Shipping time frame kinda for P-171x fx

hmm....hopefully I can get a good discount when I call in to order mine soon. Should help that I'm in the same state as the call center I've seen in a couple of the chats a few of you have posted. Wonder if they'll throw in a converter for me for when I get deployed to the Middle East later this year. One thing that was in the news recently is that call center in North Sioux City is supposed to be closing sometime later this year. Acer said they wouldn't be closing any, but business is business.

 

ohh man, i dont even know what to do now...they're keep telling me that i should get it before the 18th !! But something tells me that they full of ****. At the same time i kinda got awesome deal already. I paid only $1800.00 including tax/ship. on P-171X FX. I had a chance to go with 6831, but that thing on X FX like fingerprint and slot-load drive, including much faster CPU, and better screen nailed me ! So, in my case the difference of $500.00 between those two models includes really a lot of cool, useful, and future-oriented components ! I guess I'll let them keep testing my patience ! %@#$ers !!!
in regs to the MOBO, not only CPUs are up-gradable, but i also found some topics on this forum where some dude stated that he is trying to un-lock the BIOS by cracking it, to utilize 8800m GTS to GTX version

a converter ?!? For 220V ?!? You just need a plug-switch !!! Thats all !!! I travel a lot across the Europe, and never had any problems with my old Gateway.

 

I hate gateway even more now. I saw an email from them in my box...but it was for a promotional offer. HOW EVIIIILLLL!!

Hello all, I just joined the forums and couldn't resist chimming in on this thread. I'm getting really anxious waiting on my P-171S FX to get here. Is there anyone who ordered one prior to 28 Feb, and purchased overnight shipping, who has had their ETA date pushed back?

 

Yeh but another converter would be nice for in our shop over there. I know all about plug-switches. A few of my electronics can use the same plug here and over there. I've already been deployed to where I'm going back to.

 

Not too sure if I trust that estimated ship date on Gateway's website, it says that the estimated ship date would be April 24, 2008? The S version says March 20, 2008. Should I take these dates with a grain of salt?

Hopefully it changes back to March, or at least the real shipping date.

 

Mine had originally said the 24th (S FX) but now, like you said, it says the 20th. Can't really complain as I just ordered mine on the 7th but it is real odd how they keep playing with the dates like this.

What ever happened to that 500 or so each (S and X FX's) that someone reported that they were receiving this week?

 

I'm calling my rep again today to see what's up. He did say by the end of the week, which today it is. So we will see.

 

I just contacted them through the chat...the guy told me that for the 171S FX's they are only backlogged 2 days so they should be out quick, like arriving at my door on the 20th/21st so hopefully just one more week.

That would mean that I only had to wait 2 weeks booooyahh!! (ok...I realise that now because of my "boooyaaah!" karma dictates that my laptop will now be delayed for another month....stupid karma......) Will be interesting to see what others are hearing just to compare notes...now that all of the dates have been shuffled around again.

 

Just talked with sales and support - they told me April 24, 2008 is the right date for shipping the P171X-FX edition... that's more than a month from now!

In May or early June Intel will be releasing the montevina platform with lower TDP...

I really think that they really need to analyze their supply chain structure and management if they want to make money instead of having a paper release...

Yeah, I ordered my P-6831 on Wednesday and I'm typing on it right now. Already I'm pleased with it. Can't wait to fire some games up rather than wait for the P-171S FX I originally ordered.

 

adsman, are you using the stock drivers for your 8800?

 

This is kinda funny, Gateways Wesite has a March 19th Ship Date for the P-171x FX, should we reorder? LOL

Maybe not, from all the stuff I have heard, I think most of the preorders will go out together, We should all have a big lan party after this

 

I spoke with my rep (again) and he assured me that I would have my fx by next weekend as they had them in hand at Gateway as of yesterday. I ordered mine on 2/11 for reference.

Also, I just looked and my bank was charged late last night... maybe this time they're telling the truth.

 

I found this forum yesterday and started following this thread, amongst others. I ordered my P-171x fx on 2/11 with a 3/11 delivery date, received an email from Gateway on 3/11 that my delivery date was changed to 3/31, sent a reply email to cancel my order and they replied back that they would process the cancellation.

Because of this thread I decided to call my sales rep and see if I could get a discount if I reinstated my order, she took $200. off the price, best she could do. She then told me that my laptop was slated to be delivered from the first batch of 171x fx's they will receive and I was given an overnight ship date of 3/28. The wait is making me crazy, argh, can't wait to see it.

 

Well, I just registered so I could post in this thread. I ordered my P171X on February 3rd. My original arrival date was 3/12, then got the email on the 12th that my new arrival date was 4/1.
I just spoke to Gateway sales and the person I spoke with had no new information, she put me on hold to talk to her manager and he provided no new information either. They said they have no idea when they are coming in (which is ridiculous based on what others have posted here). They said my 4/1/08 arrival date is the most up to date information. I pointed out that the website says that if I ordered one today the ship date is 3/19/08. They said that's wrong. She also told me that none of these computers have shipped to anyone yet. My CC has not been charged yet. I am really annoyed at Gateway, it seems everyone is getting different information.

