lol, your funny
I am going to sell my P-6831 FX, all stock except Vista 64bit, and 4gb of ram, I am not sure how much yet. -
-
Quick question, does this system come with 32bit or 64bit Vista?
And has anyone tried the usual games, such as CoD4, Crysis, Etc?
Also which Wifi card does it come with? 5100 like the box says or is that a misprint too? -
What is a 5100 wifi card? -
-
The Intel 5100 Wireless adapter.
Wasn't sure if it had the 5300 or 5100. -
I have run all those games on all my listed systems, The P-7805u should not be any diffrent, if any thing better, save my desktop.
And yes this lappy has the intel 5100 wifi card, is it suppose to be good? -
Can't wait, going to go tomorrow..though in NY it seems they are always strict about street dates...though I did get Call of Duty WaW a day before release and they were even selling before that
. I was sort of thinking of waiting and get the 2.4 ghz processor they put up on the site...but since I can upgrade the CPU, might as well get it while it is dirt cheap.
-
-
Thanks for confirming what it had Flynnaz.
Gonna shoot over to Bestbuy tomorrow. Whats the standard warranty included? -
1 Year parts and labor I think. So what kind of CPU upgrade can be done on this puppy
-
That's what I was just about to post, knew it would be that...I am going to get accidental from here I believe.. http://www.squaretrade.com/pages/la...r_adword_013&gclid=CIHzytfg55cCFQETGgodQyDgCg 3years and 150 bucks..
-
i dont know for sure about the 2 quad cores being supported, or if it would fit underneath the heatsink, but if you really wanted to find out and report back with results it would be much appreciated!
edit...give me 1 more post to respond to, please!? -
-
he's my hero -
KIDDING. Needed a good laugh right now lol
Thanks diablo, I was wondering which processors this could be upgraded to as well.
Hope my BB has one in stock.. -
-
edit: ...i had the nail hit on the head for like...a minute. -
Yeah I know.
I meant I hope bestbuy has the system itself in stock.
Woo 500posts for me -
since october!?!?!? holy crap batman -
Wow, the cpu's you can upgrade too are awsome, the x9100 is sick
-
-
Haha. Gotta love NBR and the talkative people on it!
So do you guys think this thing will be worth it? Or do you think it's still going to be having the problems and we'll all be returning it within the 14days? lol -
What is that version...?
Is it like Vista Home Premium...? -
My 7805u came with Vista home premium 64 bit and runs with no problem so far.
diablo85, I see you have a T9300 cpu, what is the one you would recommend now. The quads are too rich for my blood right now.
The 7805u is not even listed on the Gateway site for product registration. So do we need to register? -
why are all of you talking about quad cores when nobody knows if this thing even supports it.
-
I would think that the mobo is the same as Newegg's. I would think word would have been out if someone got a quad core chip to work in it.
I thiink this laptop seems to scream 2nd generation FX. It is an awesome price for what can be considered a tricked out NEW 7811 at a great price. I would not consider it to be a refresh however.
That said I am on the fence. I just got a refurbed 7811 and am very happy to hear that the FX series is not dead. I had been told that Gateway was discontinuing its "enthusiast" line up. I really hope that this shows that and it is not a case of Gateway getting rid of old inventory/parts. -
Dang-it. I just bought the 7811 in September for 1150 at BB.
You think it's worth upgrading to this one and then selling the 7811? I'm already running RAID 0 with 2x320gb hdd. All I'd be getting would be a shiny new exterior and the extra 512mb video ram. Then I'd have to figure out how to sell the 7811. The 7811's go on ebay for about $1,000, minus fees, I'm looking at $950 vs $1049+tax, so I'd be spending roughly $150 for the extra video ram. Worth it? Opinions? -

Have any of you tried a Zeroshock or Built NY 17" neoprene case for this laptop?
-
Okay just got this Laptop, nice upgrade from my 6831. Haven't burnt it in yet but I'm sure it will be fine.
I got to stop looking at this forumI was happy with my 6831 until I saw this, for the price point I just couldn't pass it up.
-
I noticed on my P-7805u, my wireless conects at 65mb, my other FX's connect at 130mb? I did a windows update that had a update for the wifi, but still the same connection? I will try to download the driver derect fron intel later today, has anyone had this issue?
-
why no info on bestbuy.ca
-
has anyone in michigan able to buy one? seems there are none in the sw area
I'm willing to drive across the state if I need to... -
im in auburn hills and went checking a couple days ago and the guy i spoke to in madison heights said there were 6 on the way and according to BigHops (resident BB employee) they get shipments on tuesdays and fridays so im guessing they should be arriving in stores today .
-
Will the extra 512mb of video ram make a difference at the 1920x1200 resolution between this and the 7811?
-
so is this unofficial release?
^yes duh 512mb makes a big difference in 1920x1200 gaming^ -
there will be a difference, but it won't be double as good as the 7811
-
So what do you think? Is it worth the risk of buying this one and trying to ebay my 7811? I'd pretty much be risking about a $100-150 loss (at worst) and breaking even (at best) for just 512mb video ram. I have 2 320gb hdd in raid 0 so the upgraded HD does me no good.
I guess the question is, is the performance of an extra 512mb at the 1920x1200 resolution worth $100? Gut feeling says probably not. Thoughts? -
Anyone been able to grab one of these up in NY? Perhaps in the Palisades Mall, that is where I think I will be going
.
-
Unnecessary purchase. Keep what you have, it's the same machine. -
I see what people mean about the fan kicking on and off, high and low, kinda weard, but I guess ok.
-
I've got the 7811, it does the fan thing too. I got used to it.
-
how much is square trade insurance on this laptop with adp
-
there are no immidiate benefits to the extra 512mb on the gpu.
maybe future games will utilize it but at the moment the only difference is that 1gb gpus do not oc as good as 512mb gpus.
a user with a 7801u (1gb gpu) run 3dmark06 on gpu and got the exact same score like a 7811 (512). there is a thread about it. somewhere. -
Doubt you will see much difference. I would wait for the next big thing. -
Odd, the Gateway website is showing the 7807u and the 7801u, ( http://www.gateway.com/systems/series/529598056.php?cmpid=ms_pseries), but none of the other P fx series laptops. Are they phasing out the 7811 so quickly??? Where are the specs for the 7805???
