I don't know how to see the fps, or even play it, but I DL'd the 10 day trial of WoW and can say the first world as I entered it with like 12 people running around was liquid smooth at 1920x1200.
Edit: I just ran through a world with other players just to get killed. worked fine, again liquid smooth adn of course I died pretty quickly.............
-
-
Yep, had the latest driver, the temperature remained in the upper-40s, I had the power plan set to high performance and the unit was plugged in....
I am going to try a few more things this morning and if it does not work back to Best Buy with the unit and I will suck up the restocking fee.
TANWare -- Must be nice.
I guess I am unlucky and got two consequetive bad units which if that is the case does not say much for the QA process. To check the fps in WoW all you need to do is slide the cursor over the little computer icon ver the button at the bottom while you are moving. I already restored the computer and loaded up the game a second time and still I clunk along at 8 fps.
-
Ok in the 10 day demo found out how to watch the FPS, I ran through again and never saw under 90 FPS with 1920x1200 24 bit 1x sample no triple buffer and at times over 190 FPS. I now have yet another death too......
Edit: I do have a P9600 in here though
2nd Edit: 8 FPS sounds like it isn't hardware accelerated. did you accidentally get 32bit DX in there? Temp for the GPU should have gone above the 40's............... -
I tried windowed mode and saw high 50's low 60's for the GPU.............
Edit: Adding screen shots..............
-
@BigAlinCa, what are you getting as 3dmark06 score?
-
odd, I get between 80 and anywhere up to 180 fps depending on how mant characters are on screen
-
ok ... I dl'd sdmark06 and just ran the basic version of it as I have never used this program before. I did purchase a registration code so I will run the program again and post those results. Anyway, here are the results from running the basic test. While I was watching the tests being run the frame rate did not go over 10 fps the entire time... I really hate uploading pics but for some reason the link to the results I had posted here was not showing the results. I hope this info is sufficient...
To the guys that have the game running properly - did you do anything special? As I stated I loaded this game on a stock machine without changing anything. -
I'm not getting the result...........
You should see well over 10 fps............ -
Yeah ... for some reason the link no longer shows the results. I am assuming they only save them there for so long? Anyway, I posted a screenshot of the results. This was run at res of 1280x720 since that was the only option of the basic program. I am sure the results will be worse when run at 1440x900...
-
Yeah that's a terrible score for this machine, I got a 9800 in WinXP with the GPU overclocked and the lowest all stock scores in vista are around 8900. What drivers are you using for the video card? Also have you checked the cpu usage etc in task manager? If there's something wrong with it you shouldn't be paying a restocking fee either, if you decide to return it just take it in with a WoW demo or something on it and show them how abysmally it runs.
-
Hey all was just wondering if undervolting defeats the purpose of overclockin. And when i over clock will Rightmark CPU clock utility still say 2.26Ghz in the system tray or should that go up.
-
You can't overclock the CPU in these machines, only the GPU. Also RMClock doesnt support .5 multipliers so your chip will actually run at 2.13ghz when its running. You can try Crystal CPUID instead to undervolt though, it does support .5 multipliers.
-
something wrong all scores are off.........
Have you tried DXDIAG?
-
This thread would be easier to post in if someone hadn't posted 1920x1200 screen shots (cough)TANWare(cough)... But the CPU score on your run and his are very close considering that you have a p9600, so I'd say he has a GPU issue, driver or with the gpu itself.
-
I currently have 185.2 loaded and the CPU load fluctuates from 1-10% when idling. I get the same result no matter what version of drivers I am using.
-
Thanks Big Mike. Is there actually any benfiet to undervolting. And my settings for overclocking the GPU are 720,950,1800. Any isight on wether those are decent. Not being able to overclock the CPU would explain why there's no option in the bios. Is there any way to overclock or would i have to upgrade. ty in advance
-
Sorry about the big graphic, wanted to show him something wrong if he only sees 40c or so on the graphic card. It looks like for some reason his CPU rather than GPU is running direct x.....
-
Hmm does anyone have a little guide for someone (like myself) thats never installed a hard drive before? Possibly some pictures and step by step's?
Thanks fellas. -
I don't know if there is a guide on the forum but you can look at page 102 of your P-7805u FX manual for instructions.
-
I just installed a new 320gb hd in my 7805. So here are a few tips:
1. take out battery
2. remove hd back cover. see manual if you do not know which one.
3. there is a space besides the factory hd, remove that bracket.
4. you will need hd screws (4) 2 will do but I used 4. those are the notebook hd screws not the desktop screws. screws do not come with hd oem from newegg.
5. assemble the hd and the bracket.
6. slide them in and screw in the bracket screws.
7. reinstall the cover
8. you are done.
-
Thanks both of you.
Another question:
After I install it psychically, is there anything I have to do once I turn the notebook back on? Is it as easy as just turning it on and it already being read as a hard drive there and I can start saving on it? Or is there a setup of some type? -
If you just want to use it as a second drive you will need to set it up in windows.
Go to Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Computer management -> Disk Management
Once there you will see the disks on your system. Your new disk should say "Unallocated Space" or something similar. Select that and choose to setup a new simple volume and just follow the prompts, once completed your new disk will be ready to use.
If you want raid then there are other steps you will need to follow, look at page 52 in your manual for a reasonable explanation. This will also destroy everything on your primary disk requiring a windows re-install. -
Wow, you must be good !!!!
Any idea on the next Lotto numbers ???
LOL
-
Lmao.
Physically*
Sorry
for lotto numbers:
8-5-20-12-36- megaball 7!

