Personal preference, mainly. Some people feel that LG is superior to AUO, but the quality of both vary.

Don't feel too bad, a lot of people are going to end up with WXGA. You can always sell yours and buy one with WUXGA if you care about it that much (don't wait too long though). But, look on the bright side, you do have the current version... ;)

    Same here!

But I have 3 with the same exact batch number: I002717

LG 1920x1200 confirmed by both of us.

I am selling two of them... I just have to re-post because my photo did not include a piece of paper with my name on it.

I just called my local Best Buy and there holding one for me.
I asked the guy on the phone if he could give me the batch number so he did.

It's I002510 does anyone know if that will be the 1920x1200 Res.?

Should be a 1920x1200 by all accounts, lowest batch seen with a 1440 was like I007XXX

Crapshoot there, might have a better shot at being an LG since 2509 was an LG batch. Honestly though I have the AUO model and find no fault with it at all.

    Greetings, folks!

Hey, could someone kindly inform me as to *exactly where* on the box I should be looking for the batch number?

I just got back from a BB store and couldn't, for the life of me, find anything, anywhere on the box beginning with an "H" or an "I". The store has 2 in stock with both boxes located on the floor directly below the display model. I was able to confirm that the display model was 1920x1200 but (obviously) have no clue about the new-in-box units underneath it.

    Thanks!

There's a sticker on the box, usually on the side and in the upper right hand corner is where the batch number is.

Thanks for the quick response, jeremy! :)

I'll have to take a trip back there tonight and look again. Still, it's tough for me to believe I wasn't able to find that sticker since I thought I had pretty much scoured every square inch of the box (fingers crossed that the folks at the local BB didn't peel off the stickers after becoming wise to this issue).

I happened to notice that one box had an SNID that was numerically much lower than that printed on the other box. However, I have no idea whether the SNIDs would be sequential or just random.

    Anyway, thanks again!

Here's a pic of the sticker. It should be somewhere on the box. See the batch # in the upper right?

Thanks, yet again, jeremy! Just got back and can't believe I missed the entire sticker on two different boxes earlier. But, FWIW, the stickers are now orange, at least they were on both of the boxes in my local BB.

Regardless, the batch number was the same; a rather disappointing (or perhaps not?) I014080. Guess I'll have to wait for more information to come in on that batch number *or* wait for BB to put them on sale again.

This is a birthday gift for my son and his birthday is still several weeks away. I just thought I'd grab one quick if I could get one of the last of the higher res screens and they were going with the lower res screens from here on out.

I014080 is a pretty high batch number. Your odds are pretty high for getting the 1440x900 screen. However, that's not necessarily bad. If your son is more of a gamer than a Photoshopper, then the lower res will actually be better for framerates.

Thanks for the feedback and I suspect you nailed it since he definitely will be doing more gaming than using it for any other single purpose. I know he's getting tired of hauling his desktop to LAN parties and that thing, even after some h/w upgrades, is getting a little long in the tooth anyway.

That or take it out the bottom of the box was suggested by someone, though that looks like a pain, the seal on mine was barely on so i just slowly and carefully peeled it off working my way from the outer edge in all the way around.

How is that? No one knows for sure what is going on, but his batch number is higher than jeremyp111 (above), who got a WXGA, and this guy got a WUXGA. How is he wrong, based on that? Plus, his batch number is pretty high, so it's a later date unit.

All speculation. I don't think there is any positive logic here that actually determines which display you're going to get. BUT, far more people are still getting WUXGA than WXGA, wouldn't you say?

I had a westinghouse 19" widescreen for a couple years at work, gamma out of the box was garbage and it wasn't the greatest panel (my 225BW Samsung looks way better) but for the price I paid to get it (130 bucks 3 or so years ago) I couldn't argue with it at all.

    MFG 12/17/08
    1440 x 900 screen =(

I've been calling the best buys, none of the employees have an idea what I am talking about. Unfortunately, I bought this before reading this thread because I needed a replacement for work. Luckily, I undid the tape cleanly and can repack it. Some of the stores say they don't even have batch number stickers on there anymore... maybe they are just clueless.

So, to sum up (sparse information, notwithstanding), we have two posts re batch numbers starting with I012 and I013, both of which have 1440 screens. We also have (by my count) three posts re batch numbers starting with I014, all of which are 1920.

Not saying, in any way, shape or form, that any conclusions can be drawn from that but it is certainly interesting.

I picked up the display model with the LG Display at 1920x1200 at the BB in Seattle but I didn't get the box so I don't know the batch number. Would have loved to contribute to this. 1920x1200 on this looks amazing.
