Fn+PrtSc has worked for me, haven't messed with the other keys.

What are you trying to do, take a screen shot?

    @SSWilson,

I just figured it out. I tried to paste into the Vista Photo app and it did not work. Used Paint and it's OK.

You are great. Thanks for the quick response. I was awake most of the night and was hazy and stupid!!

My only gripe about this thing is the viewing angle... It's absolutely horrible. I have one of the wxga+ screens and I can be looking at it straight on, and blacks look like grey

Almost all notebooks use "TN" type LCD panels which have very poor viewing angles. TN panels are less expensive and have good response time...perfect for gaming. Better desktop LCDs use "VA" and "IPS" type panels. So it's a tradeoff.

I bought this one at BestBuy. A top loader case and the p-7805u fits nicely. Don't slide it in from the top with slippery hands, though.

I use notebook backpacks and when I got the 7811 I had no notebook bag/backpack (some for 17") that could fit the 7811 (same size as 1705). I ended up having to get a new backpack Targus 17" XL.

You just answered the question i was about to ask about that particular notebook case. Yeah the P-7805 plastic body content do make it slippery. But its looks do deceive most of us. LOL.

    Hi gang,

Just picked up one of the 7805Us two days ago. So far I love it. Got the 1920x1200 version. Took some getting used to the smaller fonts. :)
Question I have is that the HD indicator light seems to blink continously, even when just idle. Is that normal behavior? Is there some setting I need to change?
Thanks for your time and advice.

Did you delete the bloatware? Check and see whats running.. Also start the task manager and go to "Performance". See how much GB your using of your RAM. Mainly when Idle I'm using 1.1gig

Update: Installed dox's newest drivers and got about a 187point increase in 3Dmark06. Gonna run some benchmarks on games.
Sadly I got the "Fatal error: WS10" with GTAIV so I have to reinstall it when I've got time. So can't get benches on that right now :\
Also, do you guys know if when you reinstall GTAIV, is your saved offline game still there or am I going to have to start from the beginning of the game again?

I uninstalled some of the crap that it allowed me too. I checked Performance, I am using 1.14gig when idle.
My HD flickers every second or so, its not a constant ON light, but it keeps "tic"ing.
My fans also go on quite often for short bursts, even idle. Temps are all in normal ranges when checking with the Nvidia Monitor tool.

Go to your games menu, right click on the game icon and go to game saves, back those up so when you reinstall you can just open it up again and drop your saves in.

The short burst of air is common on all of our computers.
My HDD light is always flashing because I'm always playing music and everything. I say if its not slowing down your performance, don't worry about it.

You mean the the folder that GTAIV is in?
I uninstalled GTAIV already.. And when I was uninstalling it asked "Would you like to delete all save files too?" And I said no.. But where do I find those saved files now?

    C:\Users\(YOUR USER NAME HERE)\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames

This is the location in Vista.

If you had the game installed and you want to copy, move or back-up the game save you can go to the Vista Games console and simply right-click the game in question and you'll see an option for Game Saves (take you right to the folder), but this does not work with every game. The only two that I have that currently support this are Call of Duty World at War and GTA IV.

I have a problem which piques my curiosity and annoys me to no end.

I cleaned up a bunch of stuff with Revu Uninstaller, deleted a few junk files. And now I cannot burn a factory recovery dvd.

The prompt calls for the dvd insert, then system hangs. The only way to remove the dvd is to remove the battery and power plug and reboot.

I tried several dvd brands, and I am certain it's not the dvd as I have both dvd+r and dvd-r in different brands. Moved pagefiles to the D: drive, hope that's not the problem. Stop a bunch of autostarts with Revo. May be that was the problem. I did enable all the auto start so that's not it.

Specifically, does anyone have any idea what program is doing this, i.e. what are the files needed for it to work?

Acronis 11 and Nero 8 were installed.

The laptop is running fine and I was able to download all the drivers from gateway in addition to make the APPDRV cds with the Gateway program.

