Nvidia's stock price keeps dropping. Great news for us.

MSI mobile 2060 only exists as BGA for now. 2070/2080 is the same form.

Good luck being able to put your mini itx in your backpack within 10 seconds , leave the house to the next destination.
Go to next destination, pull out mini itx in 10 seconds and use basically anywhere you can use a normal laptop. -
Its been done on OCN a long time ago. My issue is the weight, as that becomes a problem at 20 pounds for flights.

Or just get one of these minis
Deskmini
Zotac Box
Spark
Vortex G65
MSI G25
Those listed above are very powerful for portable besides m-itxdzpliu likes this. -

Most of those are ITX, or STX
-
You still gotta carry a mouse, keyboard, monitor/speakers if you want it to be usable anywhere.
When people say buy mini itx instead of a gaming laptop it baffles me if they don't understand this logic.
I completely understand if some people can manage with a mini itx.
Every product has a place.

Yeah, seen mods that account for this on OCN, but still not something I would want to before just beefing up my laptop instead.ssj92 likes this.

Well...i do bring my G25 out, i have a portable 17.3inch screen, with bluetooth keyboard and G603. it is lighter overall than my old P775DM or M17XR3. You cant game without plugging to a power source anyways, so i have a ultrabook for productivity.

Does anyone know if the Gecube 1050 TI is an mxm version of the desktop card or are they a proper mobile version? (which ironically is superior)
Going by the product road map the 1050s are in the sames column with GeCube's other desktop to MXM conversions.

(Note: My ignorance of the vanilla 1050s caused confusion so I am specifying the 1050 TIs)Last edited: Feb 8, 2019 -

Does it matter? Same thing

In what way does the mobile 1050 having half the number of ROPs as its desktop counterpart make the mobile version superior? -
are you getting because it is MXM type A? no idea if it will even work properly on your laptop, especially the EDP output part. There are only VBIOS for BGA versions though.ChanceJackson likes this.

my laptop has a whitelist for direct edp output to the panel so I have to use optimus & I have no idea how that would work with a 1050 desktop card on an mxm. -

I'm not familiar with the config of the vanilla 1050s, I had the 1050 TIs in mind & according to everything I have seen they have the same render config but the mobile version has higher clocks for the same TDP
I was not aware the vanilla mobile 1050 was worse than it's desktop counter part I'll go back & modify my post.
Wouldn't the desktop vs mobile divide change how I enable optimus (or if I even can) -
i went ahead and got myself a Palit 2080 as it was a good deal. now to get the rest of the components...

Any pictures of the variants of all the new RTX MXM GPUs?

The GT75 VR (or whatever they're calling it now a days) has its MXM card posted somewhere, and Clevo is sticking to their 3.1 B+ standard

The only problem I think to fit the 2080 mxm in the gt73vr is the heatsink...I think it’s upside down.Rengsey R. H. Jr. likes this.

RTX 2080 in GT75 looks huge, even bigger then the GTX 1080/1070 MXM cards.

It looks like a greatly overpriced 1070.
-
It's cheaper than an $1800 2080.
We thought the $700 era for the 600 to 900 series was bad...TheDantee likes this. -
Here is something interesting. It has the same board SKU as the unidentified standard form factor 1070s popping up on ebay: PG418. If you google nvidia PG418, it directs to the nvidia tesla p6 product brief. I wonder if chinese are buying up the blank boards then mating gtx 1070 cores to them instead of tesla cores. Either way, they are both 90W design.
Nvidia has been hogging the reference designs all for themselves.....bastards DO have one on hand, they just chose not to distribute in hopes of pushing BGA machines.

MXM Tesla cards have been a thing for awhile https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Nvidia-...0:g:D1IAAOSw5UZY9mYe:rk:5:pf:1&frcectupt=true
Only they're always very expensive. I never thought about looking up Pascal cards.
As I've said before, the original MXM 3.0b design should have no issue with RTX 2070, GTX 1070, etc. level cards. nVidia chose to kill it off is all.Cass-Olé, Ashtrix, bennyg and 1 other person like this. -

im guessing it will take a while until we see standalone cards for sale online. so far ive only spotted clevo cards at rjtech at pretty hefty prices!

Yeah, I bought my p377sm-a from R&J also got my 980m from them as well, upgraded from a 970m that came with it.
I'll get a 2060 if the group thinks it will fit in the case.jaybee83 likes this. -

So it’s an adaptor that connect from an internal MXM slot to an external pcie adaptor? -
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
If that's the case surely it would an x16 considering MXM is using x16 @ PCI 3.0 unless they are using a chip that only allows x8.

this would sell like hot cake. i would buy one to test RTX 2080 with my old MSI GT60

im sure the bandwidth limitations as with eGPUs via TB would be basically non-existent, only CPU bottleneck left to deal with

Correct me if I'm wrong but as I understand you can only external screen with this adapter.
-
On a laptop like the Alienware M18xR2 you can enable optimus mode (SG) so I'm assuming internal display would work potentially at that point.dzpliu likes this.
The hopeful of keeping MXM 3.0b alive thread!
