I bought the laptop in the same room as the router and now I'm getting 135mpbs

mine is 12 feet way with two wals inbetween, my P-717x fx is next to it at 130mbps ;/

 

Turns out I didn't need a new Wifi card....just enabling some settings for the existing one works wonders.



Using a D-Link DIR615SW router

 

What settings?

 

please share what settings.

 

Made the first one Auto too, but the above pic must be the most significant setting.

I need some help..
Don't wanna mess up.
Alright so I go to Control panel, add remove programs blah blah.
Now the program im suppose to be removing is called nVidia Drivers, correct?
So after I click uninstall on that it askes me if I want to remove the Audio drivers, Display drivers, or both. Which do I choose?

Thats where I'm stuck at now. But after that I'm suppose to boot up in safe mode, run Driver Sweeper (Which do I make it sweep for here too? Display ? It has check boxes).
So than after that I'm suppose to boot back into regular mode, Install the drivers. and than I'm all done?

 

Just uninstall the display drivers, then safe mode then run driver sweeper and clean only the nvidia display drivers then reboot, install new drivers reboot again and your done.

Uh i get this when I try to install.
Alrready did the clean removal in safe mode and blah blah.
It says something like this after I go to hit the Balance setting on Dox's installer:
The Program could not find any driverrs compatible with your hardware.
Something like that.
any suggestions?

 

Rang up $1149 at my BB too. Manager said that the specs on the box are correct and that if it has the hi-res screen to consider it lucky, but he was told that wxga+ is to be standard on this model.

At $1149 I passed, it would be $1230 after taxes. It is strange how that needle breaks the camels back.

 

The price has officially been changed to $1149.99, still a stellar deal in my book, but $100 is $100.

 

Yeah its still an excellent deal.
But just glad I got mine when I did lol if I would've waited one day I'd have $100 less right now! lol

 

If you use DOX's driver you will have to do a manual install from the device manager. So go Control panel/Device manager/display adapters then click on the vga adapter at that point you will have to direct it to where the drivers are which should be C:\Vista64Dox folder and there will be an inf file in there named Bal so click on that then you will have a bunch of different cards you can pick from and just scroll down to the 9800gts and click on it, it will say something about not being compatible but just click it anyway and your good to go .
i think the reason it does not find our cards is because they are 1gigs and have a different ID (speculation of course)

Same here, glad I was able to order it when I did... the wife probably wouldn't of let me get it if it were $100 more.

 

I've never used Dox before.
What I did:
downloaded one of doxs drivers, saved it to /c:
And i don't get any INF. just the installer itself.
And the device manager is showing my card as "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"
As where before it said 9800M GTS and etc...
So I go to direct it to the installer I downloaded and it told me windows said the best for the VGA is already installed.
and wouldnt go further?

 

When you tried to run the driver and it gave you all the options like balanced and the powermizer thing for the desk, then you clicked install but it didnt work it should have created a DOX directory on your C: drive even though it did not install . i did this with his 180.84s.

 

cmon..someone here must be able to take a picture of their receipt..it would really help...

How do I direct the device manager at it?

When I click the Plus sign next to the Vista64_Dox_18084 after c:/ it just makes the plus sign go away without dropping down the list of items in the folder..

The receipt will do you no good. The current price is the price, there is nothing you can do to change it. Also as of right now, even at $1149.99 there is NO markup on this system.

 

Just in case a receipt can make a difference, here is a higher quality one.

 

No markup at $1149.00? So at $1049.00 BB was taking a hit? How much will this system retail when it officially hits the market on 1/4? I'm assuming close to the P-7811fx at $1449?

 

So I am up nice and early and am going to head over to bestbuy when they open to wait for my laptop to arrive LOL. Will this be he first I the new shipments anybody has? Since it would be nice to know what I could expend on he laptop if it has been downgraded

 

There's no way of knowing what the full retail will be. Normally they only change prices once or twice, before they hit the floor. BTW the price change is due to Gateway changing their prices, not BB getting greedy. I'll keep you all informed and check next weeks flier for the FX.

 

The price $1049.99 in on the box, clearly marked. So BB will have to remove the label.

Anyone upgrade there 7805u with a higher end CPU and a second 320gb hdd for raid 0? Just wondering if this would make a big difference. Just got mine yesterday and its GREAT so far Time for upgrades...

what r the specs... can anyone PM the taxes/duties if I go to america to buy it? this thread is getting lots of posts. btw i have total 3 family members so I think it used to be 800$ tax free after like 5 days and I have 3 ppl thats maybe enough I'm not sure... The most I can stay in USA is like max 3 days or else I have to allocate vaction time.

 

yeah they received a new batch today and it was open today so I went and picked mine up and still has the wuxga screen. Anyone try running a defrag on the system? it is taking hours........
