I like my 360. I admit I flashed the firmware. Though to me its different. I don't play it more cause of it. I actually play it less. I guess me having to go out and buy a game makes me want to play it.
-
-
tell me you intentionally said that and you were joking? -
Well it would probably red ring faster if left in the sun for some reason
-
-
lol, you get a three year friggin warrenty with the 360 because of the issues
Sony just can't keep up with it's own technology, maybe the PS3 will be worth it in a year or two, but right now, the 360 is much more worth it
I'd say go for it, a ton of games coming out, and it's a lot cheaper than buying a PC! -
XBOX 360 worth it?
No. Just No.
Why?
Xbox 360 = not-quite-top-of-the-range pc MINUS all that great pc fuctionality you know and love.
-
Right now in terms of games xbox 360 is by far the best choice and that cant be denied.
but in terms of value for money the PS3 is much better and anyone who tells you otherwise is kidding themselves the PS3 is a far superior console than the 360. if your patient to wait until late 07 early 08 when more games kick in then buy a PS3 as its more future proof with blu-ray technology(which alone at the very least costs $399.99), motion sensing controller, easily expandle hard drive, built in wifi/memory slots and region free games.
but above all the online is free and its true that Microsofts online features(marketplace and interface) are better but the actual online in game experience is exactly the same and to me thats really all that matters. some people are over exaggerating the ps3 online service as you still get free downloadble demos, trailers etc and purchase games and such.
at the end of the day the xbox 360 does have the best selection of games at the moment and many former playstation exclusives are now cross-platform and vice-versa. but if you can afford a ps3 and can wait for a while for the games to appear the definatley get a ps3 as it does provide the best value for money. -
Xbox 360 for the win!
Honestly is has the games. It has live. The PS3 has limited games and no live. Live makes the 360 twice as good. I just last week got another 13month card for live off of www.buy.com for $38.....going through google checkout I got it for $28I should have gotten 2 for 26 months at that price.
HDMI...not important honestly. No games will use it, even on the PS3 not many actually use it.
The RROD problem, well I have had mine since April 2006 Zero problems. The brand new ones have a better heat sync, and the CPU is glued down better to the motherboard. In October they will have cooler CPU's, plus its covered if anything happends anyhow.
Its not the console its the game and the service (live) that supports it. Xbox clearly wins right now by a BIG margin. -
INEEDMONEY Homicidal Teddy Bear
PS3 is eventually going to beat the 360 IMO, but that's not happening for another 1.5-2yrs.
And PS3 is a better value believe it or not cause of the blue ray, built in wireless, and you can attach any HDD to it.
The 360 has better games right now and pretty much for the rest of the year, but the PS3 is going to have some good games come out too.
It's a hard choice. I've completely held off buying either of them.
...Wii FTW -
does the xbox360 and ps3 online gaming have hackers?
i'm sick to death of them on the pc. Just ruins the experience really.
Havent really decided myself what to get. Might get both tbh. If i can get xbox360 really cheap now (under £200 for premium?) then around january 2008 get ps3 (should be cheaper then and more games out for it)
I have a hdtv and a surround sound system so looking to get the most out of it -
-
So many ps3 fanboys... eek.... but honestly the 360 is better. The online functionality is better (I don't think the PS3 will ever match up to live), the games are better (I was disappointed when the famed Heavenly Sword only got a 7 from ign, at least it looks good though)... the hardware is... not that great.. but the warranty rocks.
From newegg:
Some random AMD processor: $109
nVidia 7800: $130
Wireless 360 controller: $40, or Good mouse (its a good controller!): $50
1 gb ram: $35
Crappy computer case with PSU: $24
80 gb hard disk: $40
Decent MoBo: $100
Let's see.. that comes to $488
The Xbox Premium is $350 from new egg.. -
Xbox 360 isn´t worth a **** I piss on the white box of O Red Ring of Death
Kidding aside no offence to anyone. I own the 360 and so far the 360 has the best games. The cross platform usually looks better on the 360 than the PS3. Just realize the GPU in the 360 is better than PS3´s. Hell even ID and John Carmack himself said that the PS3 is a pain in the ass to code to since the low 256 GPU memory it has, they had to make some sacrifices for their new engine. Compared to that the 360 has 512MB of GPU memory and free AA to that from it´s 10MB EDram buffer memory.
