I don't have quotes for those aetina cards.
That link is the only info i know about amd polaris mxm card

aetina doesnt sell to end-users, and embedded GPU often doesnt work in normal laptops.Aroc likes this.

Are there oems/odms which use aetina mxm gpu cards?

I wonder if there's a way to bypass the EC of sorts?

I think 4 or 500 for the 1050s when I asked them -
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
Isn't that only in cases where firmware/vbios doesn't support lvds or eDP? Is there another maker of 1050s whose vbios can be copied? -
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
Even if you could bypass EC there is no way to get that to output eDP or LVDS but I wonder what would happen if you took the vbios of official Polaris 10 mxms and flashed it to the taobao rx480Last edited: May 8, 2017 -

Not on the laptop screen -
Heard from Gecube that they ship the 1070 cards today. So they are ready, i guess they send them to the resellers today, dont know exactly where...

well aside from taobao resellers we have no known reseller for now.
@woodzstack has his own store (+ a profile on ebay too) but we don't know if he is going to offer the GeCube 1070 MXM.

Do you have a link to these taobao 1050 ti mxms? -
they might not work, and you might as well get a 970M. around the same performance...Ionising_Radiation, ChanceJackson and sasuke256 like this.

I'm not sure I would bother buying one but I would like to see them for myself especially if they are MXM-A -

Obviously not necessarily fully tested/reliable. I'm not sure how to evaluate how "reputable" the store is - from what I can see, not very. How good is Taobao's buyer protection?
As mentioned above they're MXM A, the 1050 ti is also supposed to have a 30w lower TDP according to Notebookcheck. Whether that's worth it comes down to individual priorities.Last edited: May 10, 2017Ionising_Radiation and ChanceJackson like this. -
if you're an enthusiast gamer then 1070 is the way to go.

GeCube will save us ^^

if you could get a modded vbios for it...that would be even better. the MSI 1070 is still viable if you have the internal space to fit.Aroc likes this.
-
i see. Good buyer protection if you are verified in china, not sure about protection for overseas buyer.
normally for taobao, you evaluate via reading the reviews(comments), dont bother look at the 4.9/5.0 score thingy, almost everyone is a 4.9 -
and the HUGE price. GeCube is plug and play in almost all machines I think (+vbios)?
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Holy moly, we have GTX 970M performance in an MXM-A package.
This is huge, doesn't anyone realise this? -
It's probably not relevant to many, how many laptops even use MXM-A and how many of those owners would be upgrading it?
-
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
to my knowledge only 15" workstations use MXM-A and even that breed is more or less dead now that HP has moved entirely to BGA
That said if you have an eDP or Optimus compatible system with something significantly weaker than a 965m and you want a cheap upgrade with good watt/perf than the 1050ti looks pretty good and an A card will fit in a B slot too.Last edited: May 12, 2017temp00876, Ionising_Radiation and sicily428 like this. -

I have no contact with GeCube.

Google translate.
I actually had a full chat conversion with a taobao seller in aliwant using cut n paste into a browser window and the image recognition in the app on my phone for the stuff i couldn't select
I double translate to see how mangled it ends up and adjust accordingly, as some words are totally minced, like "how much" becomes "how many"...ChanceJackson likes this. -
i can't stand Mandarin Chinese, gimme Cantonese!

they are written in the same chinese characters, just that spoken differently.temp00876 likes this.

mentally i was referring to the spoken, not the written. i really dislike the sounds that mandarin produces...the "sherr..." drives me bonkers.
japanese isn't as bad since it only uses about 2000 chinese characters

Pcb color is basically the only significant difference, which screams reference design.Last edited: May 15, 2017 -
Are there any news of GTX 1060 working with MS GT60-Ivy bridge version or even AMD 9550 MXM?
Last edited: May 14, 2017 -
like i said, Nvidia gave a reference design, but clevo/msi decided that you should buy their new models.Aroc, Ionising_Radiation, sasuke256 and 3 others like this.

190-200w graphics in Nvidia's reference design is not possible. Have you seen one?

may be gecube makes these cards for zotac?Last edited: May 15, 2017 -
does gecube make 1060's ?
-
Indeed i totally forgot that.. well 1060 should be cheap as heck expect 250$ dollars !
-
1070 is only 115~130W.
1080 is only 150W.
Gecube said they made the card with reference design, they didnt design it.
If they copied the design from Zotac, they will be sued right now. -
Sue a company in China
That's sweet
I never saw that happening ^^

MSI 1080 = 200w for Single graphics.
CLEVO 1080 = 180/190w

if zotac release a magnus zbox erx570 gecube could make also that?
zotac made yet an erx480

It is possible but if that were the case why are they waiting till now? Why bother with a different Pcb color? -

I dunno about that, the taobao 1050 ti is about 260
