My friend prefers destruction... but will switch to see me play.
I am not really stuck on either side, but tend to dislike massive "easymode".
(Destruction was on perma-win mode every time I played on the servers I tried. Note that was both servers and I never saw an order victory ever.)
My buddy is hooked on his marauder and witch elf.
Both of his favorites tend to win 2v1 and 3v1 situations, even killing targets with healbots spamming behind them in tier3... I can say without reservation that those two classes need to be toned down... and they are likely the reason behind the massive destruction overbalance.
(every single server has more destruction than order every single time I was at the login screen)
Note, this isn't really a problem unless they don't fix it as EQ, L2, WoW, and Conan also had "god-classes" and "don't bother" classes.
(anyone remember the necros from EQ1? their PET would solo an entire zone while they sat down)
The shaman sounds interesting... anyone play one?
Contrasting that, anyone played the Elven Archmage? (the same mechanic only Order)
-
-
I have played the shaman abit and find them to be alot of fun, good mix between healing and ranged offense. My current favorite though is my squig herder (I play on brettonia). You will find that order tends to target us little goblins alot because we go down quick unless we have a healer on us. Have a potion ready!
As for the population of order vs chaos, on Brettonia, it is about even. My win/loss ratio is about 4/3 in the instances and open RvR areas. I really, really hate bright mages and dwarf tanks...... -
I love my ironbreaker! I can't wait till I can start punting people across the screen.
-
Soooo close to 40! I just hit Rank 38 and renown Rank 31. I can taste the demise of Order. *contemplates*

Can you guys post your laptop specs if you use it for warhammer please? Also, what kind of fps you get would be nice too!
Thanks -
-
Mine are in my sig and they played through at least tier 1 in both empire and (most of tier 1) greenskin area maxed out at 1440x900 with no client hitches at all. (there is some server lag)
I didn't have a FPS meter running, but then again I never needed to... I never saw even a minor slowdown.
Given what I have seen, I would guess anything recent (core2 duo late 7xxx or any 8xxx series) can play WH quite well with the higher-end ones being more capable at higher resolutions. -
How about the GeForce 9600? Im a newb when it comes to GPUs.
-
Your specs are roughly the same as panda... and one-1.5 steps (depending on if you have DDR2 or DDR3) below me GPU-wise and a few steps higher CPU-wise. (while overclocked, mine is roughly a 9700GT at stock)
I doubt you will have any real problems at 1280x800 on max and maybe even 1440x900 or 1680x1050 if you turn down some settings.
Warhammer is not a graphically intense game, so odds are anything recent will play it fine. -
I play on Volkmar and I'm on the order side. I'm an engineer currently, and I'm starting to get some fun Nades. Good times for all!

As I remember, 2 or 3 of those DoKs were nigh unkillable and just plain nasty damage output.
(now this is only if in melee and only if they understand teamwork!)
My BO loved them, and my BW hated them with a passion...
(will you PLEASE DIE!) -
Hey anyone know much about setting the key bindings for action bars? The only action bar i can tell in the key bindings list is the main numbered one, which duh, i don't need to make new key bindings for... i have a logitech G9 mouse and want to map some common spells and abilities to it.
Thanks in advanced... -
The other action bars are numbered 113-125 etc in your settings list. You can tell what they are by looking at the keybind modifers such as Alt+1=113 I believe. Use your logitech set point to create the keybinds how you want them.
The mouse 4 and 5 buttons can be easily mapped in the game's keybinds gui, the only problem you will have is if you hold down the right mouse button to turn (or both) and want to spam your side buttons at the same time. To fix this issue you will need to assign a key bind to the keyboard and then use your logitech software to assign a mouse button to that keystroke. If you are using vista just make sure you have uac (Admin Control) disabled or it will not work in game but you can have a mouse click type e for example all day in word. -
Thank you very much!

Any word on a free trial? I won't be wasting $50 on something that might not run on my machine (P8400, 4GB RAM, Radeon 3470 if anyone might know).

