To each his own, but I have to disagree, here. The game itself was shallow, had disappointing carrots at the end of almost every stick (I fought so hard to get the Rachni on board from the second game, being all insectoid death machines, and all I get is a text message that they...help with the research?!), cliche to a point of queasiness (machines have feelings, too! Sometimes more than people! ) and it just seems that the company failed to understand that nobody plays these games due to its amazing combat.
And the drama, so much drama, it looks like the only Bioware employees left in that company are a bunch of sappy, middle-aged women. I used to play the first and second game from time to time all over again, but after the third I can't even look at this series anymore.
And yeah, despite leaving most of the RPG elements behind, I felt the second game was very cinematic and engaging and that's why I liked it and its grim plot, but it looks like it went straight to the devs' heads, and you could also see it in Dragon Age 2 plot as well:
the homosexual guy exploding everything up and then having a whiny guilt trip about it was way too much new-agey nonsense to be acceptable, sorry
Anyway, exactly like I said in my previous rant a few pages ago, Bioware should get a grip, and fast.

Almost anything that blizzard releases lately disappoints me and then some. I was along with everyone else excited when they announced Diablo 3 and like most of the rest of the people that played it generally disappointed. I played through the story and cleared the next difficulty before quickly realizing that the replay value wasn't there and that I wasn't a fan at all. I was also one of the hard core WoW lovers but IMO they have driven that into the ground over the last 2 expansions and I have recently cancelled that as well. I was not a fan of SC2 when it came out but as time goes on I find myself playing more and more online multi player. I am still not a fan of the fact that they are releasing the game in 3 segments and I still think it is a cash grab......
Blizzard in my eyes has fallen the furthest and I blame Activision.
To be honest I am not a fan of BF3 either and can't even bring myself to play it anymore.

Fable 2 for me -.-

Fable 2 is not even on Steam but Fable 3 is my second most played game - 49 hrs. Great fighting action better than AC 1, 2, and Brotherhood.
-
That would be because Fable 2 was console exclusive I believe. Also 49 hrs is your most played? That's not a lot. IMO that should be about par for any good game. I already have 42 hours in Black Ops 2 and I don't think it's a good game still. Entertaining none the less.
-
I tried to play both Batman Arkham Asylum and City, but can't get into either. I know, how horrible of me >< I want to give it another shot one day. They felt like long tutorials where everything felt stiff, restricted, and directed...
-
I played arkhan asylum for a bit but the fights seems to repetative....mash buttons for the same combos over and over..maybe I just didn't get far enough in.
-
you're BATMAN.
Greatest Hero ever. What could be better?
Honestly, thinking back, I was just surprised they made a decent fighting batman game -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
It's because it was never released for the PC. -
How would you have ended it better? I do agree it the ending was now the best, but I can't think of a way I'd make it better. The series was just too good for its own good I guess
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2 -
Bah, sorry for hijacking the thread yet again, but the Deus Ex Machina in the form of the AI child that was never referred to in the entire series was just lazy, ridiculous writing. The lack of meaning to anything you've done before sure didn't help, nor the melodrama-galore and the convulsion of the plot in any way possible to try to turn Shepard into a tragic hero without even referring any of the 3 options earlier or even mentioning any integration between flesh and machines throughout the game.
How would I end it better? I would start by not insulting the avid fans by forcing them to jump through hoops in order to increase the arbitrary score without it having any meaning. I would then proceed in allowing Shepard the option to kick robotic behinds and retiring in peace and not force my players to conform only to my way of thinking and my opinion on how it should all end.
I would also give the machines better motive than to kill organics to protect them from annihilating themselves with machines, by annihilating them with machines. Something easy, such as...ummm...I dunno...they believe they are superior to organics in every way and want machines to rule? Now, really, was that too hard?
And let's assume I would want it all to end with this sickening melodrama, I would instead change the ending to prove the futility of it all, turning it to something like Saving Private Ryan or a similar war film ending where the hero dies, instead of cheapening the entire experience with everything I just mentioned above.
Edit: oh, and I how could forget the cute little zero day DLC that adds a frickin' Prothean to the team, which does absolutely nothing to improve the plot or the gameplay other than provide exposition which could, and should, have been in this game to begin with, of course. It just doesn't get any lower than that when it comes to selling out and insulting fans, really. -

Euro Truck Sim 2 is my most played game with 130 hrs and counting... I'm still into playing it, and I own 70 trucks and make a lot of money, like 330,000 euros a day! -
I got about 4 days invested in MW3 on the Xbox 360. Next highest would be any of the Ace Combat games I own, averaging somewhere around 30-60 hours each (not bad for a single-player game
).
-
At least now I know why I found this game so disappointing...it wasn't developed for pc.
Oh, and they decided to put in SINGLEPLAYER, something they decided us PC gamers didnt want. Blizzard is never getting another dime of my money.

