Anybody here tried Blacklight Retribution?
-
I played it. Gave me serious motion sickness. That's about all I remember
Guess one can argue that it plays sort of like Call of Duty, except you have this trick where you can temporarily see through walls and such. Seems like cheating to me, but since everyone has the ability it's part of the game play. I dunno, if it hadn't been for the motion sickness I probably would have stopped playing because of the "see through walls" thing. -
I'm well aware of what auto aim is. BF3 on the PC doesn't have it. Unless you're talking about single player, in which case a) it can be turned off, and b) who cares about how other people play single player? The saddest thing about the self proclaimed hardcores is how obsessed they are with things that don't affect their game play experience in the slightest way.
-
At this point I'm convinced you haven't actually played BF3. You cannot turn on auto aim or aim assist or whatever in multiplayer. It's one thing to dislike a game, but another entirely to cite things that are factually inaccurate as your basis for disliking it.
-
I am sure you say that to everyone who disagrees with you.
Is it really more likely that I have never played a game like BF3 or that because I have been playing FPS games since the original Wolfenstein and Doom1 that I am simply familiar with such games, their mechanics and tweaking them to a greater degree than you are?
Are you really doubting that auto-aim exists in the console version? Is it too much for you to comprehend that the PC version and console version are not that much different? Since you admitted the code is in place for the single player, do you REALLY believe it is absolutely impossible to turn it on in multiplayer? Really?
Should I refrain from talking about Santa and the Easter bunny in fear of revealing something you aren't ready for yet? -
Only when it's true.
Never said you didn't play a game like BF3, I just said I don't think you HAVE played BF3. It's also a bold assumption that I haven't also been playing FPS games since the original Wolfenstein and Doom, and it happens to be inaccurate and also irrelevant.
No, and I never said that it didn't.
Again, I never said that they were hugely different. That doesn't mean that they are exactly the same, either.
Yes, I really do believe it is impossible to enable auto aim without use of a hack or cheat or aimbot program, just like every other shooter in existence for the PC. If you can offer me proof that auto aim can be turned on for multiplayer without use of some kind of external utility or other hack, then please do so.
Ad hominem attacks are cute. -
Bought it day 1 and played it for a while. Never played the SP. Sorry disagree with you, BF3 was a total waste of money. Every single cent wasted, they obviously don't give 1 single cent that the game is broken and the net coding is terrible.
-
Please provide an example of good MP netcoding.
-
Don't hate me for saying this but Medal of Honor: Warfighter had pretty decent netcoding.
Got around 17 hours clocked into the game (campaign was short but decent) and most of it was online play but the reason i dont have more hours is lack of friends playing the same game.
Its lonely playing a game all by myself even though it has ingame server browser and VOIP. -
Crysis 2, because it bored me so much i stop playing 30% in.
Witcher 2, because it never worked!
A -
Did you not make an effort to get Witcher 2 to work?
-
Skyrim was a complete disappointment. I've put 226 hours into that game and hated every minute. I'm about to throw away another 30-50 hours with Dragonborn. Utter garbage..
-
Lol. I hear ya hfm. I've put in close to 400 hours into Skyrim and Dragonborn. Hated every minute if it. ;^)

Alpha Protocol, here: wanted to like the game, got into the silly first hacking minigame, got frustrated, deleted. Tried again later, deleted.
Assassin's Creed 1+2 bundle in Steam: I don't know what I was thinking, I really don't like those at all.
Dishonored: looks amazing, plays really well, I lost interest right after the first mission, and that's all she wrote.
Mass Effect 3: These guys took one of the best games I ever played (ME2) and turned it into a whiny soap opera with a scripted ending. Lucky for me, I decided on skipping the slimy 1st day DLC, and good thing I did, too.
Shogun 2: Liked Empire, didn't like this bloated whale of a game. Will wait on Rome 2's review from honest gamers.
Paying for a game and not playing it is not the worst thing, though, there are games I bought that actually caused me more harm than good, like The Witcher 2, for example - I'm a hardcore RPG lover since their golden age back in the 80's, 'oldschool' fans kept praising it, said it was the next best thing and then some, I started playing...and died. And then died. And died some more. Then was told to play it with a XBOX360 controller, so I did that and then learned to roll and parry, slash and set up traps, finally made progress and then reached the Kayran which I couldn't pass until I followed the script to the letter by watching Youtube hints (climbing up the fallen tree) and then reached Letho and found out I need to roll for 15 minutes and avoid getting hit more than once or twice. So much fun... I got sick of it, used a trainer and rushed through the whole game just to see what the hype was all about, and I can honestly sum it up as 'Meh', nothing we haven't seen before. -