Does anyone know if there is any sort of voice chat support like in WoW, or does ventrilo work or anything?
-
mullenbooger Former New York Giant
Vent just works in the background separately, so it works for any game
-
have you used vent for warhammer? i tried and i could hear my friends on it but while playing the game my hot key would not work and thus i could not talk to them. they were not playing warhammer. has anyone actually used vent with warhammer?
-
-
Any Oceanic players here?
-
-
running on vista 32 bit now and havnt encountered any vent issues while in game
been playing since Stress testing. btw how much wud a preorder code cost i have an extra one lying around xD hahahaha if anyone wud care to buy it lol
-
Hmmm... So on Vista 32 bit you have no problem using push to talk with vent and warhammer?
-
Is the graphics requirement very high? I just bought a Sager 5793 for photographic use with a 9800 GTS 512MB, will it run decent on 1920x1200?
-
Edit: On a side note, if you disable the UAC in Vista, you'll be fine too. -
Anyone tried running WaR on a Gateway 7811FX? If so I would love to know how it performed.
-
To get the hotkey for vent to work while in game, simply turn UAC (User Account Control) off in the user settings in the control panel.
-
Hey thanks guys for all the help! I'll try things out tonight. I play WAR on my 7811FX and it runs great! The 9800m gts never drops below 30fps and is usually around 50-70fps with 177.85 Xfastest driver and stock clocks highest settings and 1920X1200. If you OC it runs even better but i find it pointless to put the gpu through the extra strain and heat b/c any more fps is just for bragging rights really, but i haven't gotten to tier 4 RvR yet with hundreds of players on each side.
-
Thanks for the tips about Vent! I'll have to try it this evening when I make it home. I'd been meaning to turn the UAC off anyway and just hadn't gotten around to it, so thanks for the push!
-
WAAAGH! So close to Renown Rank 40.
-
-
I have played A LOT. So no worries.
-
One month behind or less...
Doesn't seem "so far" to me...
What class KockM? -
Zealot ftw
-
i edited driver info i use with my 7811fx. sorry for type-o-.
And running vent as administrater solved ventrilo issues... thanks again -
Anyone have any tips for playing on a 1330, (8400M GS, 3 GB, T7500).
Thanks -
What kind of tips? Like settings and such?
-
When I played on my m1330 I got terrible micro stutter. It wasn't that my FPS was low, it was just really jumpy. I read in other forums that people were having this same problem with ultra high-end desktops, so it wasn't my specs. I was playing at 1280/800 at low settings at about 30fps. Is the micro stutter fixed? Last time I checked, Mythic hadn't even acknowledged the problem.

I am happy to report Vaio AW-190 laptop plays Warhammer very well. I have everything maxed and hardly any lags at least in scenarios.
-
@PapaChains: I think it is the overheating. I guess I should just go back to WoW
That is all that will run on this system.

So anybody really like the game and feel its better than the other MMO's (try to think outside the box and view the game from a 3rd person view and not let the idea its a new game effect your decision) I played open beta and just did not really feel it.
The game felt bland and kind of boring to me, lack of individuality in the characters, very standard spells and combat. It was more like wow that I wanted it to be.
So can anybody say it has improved in any way since release? -
I didn't do the beta, but I bought the game when it went live. Played for a few weeks, and quit before my 30 days kicked in. Had fun with scenarios, but thats about it. Was too close to WoW for me, i'd rather just play WoW. And i'm not a WoW fanboy at all, to be honest I prefer a FFXI grind/subjob system.

Yeah I had been tempted to go back to FFXI, its one of the best but you have have a lot of time to give to it. Not a very casual gamer game except some at the low levels.
Be in a big fight and have to go afk for one of the kids and come back and the entire party is wiped and we lose XP... that would be bad.
I miss the jungle area with the little plant guys that was the best xp grind area for how far I was in the game, kind of miss that haunted castle thing just outside of jeuno too with the big hole you can fall into. Had some dragoon knight/theif sneak attack action going on there
Game sucked for me when I was dark knight or dragoon even tho I loved those classes because I could spend HOURS looking for a party, but when I re rolled redmage/blackmage it was all goodeven had my sexxy female human cloths set (forget what its called been so long, the short red shorts & cool hat)
I also do not miss camping rare spawns one bit, esp when JP players get a good one second lead on you.
FFXI did something that none of the other games did for me, it made me feel on my toes, like my life mattered and when you were just strolling thru somewhere if you saw some mean mob near you, you would get scared and run away kind of like if you were in the game and role playing your character. No WoW, meh I just died for the 500th time running thru that dungion no biggie. -
So I have to ask, how are the WAR fans doing?
My friend is now even a little disenchanted as the massive PvP events tend to lag out now. (its server lag in his opinion as his machine is an SLI 8800 desktop with a quad core.)
Balance is off... and classes range from "everyone and their uncle plays one because they are unstoppable" to "you should reroll or quit" classes.
Apparently they plan on adding some of the cut-at-release classes back in, but they still have some pretty big issues to deal with.
The real test is the first few month after the first few months when everyone is still exploring the game.
Any fans still out there or did this one tank too? -
when i first brought war i had never played wow before the only previous games i had played from the mmo genre were guild wars and lotro. First impressions of the game were good apart from some performance issues that sort of got smoothed out the game felt alright to play. I have to say im into pve and pvp as i enjoy questing on my own and joining up with mates to do dungeons ect. A big down side to this game is that the pve just feels so half assed asif it was an after thought. Played through into teir 2 getting into the scenarios which are fun but after a while start to think is this all im doing to level up? yes i was because the pve was just so boring empty player quests making them unable to complete and things like that. I quit before my 30 days of the game were out and decided to go out and buy wow. The game has its good and bads, but in the end the game isnt well rounded enough for the mounthly fee you would be paying for.
-
Most left because of the glaring class imbalances that really don't manifest until Tier 4 (30+), along with the fact that there is way too much crowd control in RvR. The game litterally changes from a skill based game to a CC-infested /assist train after Tier 3.
I'm personally giving them until after the December patch to remedy this, but if they can't or won't, then I'm throwing in the towell myself. I realize this sounds overly critical of Mythic and the game, but someone has to say it. -

So who are the overpowered classes at T4?
Ironbreaker?
I was a Sorc and I know they were well hated at lower levels.
