que? I was talking P170 model, there is no M.2 (mSATA slot is over near the CPU nowhere near the GPU)

Zotac unveils Magnus ER51060 and MA551 mini PCs with Ryzen CPUs
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Zotac...-MA551-mini-PCs-with-Ryzen-CPUs.223594.0.html

Details are limited, but the ER51060 mini PC will be a first for Zotac to feature a desktop Nvidia graphics card up to the GTX 1070 Mini.

Zotac's popular lineup of ZBox and Magnus mini PCs will be growing even larger come Computex 2017 where the manufacturer is set to show off a host of new models. Perhaps more notably, a handful of these SKUs will also be sporting AMD Ryzen CPUs in addition to the usual Intel variants. Key specifications are very short at the time of writing, but we can expect to hear more as we move closer to the event next week.

The first is the Magnus ER51060 and ER51070 with removable desktop GTX 1060 and 1070 Mini GPUs, respectively. The manufacturer has not yet specified the exact Ryzen CPU for these mini PCs other than the 65 W TDP, so we can at least deduce a CPU option from as low as the Ryzen 3 1100 up to the Ryzen 7 1700. Press images reveal a design not unlike the existing Magnus EN980 with its honeycomb top, 5x USB 3.0 ports, 2x Gigabit RJ-45, USB Type-C, SD reader, and at least five different video-out ports.

The second is the smaller Magnus MA551 with similar 65 W Ryzen processor options. Unlike the ER series above, however, the MA551 caters mainly to multimedia users and will include Thunderbolt 3 support. Ports include 4x USB ports, 1x USB Type-C, 3x video-out ports, SD reader, and Gigabit RJ-45.

As usual, we will update with full specifications and dimensions for these new releases when the official product pages come online.

Arent the "mini" cards all short PCB versions of standand PCIe x16 cards and not MXM?

1080/1070 mini (and "Vega Nano" if/when) and i7s in mITX is awesomely compact power, but working in that space is still like an open paddock compared to the portaloo-esque dimensions of notebooks ;p

Well ... I don't see why not, maybe someone like Gecube can make it happen. I wouldn't mind a 140w GTX1080 that fits the standard and wouldn't force me to dremel the hell out of my chassis or find a place that can make custom made heatsinks :D

................ that has a 1070's performance.. What's the point aside from loosing the avg customer and push him to think that he's got the same 1080-roxor GPU ?
We will see but as far as I'm concerned, it's not correct..

Oh wow thats cool, wish I'd known about that before building a desktop pc with a full fat foot long 1070 gpu!
That would make a great micro pc setup (somehow) but I bet not a cheap final build. And I suppose still the risk of how much life is left in mxm :(
    Still really cool though.

I wonder what vbios its expecting and where youd purchase a vanilla mxm gpu.

i surely wouldnt mind a Max.Q 1080 with performance somewhere between regular 1070 and 1080 :p as long as its got the 1080 core and shader number, theres always overclocking possibilities :D

And there's also godknows how many hard coded limiting "features" built into it and no chance of an unlocked prema-like vbios

Its Pascal Clockblock Edition, with extra throttle sauce.

And anyway I think it'll only be bga, being aimed at thin n lights (aka hot n breakables)

This is the model that comes with Pascal : https://www.notebookcheck.net/Eurocom-Sky-X7E2-Clevo-P775DM3-Notebook-Review.178427.0.html

You could however use a 1060 from MSI, but I am not sure about the older P750DM-G, was it the one where they introduced the 980 DT and it had the extra power connector ?
Because if so I think we have a kit to upgrade it to the 1070 or 1080 potentially.

There are still hardware developers that are following up MXM specifications and designing new products. I guess Nvidia is trying erase our brains and help us to forget about our great past. BGA/disposable GPUs serve NV very well and help them to make more money at expense of all users. So let's demand MXM from all laptop vendors - Make MXM Great Again!

would that mxm card work properly on the MSI gt70 ? i upgraded mine from 870m to 980m and i sure would like to upgrade the 980m to 1070 or 1080 . but what concerns me is power draw. would my 180w + battery ( hybrid power ) setting sustain the 1070 power draw ? what about 1080 in same size/mxm config?

I think this is one of the issues with MXM 3.0b. Even when the cards fit, we needed modified system or GPU vBIOS to make them work.

There's no proper standard otherwise it'd be just like desktops where we can just swap parts(plug n play).

There are different EC implementations for some reason (the controller which monitors the temperature and controls the fan if I understand correctly) and this is why sometimes you need to flash a compatible GPU vBIOS (which supports the EC implementation used by your laptop manufacturer).

    Gecube 3.0b is a 1070 not 1080

Yes way, proper GPUs draw that kind of power in real terms and usually a lot more when overclocked and when firmware restrictions are removed. Huge units like a 17 inch 6kg Clevo can handle it. Razer light'n'bendys which can't even handle stock clocks have completely different design goals and buyers

Also max-Qrap = not MXM = irrelevant ITT

If a GPU eats 180W, it's not gonna fit a 15 mm notebook, ever !
