really? why bb has to lower the price, there is no competition.
7811fx was the only one has a high end graphics card 9800m gts.

Interestingly enough, the "Specs" page that was on gateway's P-Series site has disappeared. The page still exists, but all references to it have been removed.
-
-
This is just speculation, but do you think a P-series refresh is associated with nVIDIA's MCP7A-U chipset? nVIDIA is officially releasing/announcing their motherboard with integrated GPU tomorrow. It would be an slick feature to have HybridPower available with the 9800m gts.

May come in handy upon 7811 death outside of warranty (heaven forbid). Buy bare bones OCZ from Xotic for $1200 and throw in the 7811 parts. Alway looking for ways to bail out my bottom feeding butt.

but the idea is not a bad one at all, you did all the upgrades to your 6831/6860/7811, then you would save a bundle by moving them to the ocz....but im thinking...we might have to see how that pans out over the next month or so....they may or may not run into some of the problems the 7811 ran into.... -
John, did you get one of these or what new rig are we talking about that you have? -
He got the one in his sig!

Ah yes, I've often considered the NP9262. I've paid $2000 for Sager before and was very happy (5600 days) but just couldn't justify it on the current bang for buck level. No doubt the reigning king. All Hail Johnksss and his NP9262.
I wonder how the speaker sound is on the 9262? Sound is my only complaint on the 7811. -
I tried emailing Gateway Customer Service with regards to the status of the 7811FX. Below is the response I was given. Take it for what its worth with regards to the accuracy. I am still somewhat surprised if all this pans out to be true.
"Thank you for using Gateway's Online email support. Available P series models are listed in the link below. The P-7811FX has been replaced by the current models:

I think that they are just a placeholder for a new machine. Still odd that the 7811fx went EOL so quickly.
I am still glad I got it though. It's been a perfect machine so far. -

I wonder if this all is just a case of Gateway having a lot more 8800 cards than they anticipated and thus needing to take a step back and clear out the stock before moving back to the 9800? Perhaps the 9800 is harder to come by right now. It may be a temporary discontinuation of the P-7811 FX. What's going on seems rather weird, but it was also weird at the start having a more powerful system undercut their own P-6860 FX model and others using older hardware. Gateway has been making some weird business decisions lately... If they're not moving old hardware, than preventing the new hardware from getting to the market would be a correction on their part (although this is bad for consumers).
I would hope they don't come out with another model at the same price point that has an even newer GPU in it. I have a flawless P-7811 FX so I'm happy with it, but nobody likes to buy something and then find out a month or two later that their new product has already been replaced by something even newer. -
That's life... haha, dragon, you know that Giant grocery store in your town? I helped lay the block to build it a couple years ago... LOL sorry did construction for a year and thought that was funny... I'm in Dillburg PA now.
-
yep! that bare bones option is looking very nice to people who already have most of the parts or can get them cheaper. (keeps cost down) but they seem to be exaggerating the facts as to how well the machine really is. more so that we went over and had a word or two..*LOL* (don't be trying to go without me E) (LOL) -
-
I'll feel better about the 7811 when people stop complaining
Oh look, a flying pig! -
john, I wasn't bein too aware of what I was typing, and I believe I offended some folks on that ATI Forum. had to edit the post..and yea, I see you're there.
-
Woah Jonh what happened to your 7811fx?
-
-
didn't want the 7811 competing againgst my new toy at the moment.
-
john..been doin some shopping. I dunno about that ATI Crossfire, it's got some fans..but I prefer NVIDIA. And rj is the only place left to get 9800m GT sli. Otherwise its the GTX and $600 more than the GT. I built one with the q9650, gt sli, 4 gb ram, no HDDs, 1920.1200 lcd, btooth, wifi, and it's runnin like $3200 or so. Man.. I'm not sure I can part with that much cash for a computer. And if I dont make a move, it jumps $600 for the GTXs. That whitebook is looking tempting.. Heck, i'll only spend $1500 and then throw all my crap in it. That seems like a great deal, but those dam video cards.. *grumbles*
-
-
john.. I think I'm gonna make the leap into the whitebook. And, if I don't care for it..xotic will allow a return. But, I'm thinkin this thing may be the new hotness. And, it obviously allows the x9100 to OC.. If I sell off the 7811, then it would really only cost me like $300 to upgrade. Seems fair, eh?
-
Ya im trying to find a buyer for my machine atm for $1150 locally if possible as so i can snag a whitebook .i havent put much effort into it though just mentioned it to a few friends who usually buy everything i have once i mention its for sale .
-
yep, sounds pretty dammn fair to me!! i say go for it! just remember...xotic might charge you shipping on the return. (speculation of course)
-
Wow. Everyone seems to be selling their Gateways. Kinda sad actually. lol
-
yes...seems that way.....sli setups are starting to atract more people...even if it isn't 100 percent up and running right.
-
No me, I'm in for the long haul ... however long that is.

why does a mod have to approve my comments?
-
im glad you ordered one so we can get a totally unbias review on it(and beat the living snot out of it) and since the boards over there are a ghost town you can still come here and talk about it.
-
if your talking about over there..im probably not far behind.. -
no no..it's odd. When I do a reply here in NBR; the board sends me to a brief page saying a moderator must approve my comment before posting it..the screen shows for about 2 seconds, then forwards me right back to the thread Im posting in. Odd.
-
-
I read your thread in the Board Suggestions forum. That's very weird indeed. I wonder what they mean by temporary measure.
-
-
-
Nevermind. That was Jakamo. My bad. Apparently he's having the same problem as you.
-
it's odd...it only happens when I quote someone.
-
I think it's a conspiracy.
-
It seems to be. Likely stems from the NBR Bathrooom Attendant.
-
Once they get you back into the asylum everything will be fine.
-
yeah, the nbr bathroom attendant was making face's at the girl wanting this dook fellow...who ever that might be....hummmmmm

It's definitely the Bathroom Attendant. The creepy a$shat. And he looks exactly like that guy in diablos pic!! Now that you mention it, diablo, why do you have a pic of me?
And OHH yes, the girl in my Avy. Leelee Sobieski. I'm totally gonna have her children. -
No comment necessary!
But to stay on topic, I wonder if she bought a 7811 or worries about the replacement there of?
