the fact that this is a game and people should be having fun. The absolute loot-whore mentality the game just kills it for me.

As for Conan... its a niche game... if you don't like it, I don't blame you.
Some people are simply not going to be compatible.

 

Recent article stated that the NDA for WAR will be lifted in a couple of weeks. When this happens, I will have not only screenshots for you, but videos of what multiple massive battles should look like in a MMO. I am currently sitting on about 400 screens and 25 videos.

Ive never played Diablo,and only heard about it recently when D3 was announced.

 

You missed out on a very addictive game. Diablo 1 was alright, but Diablo 2 was probably the most fun I had in a game up until I got heavy into MMORPGs.
