Yeah, you really have to try different type characters to see which is fun for you, tried 4 different till I found one I liked, they all play very differently.

Sweet! some or most characters suck till you get past level 25+, once on the main land the game is a blast and some of the areas are incredible looking. Going to go play now.

The one thing that's keeping me from logging in is that Funcom lowered all of the attack speeds, and are working to fix it. They lowered them all lower than they were before so they could bring female and male attack speeds to the same speed. They're going to bring them both back up by the end of the month.

I'd skip the fortress and go to the wild lands and join a group in the Sanctum, lots of people their and you'll level very fast seeing your 38, I stayed in the fortress area too long and couldn't level fast from 35 went to sanctum and the wild lands and +5 levels very fast and more gear and coin. make sure you group for sanctum as its very hard, you'll need 5-6 including a good healer. Yeah I once did sanctum when I was 29 with guildies, about 4 times 38~42 I'm 47 now.... The only hard part about Sanctum is the Blood Defiler. I'm just clearing all the quests to level up. Noble District and FotD right now. I have a quest in Imirian Ravine that gives 3 silvers :p No one wants to go there though =/

I'am 46 now, almost done with Fields of the Dead, did Imirian Ravine back at level 42, with 4 total players, that was the hardest quest by far, best to pull a mob one by one and into a killing zone far back from the others, the bears will chase you until you or it dies and will spawn camp you, our first tank quit it was so hard, have gotten some awesome gear for my Ranger. Can't wait till level 50 as I get some nasty combos. Really loving the game, kind of like a much better Oblivion supercharged and on 'roids! Hopefully tonights patch will be a good one! . [IMG]

For that kind of money I would go with the Gateway P-6860fx and it has the possibility of upgrading the process in like 7 easy to follow steps that definitely meets all the recommended settings. When I go to canyourunit.com the processor is just below recommended. If I upgraded I imagine I would be way over.

AgeofArkane, the 6860 is a 17". For a 15", I would check out the Dell XPS 1530's, should be in your price range.

I've really been considering getting this. I'm also pretty sure my laptop will be able to run it on high or higher settings. I've just been wondering, how is the community in these past months? Is it still going strong? Is AoC continously being updated for fresh new content/just bring the game alive in general? How is the end game (if there is one or if anyone is even there yet)?

You should be able to run it at high with a few framerate drops here and there if you play in 1920x1200. I've been off for the last three weeks because of crappy patches. When I logged in last Wednesday when Funcom added a new patch (or was it Thursday?), I got an out of memory error ten minutes into playing, which crashed the game. It's a great game, but Funcom needs to fix it. When the game launched it never crash for me, but after this week's patch, it's only gotten worse.

EVE Online > WoW > AoC*

(*)~ But once/if AoC gets all the bugs and dificiencies sorted out it will beat WoW.

I got 20-30 and sometimes 40+ spikes at 1920x1200 res with a tweaked (looked alot better then medium) setting on my 8600mGT so your AW will be able to run just fine. But then again I did play AoC at release so there were alot of bugs, so Im sure I could do alot better FPS wise.

As frustrated as I am with AoC, I would rather play AoC on a baseline machine after the worst patch in AoC history than spend ONE more second in WoW.

WoW goes down in history as the only MMORPG to ever make me want to go get snipped.

Not that AoC or any other MMORPG I have played doesn't have its share of dorks, but WoW is the ultimate motherload in that category.

WoW is an above-average game that has collected the absolute worst of the MMORPG crowd and fermented it into the aboslute worst MMORPG experience in history.

As for AoC.. minus the memory leak thing, from 1-50 it is the best MMORPG I have ever played.
Now if it only had some PvE endgame... and if PvP actually existed.
    (and fix the client)
I am disappointed in AoC... but its still a far cry from the cesspool that is WoW.

I have experience with both. I played wow from closed beta all the way up to a year ago (quit august 2007). WoW is a great game but I'm playing AoC now. AoC borrows a lot of concepts from WoW but it has the potential to be better than WoW. Honestly, right now WoW is better but if AoC ever balances out/fixes bugs and memory leaks, it can crush WoW. Although, Wrath of the Lich King is coming out soon so if Blizzard mixes it up, it might dominate again.

Either way, they both need to mix it up. Time will tell.

Sorry but it reminds me too much of wow.Age of Conan is different,AoC has top-class graphics, not the childish cartoony type. The gore is another thing I love,GORE OWNS!

And yes AoC is having problems but in a month or 2 it will be good and mabye near christmas it will be the biggest MMORPG out there.

And while I am sure it will be fun for some people... it will have its issues as well.

For instance... PvP requires balance... something Mythic isn't actually very good at. (to be fair neither is Funcom)

Watch Warhammer ship and it become "Warhammer: Age of <insert god class>"

Kinda like World of Roguecraft, only the whole game is PvP and if you aren't the PvP godclass, you might as well reroll...

Played WOW for 3 years on and off.

Playing WAR beta atm...I can say with a great deal of confidence that WAR will be the next big mmo.

Conan has excellent graphic and a mature gamplay compared to WOW which is like cartoon network.

Conan has however no content once u reach lvl 80 and not a good PVP system, thats why it sux

The thing that irked me the most were all the exploits and hacks that go on (and usually by entire guilds) and Funcom isn't doing anything to fix them. Say what you want about Blizzard or Mythic games but they'd release a hotfix at soon as possible for serious exploits once it's brought to their attention. yet 3 months in , checked the latest patch and still nothing is done.

It's disheartening to guilds that play by the rules especially on a pvp server knowing you're going against guilds who cheated and continue to cheat to get to where they are.

I remember one recent patch where " a female npc chest size was reduced because it was showing through her dress". I wasn't sure whether to laugh or shake my head in disbelief. There are so many issues in the game needing attention but that warrant a mention in the patch notes - 2 full lines of it. No doubt included to make it look like a busy patch. That in a nutshell kinda sums the game and the company behind it.

I uninstalled AoC two days ago. Amazingly the uninstall took 20 seconds to complete. My sub doesn't expire until Sep. 20. Funcom are quickly destroying the game and it's gaming community.

I'll check in on AoC in six months or so to see how it's going or if it's even alive still.

Big patch released today that fixes a lot and adds PvP finally... they also fired the AOC game director and brought in the guy who turned AO around (forget his name). Anyway things are looking up so I recommend dropping back in and checking it out.

Yeah most seem very happy with this big PVP patch and people on my server were having a great time battling each other last night! My server this last month has grown like crazy and a lot of fun things happening, most that left for War are back and loving it. Most everyone is happy with the gem nerf (Except some fully gemmed players who really have to fight now) and PVP xp is now implemented. Huge battles happening server wide and the memory crashes have been fixed, though I fixed it with the 3 switch earlier it is no longer needed. If you left AOC come on back you'll be very happy.

I remember loving the graphics and the break from WoW. But I didn't like the game play as well as the lack of group play/population. But I may have to check it out in a few more months since D3 is a long way out and WotLK will surely disappoint me.
