Is the P-7800 Nvidia HDMI driver 1.0.0.23 from gateway's driver downloads meant to be updated over the "hdmi audio driver" found under sound devices in device manager?
-
Updated lots of links.
-
alot of the links are broken.
-
Oops laptopvideo2go anti-leech. Updated to specific forum posts now. Cheers.
-
iaMtHeAnimaL gets +rep for the update and nice thread. Thanks!
-

On oct 7 nvidia release new drivers for 64 bit only, 178.24, check laptopvideo2go
-
-
Ok big update...
First we have Beta 180.10 "Big Bang II" drivers for Vista x64 ( support for OpenGL 3.0 and SLI Multi-monitor).
And also new nVidia System Tools with ESA Support v6.03.
Links updated. -
dang "big bang ii"? shucks...
-
hopefully it's not just a small pop.
-
whats Big bang 2? when was big bang 1? does this have the modded .inf?
-
Ok did a quick search and didn't really come up with anything. My original 7811 played sound out of my tv using the HDMI output, and it was all stock drivers, but my new one (2887) with updated video driver and (updated) 9C.08 .00 BIOS is not playing sound through the HDMI port could these updates have disabled that feature?
-
I think there is an HDMI audio driver for 7811 users on the Gateway Support site - try that.
Also I assume you have changed your default playback device to HDMI in 'Playback Devices'? -
Thanks. I'll look. The most obvious place is often the most illusive. =)
-
All drivers updated to 180.42. They are recommended for the best experience on Far Cry 2. Also PhysX updated to v8.10.13
-
-
Unless the drivers are WHQL certified they are all classed as beta. However the 180 series have so far been classed as very early betas as they are quite buggy. Hopefully these new 180.42s will be a bit better as they are recommended for Far Cry 2.
-
Strangely I can't get the 180.42's to install on Vista x64 - they come back with an "Access is denied" error message.
Maybe an error in the inf. Going to try and find out why. -
-
-
That's odd. I wonder if mobilenvidia has updated the inf. I'll give it another go.
-
Someone else on lv2g forums had the same issue. He had to boot into safe mode in the end to install. Very odd as I've never had to boot into safe mode to install a driver. Will give it a go though. Must be something to do with the 180 series or the inf.
-
Installed fine here (9800gts). Question: should the physx drivers be downloaded and installed separately or are they included/not necessary for this driver package?
-
They are included anyway but I'm not sure if they install with the have disk method. Check your start menu and see if you have the icon. If not the setup file is in the extracted driver directory.
-
after installing the 180.42 (downloaded from nvidia modded by self) only dx10 works, any dx9 shows only black screen. buyers beware

Changing drivers takes like 5 minutes so if this thing blow away all other drivers (at least in DX10) then i wouldnt mind keeping 2 drivers handy according to which game i would be running
I just noticed this thread got stickied...yay -
yep about time it got stuck, can i rep the mod who did it
?
well it gave me 1.4 extra fps in far cry2, does it qualify ? -
I asked Chaz to do it
Far Cry 2 is pretty good isn't it - much better than Crysis. Runs pretty well too. Do you overclock your GPU royk? -
yep i run 600 850 1500
-
Not that it matters but Intel Matrix is at 8.6 now.
-
Good spot.
-
Fix for black screen issue when running Far Cry 2 in DX9 mode with 180.42 drivers:
1) Open C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 2\GamerProfile.xml in Notepad
2) Replace Maximized="0" with Maximized="1"
3) Save and exit -
thanks for that, however why would furmark fail to render ? i am pretty sure something stinks with these drivers.
-
Try 180.43 - links updated.
Dox's Customised has been updated to 180.43 too.
I'll be testing them later. -
thanx will try later
-
Wait, do I download the latest display drivers and then the customized drivers? Is the inf file in the latest display drivers or the customized drivers?
-
Sorry I should make that clearer on the original post. The latest display drivers come with a separate modified inf file - follow the instructions to use those.
The customised drivers are driver sets which have been altered by members of the community to give extra performance and optimisations. These drivers do not require a separate inf file as they already have a modified version built in. -
Is it better to use the customized drivers? Which instructions do you ignore for those? All of them? Just the customized ini stuff?
-
benches:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19567
While there have been advantages in the past dox versions, these benches show no real advantage in using dox's 180.43 vs the official 180.43, so IMO the official should be used as it's likely more stable. -
Laptopvideo2go needs seperate .inf available along with the driver download but downloaded separately. This new .inf needs to overwrite the original .inf in the expanded driver files.
Xtastest has the correct .inf built into the single download.
Holy verbosity ... I didn't plan on that many words. -
If you follow my link to Dox's post it will tell you the changes from the official version:
-Based on Forceware BETA 180.43
-Removed Desktop support
-Added extra resolutions and adjusted existing ones
-Improved responsiveness of nvidia control panel
-Added support for all Mobile gpus 6- 9m and quadro equivalent
-Added Direct X and OpenGL tweaks to ensure performance
-Adjusted Image quality settings for sharper textures with minimal shimmering and performance loss
-Removed Nview and associated files (more optimised than last drivers I released)
-Driver comes with two infs - one is for troubleshooting purposes and recommended for sli users
-Includes fixes for laggy aero and random gpu downclocking (Vista only)
-Disabled Nvidia display driver service and start up items to reduce background resources and boot time
Further optimisations to driver:
* Removed help files
* Removed nvcolor.exe (XP only)
* Removed nvkeystone.exe (XP only)
* Removed language files
* English language release only.
Going on that changelog I would say try these first and if you have any issues revert to the official. -
I didn't see the DOX entry ... interesting.
Are you using it? -
Just installing to test with Far Cry 2 along with the new widescreen fix.
-
Xfastest 175.85 still the best. just benched, lowered 400 points with the 180.43 and with DoXs
-
May make it fastest, but doesn't necessarily make it the best. There's other things to consider like stability, compatibility with certain features/types of apps/processes, cooling and fan triggers/speeds, graphics-performance ratio, etc. While it's not always the case, generally newer is better. If you're talking speed alone, xfastest is probably fastest right now.
-
I don't know bout you guys but my Dox 178.24 right now is 100 points higher than the Xfastest 177 driver.
-
Yeah I think most people are reporting that Dox's 178.24 are the fastest in benches. 180.43 run better for me in Far Cry 2 though so I'm sticking with them.
-
waht driver do you sugest me to download! I need a fast driver and a stable because i OC! help plz!
