If you use a custom mod for your characters in SFIV, would someone online be able to also see the mod or not? I think not but still...

Has information about the upcoming GTA been leaked? It's been 1½ year since GTA IV so there should be some information up very soon. GTA: Vice City got released only a year after Liberty City so it's not impossible to see a new GTA game next year.

Diablo
Starcraft
Age of Empires 1 or 2
The Sims

I've never played Fallout 3 for one particular reason. I don't like RPGs. RPGs in the classic way of taking out experience points, and fighting via turn based, etc. I just do not like those type of games.
Fallout 3 seems to be very different though. I wish it was a first-person-shooter or an action type game, but the thing is I don't know what it is.
I tried reading about it but I am still confused. Some videos show it as a Crysis, Far Cry 2, Half Life 2 type of game, and other videos show cinematic shooting scenes with turns.
Can anyone explain? I really want to play it but if it is a typical RPG then I will skip. How is the combat system? I like CoD4 type of games and action like GTAIV. Not typical RPGs. Damn I want this game but don't want to get it if it is a typical RPG.
Thanks for the help! -
Hey WaR I noticed you have a T9600. How hot does it run?
-
Fallout 3 is tricky.
On the surface, it's basically oblivion with guns, with the many of the same RPG elements as oblivion but different gameplay and a sci fi setting.
Just looking at the combat, you can more or less play it as a normal shooter. With the exception that your damage numbers are based entirely on stats and that headshot/weak spot hits will generally only kill an enemy a little faster than torso shots. Also, the accuracy of your weapons is based heavily on stats as well, and the assault rifles will feel more like shotguns at first.
VATS, the turn based method of fighting, is totally optional. You basically are running around like a normal shooter, then you hit a button and the game pauses. You can then select an enemy and a location to aim for, and it gives you a percentage chance to hit that spot and estimates how much damage it will do. After you're done targetting then the fight will play out in slow mo, and your character will stand in place and fire at the enemies for a bit. While this is happening it is possible for enemies to move around so you no longer have a clear shot at the part you aimed for by the time you fire (thus missing), and enemies can still attack you but they will do half damage.
If you don't hit the VATS button, you can ignore that last paragraph and play it in real time albeit not quite like a real shooter.
Outside of combat, it is very much an RPG, with questing and looting and levelling and stats and skills and whatnot.... Much of your time will be spent outside of combat if you play the game normally. -
Well, now to find a good deal on it! I think Steam already had a sale on it. Crap. -
You're better off waiting, as a collector's edition will be out this month, containing the original FO3 + all of the expansions for $50.
-
Hmmm... I would never buy a $50 dollar game. I'm just not that passionate about them. But would definitely pick it up if on sale. Steam is know for this, no? I will follow your advice though, and wait for a deal on that collector's edition then.
Do you think it will be available on Steam though? -
50 bucks for a game aint that bad, jsut consider, that here in Europe, I found some of the latest games for 70 EUROS!

Been having fun playing stick war during particularly boring classes.

Sidescrolling browser based stick figure war RTS game. Generally you can only give basic orders but you can also single out an individual unit and control them directly, giving that unit a boost in strength while you "pilot" it as well. -
oooooooooooh i loved that game
it does get kinda hard tho.... -
hey all, random question:
I'm planning on buying a game (COH + 2 Expansions on special) off Steam tonight, and it will be my first game purchase through Steam. I have always enjoyed having a copy of the game on disk, but for this deal I am willing to make the sacrifice. Random question: so will this game be permanently installed on my computer? What if I want to reformat? Sorry if it's a noob question! Thanks for your help,
-AlyH -
If you reformat, the game disappears.
-
And i'm assuming i'd be able to re-download and install without charge? I know these questions sounds dumb, but I just want to make sure!
On another note, anyone played the COH expansions? They worth buying? -
I think it counts as a new download, therefore paying again, but no idea there...sorry
-
You will never have to pay for redownloads on Steam.
But, you can just copy your Steamapps folder, and you'll never have to redownload anything. -
Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated!

urgh...just purchased and downloaded COH+Opposing Fronts off Steam and it worked at first, but after installing a few updates (Windows Vista graphics something) it needed it doesn't work anymore...i'm making my way around the Steam forums to try the different fixes etc etc...right now it's redownloading (another hour and a bit), and suffice to say, my first experience purchasing and installing a game off Steam has been quite ty...

Question:
I made only a copy of my Steamapps folder and documents from Vista before doing a clean Install of W7. I installed Steam on my new W7 but my game saves are not there.
Example: My street fighter IV unlocks are not there anymore. Even though I have the save files on my Documents.
Anyway to get the saves back? I think I have all files. -
Keep the files you saved someplace separate, do a clean install of the game, start a game and make a save. Then try to find where the new save file is and match it up to the files from your old install and move them over. -
I solved this back then by changing the name of the save files to match the new installs. Still, thanks man.
-
Thank you beforehand. -
Well for example, the save file from Street Fighter IV was called something like, 1234. When I reinstalled the game a new save file was created. The file inside was called, say, 5678. I just removed that newly created file 5678, and renamed the 1234 file to 5678.

I cant stop playing AoE3 in full 1080p everything maxed out, so fun and nice.

Has anyone tried the Arma 2 CAA1 Mod? It allows you to play missions that were originally designed for Arma 1 but in the Arma 2 game engine. It works really well. If anyone is interested just download from here, use a batch file in your Arma 2 root to run the game complete with the very long commandline arguments then download any of the many Arma 1 ported to Arma 2 maps or missions. Great stuff!

-
IMHO RTS is the best kind of game...you can play for hours and never get bored.
-
Well, that's how it seemed for me sometimes. Same thing with WoW. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. -

Is anyone else going to try out Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce when it comes out for the 360/PS3? I'm a little nervous about the changes they are making and if it will focus too much on the whole transformation/air combat/giant boss fight things and dumb down the good old base capturing/mook slaughtering/objective completing mechanics I love from the other games in the series.
Will be great to see online coop, though I wish they could have gotten it into DW6. -
a couple of days ago I was playing through that part of Batman:AA where
you enter one of Scarecrow's hallucinations, and the game looks like your GPU is failing, with weird lines on the screen and scratching sounds. It totally freaked me out, since I never saw the gas coming, and I was SURE my 8600M was finally failing...
It was an awesome effect and very clever, even though it freaked me out badly... -
Especially having a 8600M GT I would be almost crying hahaha jk jk
Necromas and moral_hazard, that is wrong. RTS rules. FPS is all the same, though Halo 3 and MW2 are very good and a lot of fun. -
anyone know a good strategy(new or old one) other than Red Alert 3 <--- Hated it
