andygb40, does your card still downclock with this driver and johnkss' inf? If i recall correctly, one of the games in which downclocking happens for you is in AoC? I am getting downclock issues with AoC and no manner of driver (from lv2g) I use makes any difference.

Basically I can get the same performance at a smaller overclock and lower temperatures than I was getting with 174.16, 174.74, and 175.80.

I had a clear speed up in PES2008 and in flatout2 !
way better than 177.35 for both games (winxp 32)
andygb40: I have a zepto 6224. If you use RMClock for power management, make sure you are in Maximal Performance profile, I found that Performance on Demand causes stuttering
thx for the thread -
Just installed the driver with the modded inf and my temperature went up 10 degree C. With the old driver i get 50 degree when idling and 70 degree max while gaming. Im going to try again when laptopvideo2go release their inf.

What about performance? What drivers did you use before getting this high temp? Are you sure about what you're saying? Because on my 8700 stock I have the same 70-75 in intense gaming but a noticeably fps improvement. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Nvidia just posted the official 177.39. I hear the drivers that officiially support physx for the 8/9 series will be out in july.
-
now that's what im talking about!! woohoo! sure hope they make it with an on/off switch though. just in case other programs dont like to be forced in one direction... so to speak. -
I found after installing these drivers there is no longer a 1280x800 option under options in Bioshock. =/ Closest I can get is 1280x720. Anyone else have this problem?
Dont mean to hijack the thread but...
I'm also noticing that after about 5 minutes of gameplay it starts getting a little laggy, I think the g1s peeps call this 'stutter'...maybe my gpu is being downclocked? Is there anyway to eliminate this? I'm only reaching about 88-90C. -
i still have 1280x800
-
...maybe ill roll back to 174.74. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Just have to add a custom resolution.
Which inf are you using? vista 32?
Also for the stuttering. Use rivatuner or similar gpu monitoring program to see if your gpu is downclocking itself. -
BenLeonheart walk in see this wat do?
Well, its official, definately 175.19 rock my boxers.
I get an average of 2-3 FPS boost in Oblivion.. (Ultra high 1280x800, all high, even tree fade, int and ext shadows..)
I get an average 10 C less temperature with these
(Usually my gaming sessions go up to 95 C, now they stay on 79-80-85)
I had these benchmarks o 3DM06,
(basic)
525/752 with 177.35 -> 5010
525/752 with 175.19 -> 5019
lolz
cheers @ everyone.

How do you convert a .doc to .inf? -
you don't, all you have to do is to rename it.

check out this guys boost in speed... not sure what to make of it.... cpu jumped to the outer limits, while gpu stay pretty close to where it was before....

thanks johnkss for the inf a few pages back it worked great
-
-
While i wish this were true but it is notHave tried this amongst many other "fixes" and no luck with the down clocking.
Of course i posted this reply without reading beyond that page, heh. Actually it was fine last night but today it down clockedI will give your inf a shot johnksss and see it that fixes the dc issue.
If this does work Johnksss could i also get a modded inf for an 8400m GS ? You guys do good work, (Forerunner & Johnksss) keep it up. -

8600 stuttering issue maybe? Though I have no idea because i've never experienced that. Did your card skip before/
also 1280 x 800 works now? -
Hi, I've been reading this forum for some time(and that basically is all I've been doing
), but I decided to sign in and write something here because apparently there is someone else who's having the same problem as me.
One thing I also noticed is that stuttering seems to get worse when SLI is enabled. Something similar happens in other drivers I fiddled with, but the 175.19 I downloaded seems to be struggling even more.
I might also add that the recent drivers by Nvidia disables powermizer when SLI is on. I watched how clocks changed with Rivatuner, but absolutely no change occurs and the clocks stay at the "performance" level the whole time. When I disable SLI, powermizer does work like it's supposed to... Such a shame
Well, I just wanted to introduce my case to contribute somewhat. Maybe someone else is having a similar problem? -
does this happen with all your games? if so, can you pick one that will run in windows mode. make the window small enough for you to run cpuz and gpuz on the side. watch to see if one or both drop in speed. -
-
http://www.cpuid.com/
get cpuz and hwmonitor from there.
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
get gpuz from here.
these are small fast loading programs and seem to be on point with voltage/temps/speeds -

Thanks for your guide johnksss, I just ran Bioshock for about 20 minutes until it started stuttering. No sign of downclock for either cpu or gpu, both my gpus were at full throttle.
One thing I noticed, though, is that the game started stuttering just about when one of the gpus reached 90 degree celsius. I once suspected the excess heat to be the cause of it all, now I'm more inclined to believe that it actually is.
Time to clean the vents, perhaps?
Oh, a note for plattnnum: I wasn't able to select 1280 x 800 either. Strange, because the driver offers this resolution, and yet I can't select it in Bioshock...
Let me also add that the option came back once I added a custom resolution, and that I experienced the worst stuttering ever with this resolution -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Stuttering from heat is possible. Cleaning the vent's coudlnt hurt.
Did you try my modded one for 1280 x 800 ? One page back. Try that one. -
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
I added custom res for it. Weird that inf worked for mass effect when I didnt have 1280 x 800.
-
did you also try the one i posted as well?
-
-
I'm running Vista 32 bit.
Will this cover me?
http://www.say-it-loud.com/nv_disp_17519.inf -
it should do for you.
-
does this driver perform better than 177.35? I think its a bit slower. Anyone else with this observation?
-
-
what are your global setting at now andy?
-
Wow right on! Glad to hear from another owner of the x205 sli1.
Well I don't understand what yall mean by stuttering. is it like dropping below 24 frames per second? cause as far as I can tell on my x205 sli1 with fraps enabled I get a consistent 60 fps which ocasionally drops to 25 with smoke and like 20 guys fire fighting on screen with maxed out graphics settings in COD4. To me it's awesome having two gpus backing each other up.
So far I'm still sticking to these drivers because of the score I got on 3dmark6 and because it fixed my other strategy game with the corrupted graphics if set to max shaders. I can't really tell if it makes my first person shooters smoother cause all of them run at high frames per second at max settings even with the 174.31 drivers, but as far as it downclocking I don't think I notice that at all. I play 3 to 5 hours straight and no slow downs. Anyway what is powermizer and how can I access it to see what all the fuss is about. -
All in all I noticed a good improvement in these compared to the 174's I was using before, but they seem to be slightly slower than 177's as I mentioned. But I can live with that as the visual's are better. By slightly slower I mean 2-3fps across the board, so nothing drastic. Just to think I was going to give up on new drivers until you solved my issues. It seems that because you used the "%NVIDIA_G84.DEV_0407.1% = nv_G8x," in the inf it works whereas Forerunner used the "%NVIDIA_G84.DEV_0407.1% = mobile_nv_NV3x,". All of lv2go's infs also use Forerunners settings in their inf's.
