The 9800 GX2 was supposedly getting 60 FPS on max settings.
I said thought multiple times that my friend with an m15x and 8800m is getting 30-40 Avg FPS on all high.
-
yes it maybe be on all high but is that including 16x AF or an AA? And what resolution? the reason many desktops struggle is because we are running it in 1920x1200
-
1400x900 and just the preset high
-
oh the high preset isnt near maxing the game, which is what desktop users like me are trying to do. Fully maxed at 1920x1200 i get 55fps average and i see 30's in tortage....and my sli setup is more powerful than a single 9800gx2...which means the game isnt sli friendly yet

Anyone have any idea why every time I shut down the game when I get back to my desktop it pops up an error that says Age of Conan has stopped responding and gives me the option to close the program, it then pops up a box to send a comment to funcom. There hasn't been a time that it hasn't happened and the next time I go to run the game it says that it wasn't shut down properly and gives me the option to run a diagnostic check.
-
everyone gets it mostly, it just needs to be patched, same thing for me

JCMS, the 9800gx2 is 2 g92 gts's i believe. And at high resolutions with AA and AF the 2 8800gtx's win. This is because the 8800gtx has more memory(768mb) and more bandwidth(384bit) than the g92 gts and the 9800gtx which have 512mb of memory and only a 256bit memory bus. So with the settings im using, 1920x1200, with 8x AA and 16x AF, the two 8800gtx's outperform one GX2
i will expect awesome performance in this game when i get my two 9900gtx's this june when they come out which will have 1GB of gddr3 and a 512bit memory bus....cant wait.....it will be the ultimate AoC card lol -
But Funcom and Blizzard have made their their ui modable to allow for 3rd party addons. Just means if something blows up your computer or installs a keylogger they are not responsible. Basically use the same common sense here as one would doing anything over the internet. -
The 9800GX2 has 2x512MB @256bits but unlike a SLI setup, you do add the memory there so it makes 1GB @ 512bits. That's on nvidia's website. The GX2 has 128GB/s of bandwidth while the 8800GTX has 86 and the ultra 103.
Spec wise, the 9800GX2 should be better than the 8800ultra sli since GF6/7/8 SLI is not 100%, more or less 50-60%. The 9800GTX SLI should be outperforming it though -
-
a 8800gtx outperforms the 9800gtx at high resolutions with alot of AA/AF, so how can a 9800gtx sli beat the gx2 but not the 8800gtx sli? The 9800gtx is just a slightly overclocked g92 gts. -
Sounds like to me, someone does not want to admit the defeat of the 8800GTX SLi
-
there is no defeat lol, look up benchmarks and it will show that gaming at 1920 reoslution with aa/af the 8800gtx beats the 9800gtx...therefore if the 9800gtx sli beats a gx2, then the 8800gtx sli does in high res....my gtx's will never be defeated!!!...however i do plan on saying goodbye to them when the new cards come out in june
anyways back on topic, is anyone on the server "Set"? im on that one, didnt like pvp -
Said should. At optimal condition but this is not the case
Anyway, the HD 3k/GF9 serie shouldn't even had to be made imo. The could have called the 9800GX2 the 8800GX2, the 9600GT the plain 8800, the ATI 3690 the ATI 2800XT, the 3850 the 2950 and the 3870 the 2970. -
At least my post was more helpful by posting links in reply to someone wondering about the UI...can't say the same for yours. -
-
What race and class did you guys end up with?
-
im a stygian demonologist, on server "set"
-
How is the game anyways? There are no real reviews online that I can find yet. And I am "WoWed" out.

Cool, thought I'd try being a Aquilonian Assassin, totally different from any other character Ive used.

Where is everyone leveling after 40? I dunno where to go.
-
You're @ 40 already???
I haven't started AoC yet so don't know how fast the leveling system is. what's the level cap for phase 1?
I need to free up 32GB of HDD space on the lappy in order to install the game. Probably will just play off the quadcore gaming desktop until I do.
What server types are people on? I'm looking at RP/PVE or RP/PVP and plan to play a necromancer which I enjoyed in the beta. -
39 Here! About to be able to use my mammoth!
Name - Redmond
Guild - Egocentric
Sever - PvP - Tyranny -
The leveling is pretty quick if you stick to it. I find the interface for grouping/quests/chat kinda clunky. That definitely needs to be improved. I've found out how to do the things I need to do but without the forums I would have never figured it out (like how to get yourself in the same instance as another person or claim quest rewards when you inventory was full). Also, I have the following specs:
C2D T7250 2.0 gz, 8600m GT, 2 gb ram
While my computer is far from top of the line, its enough to play any game out right now at decent settings yet I get horrible to decent performance in Conan depending on where I am. Sometimes i'll log on and get 15 fps at best and others I'll get 40 fps most of the time. Its very inconsistent. I've yet to find the problem. I just got out of Tortage (level 21) so I'm just really getting started. I'll let you know what i think later on. -
soo, which laptopvideo2go driver is everyone using for this game? Should I upgrade from 174.82?
Can anyone confirm that the 175 series are better for the game?
THanks!! -
175.16 is supposedly recommended for the game.
-
Levelling is designed to be about 250 hours (playtime) to max level. (80)
So yeah, it's fast on purpose AND early levels are designed to be breezed through.
This is designed to be like WoW where you are max level easily in a month or so, not like lineage2 where it took years of play to reach endgame.
Level 40 isn't really difficult as some people were in early release and took work off to play all day for three days, but that isn't even necessary.
I know for certain a few 4ish hour sessions will get you to 20 if you are familiar (like pre-WoW MMORPG gamer) with this type of game.
Dont be in a rush though... I find myself finding mobs to see if I can kill them in a row with fatalities...
I think I will fit nicely as an Aquilonian Dark Templar. -

