Red dead redemption 2, playing on my new build [email protected] 1.392v and my RTX2080 Super FE@ 1,995/18,500.
I played RDR2 on my GTX1080 laptop too and it was tough to run at just 1080P. My laptop also had a 8086K in it.
Nice to be able to play this game maxed out 1080P with 60-80fps.

I need to get back to RDR2, i set it aside for some other things. I dunno, I just think about the amount of time I'm going to have to dedicate to it and it becomes intimidating just thinking about slogging through it. It looked and performed amazing though, definitely a treat graphically and art direction.JRE84 likes this.

I am supremely jealous of anyone that has not played this yet.. there's some games I wish I could MIB myself and play again, that's one of them.
After complaining about some of the Doom: Eternal game play elements like constant chainsawing, platforming elements and having to keep switching weapons and use all the tools I have to relent my opinion. After finishing the game.. I was like screw it I never did any of the secret encounters and slayer gates because they just seemed grindy, I just wanted to see the story and the levels.
I'm going back and replaying almost all the levels picking up all the items I didn't find the first time and doing all the challenges. Playing it again with all the upgrades in place is fun. And I've had more time to just marvel at the art direction and level design. I've also gotten a lot better at the platforming elements so I hardly ever miss any jumps any more.
Have to redo my thoughts on this and give them a 9.5/10. I was rather resistant to some of it the first time through as it seemed the game was fighting me because I wanted to play it a certain way and it wasn't really possible when they were jamming down your throat having to use pretty much everything they gave you all the time. I think it's more fun with full upgrades as you don't run out of ammo as often. Thinking about having to start over from scratch on a new play through sounds undesirable.
-
This same desire is messing up many of my first time playthroughs. Yes, Witcher 3 is one of them for me too. What I mean is when I find a game I like this much, I get really into it, I play only that one for a long time and when I'm getting close to the end, I stop playing it almost without realizing it. It can take me a very long time to resume playing. I'm sure I do this because I'm weak and I don't want to have the game just end
Witcher 3 - I stopped at about 80 hours in, Dishonored 2: stopped before the last mission, as unbelievable as this may sound, I still haven't finished Fallout 4 to this day. Sometimes I get in and mess about in Far Harbor but not for too long; Rage 2 - before the last mission, Ghost Recon: Wildlands - right before El Sueno and the list goes on.
I need help.
There are exceptions, the few games I get really into, then I usually don't even blink before getting through them completely (Deus Ex series for example, Alyx more recently) -
wow.. hah
I'd personally rather experience the end of them than not. How would I sit through the credits and see if there's any secret after credits videos otherwise.

ESO and recently started playing Gloria Victis! Avid (read: geeky) MMORPG PVP-centric player here!
I do prefer the latter tho since the combat is much more refined and skill-based. You can beat a max level player wearing max level equipment even tho you're 40 levels (max level = 100) behind with just basic equipment; gears and equips play a minor roll.
ESO's is a bit too reliant on gearsets which means no good gears = harder time facing well-geared players. Not to say that defeating them is impossible, just noticeably harder.
The only reason why I still play ESO occasionally is due to the fact that Gloria has very few players in the server I play in and only has the influx of players-in during prime time, lots of my vet friends have quit though. ESO has terrible stability too, the devs in Zenimax seem to create more game-breaking bugs (eg. skills/actions not firing off when prompted, takes a lot of clicks before it eventually fires) with every new patch introduced. It is in a very bad state.
Gloria Victis is a different animal altogether. It's in Alpha development and the Devs keep close feedbacks from players and formulate a testing solution, if not feasible, in patches.
So far so good. But given that it's in Alpha, bugs are also present but nothing game-breaking which is commendable coming from a small 16-man developer team.JRE84 likes this. -

