Yes but the 6920G is far different from the 5920...its like comparing pineapple to bananas? And less not drag desktops into a notebook convo...The 6920G can actually be regarded as well build, certainly on eof the better ACER notebooks.
-
-
So should i go for the acer one?
-_-
I also somewhat care about looks
Asus looks more sleek than the acer one but the acer one comes at a lower cost with a better processor/hd, however there is only a 1 year warranty on it.
What to dooooo?! -
argh...no. both of them are bad. Go to the What notebook should I buy section and fill out the FAQ!
-
Any reason why the X4500 isn't on "THE BIG CHART"?
Thought I'd see how it compares to my current ATI X1400 for the hell of it. -
You can always use the charts at Notebookcheck. It looks like they are very similar.
By the way, I made a graph using data at Notebookcheck, just for clarity (but the MR X1400 isn't on it). -
Much appreciated.
-
all things being the same... strictly for gaming performance... which would be better? and will it be noticeably better?
the computers are Studio 17 vs Vostro 1710
both with same RAM, same processor T9300.
thanks! -
studio 17. its gfx card is equivalent to the 8600gt, the vostro has the 8600gs which sounds the same but actually has half the number of shaders. performance will depend on the game, but i'd say its 10-20% lower than a ddr2 8600gt/radeon 3650.
please correct me if im wrong, im basing this on what i've read in various threads -
the hd3650 will kick the 8600m gs' butt. the 8600m series are also defective
-
no........
-
care to elaborate on that please?
****... i need to git me some burgers now... -
I think the HD 3650 would be faster.
-
Get the 3650, it's more powerful than the last generation 8600 GS.
-
hey guys
would a ATI mobility radeon HD2600 512mb DDR3 better suited for 3D CAD/Architectural programs than 8600 GT? -
The DDR3 version of the 8600m GT is faster than the HD2600 DDR3, but the DDR2 version of the 8600m GT is slower.
-
But you can soft mod the HD2600 GDDR3 into a FireGL V5600 but you cant do it to the 8600GT into the FX570m. So for a low cost option, the HD2600 would be better. Unless you can find a notebook with the FX570m for a good price.
-
i have a thread that can softmod the 8600GT to quadro
but never heard of softmodding the HD2600 into a FireGL
do you have a link and does have drastic improvements?
I can't find a laptop that has a DDR3 memory of the 8600GT. So far only DDR2.
Do you guys have any suggestions on what is a cheap quadro set up?
I know this isn't the "what should I buy thread", but this is focused of video cards right now. My budget is under $1000, hopefully, and i was going to get the Quadro NVS 140. Would a HD2600 beat that in performance?
I can't find any benchmarks on these mobile cards for cad work...
thanks for those who helped and can help -
The XPS m1530 has the ddr3 version. So does the Asus G1S.
-
hhm...where is an article on softmodding the HD2600 to a FireGL?
-
Bump, I still can't find any article about Softmodding the HD2600...
-
Hey I've been thinking of getting a new laptop, my laptop currently has...
HP Notebook
Dua core 2.4ghz 4g RAM Nividia 8600M GS 240gb 7200RPM Dual Hard Drive
The one I've been looking at has...
HP Notebook
Dua core 2.4ghz 4g RAM Nividia 9600M GT 320gb 7200RPM Dual Hard Drive
Should I keep this laptop or purchase a new one. -
According to 3DMark 06 scores you are going to double your 3D performance. It depends on you if that justifies a new laptop...
-
It's a decent step up gaming wise but overall i'd say keep your old lappy and build a desktop for gaming as you will see a better performance increase for your dollar
-
what are the differences between
256MB DDR3 nVidia® GeForce Go 7900 graphics card thats ships with the dell 1710
and the 512 ddr3 9600 gt?
is it worth spending an extra £80-00 on the 7900?
thanks
dave -
Some info.... *pretty good ones too*
http://www.nvidia.com/HelpMeChoose/index.aspx?qid=1
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Nvidia_Graphics_Processing_Units
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/132
What are the usage patterns you are looking at?? -
On DeLL UK I see the 1710 as offering the 256MB Go 7900 or the 512MB 7950. No 9600m GT. I would not pay more for 7900 over 9600m GT I think it would be the other way?
