Have fun dude, thanks alot!

Does anyone have a more comprehensive explanation of how to get this "getbot" working. I think I officially fail at life.
EDIT: How long did it take people to finish the download? -
-
Don't worry, I got 16 kb/s with getbot and 30 with torrent so you're not alone.
-
im just going to wait until 7est
-
YES! I got it working. Thanks so much tangent!
-
well you have to do the g-rightclikc thing to get high speeds
-
Does there need to be any modded INF file or does it have to be the specific one
-
Thank you sooo much for these links!!
P.S.
Anyone have an auto-clicker?
seems like you can't leave getbot for more than 10 minutes for about 100 connections to dissapear.
But wow 300 KB/s over wifi when I usually max out @ 160..... -

Is there any place to get those new drivers optimized for Bioshock for the 8600M GT?
-

I am downloading via torrent.
-
Getbot keeps on crashing randomly even though I get 500+ KB/s. Downloading it on its own gives me 25KB/s. Oh well, i'll wait till the whole craze dies down.

lucas862004, no I don't have AA enabled but I couldn't find it anywhere in the options menu. I think this game doesn't support it, kinda like S.T.A.L.K.E.R didn't.
But trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Mike. -
It seems forcing AA works in DX10 mode only according to gamespot.com forum.
-
-
Lack of AA really showed on mine.. The touch sensitive volume controls on the m1330 were mapped to keys, it was really annoying.

Got it the way the OP suggested (although the demo should be released officially right now, so it doesn't really matter). Some screens:
-
Runs fairly well on my Go 7950 GTX. 1440x900, max settings, averaging 30-40 FPS. There are some quirks though: the load time (particularly the second one) is ridiculously long. And the weird thing is, after a few seconds sitting on the load screen, my hard drive stops showing activity, but it still just sits there for another minute and a half or so. I guess it's just a bug or something...
Also, it keeps crashing to desktop at random parts. I've played through it twice and haven't been able to reach the end of the demo yet. I guess this is why the demo got delayed so much. I already reserved it on Steam; I hope the final game isn't this buggy... -
Did you put any AF or AA on? Just found about the stuff about Get Bot... Nice program...
-
steam demo has been up just incase anyone wanted to know

Please use torrents.

quick question, for my desktop, my x700 only has shader model 2.0, and the games requires as a minimum that i have shader model 3.0, when i run this demo its all blacka nd white and wont show anything except for the fire and looks to be water falling but in the shape of a square, can my card not run this? im guessing it cant but i just want to know if it isnt a driver issue or glitch

almost done the waiting line @ fileshack!

I'm downloading the demo through Steam, and maybe that will solve my (extremly annoying) crashing problem. LaptopVideo2Go just modded the "Bioshock drivers" (aka, 163.44), but I don't know if I want to risk untested (for laptops, anyway) drivers when the stock Sager ones work so well (except for Bioshock, apparently).
As a side note, if you lower the resolution to 1280x800 there is practically no loss in image quality (compared to 1440x900), but you get a ~10 FPS boost to your framerate (so you average 40-50 FPS at max settings). I will be playing through the final game at 1280x800, max settings. -
W00t! Can't believe it ran on my Go 6600 128mb...
Getting 30-40fps by using the MIN settings at 640x480...
oh well...
I wish my new lappy can come earlier...
-
8600M GT: Odd, turns out this game, like all other UT3 games, can't keep a steady 30FPS and keeps fluctuating from 20-30FPS on any graphics setting (excluding everything lowest/off) with not much difference in resolution going from 1024x768 to 1440x900. I guess our last chance is these new fabled "Bioshock" drivers which'll hopefully get a modded inf soon.
Edit: It's worth noting though that unlike other UT3 games this game is playable at low frame rates due to ACTUALLY BEING CODED FOR PC. Meaning there's absolutely no lag in controls at frame rates as low as 10FPS. So views on playability will differ much more from person-to-person. But overall it is a very playable and fun game. Definitely worth a purchase as the first of many great new FPSs coming out soon. -
Anyone have the link to the ATI driver update for an ASUS z96j?
-
darkcond0.. did you find the game easy to play through? I just ran through the demo with my Inspiron 1420 and I found it difficult to make some things out. I'm really on the fence about getting the full version..
-
Easy? Not really. It wasn't very smooth, kind of reminds me of chunky peanut butter... small chunks though. It was playable though, and even more so if the settings are tweaked further. I'm not too sure i'd buy it either. My screenshots make the game look prettier than it actually is while playing.
-
ah thanks for the pics! sad that the screens make it look prettier, lol
-
Heh prettier mostly by hiding the AA, if you're happy with everything else then gogo
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
New drivers nvidia and ati released specifically for bioshock should solve some of the issues.
-
Hopefully those drivers will be up and running soon.. And I guess I'm not the only one who ran into problems with the 8400m.. I really had my fingers crossed that my rig would barely run it well enough to buy.
-
anyone try them out yet?
-
difficult to make out in what way?
I had no problems getting through it. It was very smooth too. -
-
*slaps self* good point
Abyss are you using your 8800 gtx? If so then it most definitely would be smooth -
yeah, my point was, the game isn't choppy, or hard to make out (for me) I mean it isn't confusing, and it flowed fluidly, was dark in some places, but not even scary (and I'm a big ***** when it comes to that).
However, if you mean hardware wise I can't advise you (because as you pointed out it would be smooth) -
the modded INFs for the 163.44 driver's are available on laptop2go
-
Now, the question I have is whether to bother trying to get my SLI to work with it...
Argh.
The 165's worked, and SLI said it was enabled, but Steam & Source wouldnt detect the other GPU. So... I'll have to play around after I get the game. If its playable with my current drivers, I'm leaving well enough alone.
By Joga's accounts, the Sager 9260'ers with SLI (if mathematically computated out, since he was 30-40fps at max with 1440x900) should be able to pull 30-40fps with 1600x1200.
And, how pretty is the game at non-native res? Is there much noticeable scaling issues or pixelation? -
-
Here's the link I used, in case the other ones listed are getting a bit slow. I was downloading at 500KB/s here:
http://games.internode.on.net/filelist.php?filedetails=10800
And FYI, I found the game a little sluggish on my 7800 go at 1360x768 and medium settings. I'm sure it'll run better once I bump the res down, though.
Weird game -
this demo ran great for me on medium settings for my desktop
1024x768
dual core 2.66GHz Pentium D
512mb geforce 7300
2gb ram
used the new nvidia driver for bioshock -
It ran fine for me at 1280x768 with everything at high