I talked to a sales rep Dawson because my sales rep will not respond to any call or email I send him HE SUCKS it has been 1month since I talked to him last. I have sent 6 emails and 8 voice message. but anyways I talked with this Dawson guy and I was going to cancel my order but instead I got 50 dollars off it is a good deal I am only paying 2005.00 dollars for the 171X Fx with 3yr warranty and 3 yr accidental. But anyways he told me they would be getting a shipment on the 21 march. They will be getting 250 of the 171X FX and there are a total 262 preorders he said I will get my on the 28 it will be at my door step lets wait and see. I will not be holding my breath due to the fact I need oxygen to live and I can only hold my breath for 2 mins maxxxxxx...

 

I should have mentioned in my previous post that the -$200. was not in addition to a previous discount, but was the only discount I received.

Good for you dodgehemi0 for getting another -&50. off of yours, guess I am in that same preorder batch as you, mine also to arrive the 28th.

Ok, here is the most recent reply from my Gateway Rep

I looked into the delay of the models and they are delayed till the date and the 21st for us to receive them, so we are to get the supply in on 3/21 and shipment would be asap after that. So, the computer logic says ead of 3/31 but with shipment arriving 21st shipment should only be a day or two so would have tracking numbers a day or two after we receive them. I wish I could say we have them in stock but not until next Friday…

 

You would think that Gateway would try to get these orders out faster as the P-6831FX is not being sold anymore. Still, Gateway is taking their careful time and getting more impatient customers with no other notebook choice (P-6831FX). What are they thinking?

So much variance quoted in the different number of units they have. One poster was told 500, another poster was told 250, I was told 600, and now 1000... I would think they would have a somewhat decent inventory system to keep track of how many laptops of each kind they have and how many are supposed to come in?

I think they're just doing that to torture us!

 

I ordered mine on 2/11....but I got the p-171s fx though.

and 1000 seems kind of accurate to the other number I got before. My original rep told me that they will be getting 504 of each the X and S models. So 1000 seems pretty accurate. Only off by 8, hehe.

 

I just canceled my order. Will be headed to the store in a few minutes to pick up a MacBook Pro. The Gateway rep said that Intel was the bottle neck for all the orders. According to him Intel is having trouble getting the processors to the manufactures-the plot thickens!

 

There has been some news regarding delays in shipments of Intel Penryns, so the rep might very well have been telling the truth or just fobbing the blame off to Intel.

 

Yeah, who knows. It seems to make sense that there's a hardware shortage somewhere or just an extremely sluggish supply system trying to get them to the states. I guess we are left to speculation till the first person gets there's and post. BTW...I'm typing this from my new MacBook Pro!! Ah, if only Gateway would've had there act together.

 

man i love these core 2s! even tho this laptop is only 1.66 ghz, it flies through vista! even while surfing, burning, downloading, and playing music, i'm only using a little over a gigabyte of ram. good stuff

 

Just got the dreaded email myself regarding my P-171S FX. Today was my original EAD. I ordered on 2/22. They said that my new EAD is 4/4. I can understand that there may be delays in shipping products, but there are some things that still really bother me about this.

The first is that on Gateway's website, it still says that my EAD is today 3/17. It also says that my order is still being processed... the status hasn't even been upgraded to In Production. I can't believe that Gateway has such a poor order status website that doesn't even work. If you're not going to make it work, don't keep pointing us to it on the customer service page.

The other thing is that I just got the email notifying me that my order was being delayed today, on the day I was supposed to receive my order. If I was supposed to get my laptop today, that means that they were supposed to ship it a few days ago. When the estimated ship date arrives for a customer, and Gateway isn't able to ship out the notebook, why don't they send you an email then? Gateway really needs to get their act together. They have some really poor customer service.

Here's hoping that on 4/4 I get my notebook instead of another email from Gateway.

 

Yeah, I freaked out too when I got the email, but don't be too discouraged. My rep says that by law, if they are not able to get you your product by the EAD, then they HAVE to send out an email on the EAD to notify you that they cannot make the date and the new dat HAS to be two weeks from your last EAD.

Like the run on sentence there? tooo lazy to fix it, haha.

 

So who's calling their rep today? I am! lol. Almost seems like a daily thing for me.

I think we need our own forum section, "Waiting for FX Laptop." Then we can tell stories of our experiences...LOL

 

Quick quesiton, since I am waiting for my SFX since 2/7. Getting frustrated and annoyed with Gateways lack of customer service and lack of disseminating information...I have been looking at comparable priced laptops...There is no way of getting a 8800 card for what I paid...but what would be your opinions on something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220279, I read over in the Asus forums they are getting over 4k on 3d mark...I know thats not near the 8k of the 8800 cards, but what does that really mean for someone like me, who historically was a "power gamer" but has been out of that for a 3+ years, and is looking for something thats a desktop replacement that "could"play games without the fear of slow death?
