Talk about a downgrade... sheesh.

Have it on GoG Galaxy, already running
Intro screen is sexy:
Sorry for just crappy phone photo, PrintScreen doesn't work, don't want to waste time with figuring proper way
Setting everything to Ultra and praying ... -
What's your rig?
-
literally played for like 3 minutes but looks like this will be playable on my 860m!
-
I bet if you turned down the green setting you'd get better FPS, although blue or purple could be causing it to be under 30FPS.
-
I'm aiming for ultra all day long on my titan x
-
MSI GS60 with GTX 970M.
Still didn't start playing though. Little hiccup - my old Witcher 2 saved games are on a different computer, 2.5 GB of files, don't want to start before figuring out proper import...
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Snap. I can't play until about 8 hours from now... Have fun guys.

great! High GPU temps!

So, I got the imports working. Started the game, then lost my mouse input in the middle of tutorial ... and froze my notebook when alt-tabbing trying to solve this, had to turn it off and on again
First impressions: with everything turned on (including all GameWorks features) it looks very pretty. It doesn't really matter how it did look in older trailers.
It's simply gorgeous modern-looking game (it makes Witcher 2 look dated, I just ran it now when trying to figure out which save game to use, there is no question about it, one look at characters is enough).
Performance on ultra though is too much for my poor GTX 970M, will need to play with settings a bit (it doesn't show yet in GeForce Experience).Any_Key likes this. -
Atari 2600 adventure.. Come on man that's easy.

on what settings?how much fps? -
The game looks great on Ultra. Seems all cut scenes (movies) are locked at 30 FPS, which is fine. ShadowPlay isn't working?
Game crashed when I was fighting Ghouls after the tutorial phase.
-
Is there an in-game FPS overlay? I haven't touched the default graphics settings yet, which actually had a few things on medium/high (I assume that the settings were 'recommended' although they could be a generic default).

Try to use fraps or msi afterburner. It sounds okay if you can get 30fps on medium/high settings -
Few quick screenshots via Fraps:
MSI GS60, GTX 970M, 3 GB VRAM: 1080p, 29-32 fps with everything Ultra, including HairWorks and HBAO+, except shadows on high, antialiasing turned off, post-processing silliness mostly off (depth-of-field on)
GPU temp: 84 C
CPU temp: 66 C
fan speed: 5106 RPM

RIP Kepler

(yes I know they used a "semi-final" review build, but judging from what I'm seeing here as well as on other forums, their numbers aren't too far off base)TomJGX likes this. -
Lots of stuttering and pauses in the cutscenes... meh.

Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Argh. 6 hours left before I can get the game...

Hang in there. -

Hang in there pal you'll get it soon enough I thought you werent getting it? -
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Eh, as hypocritical as this might sound, I want the gameplay and quests and storyline as well. I can "suffer" through the graphics, but based on more recent reports, they seem to be fine. As mentioned earlier, I'll make my own opinions when I play it later.
I cannot concentrate on this quantum physics lecture that's going on now... -

I posted earlier in this thread that I wanted to make and use mods in this including possible fixes to some of the graphics and this article makes it look like it will be possible.Just hoping other mods like npc and character meshes will be able to get done.

I can't get passed the beginning where you fight the Ghouls. Not sure why but it freezes... May have to reinstall it.

How depressing that a card I paid 700 bucks for last year (780 Ti) is so far down the totem pole now...TomJGX likes this.

I got a consistent 30-35 fps during the first fight (after the tutorial ended and cutscene). My 860M is overclocked +250/+350. Haven't played with any of the settings yet.Ionising_Radiation likes this.

TBH, I am disappointed with the engine it feels very dated and poor.
Also had some crashes back to desktop and window border appear but mehhh... -
hmmm....so the best i can do is 1600x900 at 30fps on medium settings for reasonable GPU temps to be under 70 deg c.
-
Why under 70C? Trying to pretend you have a Maxwell?
Why are the bushes glowing? -
i don't want to burn out my GPU. i think it looks reasonable on medium.
-
You're not gonna burn out your GPU at 70C. Or 80C for that matter.
TomJGX, Mr Najsman and MichaelKnight4Christ like this. -
ok, i freak out too easily LOL so i might see about 1080p30 at high.TomJGX likes this.
-
Unless you're consistently seeing 90+C temps you won't have issues. I mean my Toshiba with a crappy 350M and even crappier cooling system never went below 80C even on a cool winter day, and 4 years later it's still running just fine.
Also, don't know if you saw my post earlier, but this games runs like ass on Kepler. A desktop 780 gets edged out by a puny desktop 960. What a joke. -
hmmm...the game stays around 75-76 deg C at 1080p30 with medium postprocessing and high graphics (though hairworks is disabled).
-
Anyone manage to get ShadowPlay to work? Prefer not to use FRAPS.
-
here's the game with stats showing the GPU temp at 1080p30 on medium postprocessing and high graphics (bar the hairworks).

That looks like ass (not talking about Roach). The amount of foliage aliasing is unreal.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
960 also gets full 4GB of VRAM (if you're crazy enough to buy one)
-
Yep, and I have AA on in the postprocessing settings and I have no idea what AA it is using. Will have to try the GPU AA.
-
3.5GB or not, 970 is still way faster
-
CDPR's homebrew temporal PPAA according to multiple sources but little info on it.
Should be pretty obvious Control Panel AA won't work since this game is DX11 and lacks built-in MSAA (deferred engine). Only FXAA is compatible but it looks worse than the built-in PPAA. -
Will test when I get home from work. But now I sleep.
-
PPAA = Piss Poor Anti-Aliasing?TomJGX, killkenny1 and Ionising_Radiation like this.
-
I am not liking the performance. Although it reads 60fps or more at times, the performance does feel stuttery for moments. I am not sure if its the post process or some motion blur but it just doesn't seem as fluid as I would like.
It also got one of my GPU's pretty high heh, at 86 C. CPU seems to run between 30 to 85% utilization. -
Post process antialiasing. But that's not way off either (most of the time).
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
So what exactly is the difference between FXAA, MLAA, MSAA, SMAA, SSAA, TXAA, PPAA, AAAA, BBAA, ZZAA?
And then there's ambient occlusion. SSAO, HBAO, HBAO+?
Too damn many abbreviations. We already have enough for hardware. Heck, a single piece of notebook memory's full name is: SODIMM DDR3 SDRAM.
"A GPU is connected to the motherboard via PCIe x3 which in turn is a pipeline to the CPU which uses the LGA/BGA/rPGA connector. You need either a SATA/PCIe/PATA/IDE HDD/SSD for data storage, and sometimes an ODD. The BIOS and now UEFI boots the OS but before that, the POST is run. Newer OSes have a GUI while older ones had a CLI. Ports on the computer include USB, HDMI, VGA, DVI, Mini-DVI, Mini-DP, TRS/TRRS 3.5 mm audio connectors. On a desktop, all of these are in the I/O port at the back."
P.S. The last three AA tech don't exist.Last edited: May 19, 2015