My Age of Conan folder takes up 24GB of space! They probably recommend 32GB so you have enough room for patches and extra content.
-
Understand that they probably also install DirectX and other windows pieces which don't go in that folder.
Odds are if you have a lot of recent games you already have most of it.
I had 40 gigs when I installed it and have 14.6 left now.
Thats 25.4 Gigs of actual new space taken up doing the math.
No guarantees thats how it works for everyone as mine is updated and tweaked constantly. -
This has probably been asked several times but I've been looking and can't find an answer but how do you think my lap will run the game?
Specs in Signature
Thanks -
You'll be fine on low at 1400x900 bmwm3oz.
Also, is there a general consensus on which server most NBRers play on?
Thanks. -
How come there isn't a game review on this game ANYWHERE? Are they waiting for the European release or what?
-
Peter Bazooka Notebook Evangelist
There aren't any reviews because usually reviewers try to beat the game before posting a final verdict on a game. In this case I doubt they will beat the entire thing but they will probably see most content before making a verdict.
-
It's because MMOs almost never have an official review immediately on release.
Gamespot's WoW review was a few weeks after the release, iirc.
Think about it, they need to get to end game and see a lot of the game prior to putting up an intelligent review. Anything less and its just a first impressions statement and not a review.
This game is huge so just be patient. Also, Gamespot users have ranked it around 8.5 which is pretty dang good for the beginning of the release. On that score roughly 40% gave it a perfect 10. Most of the people who don't like it gave it a 1 just because their comp couldn't run it. Duh people! -
The people that gave it a 1 are just retarded I mean...There is obviously NO way that this game can receive a 1. Maybe a 3 or 4 but not a 1 I mean what the hell?
But yeah I'm going to buy it anyways and play it on my laptop and then in about 1 month I'm going to start ordering new Desktop parts to max this sucker out because I really wanna play this game to its full extent...I'm so sick of WoW's cartoon graphics -
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
IGN usually posts a pre-review preview of the game a week or two after it comes out.
-
My buddy has a notebook with an x600 in it... I want him to play Age of Conan with me. Are there any 3rd party drivers that will increase the performance and put it over minimum sys requirements.
-
-
lets be fair... while the "1" ratings are not quite on, the "10" ratings and reviews are also not correct.
Conan is by far my favorite MMORPG so far early on... but the interface isn't the best for sure. Who knows what the endgame is like... -
So is everyone here playing on Deathwisper? Is there a guild there with alot of NBR members?
I don't want to read 30 pages to find out if this was already posted.... -
That's true but I mean...The game deserves a 10 more then it deserves a 1 in my opinion. I know what you are saying but in reality no matter what the end is it should never get a 1. The possibility of it getting a 10 is much higher by now then a 1...Right?
I mean look at GTA IV. The MOST OVERRATED game in my opinion... You never know what Age of Conan will get. -
Only at level 9, but here are some screen shots, someone already is riding a mammoth.
-
I am gonna buy the game but I doubt my computer will be able to handle it.
I got a 2,6 GHz Core 2 Duo Penryn processor, with 4 Gigs of Ram(on Vista 32 Bit) with a 200 GB 7200prm Hard Drive and a Geforce 8600m GT 512 DDR2.:/
I really struggle with games like Crysis, and WiC so I am afraid I wont be able to play this game decently.
I just formatted my computer to make a new install for AoC so it can have the best performance. I got all the best drives and I where only able to obtain 3251 in 3Dmark06:/
My goal would be to run Conan in my native resolution(1280x800) but I doubt I will be able too.
I think I wanna play on a PvE server, but end game for me will be PvP. I am afraid that when sieging and all that, that the framerate will drop to unplayable with many people fighting on screen at once.
Damn.Want to play this game so bad!
-
Hi guys, I just read a review of AoC and it looked great! And since I am from Norway I have to play this game=)
However I have only my laptop these days- xps m1330- so I was wondering what settings, if I will be able to play it at all, I can expect.
I get around 1900-2000 on 3dmark 06. 3GB ram. 2.10 penryn
Thanks=) -
how does SLI 7950GTXs with C2d 2.16ghz handel this game o_0
