if in doubt: revert, revert, revert!

For any Kepler users out there, know that this driver seems to work fine on my laptop. For now anyways.

Literally the solution to all PC problems.
1. Restart
2. If that doesn't work, revert.
3. (Use your backup if you've got one... and ofc you've got one, right
)

Well, realistically if there is no new functionality for the mobile driver, then I am happy Nvidia didn't ship a noop version that we would then ignore (if we knew it had nothing for us).
There isn't a Pascal mobile yet, or even a Pascal desktop mobile, so we aren't missing anything by not getting a Pascal features driver.
Unless he is saying that why hasn't Nvidia kept up with shipping Desktop/Mobile Pascal simultaneously because serieously, what is more important than Pascal Mobile??!!
Nothing, except SLI Pascal Mobile

no his point is, nVIDIA has the time to release a new GPU and a new driver yet they cannot release a good driver for us with older cards since months.
Out of all the list of garbage drivers, the golden drivers were 374.88, 359.00, and 362.00TomJGX likes this. -
Why should Greedia bothering with old tech? They can't earn more money from your old purchase. Maybe leasing of cards have been a better idea?
Fully supports of previous tech. If you're not happy with a driver you can get double the monthly license back. Or triple
TomJGX, Spartan@HIDevolution and hmscott like this. -
Right right, ok ok.
Well, at this point I would rather have 1080 GPU's, and new drivers, than spend time on legacy stuff
Then again, that may be because I sold all my previous generation stuff to get ready to get Pascal.
I am running many generations old stuff, enjoying the fruits of ancient labors, while waiting for the Pascal mobile train to leave the station.
The most up to date drivers for what I am running are now EOL, last updated in March 2016. It happens eventually to all my Nvidia backup cards.
And, come'on, Nvidia is certainly going to put all their efforts to add to the $B's they already spent on the Pascal roll out.
It's their future.Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

so is your next laptop gonna be a Clevo or are you gonna give ASUS another chance in hope that they fixed their left USB ports issues? or Maybe MSI if they fix their power draw issueshmscott likes this. -

Nothing is even hinted at release, let alone rumored, or leaked - from any vendor - at least till next week.
It's gonna be a while before I jump in. I am at the stage in life where I enjoy the sorted out set up, launched in the 2nd or 3rd iteration.
It might be that I just can't wait, and dip my toes in earlier, but not in a rush right now.
I really hope they all pull out the stops, and put out killer Pascal single / SLI machines at all performance levels. I hope the decision is difficult.
Everyone gets a dance

Noo. I'm +50 and now it's nearly 35 years ago I learned a very little bit English. I can be better but you know... Everything goes slower in the head

And I need more reps...
I'm sitting here in my army camp reading all these posts, and I'm itching to get back to my laptop... But then I realise it has only a GTX 860M in it (can't even run Witcher 3 at 900p at 45 FPS).
I swear, if nVidia had used a 256-bit bus, or even a 192-bit bus instead of the 128-bit bus that it currently has, the 860/960M GPUs would have beastly performance for their price point... possibly within 2-30% of the 970M. But no, nVidia has to throw in another stop-gap GPU called the 965M...
Screw you, nVidia.
On the bright side, at least I have a new 16 GB RAM kit coming in, to let me max out them X-Plane sliders... -
Bench 3DM11 and Firestrike with the latest driver. Then you can obtain rep from me
Compare with your older best driver
-
Eh 365.19 seems to be another golden driver.
I mean... even ETHREM has no problems with the driver.
Ethrem is like, plagued by Steve Jobs and the evil IT gods haunting all his machines because he didn't buy a Macbook with the money he spent on his Clevo. Ethrem is basically Murphy himself. If ETHREM says a driver is the best he's used in god knows how long, it might as well be a driver gifted purely from the gods of technology.TomJGX, Ashtrix, Spartan@HIDevolution and 4 others like this. -

I had a break between I think early 2011 and mid 2013, however I otherwise have generally been around since 2009.
I've seen much. -
I had a good break too between 2009 and 2014 but since 2014, no break. Just lots of computers breaking... Heh.

Wow... compared to you guys I'm practically a noob.

Lol noob..
I'm still on 362.00, works for me and no reason to upgrade since the newest game I'm playing is division which works fine on it... Will try the new 365.19 magical driver when I can..

I am forced to upgrade because Doom runs like crap on older drivers

368.22 is non-essential cos doom still runs good and same with overwatch. i'll probably update when elgato fixes their drivers/apps.

Took the plunge.
VSync seems to run better on Overwatch now.
Gonna test a bit more. -
Nvidia has not even updated for the 900 series Desktop cards (still at 368.22)
There's a PEG modded driver for 368.25 at TI for the 10 series Pascal but works on Alienware notebooks with the J95 INF mods on Maxwell, unusual.Last edited: May 28, 2016 -

I'm on the same driver, but why is it that I'm getting more options than you are in the power management mode option?
-
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
strange, I've never ever seen those options before.
Maybe because I have a desktop class 980 GTX and not the M version? -
Using my external GTX 980 through external monitor (no Optimus in use), but I can check if the same happens when using my laptop's screen (because then Optimus will be in use).
EDIT: Just checked. Same options as my screenshot. Hmm...
The only thing I can think of is maybe driver for notebook vs. driver for desktop. I'm using the driver for notebooks. @Phoenix Are you using a driver for a desktop? -
-
368.25 (r368_20-5), 10.18.13.6825 (5-21-2016)
368.22 (r368_20-3), 10.18.13.6822 (5-19-2016)

using the laptop driver bro. This is what confuses me most actually, under the nVIDIA Drivers download, if I choose the 980M, the first card that appears is the 980 GTX, even though it is a desktop class laptop. Although, when trying to install desktop drivers, it doesn't say its incompatible and installs fine. Can you explain this @D2 Ultima -
Most likely because it is natural for people to search for notebook drivers. Perhaps the same driver for desktop vs. desktop version of 980.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
yeah it's really confusing how it's intercompatible with both desktop and notebook drivers. I wonder if the desktop driver will give better performance. I need time to test this

Desktop and laptop drivers are essentially the same, from what I know. The drivers simply treat cards differently for the most part.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Hotfix drivers from Nvidia can be used on Desktop and laptops with no mod.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Interesting. Does that include inf modding?

Hotfix drivers that are launched is not designed specifically for desktop vs. laptops that I know. No mod needed. Download and install. If this work on all of setups, can I not guarantee. Maybe @j95 can give you a better answer.Kade Storm, Ashtrix and TBoneSan like this.

I'm using Desktop driver and * Idk if it's placebo or what*, first the 100+ FPS was mo on the 362.00 with few dropand later when I used the 365.19 nb driver the fps was mostly at 90-100 and later then using Desktop driver I'm getting the old avg consistency, unless it slips to 90 under some too many spells and happening and then gains back.
Oh, the game was Dota2, the game pacing is always different since heroes and spells etc so I cannot be 100% sure.
EDIT : Did 3 FS tests and here are the results.
One, Two (Says time inconsistencies detected lol But highest of all), Three. Only difference being 1st one had Chrome running and the others two dont.Last edited: May 29, 2016 -
So which driver is the golden one? 365.19 or this?
Also @Papusan, which driver are you using? The magical hotfix desktop and laptop working one?
