    Isn't that only in cases where firmware/vbios doesn't support lvds or eDP? Is there another maker of 1050s whose vbios can be copied?

    Even if you could bypass EC there is no way to get that to output eDP or LVDS but I wonder what would happen if you took the vbios of official Polaris 10 mxms and flashed it to the taobao rx480

    Obviously not necessarily fully tested/reliable. I'm not sure how to evaluate how "reputable" the store is - from what I can see, not very. How good is Taobao's buyer protection?
    As mentioned above they're MXM A, the 1050 ti is also supposed to have a 30w lower TDP according to Notebookcheck. Whether that's worth it comes down to individual priorities.

    if you could get a modded vbios for it...that would be even better. the MSI 1070 is still viable if you have the internal space to fit.

    i see. Good buyer protection if you are verified in china, not sure about protection for overseas buyer.

    normally for taobao, you evaluate via reading the reviews(comments), dont bother look at the 4.9/5.0 score thingy, almost everyone is a 4.9

    to my knowledge only 15" workstations use MXM-A and even that breed is more or less dead now that HP has moved entirely to BGA

    That said if you have an eDP or Optimus compatible system with something significantly weaker than a 965m and you want a cheap upgrade with good watt/perf than the 1050ti looks pretty good and an A card will fit in a B slot too.

    I actually had a full chat conversion with a taobao seller in aliwant using cut n paste into a browser window and the image recognition in the app on my phone for the stuff i couldn't select

    I double translate to see how mangled it ends up and adjust accordingly, as some words are totally minced, like "how much" becomes "how many"...

    mentally i was referring to the spoken, not the written. i really dislike the sounds that mandarin produces...the "sherr..." drives me bonkers.

    japanese isn't as bad since it only uses about 2000 chinese characters :D

    1070 is only 115~130W.
    1080 is only 150W.
    Gecube said they made the card with reference design, they didnt design it.
    If they copied the design from Zotac, they will be sued right now.