All this hype Sony put out, now show it to me? Wouldn´t the PS3 suppose to be twice or four times as fast as the 360? I think I heard that in the hype about the crunching numbers. So far it is the 360 that is the more powerful both hardware wise and game wise. Go for the 360 you won´t regret it. -
can i setup multiple user accounts on xbox live? or is it just one? Or do i need to pay for each user account $50 each time? for the one xbox360
Do you get a HD component cable with the xbox360? or do i need to buy it separately?
also is the HD AV cable that comes with some premium packages any good (i assume use this to connect to speakers etc) Do you get
Im strongly tempted to go for the xbox360 as i can get my flatm8 to chip in some money as i can basically sell it to him come feb 2008 -
-
i say get the 360, or get a good gaming PC with XP and use the WiiMote and Nunchuck to play games like that, i have it, and its ausome
-
JimyTheAssassin Notebook Evangelist
Windows (minimum XP home OEM) $90
Optical Drive ( dvd-rom generic ) $20
Sound Card $?
Misc cables the cheap mobo didn't include $?
extra fans the Cheap Case doesn't include $10
a keyboard $10 - 50
speakers $?
microphone $?
that comes to atleast ....$618+
And you still have perform better than a dedicated system for gaming with these specs http://hardware.teamxbox.com/articles/xbox/1144/The-Xbox-360-System-Specifications/p1
I'll leave it to the jury since I haven't built in quite a while -
INEEDMONEY Homicidal Teddy Bear
Yeah wiimote on PC is pretty cool.
-
Sony wants a free online experience. M$ wants you to pay for online play that offers nothing more than free online PC multiplayers.
Its pretty much a no-brainer , get a PS3. -
Depending on what type of HDTV you own, 720p or 1080p with VGA connection?
If so go buy the 360 Premium and get you a good Monster Game VGA Cable and run it that way. You get to play games in native 720p or upscaled to 1080p PLUS the dvd player upconverts your standard dvd to higher resolution.
Trust me when I say this is the only way to go 360 wise IMO...
And I know, everybody is gonna run to this and say HDMI, but trust me the cheapest way to go is the premium with the VGA cable and I PROMISE you that you will get an exceptional picture with top notch " console" graphics...
This goes for anybody else out there with a vacant VGA connection using component cables at this very moment, you will see at least a 25% improvement in the graphics of your 360 output to your HDTV. Set the console to native resolution 720p and the expanded mode option and you are set for life!
One more thing, don't listen to those POS3 fanboys as they are just jealous they bought an inferior machine and spent out the wazoo for it.
360 rules the console wars hands down... -
The 360 rules this console war NOT, the Wii is killing both machines selling damn near half a million every month. 360 has more a lot of software, PS3 does not at the moment but this fall it is quite hard to say 360's lineup is more impressive from a technical or unique standpoint examples (Little Big Planet, GT5P, Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank Future). GT5 is easily the best looking console game ever, and potentially the best looking game ever only competing with Crysis. Don't believe me go to gametrailers and watch some of those HD videos on it, all gameplay.
-
Dude we are talking about serious gaming consoles, not your little Wii. The reason it outsells is it's lure to children and thier parents, due to the "cute" little games it plays..
And don't make me go online and draw all the games that are exclusive to 360 plus the higher quality shared games that are coming up this fall either...
Give me a break PULEASE! -
Last year wasn´t PS3´s nor is this year. It´s funny Sony has lost so much exclusive games, guess why? It´s a hell lot easier to code for the 360 and it sells better than PS3.
