hah.. Did you go RAID?
-
What you gunna do with your 6831?
Bet it will be hard to part after spending all that quality time benchmarking
-
Don't have the HD's yet ... but flashed.
-
Ok..so I flashed 9c.10.00, just to see if it would allow me to OC the CPU. The answer is no, it doesnt. However, it's now loaded..and it seems fine. BIOS still supports RAID, etc. I'll run some benchmarks tomorrow to test the system temps, etc. But, yea.. here's the screen shot of the BIOS.
I'll report back.. laters.
I see.. So you sure it works? ;P thanks for the manly touch to the avie, btw. I'm out for the night.. Have a good one. Ya should try the newer BIOS, 9c.10.00
-
so where is the raid option at this new bios ? i did not find it though. and the cpu fan seems spin more at this new bios ,is it normal ?
-
if you have 2 hard drives installed then you will see something that says ahci and if go to that option and click enter youll see IDE AHCI and RAID.
i have noticed my fans moving alot more when i was using my laptop on my lap i can feel them pulsing alot more then they use to but as far as im concerned thats a good thing but everyone may not like it. -
i already went up to a 6860. lol
-
Ok, so the raid won't be functional if I only got 1 Hardriver right ?
well ,let's see , it just giong to be a little nosie at this new bios ,but when winter comes , i think it should be fine .considering the room temp -
Well john if you decide to go to the darkside and you want to part with your CPU on your departure lemme know .
-
you know...i was just thinking about that stuff.... because i have a t9300 and my x9000
-
john, make the leap! c'mon..be one of the cool guys with the 7811
dude, it's on sale today for only 1249 and returns to normal price tomorrow. Heck, maybe you can go to one of my Best Buys and get extra $$ off one of the open box items that I left em with.
-
hey everyone, i just bought my 7811 fx last night, from bestbuy in amherst ny, and it shipped with the 9C.08 bios, and indeed, once i stuck my 2nd harddrive in there, in the harddrive option within the bios, the RAID function became available. so its IDE, AHCI, and RAID, which then launches the Intel Matrix Storage Manager bootrom, and allows you to configure a raid volume either Raid 0/1 with a maximum stripe size of 128kb.
love it!
everythign else seems to be great so far! i was really impressed with the few bloatware programs they had installed, shipped with nvidia 175.80 x64 driver.
and the elpida ddr3 sodimms in here have an SPD rating up to 610mhz, (from 533) so i'm going to try to overclock when i get a chance!
great! love it! wooo! -

-
LOL ... Dook can dish it out and take it Mr. E ... We're all cool ... Group Hug.
-
Congrats! And welcome to the family
-
have u tried this bios on your 6860? -
I am interested in hearing if someone can run the 128 stripe with smooth operation. Or is everyone herky jerky like mista and E? (awaiting HD's)
-
Like I posted in another thread, I'm going to partition, I've done a few weeks of research on this:
2 Partitions -
1) OS - 15GB - 4kb cluster, 16kb stripe
2) Games/Media/Other - 32kb cluster, 128kb stripe
it could fix your jerkiness.... but I'm going to say it's likely that the jerkiness is superfetch learning your habits (aka it's something that will subside with time), or maybe i'm talking out of my a55 -
but of course i have...and it wont take...lol
-
OK now see there, you learn something new every day. I did not know you could run different stripe sizes on the same RAID-0 Array in different partitions!!!
Have you actually done this? Or maybe I am not reading you correctly. -
yep, you sure can. along with changing the cluster size to match
-
Well hot dog, I've always just set a stripe and lived with it throughout all partitions. That's comin' to an end here and now.
-
Flashed succesfully in XP 32-bit. Just DL the 32-bit package and run the .exe inside the folder. The programming portion takes about 2 min and then it will reboot. Don't get worried if it takes awhile.
-
well...looking at my shinny new 7811 and my bios seems to be............................................ the correct version...*LOL*
-
john? You did it eh?! Bout time you became cool
Welcome to the club
-
Congrats John
-
yeah. i was on the fence for the longest. on day one of my 14 day trial with 15% restocking fee now...rotflmao!!
edit: thanks fellas!
edit: all i pulled out the box was the computer. no battery or power cord. -
Lol ya i figured that was coming next with the 14day thing
Toss that x9000 in there asap lemme know how it runs . thats if you havent already that is. -
it just pulled a 8732 out the box with stock driver/stock cpu/and 3dmark only.
that will be next.
-
It's a great system.. lemme know how that TZS0 treats you.
-
Funny cause after i upgraded the bios i ran mercs2s for hours and never got it to hit that mysterious 98 throttle and im not undervolting atm either. not sure if it was addressed in the bios or not .
-
yes...but E is running a x9100 so that might have something to do with it...unless you have one as well?? you looking to off it?? *LOL*
edit: and im watching that sensor ...it's chillin' at 62 right now -
john...drop that x9000 in there and oc the gpu to my clocks.. run 3dmark and watch the fps throttle with the cpu.
-
lol no xtreme cpu yet but i could hit the 98 on the TZSO on 2 games i have and it wasnt hard to do .
I may pull the trigger soon and grab a x9000 on flea bay till the quads hit if i decide to go down that path . 1k for the qx9300 is abit hard to swallow though for just a CPU . -
So E as long as you undervolt still it wont throttle correct ?.
-
undervolting fixes it..but i lose the 11.5 multiplier and it sets at 11.0. Nothing to complain about, except cuts my benchmarks a lil
-
you know me...im gonna be on this one here, buddy... trying to find a fix.
edit: just pulled a 7037 at 1920x1200 -
john, been workin on this one...
waiting on new nhc monitor..
Quad: added bios versions to OP. -
Thank you sir.
-
Hi all! Just got this laptop two weeks ago, found this forum and have been watching intently. Just wanted to say thanks to all for this thread. 2nd HD the on way!Ya'll Rock!!!
-
Just rep us
And welcome!
-
well E, i think it likes me so far...still holding at tzs01/02 62c's and clocks are 700/1000/1800 gpu temp 76c's.
-
x9000 or stock cpu?
-
still running stock everything.
-
just wait til the x9000 drops in
-
yeah, that's what i was already thinking. that test produced a 9541.
