I have not tried many of the 19x.xx series drivers, may have to give this a shot. I tried checking Laptopvideo2go and a google search, but cant seem to FIND any 19x.xx above 191.xx.

    Could you provide a link?

OR did you mean 1 86.42?

    Hey all,
Well I FINALLY decided I am going to update my FX 7805u 9800M GTS drivers (still using what ever came from best buy 6 months ago). I don’t want to ask “whats the best” because I will get 20 different answers as I know everyone’s PC runs different. I guess I am stuck between the Nvidia latest 186.81 or the DOX 185.85. Can anyone sway me to one or the other or suggest that neither are good? Anyone have experiences with either? Thanks!

I had some issues with 186.81, i wanted to use those as they come direct from nvidia, but they didnt allow the 2d to underclock so gave me higher idle temps, i roll back to 186.42 and gained 300pts on 3dmark aswell as low idle temps again, so im just gona stay with those till the next nvidia official release.

Although i use 186.42, and imo they are the best for me, you should try different ones and see what works better for you. Some like DoX 185.85, some like from nvidia website 186.81, and some like the ones from Microsoft 186.82, to mention some.

    NVIDIA GeForce v186.42 WHQL Drivers
    NVIDIA GeForce v186.82 WHQL Drivers
186.81 you can download from Nvidia website
Or you can get them at Laptopvideo2go

    This is what i do,
    Download and install Driver Sweeper
Uninstall with Control Panel > Programs > Program n Features > Uninstall current drivers n PhysX
Reboot press F8 while loading enter in safe mode, then run Driver Sweeper, just run click Nvidia driver n Nivdia PhysX in case you also upgrading them.
    Reboot in normal mode
    Install your new drivers.

    Thanks.

So in the Control Panel, under Uninstall programs, I want to uninstall what? (will it state "Nvidia driver" or PhysX or uninstall both?) Whats the difference between the driver and the PhysX? Also, after Its all said and done should I uninstall Driver Sweeper or keep it for future use. Thanks!

Well this more up to you and also depends on your videocard. Some drivers come with it build it like 186.81 from nvidia, other come only the driver.

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_new.html
NVIDIA® PhysX® technology adds an element of realism never before seen in gaming. With an NVIDIA® GeForce® GPU in your PC, experience dynamic PhysX® effects like blazing explosions, reactive debris, realistic water, and lifelike characters.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhysX
PhysX is a proprietary realtime physics engine middleware SDK acquired by Ageia (which itself was acquired by Nvidia in February 2008) with the purchase of, the ETH spin-off, NovodeX in 2004. The term PhysX can also refer to the PPU add-in card designed by Ageia to accelerate PhysX-enabled video games. Video games supporting hardware acceleration by PhysX can be accelerated by either a PhysX PPU or a CUDA-enabled GeForce GPU, thus offloading physics calculations from the CPU, allowing it to perform other tasks instead—potentially resulting in a smoother gaming experience.

Up to you, if you think you gona try more drivers then just keep it, if you think you never gona change drivers then you can uninstall, again up to you.

I see in my Uninstall list a entry for NVIDIA DRIVERS and one for NVIDIA PhysX
In dxdiag Im running DX10 and my driver version is 7.15.11.7924.

So download DriverSweeper, download drivers, download PhysX drivers
    Uninstall NVIDIA DRIVERS, Uninstall PhysX,
Reboot in safe mode, Run DriverSweeper
Reboot normal mode, Run drivers, Run PhysX
    Reboot

    Correct? Thanks

And also in IaTa'sst post he says not to reboot after uninstalling drivers, and to run the driversweeper right then instead of rebooting into safe mode, the runninf sweeper. Why the discrepancy? Or does it really not matter? (IaTa bolder DO NOT REBOOT)

Ya I am going to install 186.42 drivers and whatever the latest PhysX driver is on the first page. Is it recommended to update both at the same time? So I uninstall and reinstall both at the same time (Drivers and PhysX)? Im not going to extract the inf..etc..I was just going to download and "run" ???

Most (if not all?) of our GPU drivers have the Physx driver incorporated, just run the setup installer. If they are seperate entries in the Add/Remove programs list, uninstall both. When you run driver sweeper, remove both at the same time.

Thanks mang! Ya they are listed as seperate but maybe when I uninstall the "NVIDIA DRIVERS" entry it will take the PhsyX with it. Guess Im wondering why on the first page of this post there is a link to PhysX drivers and seperate link to drivers? Also, should I run driversweeper right after I uninstall them or reboot in safe mode then run sweeper then reboot and run new drivers

I dont reboot in between and haven't had any problems, but I don't change video drivers that often. I'm unsure if others have experienced problems when they didn't restart in between.