Sony go and lower the price of that overhyped piece of junk and you might sell more consoles but hell pay $500 for a console, no way. -
It still stands GT5 looks better than anything on any other console so the system is the STRONGEST console on the market. I know all the 360 exclusive games games are a big part of my life being as though I'm learning to be a game designer. I know about all the stuff so no need to act like you know more than me. The Wii sure its not strong as PS3 or 360 but the fact you said 360 rules this war is technically wrong lol. Oh yeah and I also forgot Killzone 2 which I doubted heavily finally shown and also looks better than anything the competition has. You can't doubt the PS3 tech wise, and if any of you bring up multiplatform games you lost credibility.
-
Then tell us since you are so "smart" why couldn't they get Madden 08 to run at 60fps on the PS3 then? -
Console fanboys are really annoying.
HDMI is just DVI in a different pin configuration with sound. It's digital as well, so quality will be better as there's no analog issues (crappy cables and such). -
All your posts seem extremely negative against anything that's not xbox360 related, I think YOU are the pissed off fan boy that regrets your purchase. -
-
btw, wdlp65, I read alot of your previous posts from many threads back, about 30. What the hell is your problem!? ALOT of the topics are just, "how will this run on my notebook" and you write Get an xbox360, WOW, your an idiot, why the hell are you on a notebook forum telling people that playing PC games is stupid? -
Because it's a port of the xbox360 version. Ports always have peformance downgrade. Just look at Oblivion, yo get X360 quality, you need a 7600GT. Now for lost planet, you need a 8800GTX to get X360-like, and even then you won't hit the 45FPS mark
The Tales of Symphonia PS2 port only ran at 30FPS versus 60FPS on the gamecube for exemple. And Tales of the Abyss runs at 60FPS on the PS2, it's better graphically
And they still can't fullly take advantage of the cell cpu -
-
There goes your credibility...
Nice try homer, face it it's called inferior hardware!
End of discussion. -
also if you dont have an hdtv its not worth buying
-
and its more fun to sit on your couch with a nice big hdtv playing 360 then to sit at your computer playing games on a smaller monitor
-
Hey wdlp65, is it fun being a voluntary marketing department? -
Heres these videos to strengthen my argument against this 360 radical.

I'm done my point has been made. PS3 doesn't suck, 360 is great might as well buy both like me. -
Hes the only person on this board i've seen insult peoples' intelligence , you never do that no matter how wrong they are if you want to get the least bit far in life.
-
The 360 is worth it but the high failure rate is horrible.
-
they'll fix it for free. even pay for shipping both ways.
so thats not a worry -
The fact that they do that doesn't nullify that the system will **** out on you though wtf. My 360 has already RROD before they sent me a new one in I believe two or three weeks. Good thing it was before Bioshock.
-
Actually that 15% off electronics and accessories excludes gaming consoles. -
95% of 360's have never experianced a problem and yet some people believe that you have like a half chance of it breaking on you.
What people have to remember is that whilst there appears to be a lot of cases on the web and stuff of people's whose consoles have broken these are very small in reality.
The fact is that once someone's console is broken they join forum's and the like to moan about it, but if it is fine they aren't going to bother talking about it, the time could be better spent playing! -
95% my god and you got that percent from where? Jesus people on message boards making things up out of no where these days. A lot of them break PERIOD.
-
Mine just broke down and I've been waiting since Thursday for a box haven't received it yet and even after I send it in I will be without it for at least 3 weeks and I just got Bioshock
Kris2, If the problems were majorly hyped up Microsoft wouldn't have spent over a billion dollars to extend the warranties for 3 years and refund those who have already had theirs repaired do to the 3ROD's, And aren't 42% of all statistics made up on the spot? Clearly yours is. -
INEEDMONEY Homicidal Teddy Bear
Stop crying...their fixing it for FREE AND extending the warranty. While your waiting for your 360, go to the gym, read a book, do some hw, find another hobby. It's not the end of the world.
-
Fixing it for free? Last time I checked I had a 2 year extended warranty with Microsoft that I paid for, hardly free. I'll be going to the gym later this evening but thanks for the concern lol, no one said it was the end of the world, don't know why people read into things too much.
-
INEEDMONEY Homicidal Teddy Bear
I wasn't talking to you specifically. That was to everyone with the problem. And we buy warranties for our expensive purchases in case things like this happen, right?
