Basically he meant that Gecube took the testing card back

that is awesome, is the price range still the same as before? (sub $600?)
-
Price is still the same.

bro ~500€ for this card is just extremely correct, everyone will buy them ! the main issue may be the marketplace, (but ebay can do the job).
I will buy this card DAY ONE !Last edited: Mar 31, 2017 -
guess i'll be stickin' with the MSI 1070 LOL
EDIT: I'd buy 2 if they got SLI working. -
When we could expect to release this card for selling?
-
i guess not possible due to the design.
Early May, End of April. I have already preordered one.sasuke256 likes this. -

Aetina already offers 1050 and 1050 TI in mxm-a but you would need some kind of company as a middle man to make the purchase and aetina prices are awful -
there was a 1050ti 2GB MXM3.0A on taobao, but it looks dodgy and not tested. no idea which company it is from.

Still no LVDS support right?
-
No idea, but can safely assume doesnt work in LVDS
-
I really appreciate that if you inform us when the card is available. Thanks.
-
I have no problem purchasing through my company's IT but $450 usd for 1050Ti......triturbo, ChanceJackson and sasuke256 like this.

Yeap, better wait for GeCube's 1070 MXM B, worth it, even with a 4720HQ haha (CPU limited I choose you !)

Billy was asking for mxm-a so I figured b wasn't an optionsasuke256 likes this. -
How is that P1xxSM/A machines are supported and P750ZM(LVDS batch) isnt ? Both have lvds displays. Is optimus in P1xxSM/A reason of this situation ?ChanceJackson likes this.

That's what i was thinking, just wanted to be sure.
Another thing, how much this card needs power ? Is P150SM-A 180W power supply will be enought for this card ? -
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
maybe, the zotac 1070 comes with a 180w psu but it doesn't haveto power a screen -
Pascal cards are TDP locked with the stock vBIOSes and iirc the only GPU which is greater than 100W is the MSI 1070N It's the most powerful 1070 option. Next up is the Zotac/Gecube and Quadro both are 100W designs which need at-least a 240PSU, Which is recommended for all 980M upgraded laptops.sasuke256 likes this.
-
So does this mean you DON'T need the 120hz display for Alienware M17xR4 and AW17 R1 models then to use 1070?
-
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
Really regret ecycling the 240w dell power suppy i found at work now -
So far the 3xxx series cpus Intel graphics allow lvds to work but the 4xxx series seems to be blocking video output. I tried the 1070 msi version in the aw 17 r1 and it works great on 120hz but no output no matter what I tried on the 60hz.

Due to the Intel FDI but no idea why Haswell isn't working the Intel ARK also says so for the FDI support on Haswell series CPUs. Ivy Bridge tho, Works perfect (With Optimus only ofc - M17x R4)
Maybe Alienware's MUX implementation I guess ? Also giving a shot with Unlocked sBIOS might help..Last edited: Apr 2, 2017 -

Okay so people with the 60hz M17xR4 will be able to enjoy good battery life(Intel HD) and high performance(1070N) then?
-
The pictures mushroom is posting all show clevo vBIOS and old version of GPU-Z which doesn't show the system they are in...not implying anything just an observation...

I mailed Gecube asking about preorders and possibilities to buy for Europeans ! 1070 here we come ! (soon)
ChanceJackson likes this. -
Let us know on what they say. I would be intrested as well in preorder for Europe.
BTW if someone would be looking for bigger power supply for clevos p15xsm/a, ceg got on ebay 230W power supply.Last edited: Apr 3, 2017sasuke256 likes this. -
Last year, I upgraded my MSI GT 60 Dominator from GTX 870m to GTX 980m but I kept on using the original 180W power supply without any problem. Do you think that with 1070, I must have to go with 230W power supply (after the upgrade if that happens
)?
-
For the 1070, (which you will have a little trouble to cool, nice thermal paste a proper heatsink will be needed) I think you may need the 230W. 180W is just just for the 980M. I would highly advise using the bigger power brick..FidaGillani and long2905 like this.

That is true, they only have the testing cards as for now.
Will ask him for real pictures and post here.sasuke256 likes this. -
U guyz think we will have a chance with this in a Clevo P870DM-g?
http://www.aetina.com.tw/products-detail.php?i=201 -
Dremeling the extra space on the internal chassis is nothing. Some nut in China managed to fit a Clevo pascal board in (before noobishly wiring the aux power wrong and frying it)
Apparently Aetina don't want to deal with end customers, and their prices are horrible.
Also, 150W TDP
TomJGX, ChanceJackson and sasuke256 like this. -
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
to be fair the 1070 has a 10w higher tdp iirc so at the very least it probably consumes 10 more watts at the wall -
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
say it aint so!
The zotac/pc partner 1080 mxm seems to be fully spec compliant and as such doesn't require an external power soure why bother with anything else? Unless you need MXM-A cards specifically Aetina can just be ignored since they don't want to deal with end users and their prices are horrible -
The question is will the heatsink line up with the gpu die?
Sent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk -
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
the gpu die should be in the same place in all compliant cards however other parts of the card may require mods to the heatsink -
I'd be interested if it uses the same power cable as the 980DT.

Based on the Magnus En1080 tear downs I have seen the MXM itself it doesn't use any power cables -
I was referring to this:
http://www.aetina.com.tw/products-detail.php?i=201
Potentially the GDDR5X might be an issue.

Can you link to the teardown of a Magnus EN1080? My googlefu must bow its head acknowledging its inferiority.
Best indication I have seen is a teardown of the predecessor Magnus EN980:
which shows at approx 17-18 minutes:
- Extra board space beyond the 3.0b-spec (but unlike Aetina's, only for approx half the width)
- An ATX/desktop 8-pin PCIe connector

- A full waterblock
with copper core
and mixed metals
- An ungodly amount of goop for what must be an appalling fit with said waterblock

the 150W TDP wouldn't be so much of a problem because u can mod the heatsink a little or use the 200W gtx 980 one. I think the size is just right, and u have already the extra juice slot on the mobo (2 of 4 pin aux power in fact). My problem was if the laptop itself will be able to use this card on a hardware and software level(bios / vbios compatibility).
The other thing I was thinking about was 2X gtx 980 180W from Clevo P775DM1 in SLI. -
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
that en980 was using the desktop 980 chip while the en1080 uses the mobile mxm, I'll try to find the review that shows the internals
Edit: By en980 uses "Desktop chip" I meant full fat "maxwell" silicon chip put on an MXM card, like the Taobao MXM RX480 as in, not a "mobile" version of the chip like the mythical Radeon e9550 or a mobile chip given the same name like 980m
Also fixed en1070 typo to en1080Last edited: Apr 6, 2017
