What's with the Xbox controller prompts then? So they were playing it with a pad?
Anyway let's hold off on accusations of a downgrade until after the game is released and we can actually max it out. The devs have said many times that they won't be showing any pre-release footage at Ultra settings since they are still optimizing it. Every time new Witcher 3 media is released it's the same circlejerk, gets really tiresome.
-
They haven't done any keyboard mapping yet, that's why they play with a controller (that was said after the press event at the beginning of the year).
And for Pax East footage: https://twitter.com/Bacon_is_life/status/574285822624727040
Notice i didn't talk about downgrade, I like how the game looks, just saying that people should not expect too much.
Uncompressed video: http://www.gamersyde.com/download_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_pax_east_gameplay-34215_en.html -
OK that's what he says, but something doesn't add up here.
Why was it shown in the Xbox booth at Pax East? The name of the panel was "What it Takes to Build a Next-Gen Open World Game" and it was presented by CDPR devs with Major Nelson.
Why is the footage 30 FPS and still dropping frames?
Why is there so much aliasing and blur? It looks a whole lot like 900p upscaled to 1080p than native 1080p to me. -
It was in the xbox booth because CDPR had to make a deal with a company to give their game enough visibility. They picked Microsoft and that's why xbox collector edition has a few more things. Without Microsoft CDPR would have missed Pax East.
The uncompressed video looks clearly 1080p. Look how sharp is the HUD. -
The HUD may be 1080p but that doesn't mean the game is. Console games do this all the time, keep the HUD native res while the game is upscaled. Many console ports on PC have this option has well.
BTW the video is compressed (H.264) and pretty low bit rate (lower quality than ShadowPlay) so that may throw things off but the temporal aliasing is very suspect to me.Last edited: Mar 19, 2015 -
Ok I didn't know for console HUD.
But I wonder why you still have doubts. It is only Microsoft who kept the confusion to reassure their fanboys who really think they'll get that good visuals. -
I have doubts about it being PC footage because I don't want to believe in a possible downgrade. XB1 players should be ecstatic with that kind of image quality but it is unacceptable on PC. Look at the 4K screenshot I posted earlier. Sure, it's not at Ultra, but it downright looks no better than Witcher 2, if not worse.
-
The 4k screenshot could be from an older build. And official screenshots have to be flattering.
The release date is very close now, let's just wait some new footage to clarify the situation. -
The funny thing about that is, each time CDPR releases new media, the game looks more and more downgraded. Pretty ironic but I'm not calling it another Watch Dogs just yet.
Not really. Exactly 2 months from today. -
2 month is short. Retail DVDs production will start soon.
-
Oh but you know they will be Polishing the game up until almost release date. Day 0 patch FTW!
-
No they will work on Cyberpunk 2077
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
They will release EE eventually.
-
With DX12. That would be nice
And more cutscenes ^^ -
They still have Witcher 3 DLC to make. Haven't heard anything about Cyberpunk 2077 in years, not since Witcher 3 development ramped up. Guess CDPR is too small to work on two blockbusters concurrently, or they're not willing to spread themselves too thin and skimp on quality *cough Ubi*
It won't be getting DX12: http://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-w...ns-for-dx12-support-4k-resolution-screenshot/ -
They had a small team working on Cyberpunk during TW3 development. I think now the small team will be the one working on TW3 (and its small dlcs).
-
So basically what I said, Cyperpunk 2077 development is paused
-
Running 60 FPS at 1080p Ultra on i7-4790 + GTX 980
Dat dismemberment
-
Hey as long as we can do this (below) with better graphics, I'm happy. I WANNA SEE TEH PROPER DISMEMBERMENT
-
Well ofc you can't compare it with a zombie game. It's gotta be at least somewhat realistc.
-
I meant the kind of dismemberment. See how I cut the arm in half AND their body off? That kind of stuff I've never seen before Dying Light. Usually it's one cut or nothing. If Witcher 3 has a damage model like that, it'd be brilliant.
*is user who modded in lightsaber dismemberment in the Jedi Knight games because he liked to be able to cut off the hands/arms/legs/head/torso*octiceps likes this. -
This game is going to be spectacular. CDPR has always treated gamers like people and not sheep.
-
g_saberrealisticcombat 20 !!!
*Like if you got the reference
-
Bro. I used to use 100. I wanted EVERY KILLING BLOW to do it.
And you can't forget the g_dismemberment 3 -
That command only goes up to 20. Putting it on max made your lightsaber super OP, you so much as touch a Stormtrooper with the tip and he falls apart like a Lego man.

Exactly =D
Edit: I mighttt be thinking of another command... -
Good news. I just hope we can do without a desktop i7
-
it said i7-4790, which is 3.8GHz in speed.