I'd be bored with TW2 also if I used a trainer to rush through the game. Not sure what you mean by "nothing we haven't seen before," because it's one of the most unique games I've ever played. There's nothing else on the market like it.
I enjoy challenging games more than simple/easy ones though. TW2 is one of my favorite RPGs (behind Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.) -
If you like Co-Op, ME3 is one of the best games. It's a ton of fun and BioWare has been supporting it phenomenally. They do balance updates nearly every two weeks and constantly patching and fixing. They also have lots of MP DLCs and all of them are free. In fact they are coming out with a huge MP DLC soon, very excited for it. I think I have over 200 hours played in ME3 co-op MP. I have not played the SP yet.
-
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
Seriously? I remember you saying you liked the mp, I thought everyone bought ME games for the single player. You should play it, but stop before you get to the ending lol. It's a train wreck.
-
Every COD game after the original modern warfare. nuff said.
Yeah Crysis 2 was lame compared to the first one. I will not be buying Crysis 3, I'll get GTA 5 instead
-
TW2 really isn't that hard at all. Instead of using a trainer, why not use Easy difficulty? If you had that much difficulty on Easy then...yikes.
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 over the last year...
-
For me, the MP alone is worth $60, I definitely got my moneys worth. And I plan on finishing the weekend challenge tonight! And psyched for the upcoming FREE DLC! New maps, characters, guns and game modes
-
Yeah LOL.
TBH the base game wasnt THAAT good but the bloody mods just ate up my time. Some absolute brilliant mods out there. -
Exactly the reasoning which made me buy the game.
Look, I'm a working family man (not that I'm insinuating that you aren't, mind you), with enough challenge as it is in life, and really find nothing fun in a challenge that isn't cerebral such as a good turn based game, but more in the form of avoiding getting hit, charging in, and rolling all over the place, then repeat ad nauseum. If you like it, great, but to each his own.
And regarding the plot - I didn't find it that intriguing. The standard political drab and backstabbing I've seen miles ahead. I actually preferred the first game's plot to this one. I have 2 good things to say about out-of-game mechanics:
1. A wrong choice of words will kill you, plain and simple. Which can be problematic, as it can force you to repeat tough battles all over again.
2. Choices actually change the gameplay and quests somewhat, which is very refreshing.
All the other aspects are just not my cup of tea. Worse - they made me want to really like the game, but I ended up loathing it, instead.
Yeah, yikes. The problem wasn't the difficulty, though, not quite. It just wasn't....fun. At least for me. Playing on easy didn't seem to improve the gameplay, which was the main issue for me. I'll stick to my Elder Scrolls
-
I should preface this remark I have about the Witcher vs Dragon Age with the fact that I have much love for the Witcher series since the first one was released back in Oct 2007 (if I remember correctly). It actually inspired me to read the books by Sapkowski. But I don't quite get why DA:O was panned and the Witcher held high due to " how to do a mature game" having almost finished the Cousland play through I find the DA:O story to have quite a lot of intrigue and choice. Aside from pure nudity in TW, which shouldn't define this argument as it doesn't matter that much who cares, there's plenty of great themes in both games. DA:O has been getting a bad rap if you ask me. Now let's not talk about DA2, I haven't played that and apparently it's not as good (I'll discover my own opinions on that soon). Hopefully DA3 will fix it if so.
-
Witcher 2 isn't remotely comparable to any of the Elder Scrolls game. If you were looking for an Elder Scrolls-esque experience, then yeah, it's definitely not your cup of tea.
-
Where was DA:O panned? The PC version has a 91 on Metacritic and the console versions are high 80s...
-
Agreed. DA:O is considered the best old style RPG in a long time. I would say, DA:O is the best party based RPG game I've played. DA2 on the other hand, an absolute travesty, just very bad. Hopefully DA3 will be better.
-
I just remember seeing many people commenting how bioware should look at the Witcher for some inspiration on how to do a mature themed RPG. I don't see it I thought DA:O was a great story with plenty of political and cultural intrigue, relationships and personal strife.
I finally finished it today. Great ending. I have to go chase down morrigan and get my kid.
-
Off the top of my head that I've actually purchased somewhat recently, I'd have to say the Duke Nukem remake was just terrible. Red Faction: Armageddon was also a huge letdown, they took literally everything that made Guerrilla fun and removed it from the game, what in the heck were they thinking!? Then there's Payday the heist, I actually had really high hopes for this game, and the concept is still not too bad, but the game mechanics, and the constant waiting while defending against endless hordes just gets boring fast. And despite some things being randomized, missions really have no replay value at all.
-
Well, the knock against pretty much all Bioware RPGs is that the romantic subplots are a bit cheesy/forced/annoying. But I definitely wouldn't say that DA:O was poorly received. DA2 was, but that's because it's a terrible game.
-
Dragon Age 2. Wasn't THAT bad a game (the voice acting and some of the side plots were stellar), but was an obvious half-assed, rushed attempt for EA to cash in on DA:O. Steered me away from all EA games for a quite a while.
Mass Effect 2 and 3. A departure from the engaging and original RPG of the original, the sequals were Michael Bay'ed to the umpteenth level. I physically retched when I saw the "end boss" in ME2. The soundtracks also took a bombastic nose dive after the first game. -
Not a game I bought, but starcraft ghost. Because it never came out

