    Already on the case :)

So 9c.10.00 works ok - that's great news.

Did you use the .WPH file and phlash16 or the Winflash version?

Houndx did you test the 32 or 64-bit Winflasher?

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=404706

Second or third page there is a modded DOS flash, you'll need something to boot into DOS with. If you have Nero you can just create a bootable CD and put all the files on the CD, then you just run the .bat file from the prompt. I have a bootable DOS thumb drive I use for repairs, was able to just boot to that.

Why do i need to flash it under DOS? It's an .exe file, like other bioses! Don't understand...

For me it just does not work in the OS, plus DOS based flashes are a lot safer, less going on in the background that could make things go horribly, horribly wrong. You don't want a $1k paperweight, do you?

Ofc not, but so far it has worked for me, through OS i mean. I'll give those a try. Does anybody know, whats improved in that bios for stock P7811-FX?

E: Updated the bios today. Used .exe in Win 7 x64. Worked fine. And still is running.

So, will this .17 bios support the 44W Intel Core2Extreme Quad Q9100 ?

Did anybody try a quad with this bios. Frankly reports of some cpu perform better with this bios are encouraging.

owner of a p7805u here. I have searched around on this and other forums, etc.. trying to find out some detail about the esata port on these machines... seems clear it does not have port multiplier support (i.e. support for multiple esata drives attached) - it seems only to see the first drive in a multiple drive enclosure.. port multiplier support is required in order to see multiple drives on the esata port, and I guess these don't have it. Does anyone know of threads or etc.. where I can find out if it's even possible via bios update or whatever to get multiple drive support from the esata port on the p7805, or just SOL completely? Thanks and sorry if this is the wrong place, but I did search and came up way short trying to find discussions about the esata port and it's potential or lack thereof.

Cheers and thanks in all cases

As far as i know there is no way to get the eSATA to recognize a multipule drive configuration unless the enclosure itself contains an internal RAID controller that will manage it for the computer.

    Does kinda suck though :(

I used a Sumvision TB32 in JBOD mode and it worked fine. Two separate drives were visible via the eSATA.

That was on a 6831 though thinking about it. I didn't try it on my 7805u.

Do you know or think that the .17 bios support (quadcore) Q9100 ?

No there is something different between the quad core motherboards and the standard dual core supposedly.

Would be good if a quad core user could dump their bios so we can check if it is indeed identical.

Thanks again for all the GREAT work you do here!!!!

I'm not sure if it was ever confirmed or not, but the only owner of the 7802 (i think that was the quad version) said that the socket was actually different for the quad.

Not sure what exactly he said was different (i've deleted my PM's since then) but i'll try to scour back through the forum to see if we talked about it on his thread. If i remember correctly he had .12 BIOS on his rig though.

What is the current pick for a hard drive upgrade in the 7811? My friend's birthday is coming up, and I was wondering what would be a good one to get. I was thinking of getting him a PC game, but seeing as how thats 50 bucks, spending another 10 on a hard drive he would get way more use out of it. He is always trying to get rid of games to make space for new ones, so that would get completely rid of that issue.

Wrong place for this as off topic but a good drive is more than $60.00 Personally for a second drive on my P-7805u I went with a 500 GB WD Blue. Runs nice and cool with lots of space and pretty good transfer numbers for a 5400 RPM drive..............

Off-topic: you can get 2500GB, 320GB and maybe the 400GB drives for around $60. I would just match the drive that he has for a cheap Raid 0, then again that is just me :D

I have gotten the issue when the lappy freezes and the sound sticks/loops... one day I opened the bottom took out the heat sink and cleaned it with an air can and a towl, applied ICD7 to the CPU, blew the dust out of both fans & air intakes and exhaust + I also switched Vid drivers that day.
Ever since that day in february I havnt had a lock-up.
(Around once a month I open up the lappy and do a routine cleanning)

I believe your bios is the 9c.17.00 which supports quad core chip. Apparently, the difference between the 7808/7809 and the 7805 is in the MB or the heatsink.

I don't think there is an effective way to dump the bios although many have tried to do it.

Anyway let us know if your bios is different than 9c.17.00.

Well it obviously does on the 7808 Moto (even if there are differences with the MB and heatsink).

Steps for dumping your BIOS are a few pages back in this thread:

    @IATA,

Thanks for the instructions. I did not realize we can do that successfully. Had I known that I would have downloaded my original 7805 firmware. There is something strange about the 9c.17.00 firmware on my machine. After successfully upgraded to it and running for a few days, suddenly, my windows vista 64 is not a genuine (sp?) version although it was the original version which came with my laptop when I bought it.

After reactivating vista then everything is fine, but a few moments I thought I had a virus or trojan.

Do you know why my 7805 does not support the Q9000?

Did you use the 9C.17.00 BIOS that I posted a few pages back?

If so that's why your Vista deactivated itself.

I have a simple fix I can give you - let me know.

The 7805 supposedly has a different motherboard to the quad core FX.

Yep. I used the 9C.17.00 you posted. No problem with reactivation so far, just surprised me that's all. Thanks for the fix offer, but there is no need since I am not about to mess with it again.

With the advent of new mobile quads from Intel in a few weeks the Q9000 is obsolete anyway so it's a moot point that the 7805 cannot run the Q9000. Frankly, there is no ROI here.