Which means if you had a last gen overclockable-to-some-extent machine, you only need a 4800MQ or 3740QM to be good. But no 4720HQ is getting close to that speed. -
Around 40fps for my 980M then.
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
I wouldn't say that lol, they may have vsync on and really pushing higher than 60 -
they said "60fps almost all the time" so the min fps must be lower. But they did not claim maximum or average, so yeah. No way to know.
-
Disagree. Over 60 FPS. Witcher 2 settings proved that visuals didn't change much in with the various presets. CDP's base visuals are incredible, the taxing aspects are just the extra little bit like AA, supersampling etc. I expect Witcher 3 to be the same.
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
im pretty sure ill be able to max this game with my razer blade with no AA, given my 970m is overclocked....im not worried!
-
At 3K native res? Nah.
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
of course not! 1600x900 or 1920x1080....i was able to nearly max dragon age inquisition(minus AA only) at 2048x1152 with decent frames. Hope this game is optimized -
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - New Gameplay & Technical Information Revealed, Day1 Patch Confirmed | DSOGaming
Gameplay
- There are 4 difficulties (easy, medium, hard and dark) which differ in the skill of the monsters you face. Hitpoints remain the same.
- You can bargain for more money after finishing your monster contract through some sort of minigame.
- The side quests are extremely well made with great writing and branching.
- Potions are a necessity on higher difficulty levels. You only need to craft a potion once and you can refill it if you have enough alcohol present. Potions are upgradeable for stronger effects. Stronger potions will increase your toxicity more
- Novigrad and No Man’s Land are indeed one single map, much bigger than Skyrim. The isles of Skellige form the other big part of the game. Next to that, there are 5-6 other separated locations, including Kaer Morhen.
- No enemy respawning or at the least not very frequently
- Best items in the game must be crafted
- They were very impressed with the story branching and how it is not always obvious. Correcting ‘wrong’ choices by saving/reloading will be very difficult if not impossible.
- Contrary to BioWare games dialogue options are not good or bad, this you will have to figure out for yourselves.
- They really liked the in-game card game Gwent, praising its design.
- The game features two really big cities: Novigrad and Oxenfurt, both very lively.
- The are of No Man’s Land features 25 smaller towns, some of which are the size of Flotsam from The Witcher 2.
- Geralt can rob people, although the system is too easy and feels a bit lacking.
- Journalist (level 7) was one shotted by a wyvern (level 24). No level scaling.
- Ciri sequences will be (in total) 5-10h and feel more like an action-adventure game than an RPG
- Extra storage can be made by crafting saddle bags for your horse.
- Many small details such as Roach stopping to eat apples from a basket
- All equipped items are visible in-game on Geralt
- Fist-fighting is back, this time no QTE
- World never felt empty
- Journalist didn’t encounter any simple fetch quests
- The HUD is fully customizable. Icons and quest markers on the map can also be deactivated. Audiovisual hints (e.g. people screaming for help) will be present if you wish to do so.
- Journalist encountered no clone NPC’s
- Controller feels superior to keyboard+mouse.
- The extremely annoying doors from The Witcher 2 are gone. Doors are now opened automatically, no button pressing. No loading times for entering buildings either.
- Day 1 patch confirmed
- Xbox One resolution will stay at 900p
- Geralts beard will grow over time
- Switching between controller and mouse (for menu’s) is easy and fluid
- Most impressive dynamic weather system in any game he has ever played
- They encountered very few bugs, no crashes of freezes.
- Ultra seems to have a big effect on the quality of vegetation and character models[
- No slider for LOD
- Visual gore more prominent than in The Witcher 2

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
I must disagree. TW2 on low looked like crap, not to mention it ran like crap as well. -
Certainly. I hope it will run ok without compromising the image quality too much on my laptop. 770M being a downclocked 660, the minimum, is a bit worrisome, but we'll see.
-
Look great and ran great on high on 675MX.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
If it didn't that would be ridiculous! -
I played it on 675M.. Worked fine, was an excellent game. That opening cinematic was one of the best ever.
-
Nah 970M won't max this game with respectable fps.
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
But remember I wont run in 3200x1800 on my blade, im talking 1600x900 and low or no AA, and overclocked. Im sure it will run great! -
Witcher 3 will surely run great at 1080p medium settings on 970m. This may be one game though where 3GB vRAM might cause some performance issues. But we will see.
-
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
I was going to say, the 970m should do better than that! With my +135/+300 OC im not THAT far behind a stock 980m -
You are THAT far. +135/+350 is only the max default overclock. It's a 15 percent increase in performances, nothing more.
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
-
About halfway to 980M. Glass half full or half empty?
If you hadn't returned your P650SE, you could've flashed the Prema vBIOS and overclocked to well beyond 980M stock performance quite easily.