I've played HL2 a lot of times, and each time during Ravenhold level I say to myself that I will beat it using only gravity gun...
...and then I get to the part with fast and poison zombies... Hello revolver (and later shotgun) my old friend... -
I know that a little while ago I said Warzone is not that good, too fast, too chaotic. Well, I decided to give it another shot a few days ago and I have to say I find myself having a lot of fun.
PUBG ruining their own game with bots and RoE with the stupid new map and lack of players kinda pushed me here.
So yeah, Warzone is fun. Much easier than the two other BR games mentioned. In almost every Warzone BR game I walk away with at least 5-6 kills and 10-15 in Plunder sessions. Focusing on something specific is also enjoyable: now I'm leveling up an AR to get all the good attachments and progression is quick and satisfying.
Another cool little feature, I love that they implemented the "open mic thing": when a player kills another, for about 1-2 seconds you can hear the killed players mic feed. I can say that in a few days I've learned a bunch of swear words in various languages

Finished A Plague Tale: Innocence. A great single player game with strong story, interesting characters, beautiful music, and, already mentioned, passable gameplay. Took me 15 hours to finish, so didn't overstay its welcome and had me really hooked. Mandatory stealth section sucked balls, and had a bug in last chapter which made me reload a level (luckily had to replay only 1/3 of the chapter).
Back to Metro Exodus...and some VR games on the side.hfm likes this. -
I had one of these too, not a spoiler... where the chandelier is supposed to fall on an armored dude. It fell but he didn't die as it was supposed to be in the script and progression was stuck. Only chapter reload fixed it.
In the mean time I'm sitting on my hands to stop me from buying Star Citizen. It's crazy how mad I am at them for what's essentially a scam they're running, but after playing for a bit during the free week, I can't stop thinking about it. They're messing with my mind.

That's why they had that free week and how they've gotten this far and funded this much. The promise of what it could be is nothing short of amazing.
I just have zero confidence that they will realize that vision properly. I have funded Elite Dangerous to get the lifetime expansion pass and I also bought No Man's Sky.
Both of those games are fun for me for a short period of time then I get bored. I'm more partial to Elite since I can solo mode that and treat it like a zen space experience with not much drama, but there's not enough there to keep me invested for long periods. Capital ships doesn't interest me much (I might log in just to see it) as I'm not interested in investing the time or really multiplayer at all to make it worthwhile.
The new upcoming first person mode might get me back to check it out.
My huge barrier for these MMO experiences and Star Citizen as well, is it's too much time commitment to get the payoff from it. My style and free time is more jumping on 5 to 100 hour single player experiences then moving to the next unique one.JRE84 likes this. -
I just bought Far Cry 4 during recent sales + $10 coupon from Epic games store.
This is my 1st Far Cry experience and this game exceeded my expectations!! The gameplay is surprisingly fun!! The weapons sound and feel so good. The stealth system is fantastic. You can also ride and using the elephant to kill enemies and rhinos.
Graphics are maybe look a bit old in 2020 but it took me some time to adjust my eyes and starting to appreciate Far Cry 4 Himalayan setting and environment. It has a very good physics and details. The Yogi & Reggie and Shangri-La missions are unique. -
Maan I hated those missions. Can't remember why though

It's almost insane that after all this time Skyrim is the #2 seller (#1 actual game) on Steam during their sale. How does everyone not already have it. lol. I also find it hard to believe a $1,000 VR kit is #1... way too expensive to move that much volume.. either that or the number of copies of those other games actually selling is SUPER LOW..
I am guessing the difference with "Global" is worldwide vs US? It's #3 there.. still insane...

I just finished the main mission. Luckily I didn’t killed Uncle Min!! Anyway, the ending really made me question all my decisions from the beginning
I’m only at 2nd mission of Shangri-La. Had to do the flying stuff was quite difficult. -
I'm convinced these reports are purely fictional with the sole purpose to help valve make more money. That's exactly the thing with the Index sets, they aren't even moving that much volume and they're not playing fair at all with prioritizing full sets over those who chose to upgrade (buy only headset with controllers). If you look at the headset+controllers tab, almost none of the orders from the beginning of March have been fulfilled yet. They only keep shipping a small amount of full sets with way longer delays that their "8 weeks" estimate.
I don't think this crowd filled report is that accurate but it sure paints a bad image and it can't be far off. It's easy to find by anyone simply trying to find out what the heck is going on with their shipping times.

