Hey guys I went to the site www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest and looked to see if my computer would run AoC. To my surprise my CPU failed the test in regards to the "Recomended CPU"!
Here are my specs:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz
RAM: 2.0 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Now what I was wondering is if anyone has a similiar set up, mainly the CPU, and if the game runs well for them?? I can play Crysis smoothly with mostly medium/some high settings and cant imagine AoC being MORE demanding than Crysis was, although it is certainly close.
Thanks for all the help

I've only gotten about a hour and a half of gametime, but the game has been pretty amazing so far. I really can't make too much of an opinion yet because of my lack of playtime. On Saturday the EA servers were delayed by three hours, and we didn't know until ten minutes after they were supposed to be up! Today there's a 5 hour downtime to prepare the servers for the release tomorrow (it'll be done in 2 and a half hours from now). They should've did it at another time, but I have a feeling Funcom won't have these sort of problems once they get over half a million subscribers.

I literally have had no sleep. I cannot stop playing. Level 35 at the moment. Game is amazing. Played multiple MMOs and the launch of this game has by far been the smoothest, and its early access not even launch. They are going to have a major patch at the end of the server down time tonight at 10 pm EST. There are definately small glitches, but nothing I mean zilch is effecting actual gameplay. Game runs great please don't listen to nay sayers. Make sure you have the 175.16 drivers they are optimized for AoC.
The leveling in the game is a joke. Its about as long as WoW or even less. It is however tons of fun. The starting place, Tortage, is like playing a single player game. It is all voiced over and the quests are extremely detailed. You are physically doing things not just killing sheep and collecting apples. The combat, if you watch it, looks dull, but when playing is phenominal. You have to get used it, but you start memorizing your combos to the point where you see he has no shields on the left so you use a combo that hits hard on that side. It requires much more thought. NPCs shift their defenses consistantly. Fatalities also add a certain something to the game as well.
The starting place has night and day. Basically the night is the main quest line that is single player, and the day is general quests that you can do with other players. The zones are divided as well, like Guild Wars. Example Tortage 1, Tortage 2, but it pretty much stops after Tortage. I mean there still is instancing, but it is much less common and only if an area is way to populated.
I suggest applying to guild posted on the forums if you are looking to get into action already because if your rolling on a PvP server you need friends to level with since other players will gank you solo.
The game itself is extremely dark, which you have probably heard. I mean dead corpses, starving people, children watching their parents burn to death, and the magic is all demonic. Its conan game alright.
My guild has already started building our city, and its going to take forever. I think most of the game will be spent actually making cities, instancing, PvPing, and sieging.
I said earlier what performance was like. If you are getting poor performance turn your shaders down to 2.0, and the game will run fine. I can run it on Medium with shaders on max. It is probably an average of 30 FPS. I get peaks at like 80 and lows at like 15. My friends M15x with an 8800m GTX, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, and 3GB of Ram runs this thing on all max at 1440x900. I play in 1680x1050 and 1440x900 when I disconnect my laptop from my monitor.(No difference in performance)

Well, when you think of it, the game doesn't really start until 20, the first 20 levels are in a small isolated island made solely for a single player campaign and to give you a taste of the combat. So 35 could be counted like 15 in any other MMORPG, and it'll only require more and more work per level.
-
While that is true Michael there are people who are already 60 on my server, and I am not kidding. The game takes no time to level.
-
can i run the game smoothly at low setting with the following specs:
Asus G1
Core 2 duo t7200 2ghz
2gb ram
geforce go 7700 -
whats the level cap?
-
Level 80 is the cap
-
I'm only 20 dangit...haven't had much time to play. And when I do they shut down the servers like tonite for 7 hrs. bah

I seriously want Funcom to refund the $5. I got a hour out of the whole early access! I was planning to play for 4+ hours on Saturday, but it was delayed three hours then I had to leave. Then, tonight I figured I could get in 3 hours. 5 hour downtime! I figured alright, another hour or two is fine... then there's another two hours of downtime! I don't want Funcom to refund the $5 for the money just to show they're not only trying to make as much money as they can from the launch without having the servers ready for the public and for not providing the true early access they promised.
-
Aren't they crediting you 10 playable days anyway? 10 days cost $5
Do you need a CC/GTC for activation or it's buy-and-play 30 days like lotro? -
wow so this game is rather short in terms of leveling.....thats a bummer

Funcom said that the game orignally was going to take on average 110 Hours to level to 80, but they recently changed that to 250 Hours. That means about 3 weeks or so for a hardcore player to hit 80. All I know is that there are multiple 58-60s on my server.
I think the 10 days are added after the launch maybe? Thats your fault for not playing man... I am sorry. I have been playing a ton. I mean yeah the servers were down for a total of like 10 hours of the like 60+ Hours from early acces to launch? -
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
-
I understand, but there was plenty of time to play....
-
250 hours to hit 80, and avergae player 3 weeks, i dont think the average player plays almost 12 hours a day dude lol
-
Wow lol I didn't mean to say average.
*That means about 3 weeks or so for a hardcore player to hit 80.*
Not had to much sleep as you can tell. Brain kinda shuts down. -
lmao, we would all like to play 12 hours though, im a hardcore gamer at heart, i blame school and my internship from revealing it lol
-
Lol, yeah......
I have been waiting for this game for awhile, so I will be playing this "hardcore" for a week or two right after school gets out. Then its back to the old job and fall semester. -
-
well tomorrow is no class and no work, so tomorrow im waking up early, getting the game, and playing for 48 hours straight