Now a 7950 for £120 well that is a good chunk of change I don't think I would spend. -
yeah the 7950GTX is a beast but soon it wont be able to hold up very well.
I would actually say the 9600m GT in this case. -
Hi Guys thanks for the replies the 9600GT is on another laptop i was looking at which is about £80 cheaper on a 15 inch by PC Specialist . the res is 1440 x 900 so not as good as the 1710 but i was trying justify spending the extra £80-00. Now you say the cards are not really that different ill stick with the 9600 as its the newer card and the laptop is £80 pounds cheaper, thanks!
-
I have the 9600m GT as good as 7900 GTX which not sure that is what DeLL is offering anyway.
-
What effect would either of these two comparisons (cpu, gpu) have on performance?
Benchmarks to support what you say is complementary.
2.26ghz 3mb cache is $180 less than 2.53ghz 6mb cache.
The 9800M GTS is $80 less than the 9800M GT.
Would the faster processor make much of a difference in-game?
Is the 9800M GT really worth an extra $80? (that is a lot of food, I'm in University, I'm poor, this next laptop will have to last 4 years
)
Now this graph says it doesn't (yes, it's from notebookcheck...
): does anyone dispute this? what evidence do you have to show/prove otherwise?
-
The 9800 series competes at each other, the 98000gtx doesn't blow out the 9800gts, but the 9800 series blows out the 9700. Compare the 9700gts to a 9800gts. It gets smoked pretty much, and the 9800gts is just one step above. Now, compare the 9800gts to the 9800gtx, not too much of a difference in most cases. All I can say is hard specs.
Check em out:
9700M GTS
* G94 core.
* 48 Stream Processors.
* 530 MHz core clock.
* 1325 MHz shader clock.
* 800 MHz memory clock.
* 256 bit memory interface.
* 51.2 GB/s memory bandwidth.
* 12.7 billion texels/s texture fill rate.
* 190.8 GigaFLOPS.
9800M GTS
* G94 core.
* 64 Stream Processors.
* 600 MHz core clock.
* 1500 MHz shader clock.
* 800 MHz memory clock.
* 256 bit memory interface.
* 51.2 GB/s memory bandwidth.
* 19.2 billion texels/s texture fill rate.
* 288 GigaFLOPS.
9800M GT
* G94 core.
* 96 Stream Processors.
* 500 MHz core clock.
* 1250 MHz shader clock.
* 800 MHz memory clock.
* 256 bit memory interface.
* 51.2 GB/s memory bandwidth.
* 24.0 billion texels/s texture fill rate.
* 360 GigaFLOPS.
9800M GTX
* G92 core.
* 112 Stream Processors.
* 500 MHz core clock.
* 1250 MHz shader clock.
* 800 MHz memory clock.
* 256 bit memory interface.
* 51.2 GB/s memory bandwidth.
* 28.0 billion texels/s texture fill rate.
* 420 GigaFLOPS.
Info from Wikipedia, but it looks legit and matches up to the pathetic specs on Nvidia's site, where it just has G/flops and stream processors.
Overall, the GT for an extra $80 will buy you maybe 2-4 more FPS, 4 max.
But if you get the 2.53ghz CPU, get the 9800GT so they match up better.
Otherwise get the 2.26ghz CPU and 9800gts. ------ Looking at the Gateway P 7811?
I have a Toshiba x305 as in my sig and the Gateway smoked it in unreal tournament 3.
http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-qosmio-x305-q701/4505-3121_7-33088931.html?tag=mncol;lst
Go to that website, read the review and check the benchmarks. -
I would go for the 2.26GHz processor and the 9800M GTS.