Between Skyrim and The Witcher 3, which one is better to buy? I'm waiting for summer sales.
-
Get both. They are different enough, the only similarity is open world.
Skyrim gives you much more character customization and freedom of options with weaker characters and less cinematic feel and story, though the story in Skyrim isn't bad per se. 1st person. (3rd person Skyrim isn't as good IMO...)
Witcher gives you much stronger characters and cinematics. 3rd person.
Overall I'd say I liked Witcher 3 more.. but I put a lot more hours into Skyrim. Can't really compare them head to head IMO. -
Valve sold approximately 103,000 Index headsets, a jump of over 100% over the previous quarter, according to Nielsen's SuperData. This made the Valve Index the best- selling PC VR headset of the quarter, outselling the substantially cheaper Oculus Rift S.Jan 28, 2020
Half-Life Alyx Gives Valve Index a Huge Sales Boost
Grabbed from google and after some quick research yeah it is selling crazy amounts, and it's not a farce. half life alyx being the main reason.
Also of note I bought a 1700 dollar vr laptop and plan on getting the index just to play alyx and watch movies. And im an average joe, but alyx looks unreal. and yeah that was enough to make me flinch money wisehfm likes this. -
If I could do it seated and wireless without the need for any other hardware sitting in the room I might consider it. But the requirement of wires, base stations, standing room, and being able to swing the controllers around is a no go. I'd probably just want to throw it on for things like Elite Dangerous where I could get by just turning my head in a seating position using conventional control methods. It's not really worth it for that though. I've used the original Rift in a demo before and I've actually helped develop a VR game for a Game Jam.. just not nearly enough interest for me that's intersecting with viability high enough to even try to put up a fight to upend the space we'd need. I'd lose that fight anyway, but I'm not passionate about it to even bother bring it up.
If I had more than an NYC apartment and had a dedicated room for the PC that I could just do what I wanted with and it was large enough it might be worth considering. I'd probably end up using that space to put out my guitars and audio equipment instead though so I didn't have to keep dragging that stuff out of storage spaces all the time.JRE84 likes this. -
It does work seated for Alyx. I also have a small space for this, about 1 square meter in front of my desk - enough to turn with the chair but not enough to swing arms in all position. This was a little bit painful and I had to pay attention every time I needed to flip a switch, pick something up and especially when throwing stuff in game. Even with all this, I still enjoyed the game so much that I immediately put myself on the 8 week waitlist for an Index... about 12 weeks ago. Hopefully when/if I get it, I will set up my play area a bit differently, with more wiggle room.
With the wires, it's not that bad. Essentially there's only one long wire which you need to be mindful of. The base stations are not interconnected between themselves or with the computer, so all you need are power outlets for them.hfm likes this. -
I basically sit on a recliner with a lapdesk with the eGPU on the floor by a small end table.. not happening.. I am not aware of any worthy competition so far, besides the Vive (if you don't want to wait for an Index) or the Oculus. If you do find yourself looking at an Oculus model, please consider you're supporting facebook... and everyone dislikes that
On another note, I just finished the main story in Mass Effect Andromeda last night.
I have mixed feelings about it. I think they messed up the balancing somehow. I only did a handful of side quests, only really explored one planet and got advanced enough that the game basically turned into easy mode. Also, I feel the main story is way too short if we think about the whole idea and what could have been done. I may still mess around with it, but they really should have made it longer, or intertwine it with other quests to make you spend more time on other planets too. The ending, well... not going to spoil anything, but in line with the previous 2 games, it was very disappointing to me.JRE84 likes this. -
I was digging around some more to see what's up with the Index orders and why Valve is shipping out a lot of full kits but none of the Headset+controller kits. I've seen reports of orders for full kits submitted at the beginning of April, being shipped out these days yet orders for Headsets+controllers being placed at the beginning of March, are still being ignored.
This doesn't make too much sense as it's still quite an expensive kit at $750 so I thought I'd ask Valve. Of course I wasn't expecting an honest answer but still, being straight up lied to my face is somewhat irritating... "as we are able to"... pfft.

They probably are selling what its seems they are selling as alyx is a pretty big deal.
