Well guys, after my long search for a laptop bag I've found myself back to my original decision of a tom bihn bag. I ordered my horizontal brain cell for it and as soon as it arrives I'll take some pics and post them. The employees at tom bihn couldn't guarantee a perfect fit but I'll take my chances.

I owned that bag for about a week before I returned it. I really liked the bag and how the p6831 fit, problem is I hated the shoulder strap. It felt like it was going to rip my arm out of my socket. I don't if the bag was just too heavy or not but I was getting very sore quickly.

I received in the mail today my Tom Bihn horizontal brain cell for my P-6831fx and am happy to say that it fits! Hopefully I'll have some more time tomorrow and post pics of it. But for now, I need to study for midterms.

Ok my Booq Boa Slimcase XXL has arrived and it's a really well made bag - definitely worth the money. Colours exactly match the lappy too :)

Going to test the fit now and will report back (inside dimensions were 0.5" too small length wise).

Did anyone purchase the Belkin Messenger Bag or Slim Back Pack for this laptop? I like both of them and would like confirmation on if the laptop will fit in one with the battery removed.

I bought a Slappa Spyder Backpack for my P-171x fx, and got a great deal $49.99. I was surfing the web a few week ago, and ran into a posting about Slappa Spyder's poor quality. The president of Slappa responded to the post personally, admitted their where some problems with the first model (only in extreme conditions and said he would make tings right with anyone with a problem. So I email Dominick, the President of Slappa, I told him I had no problems with my backpack but was concerned about it holding up. I bought mine off of a discount website and have the early model (still nice and durable). He answered my questions and give me a huge discount on a new model. I just wanted to let everyone know what a great company Slappa is, just for the fact they actually care about customer service.

I have the belkin messenger bag and the P6831 fits like a glove with battery in the laptop. I used to have a Samsonite backpack but the battery made it too wide.

I ended up getting the Slappa Velocity Pro Spyder 17" (V1), for $35.95 + $4.95 shipping. V1 vs V2 aside, I'm very happy with the quality of the bag vs others in the same price range.

    Mezzi XXT!!!

    Finally!!!

An aluminum hard case big enough for not only my FX but all the other crap that tags along...

Paid less than $50.00 off ebay.

It's no Hallaburton... Neither is the price.
But then again o'l Hal don't build them this big.

Your choice black 'mine', or natural... If only they had the wood in the XXT size....

Allthough I got it, My do over would be to skip their pluck foam and go completely custom on the interior padding...

Not a paid endorsement but an avarage Joe's 2 cents.

I got my Belkin Messenger Bag for 17" notebooks, it fits perfectly with the battery in it and I like it more than any other laptop bag I've ever seen or used.

I can use it as a briefcase with the handle or as a messenger bag with the shoulder strap.

I second that. How does the Targus XL fit and is it worth the money? I'm also looking at the Swiss Gear Ibex. Seems like a really nice bag. Anyone own one?

Although its not a backpack..I have been extremely happy with the Targus 17" Laptop case I got for my 6860Fx.

    http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=CPT400

Fits everything nicely and safely...including a Zalman NC2000 Laptop Cooler...with room to spare for misc stuff.

I would guess their backpacks would be equally as good.

Went to BB at lunch and they had both the Targus XL and Swiss Gear Ibex in stock. Didn't have long to look at them, but I came away thinking I'll go with the Swiss Gear (Wenger). The material on the Targus is a strong nylon, while the Ibex is more of a dense fabric. It says polyester, but to me it compares to a canvas. Both bags are large, and I can't really see an FX not fitting in either one. Overall, I would take either one and be happy, but I'll probably go Ibex.

I promised a long time ago to post pics of the the Tom Bihn 2XL horizontal brain cell ( http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/PROD/300/TB0300). Here they are. This case will fit the P-6831fx with one slight adjustment.

This is a pic of the front pocket of the brain cell, it can easily fit a mouse and power supply and still have room for folders.

This is a pic of the absolute shoulder strap sold separately by Tom Bihn for $30. Very expensive but very very comfortable.

This is the sling that the laptop is suspended in the bag with.

The sling pulled completely out of the case.

The sling in the case is adjustable and must be adjusted for a large laptop in this instance my P6831fx. This will decrease the suspension effect that the brain cell is known for but is necessary to fit the laptop with the battery attached.

The laptop will sit almost perfectly flush in the case with the battery still attached.

The brain cells are made to carry on their own or can be put into a larger bag. The 2XL horizontal brain cell is the largest of all the brain cells and can only fit in the super ego messenger bag ( http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/PROD/300/TB0825). They come in multiple colors to choose from. I'm hopefully soon going to get one, they have it in black/black/cayenne. Cayenne looks like the exact same burnt orange colored that our laptops have. Here are some pics of the bag.

Can you guys clarify the differences with the two versions of the Slappa Spyder? I'm still kind of confused on this.

Which version is the newer "better" version and how do you distinguish it from the other version? I believe Lights mentioned the SKU but sometimes that's not always listed plus the Slappa site lists SKUs ending in -19B, -19C, -26, and -26C. So my question is: wot is wot?

The Targus XL backpack is plenty large enough for the laptop and just about anything else you want to try to fit in it. However, I would not advise to put to many heavy books, materials along with all accessories since the part where the strap meets the body is already starting to tear on mine. If you put mostly accessories should be fine though=']

The Difference between the older and newer Slappa Backpack is how the shoulder straps are attached to the bag. The older version the straps are attached separately to the top about 2 1/2" one each, the newer one the whole top is attached about 10" to 12". The older one is made from "Scuba Gear" type material, the new is more of a tougher material kinda like leather. I am happy with both versions, the old you can buy on many sites for around $39.99, the new buy direct at slappa.com for $99.99

You can email Slappa and tell them you found out about them of this fourm, and you maybe able to get a discount, from what I have seen the cheaper bags from ebay and discount sellers are the older versions. They are both nice bags, you can probubly get the newer version for around $70.00.

Crazy Jay, Thanks for recommending the Slappa, I got mine right before I went back to Singapore and it worked perfectly!

Held my FX6831, and my company hp without one problem, it is comfortable and light weight for how well it's built.

    thanks again.
