Those eyes man!

I hopped onto gateway's site and I noticed they are now down to only one FX laptop for sale. The new FX Desktop dropped today, so I have a feeling (hope) we'll be seeing new FX laptops drop this week.
-
-
wooohoooooo!
-
-
wow.. great headlit.....erm, great eyes. They can shine some light, wait.. I meant her eyes can definately be intriguing.
-
fascinating discussion on the eyes. but back on topic. BB has listed an acer with a 9800m GS. i thought there was just GTS, GT, GTX.. and a 15.6 size ?? 7811 also listed as outlet item. methinks wait a week or so for newer models.
-
outlset item eh? Can I say, I told you so?
didnt see the 9800m gs there, but Asus has one.. likely 48 shaders..or even 32.. nice finds for you tho. +rep
-
A 9700M GTS is G94-based, so there's no reason to believe a 9800M GS still wouldn't be G94-based.
-
toshiba also has a x305 listed on its website for $1999 with a 9800gts. going to bed now. search around guys . nothing less then a 9800 gts will do. yeehaw.
-
I love this word and plan to use it often:
-
Every x305 only has a 1440x900 display, too.
EDIT: Nevermind, seems the new one DOES have the 9800M GTS. The website claims SLI 9700s, but the "Learn More" link shows a 9800. =/ -

wait a minute, now i notice 9800gts in SLI. so makes it much better for the price and justifies the size. although, 1440x900 and SLI ?? kinda defeats the purpose. -

Do Want
This is ugly though. But without the gateway... -
best buy is now listing the 7811fx as an outlet item.
Just in time for me to be tempted by the macbook pro, asus saves the day once again -
Well things are at least getting very interesting. Some questions I guess....
Should we really be expecting a new FX model? I mean it seems that the general forum public was pretty much taken by surprise at the decission to remove the 7811. Why should we now expect a replacement? Wasn't the 7811 known about for a good amount of time prior to its arrival? Shouldn't we then expect some buzz well before a street appearance if there is a replacement?
Also this new Asus that has appeared on BBs site. Was this a known about and anticipated addition? If not then it very well could lend credence to a "surprise" FX model resurgence.
I couldn't find anything on a 9800GS card, not on nvidia's site etc. How does it compare to the 9800GTS? Is it just a misprint on the site and should be a GTS?
Anyone care to comment with regards to the new Asus as it pertains to the 7811. Still a far cry from a 7811 or a step in the right direction? -
Usually there is an announcement about a new machine before they drop a line completely, but maybe gateway is going to let ASUS handle the gaming side of things while they (gateway) move to the more consumer friendly notebooks (speculation of course).
-
Gateway is owned by Acer, not Asus.
-
Those 9800m GTS in SLI would fruckin rock the house! My GTS is smoking GTXs when it's OC'd.. MMMMMmmmmmm... GTS SLI. Too bad I got some ATI crossfire BS comin

Hmm, indeed, what is ASUS G50Vt-X1 now available at BB stores? Seems like quite a good package for 1250 $. The display could be better, but if 9800 GS is even close to 9800 GTS in performance, it seems like a good package. Especially, since the package is only 15.6"...
But how the 9800 GS is compared to 9800 GTS? Could not find any info of the card and its not even listed on Nvidia site. Typing error on BB website?
EDIT: Found this thread on the matter:

Seems like there is actually 9800 GS GPU after all:

I'd email Toshiba support and ask them if their screen connectors for their laptops are proprietary. The reason being that if worse came to worse you could always swap out the screen for a 1920x1200 and just swap it back if anything ever went bad with the laptop.

-
hows your new rig john ?
-
-
-
Well im sure once E- gets it, we will hear more then we can possibly imagine about it ,and i cant wait .
-
exactly! we will get the real deal from him.
-
-
Hear yee! Hear yee! I'm still waiting..
But, I'm prolly not gonna be dressed up like that for the next 4 days..expect a different outfit when I start tooting my own horn, or ringing my oversized bell.
-
Wait I just bought mine two weeks ago, should I exchange it? Is it defective since they are discontinued?
-
the 7811FX rocks man..enjoy it
-
-
why replace unless its defective. its the best package for any price. except for the random lock-ups. and BB employees acting like jerk offs. toshiba is SLI 9800m gts BUT low rez. screen, huge lappy and for $1999. plus its gonna get hot for sure. aus is the 9800m 'GS' and smaller low rez. screen. let's wait a bit for a worthy replacement.
-
Man. All these Gateway swaps and trades are giving me gas.
-
Gas can be a good thing at times, especially when no one else is around
.
-
lol. Indeed it can.
-
Dook, wanna buy mine? I have 2
-
lol. I think Ill pass. You should donate both to NAMBLA.

hi all, just picked up an 7811-fx (2888) at best buy for 1159usd!! had to hunt around for the 2888 serial they mostly had 2887's so tried a different store and they had it. The first store had them on clearance for 1159usd and it was a bit of an effort to get the second store to use the price!
Very please with this machine!
