I'll definitely give that one a try.

Yup, never to recover the good frame rates. In the worst case the game becomes very "unsmooth", giving me a choppy frame rate one second then recovering the next second, and then repeating this sequence. Could it be that one of the gpus is overheated but the other one is not?

I must say I'm not an expert myself, but iirc powermizer is the NVidia card feature that lets gpu downclock when there's not much need for graphic processing e.g. surfing, using non-3D applications. Simply put, it helps you save the electricity and keep your gpus cool. Afaik Vista doesn't offer powermizer control, so the only way you can enable/disable it is editting your registry.
Luckily, I'm not experiencing downclocking while gaming with or without SLI enabled, At the same time though, as I stated before, my gpus don't downclock at all with SLI on, which causes another problem :p

edit: was looking at the wrong inf file earlier.

yep, pretty much so. two lines was all it took. just went back to the basics. now go in and fine tune your system using those 18 settings under manage 3d settings and you can easily get those 2 to 3 frames back and more.

I downloaded the file from Nvidia website. But, I can't seem to replace the inf. file. How would I go doing this because there no files I can open, it's just an application...

You need to run it. Its just an extractor which will extract all the information.

It's not extractor... It's an application. I downloaded from the nvidia website.

It is definitely an extractor. You double click the .exe file and it will extract the files for you and then run setup. It will not be able to install without the modded inf file anyways.

ok, installed the driver using an older inf. and got additional 9 frames in DMC4 demo benchmark compared to the previous driver, this one really has nice optimizations

EDIT: Holy sweet Mother! just tried Rainbow six Vegas 2, and the menu is 50% more responsive, and got additional 7 Frames... wow!

Actually johnksss is it possible to get a modded inf for a 8400m GS whenever you get a chance .... may have a chance to test my 1330 and 1530 tonight and/or over the weekend. I already downloaded your modded 8600m GT inf just need a 8400m GS for the 1330.

Thanks again John and Forerunner for the good work :)

Good news, I finally fixed the stuttering issue. I read a post from a another g1s owner who had the same problem. He said after a fresh re-boot put the computer on standby/hibernate, wake it up and game. It actually worked lol. :D

Anyways I'll be installed these drivers again tonight and hopefully I get 1280x800 mode to work...do I still have to add a custom resolution in the game setting file?

    Hello,

I am trying to update my video card to (175.19) After downloading the file from Nvidia's website:

    http://www.nvidia.com/content/Driver...glish_whql.exe

I can't extract it because it executable file. It keeps trying to install the damn driver to my computer and of course it won't work because I didn't replace it modded inf. file. Is anybody have this problem??

    I have xp media.

You have to run the executable to extract the files. Once the extraction is done it will attempt to install but fail for obvious reasons. Once you get the failure prompt replace the inf and you should be good to go.

I'll get one up for you. Vista 32 right? ALso welcome to the forums. :)

Yeah its an extractor. WHat happens is you click it and extract it to the folder. Then once its extracted the setup.exe laucnhes right away and it says no compatible hardware found or whatever. All you have to download the inf in the first post in the thread that you need. Replace the .doc in the end with .inf . Then you copy that inf and place it to the folder to where the files were extracted. It will ask you if youw ant to replace and you click yes. Then launch setup.exe and it should work.

I tried using the 175.16 inf file from laptopvideo2go... when driver installation was done, there was no NVidia Properties selection available, and the desktop was stuck at 800x600 resolution. Had to reload 175.16...

Yes its a 1330 and thanks forerunner. Is this the same inf that you initially had posted for the 1530 ? If so unfortunately that one down clocks on my 1530 :( I think johnksss modded it slightly different to include or not include some line that causes it to down clock. One of the forum members mentioned this

I just tried using the latest .inf file above, and it had the same results as the 175.16 inf from lv2g... the set-up file finishes running in under 2 sec, and when the system finishes rebooting, no actual nvidia video drivers are loaded, and my desktop is left in 800x600 resolution (native 1920x1200). If I try to force the 8800-gtx driver into place, the system displays only 1 video card, not 2, but same results as above otherwise. Really weird...

yes... I overwrote the original nv_disp.inf file with your posted version in the Nvidia 175.19 folder, ran set-up, and it finished too quickly to have actually done anything. I'm attempting to load 175.19 on my XPS M1730 but getting stopped cold. I did clean out all previous drivers via safe-mode + Driver Sweeper, so I'm not sure where there driver-load is breaking down in my system.

Hi there, thanks for all the help BTW :)

I actually tried this earlier as well. Only one video card is recognized by the system after running Driver Sweeper, and only in standard VGA mode. I can force the driver update on one 8800m-gtx, but from there, only 800x600 video is available, and no 2nd 8800m-gtx is detected by the system. There are no nvidia properties available on the desktop either, so I'm guessing that the driver is still not loading correctly.

I think I'll just stay with 175.16 for now until laptopvideo2go releases their version.

EDIT: One thing I haven't tried yet is forcing the 175.19 drivers into place without running Driver Sweeper first, since I lose SLI visibility immediately after doing so. Unfortunately I won't get a chance to try this until later.

While in game the game slowed down briefly.. similar to a lag spike. It clocked down to 169/100 (standard 2d mode), it was at about 81C temp wise.

yup, those are slightly better than the XG with Shader intensive stuff, just go tho your XG driver directory, and copy NV4_disp from it, and paste in the 175.19 driver folder, and then install and have fun!

Sorry but the XG 175.63 inf file does not work installing Nvidia 175.19 driver for me on XP 32 bit. I get a lot of missing files cannot copy errors that I canceled out of and continued install and then booted up but device manager still showed 175.63 driver installed after 175.19 installation had run with errors. Any help appreciated. Again, am trying to install to laptop listed in sig. Did the Driver Sweeper routine in safe mode before trying Nvidia install. Thanks.

Dont worry about the missing files Huntnyc, just skip them, this is caused by the Inf calling none existent files from older drivers, its completely normal, just skip em!

One more note. Is this just another side effect from using modded inf from XG or LV2Go with Nvidia 175.19 driver? I note in device manager still I see the version of driver related to the modded inf not 175.19 but 175.63 or 175.80 whichever modded inf I use. Is that normal for this procedure? Sure would like to see 17519 in the driver version box. Thanks again for all.