BF3 for xbox 360. To much game installing and updates. Mp unbalance. Lvl 1 vs lvl 80's. It's a grind just to do anything. and worse is the spray and pray. and no bullet dropping can snipe someone from across the map.
-
Ah lol, so diablo 3 will be offline for ps, but not for PC? lol
I remember in early days it used to lag tremendously at times.. in a singleplayer game.
Hopefully blizz patch out the need to be online constantly.
Yeah its a load of crap what they pulled with diablo. -
I was really excited for Guild wars 2. Pre-ordered, kept up with the news for months, etc. When the game finally came out, I only played for about a month. It just didn't suck me in like some other MMOs. Diablo 3 was a major dissapointment for me, as well.

You have to give us more details about why this is a bad game. From the Get Games page it seems like the game has great graphics... Are the controls bad? AI bad? The Alien char models look highly detailed and well modelled.

It's common knowlege at this point that this game is a train wreck. It's an unfinished mess; the graphics are terrible, the story is ridiculous, the AI is broken, the gameplay is trite and boring. -
That's why I'm also gonna buy it. Of course just for a cheaper price and to bash it afterwards.
-
lemme start with the most dire of a million problems plaguing this game..
1) dated graphics, so dated, I would want to say the explosion effects of Half-Life 2 (YES) is about 10 times better, there is nothing good with the graphics that can be said. But the explosions and the fire, oh dear god..
2) xenos are just crazy runners, they charge you straight and can be killed with 2-3 bullets. you can bash a full blown xeno warrior with ease, you can just keep bashing so that the alien won't be able to attack you (kidding kinda AI)
3) i have never seen this many xenos getting slaughtered in anything
4) you fight weyland contractors half the game (again no kidding)
5) check out this video What the hell happened to Aliens Colonial Marines FIXED - YouTube
6) the stupidest emotions ever in gaming history "hey what do you have on the exploding chest issue?" are you kidding me?
7) 1, again, the worst graphics, witcher ONE has better graphics imho
8) 0 immersion
9) stupidest storyline ever, what the hell they were thinking???
anyway, this is enough, stay the hell away from this thing.

You're insane. Seriously. >_> Not sure why you think HL2 sucks, but okay.
Also, SC2 was pretty bad. Command and Conquer all the way!

I have to add that GTA IV is a very stupid game. If most of it involves driving then it stinks BIG TIME to drive around only using the keyboard. And then the game doesn't have quick saves or to save at any point. My game save from over a year ago was erased; the game updated and reinstalled and didn't take my previous game. It's not worth playing when every time you play you have to play long enough to the next save point, and I'm not sure how often / how to save in this game.
-
I can't really remember the last time I've been disappointed in a game. Usually I find something, anything to like about it, and I don't really get disappointed easily. So, I don't really have anything to add to this discussion, lol.
-
l.a. noire was like assassin's creed redundant/boring to me. bastion was mildly disappointing. i raced through all the levels without doing any of the proving grounds and now i'm sort of plateaued. i should just beat it and restart in the plus mode. i was pretty excited about CS:GO and it was--well, CS (still a good game no less). bit.trip runner is a cool game and i pre-ordered the second, but the other bit.trip titles are meh. i expect a music game to have good music, even if it's chiptune. alice: madness returns ended up being a let-down. and i should have known that ace of spades would go unplayed after a half-hour.

Hey Long! sup dude, wanna sue steam for putting this on preorder...

Battlefield Bad Company 2. I don't know why, but I've never been able to connect to a multiplayer game. At first it wouldn't load the game browser, now that's fixed, but it still won't connect. It appears to be patched and I looked into the ports and opened the ones that were supposedly needed, but no cigar. So, I don't know what's up. But I gave up trying months ago, was only a $5 purchase and not worth the effort when I could fall back on older games that worked without the hassle. Too bad though, 1942 was a lot of fun and BFBC2 was supposed to be good, too.
Probably would've been good if it had worked, but that is a prerequisite... -

Not only will Diablo 3 on Ps3 and 4 allow for FULL offline play but SPLITSCREEN play as well.
Haha, I remember Blizz coming out and saying that Online only was required because otherwise the game wouldn't run correctly! Such a load of crap. Incredible Blizzard would stoop to such a level. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Who still plays Diablo 3? lol
Monday Night Combat was fun, but hardly anyone played it... -
Coop gear grab games such as diablo 3 and borderlands 2 always lose their appeal when the its less about the game and more about the gear. Buy em on sale play em once and call it a day.

The last commander & conquer...what a waste of money

What? I got excellent value for money.
PS
I paid $2.50

maybe then they will release a patch for PC that allows the same thing, and I will finally touch the game.

