Horrors tend to be comedies for me. I think I'll check that game out since I'll probably get a good laugh out of it. Thanks for mentioning it!

Played this game right after it was released. Despite some jankiness it had really interesting setting, story and branching quests. I really liked it.hfm likes this. -
I might have to try it out next, just noticed it's on GamePass

whats funny about killing zombies?Clamibot and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
The noises they make are funny. That, and I have a morbid sense of humor. It's the same reason I find Dead Space funny.KING19 and hertzian56 like this.

It's 2021, a man needs a sense of humor. Morbid, black, dry; any port in a storm.

This reminded me of Stubbs The Zombie - Rebel Without a Pulse. A very old game. For some reason I loved it so much. I think a remaster is supposed to come out soon.
But yeah, killing zombies, I would describe satisfying rather than funny. Also, Dead Space - funny?hertzian56, Clamibot and killkenny1 like this. -
Indeed. I think the noises the necromorphs make are funny. It's like fighting zombies.
Pretty much anything intended to be a horror in video games ends up being a comedy for me. -
I really liked games like Two Worlds and the Gothic games, I suspect this is in the same vein as those.Clamibot likes this.

its not intended to be funny....its as dumb as saying mathematics is funny
perception and intuition require intelligence....i have a really dumb friend that laughs at the wrong times in movies and its really annoying -
Hm I never thought the weird sounds in deadspace were funny but to each his own lol. Gonna have to get back into those again great classics, EA's swan song as far as I'm concerned.

Humor is completely subjective.
For instance, some people think that SNL is still funny.hertzian56 and Clamibot like this. -

Bought Mass Effect Legendary on Steam... then noticed the whopping big 100GB download. While bandwidth here is fast, there's also a monthly download limit of 150GB or pay extra.
-
Good to know. Pretty crappy move on their part bundling all of them in one download. I was thinking about this. Would like to play ME1 but no intentions of touching 2 and 3. Why make me download all?
-
Playing DOOMII obviously

Why only ME1? -
I enjoyed it the most back when it came out. I tried 2 and 3 as well but for some reason they didn't stick with me. I didn't finish either of them. In comparison, I couldn't stop playing ME1.
-
They leaned more toward shooter after the first. I liked them all but the first was the best to my taste. I bought it day one, am maybe 10ish hours in now, and am enjoying it. One thing of note: I tried KOTOR not too long ago and it was too old for me, couldn't make a go of it. No such problem with ME, it's old school, you have to be patient, but not so antiquated that it bothers me. It's subjective, hard to say where someone else will fall in that respect. I was worried about it so I thought I would mention it.

Devs are so lazy with compression now, repackers can take 117gb and compress it to 50-60gb but devs just assume everyone has unlimited ultrafast net. It's almost getting to the point of just putting it all on a 100gb flash drive and selling that at brick and mortar stores would be feasible and preferred. Or even use compression techniques and put it all on a 60gb flash drive or even an ssd/nvme.

There are different types of horror.
I often find slasher horror flicks to be funny (some actually are intended to be like that), because sometimes due to over the top blood and gore they go into the uncanny valley.
And then there is horror which is basically a scary thriller. Now those can be really eerie and horrific. Especially with proper slow build up and then BAM (though none of that cheap jump scare crap).
Math is funny. I often found myself laughing at an equation of two, though that usually was followed by crying and a feeling of despair.

On topic - still mostly Forza Horizon 4
Also started playing some co-op games with coworkers - L4D2, Trine, Broforce - good stuff.
Tried Payday 2, but found it kinda meh.krabman likes this. -
To me its funny when playing CO-OP Zombie games like Killing Floor and L4D with friends and we just laugh getting hit by Fleshpounds (KF) and Tanks (L4D) and random stuff that happens. I used to be scared of Zombies and mutants when i was kid and could never play games like RE2 for long without getting scared, Good times lol.Clamibot likes this.

Days Gone, really good port with only stutter here and there runs 80+fps 1080p or 65+ 2k. Game is frankly amazing graphically feels like playing a painting, Rage 2 and RDR2 impressed me that way too. Language is offensive(hypocrits) but that seems to be the times we live in, no bombers or etc here though so anything they can get away with. Not as bad as that garbage Deadwood but still it's excessive.

Original bladerunner.
It's a blast from the past.. -
Last Epoch... Diablo clone with better graphics and none of the slick professionalism; low production values aside it's not bad so far.
-
I didn't expect to enjoy Rise of the Tomb Raider as much as I did; solid across the board IMO.
-
Thanks for notifying us. This is a game I've been wanting to get, and I never got a notification that it was on sale despite it being on my wishlist.
-
I just booted up crysis remastered and beat the first level and all I can say is what is crytek doing its better everytime I play it, input lag is gone graphics are better time of day is new and water looks crazy good, effects are photo realistic and textures are the best iv'e seen, man I like what they are doing but I also want crysis 4....and if they keep improving crysis we will never see crysis 4
-
does anyone know of a game like mass effect with a great story line I wouldn't mind buying a new game today and seeing if it holds my interest

you could try fallout new vegas/fallout 4, prey, deus ex, the outer worlds.JRE84 likes this.