PhysX is listed separately as all the drivers on laptopvideo2go have had PhysX removed.

Thanks iaTa. So I cant choose between the DOX 185.85 and the 186.42.
Which should I go for? (what have people been having success with more)

Does the DOX 185.85 include PhysX, or do I need to install the latest PhysX along with the driver?
    or
laptop2go 186.42 stock OR with modified .inf? (which btw the download for the modified .inf file gives me an error page)

    AHH cant decide..

For me the 186.42 don't have the downclocking issue, my 260 returns to 50c quite fast after gaming or benchmarking. I did had that issue with 186.81 official nvidia drivers, but others didn't, your card is also different card, so my suggestion is don't guide yourself by what works for others, but go test it out, see what works better for you.

If you don't have any issues, and the performance/image quality that your current drivers have is good enough for you, then don't change what its not broken.

There were some posts a couple of weeks ago about 186.42 having lower temps, I cant say for certain as i changed way to many things on the first week. Just test some drivers see what works better for you, this are some of the most popular drivers lately,

    NVIDIA GeForce v186.42 WHQL Drivers
    NVIDIA GeForce v186.82 WHQL Drivers
186.81 you can download from Nvidia website
185.85 DOX from Laptopvideo2go, you can also find newer drivers there.

Can drivers really cause a spike like that? That doesn't seem possible. In any case, I used 185.85, and it seemed to give normal temps with normal performance. In fact, DOX drivers usually run cooler for me, but at the cost of some performance.

Probably been answered, but couldn't find. Do the drivers from Nvidia's site have the HD Audio drivers in the display driver package? Or do I just not delete the HD audio drivers from Control panal and just the display?

    Thanks

Hi, Just upgraded my 7805u to windows 7 ultimate 64bit and The driver that was automatically installed by windows 7 had some artifact issues so I came here to find a better driver.

I installed the 191.?? driver from the Original Post and the problems got worst. My laptop froze alot and artifacts were happening still with alot of times my screen would go black and come back and windows would say, video driver failed but has recovered.

I am now using driver 186.42. It still has some artifacting issues and freezing, less than the 191, but still happens. Does anyone have a stable graphics driver they can suggest me?

I used this video card fine while on vista why would I need to replace it now that I'm using windows 7?

If that is a solution though, how much does it cost for that video card and is it hard to replace?

No you cannot replace the video card, and it is not necessary. You simply need to find a driver that gives you no issues in Windows 7.

If you need to upgrade the GPU and overclocking will not satisfy your needs you need to buy a different laptop with a better GPU.

nindustrialny I had that issue all the damn time and I figured the solution for it. You have to download vista drivers, right hand click and click on Trouble Shoot Compatability and click on Use to work on previous versions etc.. Trust me it'll work. I know what problem u are talking about, I fixed mine.

I suggest the Win 7 64 bit drvrs. off the Gateway site if you haven't already. Supposedly they are tried and true and supported by Gateway, whatever that gets you. I don't game so can't testify to their performance under gaming situations but they're rock solid under normal use on my Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit 7805u.

It says: The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.

Whats a good driver to use? I dont really play games much on my laptop. Most of the times i use it to watch shows online, but i do occasionally play some l4d2 with some of my friends, but it seems my GPU gets really hot after 30 minutes sometimes even 80C.

Our friends over at laptopvideo2go.com hunted down the new 197.13 Forceware/ION/Desktop drivers at Nvidia's site: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/26332-nvidia-forceware-19713-released/. I'm using them with a modded inf and the system seems to be running smoother and (dare I say) a little cooler. Expect a WHQL version for mobile soon? *crosses fingers*

Edit: hot on the heels of XXX.13 comes 197.15: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/26349-nvidia-forceware-19715-released/ (more recent releases have the powermizer function enabled by default) *remove older version prior to install, use "have disk method", remove 3D/stereo-vision driver(optional) , restart.

None of the 19x.xx drivers will install on my P-7805u. Both the Dox and official versions of 195.62 would tell me to restart the computer twice, and the resolution would change to and lock to 640x480 and 4-bit color. I just tried 197.16 and it also asked me to restart twice in order for the driver to be installed (for the second time too). After the second restart, the installshield wizard didn't appear and I noticed my driver reverted to 185.85, although I had been using 186.03.

im running into the same problem ultimate. every time i try to use drivers that are not updated automatically i get the message that an install wizard is already running and the computer needs to restart. after the restart im rolled back to old drivers...last time i tried it rolled me back to the drivers the computer shipped with.

KICKASS!!!! I looked into the NVIDIA folder under C:\ and saw that all the drivers existed in their separate folders, so I went to the Device Manager and selected to manually find drivers and selected the 197.17 or w/e folder and after rebooting it worked!!!