I do have vista discs around so with the product key in the back, I guess I am ok.

    :(

Thanks for the help. Seems I dont have an AppData folder in there for some reason.. But I do have a "Savedgames" Folder which goes like this... c:\Users\name here\savegames\Microsoft Games.

And thats empty.. So I'm guessing it got deleted >.<

Nobody would happen to have a save file thats right around the mission called "Final Interview" would you? Its about 28% percent through the game or something like that.

Aren't you able to restart by holding down the power button for a few seconds to get the system to power down and then power on to remove the drive instead of taking off the power plug and battery ?
My advice do not experiment on new laptops when its running smooth, coz if something goes wrong your hearts gonna break. lol. Especially performance wise. Happened to me a couple of days back.

Yeah, napster, Norton 360, Netzero junk, Office trial, etc. (if you havent deleted norton, it mayb e the cause of your high memory being used during idle).
I haven't tinkered with the startup yet. Just made sure all the stuff that I've installed isn't set to start on startup. Aim, Yahoo, Etc.

Control panel - Uinstall a Program <-- That'll be under the "Programs" list on the right, right above Mobile PC at the bottom left. (This is on Control Panel Home, not Classic view)
Than just look for Napster and Net Zero in there and right click, Click uninstall.

Yeah, the first time you install them, they do.

Instructions: (Bare with me, I'm eating a sandwhich lol)
    1) Right click on "Computer" in the start menu.
    2) Click Properties.
    3) Click "Device Manager" on the left.
    4) Press the + sign next to Display Adapters.
    5) Double Click NVIDIA Geforce 9800M GTS (blah blah blah)
    6) Click the driver tab on the top.
    7) Click "Update Driver".
    8) Choose "Browse My Computer for Driver Software"
    9) Choose "Let Me Pick From a List of devices on my computer"
    10) Click "Have Disk"
    11) Click Browse.
    12) Go to OS (C:
    13) Look for something like Vista64_Dox_18120 and click it.(The numbers at the end depend on which drivers your installing).
    14) Click Bal.
    15) Click Ok.
    16) Find 9800M GTS in the list.

You should be able to do it from there yourself.
Let me know if you have any problems.

EDIT: Make sure you've uninstalled the old drivers before this....

My old notebook had an amazing panel. Great color, great viewing angles. Better than the samsung monitor I use for my desktop... Should have taken it out before I sold it :p

That aside, what are some programs that actually work for undervolting? I tried RMclock but that digital signing nonsense in vista 64 is stopping it from working.

Those 2 have to be deleted from the program files manually. from the start menu shortcut (both net zero and earth link) - right click - properties find the target folders and delete them manually. Also don't forget to delete the shortcuts. i guess they are not installed programs instead just copied with annoying shortcuts lying in start menu and at times on desktop.

It lets you select which programs you want to remove. Just check the box's next to the program you do not want any more, it's not perfect, but try it.

So I finished Crysis warhead on this laptop... with kinda low res and all "Gamer" settings...

And boy was it a slideshow! (11-25 fps... mostly 13fps on the final stage)

I bought this cuz ppl were claiming they could run crysis or whatever comfortably... but that isn't the case. (Using Dox's 181.20 drivers)

:/ Hope it runs killzone 2 when it comes out for the PC (PFFFFT..)

These crapware fellows like screwing us around trying to remove their sh_t. No single program can get rid all these. I tried removing Bit torrent which didnt at all inspite of me trying pc decrapifier and the windows uninstaller. finally i got it out using cc cleaner. Makes us go nuts at times. :-( It obviously has to do with the ad stuffs most of the s/w companies try cashing on which makes a mess of our registry and stuffs

I ran 3dmark 2006 (free one, so you can't change the settings) and got a score of 8799 (Dox's 181.20 driver, no overclocking).

Not sure how that stacks up to everyone else's 7805u, but it's definitely not good enough to play though crysis warhead on "gamer" (= high in original crysis) setting (with low resolution) all the way through.