Ace Combat assault horizon is a pretty bad game comparing it to the older ones...
Plus the close up FOV is terribad -
100% agreed. Let's not forget DFM too...
-
InspiredE1705 Notebook Evangelist
Does Ace Combat assault horizon use good joystick support? Or what are its controls?
-
I have the joysticks provided with the Ace Combat 6 special edition package and they work just fine in Assault Horizon. Not sure what those sticks are based off of, but they feel pretty good when playing. I also play using the regular Xbox 360 controller and that works great for when I don't have the room to have a proper joystick setup.
Note that Assault Horizons is apparently on the PC now, so you could use whatever PC joysticks you may happen to have if you (for some reason) decide to buy that game. But as a person who's been in love with Ace Combat previously (I own 04, 5, Zero, X, 6, and Assault Horizons), Bandai/Namco basically sold us "purists" out in order to attract a wider audience of gamers that don't have any air-to-air wits whatsoever. Dogfight Mode is basically auto-aim for idiots... I have no idea why "flying behind an enemy aircraft to shoot it down" was so underrated in Assault Horizons other than for attracting bad players to buy their product.
If you ask me, Ace Combat should have ***never*** been set in the real world in any of the games (Assault Horizon is the second one to do this, after the not-successful Join Assault for the PSP). Strangereal or bust, guys! I'm serious... I love Ace Combat more for the imaginary world, its history, its nations, and its style, rather than the real world. I can surely get into the story about Ulysses 1994 XF-04, the supereweapons found in the Strangereal universe, the odd ability to carry out massive wars found in Strangereal, all of that. But I'm not going to buy into the story that Assault Horizon presents; Assault Horizons tries to bring the unreal-yet-real quality of Strangereal into actual Earth and to use said quality to set up outlandish situations found in that game, and it just sreams "FAKE!! THIS IS A HORRIBLE STORY!!!!!" to me, every-single-time-I've-played-it!
So basically, I'm sick of Ace Combat now, especially if Bandai/Namco keep going in this direction. Ace Combat 6 was the last good Ace Combat game made, and that was released back in 2007. I was hoping that they would release an "Ace Combat 7" and keep going with the great storyline that they have produced so far, but they seem that they'd rather opt to toss out all the hard work of Project Aces in order to gain the "idiot audience", as I'd like to call them. NBR user Mobius 1 is pretty much as frustrated about Ace Combat as I am, if you'd like to ask him about the game. -
I did like joint assault though with its 4 player co op was great fun. It made great utilization of the psp's portable capabilities.
But yea Assault Horizion was crap. It gives me shame to see the series after it took off from the PS1. I noticed some parts where you were forced to use DFM. Even if you landed a clean shot at the enemy theyd just use flares. ! -
Eh, I can't say the same about Joint Assault. Yes, it had interesting features, but for me, Ace Combat is 90% all about the story, 10% mechanics. Without the story, Ace Combat is no better than Call of Duty imo (having played both). Strangereal was a great universe/story. Assault Horizon reminds me of the terrorism fear-mongering that goes on in America. That's not good game material imo.
-
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
Same reason 24 got old after a couple seasons. Fear-mongering gets old fast. -
24 never got old... Jack Bauer just aged you 80 years.
I loved that show. It did lose a little bit of the shock factor, but the intensity alone along with the real time synchronization was pretty incredible. Best way to watch 24 is skip the season and then watch it in its entirety on DVD. It's phenomenal how well strung together everything is. One of those shows that won't do well in syndication though. Hard to just watch one episode of 24 and have any freaking clue what's going on. I'm surprised there haven't been lots of "24" marathon runs on TV. I have yet to find a show that comes even close to that level of intensity, ridiculousness, and timeline accuracy.
If nobody's seen that show, you're in for a treat. Just buy or rent each season in succession and I guarantee you'll go on a marathon 24 viewing over the course of a weekend. That's how we got hooked. We missed the first few seasons and bough them on DVD, and bought the first season, and over the course of a weekend watched the whole thing, lol. Same thing with Season 2 and 3 and started watching regularly with season 4. -
Space Marine was a huge let down to me, they could have done quite a bit more with it. It was too much like the Ultramarines movie, repetitious and nonsensical. They got the movement of the Marines right and then made close combat a spaz fest. Though towards the end of the game I ended up hugging walls, no cover system, trying to snipe since close combat was a death sentence.
-
I always thought the story of the Ace Combat games was fairly cheesy, really the main reason why I never got into them.
-
I feel the opposite. Yes, the traditional AC story line is far-fetched, true. However, this is a made-up world with made-up dynamics and whatnot, so it's a lot easier to believe when you're playing the game (same reason why we don't see how weird Halo is, or Banjo Kazooie, etc.). However, since Assault Horizon is set in real Earth, you can't "escape from reality" as you can with a fake world. And, as mentioned earlier, I think that the AH story is cheesy itself. Seriously, Russian terrorists blowing up small nukes everywhere? Please....