Was finally getting into yakuza 7/LAD, not very far in though. The new turn based combat isn't my favorite it just puts more useless time wasting cookie cutter dialogue and button pushing/ui in the way imo the random street battles are fun for about 2 seconds into the 3rd or 4th time after that it's just tedious. My least favorite aspect of the whole yakuza franchise. Otherwise seems good so far, more yakuza different characters.

Don't mean to clog this up but was just jumping into Witcher 3 again mostly for the ambient music which is so wonderful, the OST doesn't include most of it so had to get it somewhere else. Velen and Skellige stand out. I really need to do another clean playthrough of this masterpiece. 1440p dsr/60 locked. I'll say it again 2015 was epic afa pc games imo. Dying Light, Fallout 4, MGSV/Z and this, I still play all those games today.

Haven't you played Unity before that?
Are you slow torturing yourself by playing one AC game after another?

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Bought Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition on GOG sale. I've already got an ordinary version which I played through a couple of times before, but this one has all the DLC, so just grabbed it for a couple of Euros and decided to play again. One of my most favorite open world games.
Shame the planed sequel was turned into MMO and then got canceled... -
LOL. To be fair I finished Unity after setting aside for a bit... not burned out on it just yet so trying to make progress, I've played them all so far!
-
I gave Days Gone a shot tonight. To my surprise two hours just flew by. I like how it looks, it has a very outdoorsy dying light feeling but I'm only at the beginning. If you like survival games and zombies, check it out.

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
How do you like them so far?
I would say I played about half of them, and out of that half finished around half. There are some really good ones, some I even consider among my favorite games, and then there are some "meh"
The "modern day" storyline also went down the crapper in later games. IMO they should just scrap it. Actually they might as well scrap AC franchise.
As much as I like Odyssey, it's a completely different game from old AC games despite Ubi's hardest attempt to glue on AC game mechanics to a slasher game. Origins-onward should have been made into separate spin-off series. Or have Origins be AC, but then Odyssey and Valhalla move to something like "Assassins: Warriors of the Past - Odyssey" (catchy name, I know) or "Tom's Rainbow Cry Dogs Odyssey." -
Idk really can't get into yakuzaLAD, so corny all the time they went too far imo the bizarre side of rgg studios needs to be reigned in by a good editor. This should not be a mainline yakuza game but some spinoff. So I got some really old 2015 witcher 3 saves so I don't need to start right at the beginning and am into that now, even today it looks amazing to me and I'm only 2k dsr/60 on a 1080p screen.

Following up on this... I can't stop playing it. The initial reviews from the usual bigger youtube channels were so wrong.
I honestly can't find any major faults with this game. The graphics look amazing, the story is gripping and it's so cool how it has sort of multiple quest lines and seamlessly keeps you going from one to another. It has some survival elements, a bit of dying light feeling, stealth, action and exploration.
If one likes zombie games - this has got to go on top of the list.
Hordes... yeah, there are zombie hordes. Totally mind-blowing when you run into one for the first time. -
might fire up half life alyx...its the most impressive game of the last 20 years but i stuggle to motivate myself to do anything with my mental illness....everyday fight

I find a redeeming quality in all of them so far, origins is next on the list so I'll see sometime soon what's up there. So far there's not much modern day aspects to Syndicate. I like it so far, it cut a lot of the parts I didn't like much out like managing an assassin guild and stuff. I like that you just kind of pick some stuff from a tree and they manage themselves for the most part. I don't use them on the streets much but it's nice that I can call them in the rare occasion I want them to muddy up the field and I've run out of smoke.
I liked Unity a lot more than the reviews for it did. I'm eager to finish this and get in to origins though, I think I've had enough European/Western settings from the series and anticipating Egypt.killkenny1 and JRE84 like this. -
Origins is the best overall open world one, it has the egypt mystique to it granted it's not really "ancient" egypt it's the after Alexander hellenized egypt of the ptolomies and pretty much Roman egypt. I loved Odyssey as well but it doesn't have that mystery about it as Origins even though it's set way before Origins in time.JRE84 likes this.

I also liked Unity quite a lot, but it's due to me picking up a year after the release, when most of the bugs were fixed.
Speaking of AC games, just finished Valhalla. I really liked Odyssey, but this one overstayed it's welcome. And it still kept on going even after you finished the game. This has to be the first time I was all Petey Wheatstraw during an epilogue.
Luckily it's all over. Finished and deleted the game.
Now back to either Sleeping Dogs (damn you, Dogeyes!!!!!) or Immortals Fenyx Rising (aka a better Assassin's Creed).
There was also a Mi-24 release in Early Access for DCS, should give it a go.