Holy... Effin.. Crap... lol Guys I recommend O&O defrag 10.
Sure its not free. But WOW. Gave me 41GB of space...
Had 99.4GB Free Space when started now I've got 140.8GB Free Space.
Just wow.... Lol. -
Hey guys, been following this thread since the start.
Just wondering if anyone has run GTA4 on this baby. If so, what're the results you guys are getting?
Benchmarks, drivers and other configuration settings will be highly appreciated. Thanks
-
Mine benchmarked with 3DMark Vantage @ P2400
So far plays - G.R.I.D, COD5, COD4, Halo 2, Left 4 Dead flawless all on highest settings.. no lag/skipping whatsoever. -
how does this proc handle the steam source games?
-
What hard drive did you add? I'd like to add another drive myself and mirror then incase the main one fails.
By the way - Go UCONN!!! Great game against Louisville the other night! I wish I still had my season tix :\ -
@BigAlinCa, could you also get us screenshots of gpu-z too? Also try the latest notebook drivers 179.28 for vista64
-
Hitachi 320 was on sale at the egg (Hitachi bought out IBM HD business some time ago) .
SSWilson described exactly what I did.
I use Acronis to make a backup copy of the c: drive and incremental changes in addition to the files I want to keep.
You can mirror your c drive by running raid1.
I have acronis 11, but there is a free acronis 10 out there somewhere which is just as good.
Uconn surprises me this year!!! -
I just went and got a WD 500 gig, 5400 rpm. I had raid0 before and decided against it this time. I wanted spce for laots of HD video from my cacorder and raw files. There is the Seagate 7200 rpm 500gig but I trust WD more as they tend to run cooler.
I just got my user directories over there and swap file is back on and permanent over there at 6 gigs. Userfiles were already at 30 gigs and now I have room for lots more............ -
Thanks Kawaford, but I ask about GTA4 in particular because it has been rumoured to run well on higher clocked processors, being very CPU intensive and all... What're the others getting on GTA4? fps?
-

Means then that its absolutely playable.. Thanks a million Semi
-
O and this is of course with the rockstar patches installed right?
-
Your welcome.
And sort've, I had installed both the first and 2nd patch to the game, but it ran like CRAP for me that way.
So I did a complete reinstall and this time only used the 2nd (Newest patch) and those are the results you see in my benchmark.
It runs so nicely at those settings you see in my benchmark
-
Lately i've seen on BB that people get again the 1900x1200 dipslay. Can someone confirm that in here?
If so, what is batch #? -
i got s 1920x1200 last night at best buy in wichita ks
1920 x 1200 LG
batch I013185
also as stated in another post there may be some thing to SN too -
And, don't forget, jondaniel03 -
If your order the P-7801u from NewEgg, h e r e (while it's on sale) you can be sure to get the 1920 display. -
As a gamer I don't understand why folks want the hidef panel so badly. I feel very lucky I got the 1440 x 900 panel because I can jack up my ingame settings and ini settings for Gothic 3 and it looks amazing and still pretty smooth. I would never be able to push those hi-def pixels and lets face it interpolation looks like poop.
Loving the 1440x900 p-7805u. $1207 out the door
-
Hmm... we got the 1920x1200 as a bonus for jumping on the 7805u bandwagon early, don't hate us for that.
Besides, not all of us are "only" gamers. Many of us find the big real estate a blessing, especially with photography work with apps or just with websites.
I did try the 1440x900 resolution on a game (GRID), which runs really well at 1920x1200 on the same in-game settings.... and I do not think it's that far off in Image quality due to the rendering + upscalling that happens at that low rez.
Either way, I've been blown away how games like GRID, Pure, and even Mass Efffect 'looks' at 1920x1200 that I'd never want to go back or use a lower rez rendered image.
1920x1200 LG P-7805u, $1145 out the door. -
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
If you desire 1440x900 (which many do, hence many notebooks come with that resolution as an option), you're good to go.
If you desire 1920x1200, then hopefully you got lucky.
I despise 1920x1200 on a 17" but if it works for you, work it.
1680x1050 is good....1440x900 is great on a 17" -
I would have preferred 1680x1050 myself, I think that would have been perfect, but the extra real estate of 1920x1200 is good for my cad work.
-
Don't stop looking for the 1920x1200 machines if you are wanting the extra pixels. I picked one up this week from the local Best Buy in Jefferson City, Missouri. Some of the rural areas might still have them in the cages.
-
I think 1680 would have been perfect also. 1920 isn't bad with the font dpi increased to 120.
-
About all I like so far game wise is Vega Strike. It plays full res ans still pumps well over 120 FPS and I see 200+ quite often. I am right now DL'n N4S Pro Street as I used to like those games. for 10 bucks it is worth a shot to see if I still like them.
1920x1200 is awesome for RAW and HD video editing. Same with email net browsing and just about any other normal usage. Again though you have to have the eyes for it.......... -

I installed the 179.28 update and now I get a blue screen when I try to play games. Why?
-
Picked up the 1920x1200 at Best Buy yesterday in Dublin OH.
-
Wow, I can't believe these things are still out there. They were sold out every Best Buy in my state a few days after they were released.