The processor doesnt have to work as much as the GPU and for $180 it best to go for the 2.26GHz, (Is that the P8400 by any chance, coz thats the one I have and it works very nicely.)
Going from what the graph says, it unjustifiable to go for the 9800M GT, but real life tests would tell you for sure. -
Unless gateway releases a 15.4" gaming machine, the m860tu
Thanks
Yeah P8400, ok thanks
-
CPU usage depends alot upon the games - Multi-threaded or not ?.
Plus games like Crysis, Quake 4, Supreme Commander do hammer the CPU alot.
A faster CPU frequency will give you better fps, esp if the game is multi-threaded. CPU Cache, that depends upon the games coding --> Does Cache Size Really Boost Performance?
$180 is a good upgrade price, if the 6MB L2 CPU is the P9500.
If T9400, then the upgrade price is high.
Go for the best GPU config, as you are actually going to use that notebook for the next 4 years. CPUs are available cheap on ebay, etc and are definitely upgradeable. -
at that res it will be much easier for your laptops GPU to render, so you will get better frames. I would go higher on a card like that anyways.
-
always go for the most powerful GPU and forget about the CPU, you can usually upgrade later if you needed to.
-
why was this thread moved to hardware then moved back?
-
and how far into the future until the next good video card is released?
also as a possible 2 part question,
on the current good video cards
is it possible for it to be placed in a notebook with a 14.1' inch screen and under 7lbs? -
9800m gtx (x2)
6 months.. maybe
no -
the 8600GT on the desktop, what is that = to on the notebook
i know i they have an 8600 GM version but is that exactly = to the 8600gt's performance? -
here is the order
Nvidia
1. 9800M GTX
2. 9800M GT
3. 9800M GTS
the 9600M GT is i belive replaceing the 8600GT
ATI
1. Mobility Radeon HD 3870
2. Mobility Radeon HD 3850
3. Mobility Radeon HD 2600XT
now i dont know when the Mobility Radeon HD 4850 comes out in Q3 i belive but word on the street is it will be faster then the 9800M GTX
i dont belive you can put the 9800 series in 14'1 notebook's
i belive you can get the 9800's in the 15'4 notebooks -
8600 gt = 8700m
8500 gt = 8600m gt -
If you would read the stickies, you'd notice that it is basically impossible for you to upgrade a graphics card in a notebook.
-
i know some MSI/Asus and other notebook's you can upgrade the video card in. Some laptops use MXM II and MXM II Slots. Some have the builit in the motherboard
-
Sager NP8660 - 9800m in a 15.4"
I'm surprised this thread hasn't been merged with the Mobile graphics card info page thread yet. -
Which one is faster: Radeon 3470 256MB VRAM at 1600x900 or Radeon 3650 512MB VRAM at 1920x1080? Will the higher resolution slow down 3650 to the speed of 3470 at lower resolution? All others are equal. 2.8GHz C2D, 4GBRAM.
-
At those resolutions you're gonna be dissapointed because those cards won't be able to produce 30+fps in most new games.
-
how do the radeon 3450, 3470, and 3650 compare? from what i seem to be reading, the 3450 and 3470 are about the same. but let's just say if the laptop is 2.5 ghz c2d, 4 gb ram, 1440x900 resolution, how will these fare with a game like unreal tournament 3? crysis? i assume they would all do well with older games like the orange box?
also, are there any better radeons than the 3650 available now in laptops sized 15" and smaller?
just doing research in order to buy a new computer sometime within the next month. thanks for any help. -
What would the graphic look like if I change the resolution from 1920x1080 to 1024x768? Would it look noticeable ugly? I know LCD looks best at its native resolution but if I change the resolution that much, would it look ugly for games?
-
Which graphics card will perform better in games, and multimedia applications (DVD/Blu-ray and iTunes HD videos) - the 9300M GS or the HD 3470?