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but anyone ever try Counter-Strike: Condition Zero? I was so hyped up for it. I watched it get cancelled and the project get switched to different companies. After many years of it being overdue, it turned out to be mostly CS with bots. There were also the Deleted Scenes, but those were pretty disappointing too and very linear. Though the upsides of it was that having CZ let you get into the CS:Source beta which was one of the most amazing gaming experiences I ever witnessed (First time seeing real physics)
I will also admit that the online gameplay was pretty fun. The hostages had AI which i wish they implemented in source or GO. For example, if hostages were left unattended, they might run away. If a T was near them, tehy would whimper and cry . -
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising....sucked big time.
-
Oh dear god I remember this game... wow what a waste of time -.-
-
guild war 2.
first MMO that interested me, I always thought MMORPGs are just way too time consuming and I have starcraft 2 to watch/play etc.
But wow, MMO really isn't my type of game. I can play visual novel games, almost all other genres even sport games that I don't play the sport. But MMOs are really boring imo. -
Well, I actually like MMOs and I found GW2 to be boring.
-
Somebody who bought Aliens Colonial Marines should also mention it here in this topic...
-
EDIT deleted due to wrong information
-
Not sure if serious... BF3 does have client-side hit detection...
-
Yeah, I think he's confused. It's opposite. Client side is awful.
-
Sim City. I couldn't figure out how to get the damn electrical system set up. Ironically, I'm training to become a licensed electrician. Lol.

I just tried my Steam Air Conflicts - Secret Wars & Pacific Carriers and these games stink... Really, a flight sim that doesn't use a joystick? - It's keyboard, mouse, gamepad, or Xbox 360 controller use only. What a waste of money!
-
Remember when people would use the masskill cheat?
-
Awww, Half Life 2 is one of my all time favourites!!
-
Yeah. Funny to watch on YouBoob, infuriating to be there in-game when it happens.
-
Aliens Colonial Marines...yeah...

How could I forget the most disappointing game in my entire gaming life - Mass Effect 3. I will never get those years of playing the series back, it's a shame too because I should have seen this coming with how bad DA2 was
-
The ending was really disappointing (obviously) but I thought that the 99% of the game before that was pretty sweet.
-
For me it was NotebookReview: The Game
Video Games You Bought, That Were a Big Disappointment.