Are you going to be on Deathwhisper? I'd play all-day, too if I didn't have school... and the American Idol finale is on
.
-
what server should i play on?
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
A lot of the users on the forum have characters on the PVP server Deathwhisper, but other than type, there isn't going to be a huge difference between the servers
-
When I'm off work I play 12-15 hours a day. So thats about 20 days to hit lvl 80 with a character.
Although I think thats way too conservative. Since people are already hitting 38+ in what 2 days? The leveling curve must really slow down when you hit 60+ then for it to take 250 hours. -
Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere. If it has, please just tell me where.
The recommendations for the game include a 7900 GTX graphics card.
I have a 8700M GT. What's the comparison like? I know the 79xx is a desktop card but I was wondering the 8700M GT was compatible.
If they are very different, can the 8700M GT run it well on decent settings? It's just one 8700M, not SLI.
Thanks. -
Most likely Medium to Low pretty well.
-
What resolution you think?
-
I don't know well enough.
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Damn, I'm so tempted to play all night once the servers are open again. My mom will get too pissed and I wouldn't be able to skip school anyway...
-
The body runs off of four hour sleep cycles. If you were to go to bed and wake up 4 hours later you would be more awake than if you got 5 hours of sleep. At the end of the day you would be more tired, but when you first wake up its not the case. This is the rule I go by when I try to throw in some gaming sessions, attend parties, or have a lot of school work due. Take 4 hour naps randomly. Lol EXTREME Measures!
BTW Michael I didn't mean to come off in a bad way saying that you had plenty of time, but the early access was like 72 hours minus the 10 that it was down for maitenance. So thats 62 Hours of uptime and about 30 of those would be spent sleeping and eating. So a total of 32 Hours could be spent playing AoC *Healthily* =P I understand you have other priorities and obviously Age of Conan should not be one, but its not like there wasn't time to play. -
Wow, this thread has taken off since this morning.
I agree with MICHAELSD01 on the whole Early Access refund bit.
The servers have been done longer than they've been up. It's really kind of shoddy how the whole "3 days head start" thing was really just "3 Days for us to mess with servers, and continue to extend down times at the last minute" .
I won't complain really, been a busy weekend, but still when I have had time to actually play a bit, the servers have been down 100% of the time.
I was really hoping to hit lvl 20 before tomorrow and get the hell off Tortage before the mass of people start showing up. It was already borderline retarded to complete certain White Sands quests with 1-2 people camping spawns, imagine mid-day tomorrow with 3000+ people are there. *sigh*
I think this game will be a run away hit, it is a good game, it's finally something different, and so many people have been longing for something fresh on the market.
But with so many people flying through levels, I think they're going to run out of content quite quickly. The game seems incredibly small to me, just by observing the map. Hopefully Funcom has a plan. -
i dont think im doing a pvp server, im not into that kind of stuff
-
I'm playing on a PVP server. I had intially thought of going PVE but after the OB I decided to change. I'm no griefer and abhor that playstyle but reason why I chose PVP is because at later stages guild politics, alliances and political maneuvering will open up a whole new dimension to the game. There will be moles planted into opposing guilds, enemy moles within your own guild etc...that's what makes FFA PVP so great. Sure that will be present on PVE servers to some extent but not to the degree of PVP servers.
-
Funcom again at the last minute extends the downtime another hour.
If this becomes a trend, they're going to scare off a lot of people. -
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
I tried to get a few extra minutes of gameplay in, but Funcom extends the downtime again by another hour! There's three delays in one day, making me miss three chances at gameplay...
-
Yeah funcom obviously delays things often. Their release date has been changed like 4 times, and every patch has been delayed longer than expected. I hope this is because they want to make sure the game is performing well before they open patches to public.... but
I mean they are in Norway. Maybe they do things differently. =P -
So if it comes back up without any further delays it would be 8 hrs total. If they had just been bit more liberal with their estimates I could have gotten my sleep time in. ah well...guess no lvl 21 for me tonite.
-
All of this talked about downtime scares me. I was expecting to hear joy of how flawlessly the server handled the load. You'd think when you're competing with WoW, you'd bring your A game.
-
well to be honest, the actual launch is the 20th so technically there's no "downtime". Those who have been playing were able to do so using the Early Access key.
My main beef is the time of day they decide to bring down the servers. It should have been done earlier in the day and not during primetime US. -
Well, there they go again, once again, last minute, they announce yet ANOTHER hour of continued down time.
This seems to be a sad and frightening pattern. Every time the servers have been down thus far, they have further delayed brining them back.
Every pre-set start time they've set up till this point, has been pushed back hours at a time.
As said above, if they would have just posted "We here at Funcom seem to have collectively lost our heads up our arses.... Servers will be back in 12 hours." I think people would be less likely to start the hate. -
what r the best drivers for this game, im using the desktop in my sig
-
-
yes 175.16 drivers do rock, i cant wait to test them in AoC, atleast so far they let me break my 19k 3dmark06 record lol
-
Just wanted to know what your FPS are at and what your settings are set to. Again its the 8600m GT im asking about, its the laptop version of the 8600GT
-
people say the game laggs on a 8800 GT desktop... which is about 3-4 times the performance of that card.... so i assume borderline unplayable.
